The Parable of the Sower is a very famous passage (Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23). We’ve all heard of how a farmer went to sow seeds, and how lots of the seeds feel on different types of grounds. In this parable, we are taught that the seeds are the Word of God, and the grounds are the different conditions of the hearts the seed fell on. In essence, the condition of our hearts, impacts how fruitful God’s word is in our lives. However, this can go both ways. Seeds can be both good and bad seeds. We can either have the Word of God which is the truth being sown in our hearts, or we can have some other words being sown. What we learn from this is that our lives represent the seeds that have been sown in us, and those that have taken root. More importantly, if we want our lives to yield a certain result, we must be selective about the seeds that are being sown.
