Meet Bridget is back for our first one-on-one episode of the season. We thought we'd kick it off with a discussion on body image since we both recently had a baby. We felt inspired to dedicate this episode to the journey of how we relate to our bodies over time.

Today, we're going through what body image is and the topics all around it. People are always talking about what other people look like, especially women. There's just such a crazy fixation on the changes in women's bodies. So we thought, why not talk about it with our community? As we grow and mature, it is important to realize that we are not staying a certain way forever.

As women, whether we bear children or not, our bodies grow, bloom, transform, and change with hormones and age. Personally, this is something that has been part of our struggles from the very beginning of our lives. Because we've gone through so many recent changes, we know this is a conversation that continues to be relevant in any state of a woman’s life.

To remain genuine is to remain true to oneself and one’s original nature.

Working with teen girls and young adults for so many years has taught us that making an impact is highly dependent on how information is communicated, so we make a concerted effort to come from a place of authenticity, experience, and transparency.

In order to build that impact, our strategy has always been to be true to who we are and what we stand for in the face of doubts about our legitimacy.

In this episode, Keshiia will break down the word ‘genuine’.

Today, I am coming to you as a parent of a toddler and a newborn, who quite honestly really doesn’t have it all together! In a storm of Google searches on how to get my toddler to stop throwing things for fun, I’ve explored several theories of DISCIPLINE.

Prior to having kids, my main relationship with the word discipline was through the concept of self-discipline. Self-discipline with health and fitness, self-discipline to earn academic degrees, and self-discipline to keep working away at something (like creating this podcast) until it became a reality.

But now that I am in this position of needing to use discipline to help my daughter grow and develop as a responsible and safe little human, it’s like I need to learn it ALL OVER AGAIN. Do I need to be disciplined on discipline?

In today’s episode, Asha is breaking down the word DISCIPLINE!

Based on the definition of steadfastness of its etymology over time, it might be really easy to assume that the idea of connection or connecting is a fairly simple one. However, a quick Google search brings up hundreds of millions of hits. But upon further research, the original intention of the word shows that just because we're seemingly connected at any given point in time, true connection requires linking to entities.

Binding them together through the cultivation of a relationship, we can work on cultivating and maintaining these relationships.

In today’s episode, Keshiia is breaking down the word CONNECTION!

Have you ever had to end a friendship?

Setting boundaries is one way of creating strong, long-lasting friendships. Without them, our friends might make us feel disrespected, uneasy, or violated. If these emotions are suppressed, resentment will eventually develop, which could result in arguments, blow-ups, or even the end of the friendship.

In this episode, we will talk about how fundamental communication is in a relationship and whether you need to redirect those relationships or set some boundaries to avoid resentment.

These days, we hear a lot about manifestation and about how the art of “manifesting” can literally transform thoughts into being. You may have heard of the law of attraction or perhaps read the book The Secret, both of which validate the power of “thinking things into existence”. And while the idea at first pass may seem mystical, manifestation itself is more concrete and palpable than one might be led to believe.

Curious? In this episode, we will also talk about two competing mindsets, fixed mindset, and growth mindset, as explained by Dr. Carol Dweck. We will also go into how this translates back into manifestation.

What does it mean to be normal? How did we come up with what is considered normal? and why is what is normal to one person abnormal to another?

We use this word every day. It is "normal".

However, when it first entered our vocabulary in the 17th century, it was only used by mathematicians and later adapted to the fields of anatomical and physiological science. She explains how it has evolved over the centuries, whether we are correct in our linguistic usage of the word, the different concepts around it, when in history it began to take on a more sinister tone, how our definitions continue to shift over time, and much more!
