We are about helping students grow closer together so they can grow closer to Christ. Encounter High School Tuesday 6:30pm Encounter Middle School Wednesday 6:30pm
Pastor Mike explains the importance of community as we dive into Ecclesiastes 4:9-12. Because it is important for us to understand what we are doing here. Why do we gather? Why do we miss you when you aren’t here? Why do we go to eat after Encounter? We do this because we are a family. I believe that part of the reason we don’t cherish the church is because we don’t understand the purpose of it.
Acts 20:22-25
Don't live for the moment. Live for eternity. Make decisions as if your eternity matters. We see that the gospel frees us from the fear of eternity.
Do you live like eternity matters? Does your life look like eternity matters?
Acts 7:54-60
Throughout the history of the church, there have been people who have committed to making an eternal difference, and they did so in the face of hardship, tears, and even the loss of their own lives. What you will find is that the gospel has most often been spread through suffering rather than abundance.
Acts 4:1-22
The question we need to ask ourselves is what does the game plan look like of a life that makes a difference? What we see in Acts 4 is what it looks like to live a life that makes an eternal difference.
Ultimately, we learn through this passage that we must be willing to die to ourselves to live for Jesus.
Episode NotesTonight we will be continuing this study with Romans 9. Romans 9 is an incredible opportunity for us to see the beauty of God in this Salvation of his people. Romans 9 can be a contentious passage of scripture for some, as it can lead to discussions about highly debated topics regarding our faith. While many will seek to use scripture as a means to defend a particular doctrinal stance, I want to give you a little peace of mind and let you know that is not the goal tonight. Tonight is not for me to sit back and give my opinion (Or anyone else's) on a particular debate or subject. Rather, it is to faithfully study a passage of scripture together and understand what God is telling us through his word.
Episode NotesWe walked through Romans 8:16-25 so that we can understand God's purpose and reason in allowing suffering.
