My Mental Mates: Recent Episodes

Anthony Trebble

This show is all things mental health where I will be speaking to people about their journey with mental health, dealing with it day to day, their tips for improving mental health, mindset and all other things mental.

I'm hoping this can help people going through their own mental health issues to realise they are not alone.

I will be recording this in line with training for the London Marathon 2021 in which I will be running for Mind.

This week I've mixed things up and got two of the boys on and decided against the usual interview and decided to just have a chat.

Men are three times more likely to commit suicide and "lads" having more conversations like this could help save a friend. In this episode we discuss a variety of things including how COVID has affected our mental health, the physical effects of mental health, the importance of sleep & food, ADHD and addiction.

In a first for me I'm interviewing a new Mental Mate in Rory Sasse.

Rory got in contact with me after hearing about the podcast through previous guest Vicky and felt it was time to share his full story. From being put into an Italian nunnery school at 7 not speaking a word of English, bullied throughout his teenage years, using alcohol and drugs as a way to hide his insecurities which ultimately led to failed relationships and an attempt to take his own life. But after taking alcohol and drugs out of the equation has turned his life round and is now on a path to using his experiences to help others.

An absolute cracker of an episode!

This week episode features Alan Griffin. Someone who has had to take a long route to accepting himself for who he is. From being bullied at school, dealing with a skin condition (Hidradenitis Suppurativa) struggling with his sexuality and coming out gay. Alan's journey has been a tough one but these experiences have made him tougher and more resilient which coupled with counselling when things start to take a downturn has meant he is able to deal with his mental health issues in a healthy and proactive way.
