Discover how to launch your very own online course so that you can have more freedom and income without wasting time, money and effort trying to figure it all out.
Your Host is Online Course Coach, Johnny Beirne
The discussion with Liam Austin centres around online workshops, both live and evergreen, and their effectiveness in generating leads and paying customers.
The key concept emphasized is the "quick win," a simple yet impactful result achieved within a short timeframe.
The example provided is a 19-minute workshop on obtaining three referrals in three minutes. This quick win builds trust and credibility, making participants more receptive to subsequent offers.
Unlike webinars, workshops do not require a sales pitch at the end, as participants are more likely to engage in a conversation about enrolling in higher-priced programs.
The goal is to convert participants into trusted customers, ideally by charging a fee for the workshop, which demonstrates their commitment and enhances the perceived value.

Pam shares her golden rules for successful webinars, emphasizing the importance of storytelling.
Her first rule is to use storytelling as the primary method of engagement. She recounts her journey from acting to webinars and her initial struggles, where she would have many attendees but no sales. After researching and learning from experts, she tried a new approach in a live stream webinar. Despite technical difficulties with her slides, she made a crucial decision to let go of her prepared content and just talk. In doing so, she began sharing stories, which resonated with the few remaining attendees. One attendee inquired about her program, and she shared information about her eight-week program, accidentally stating the incorrect price. Surprisingly, within 24 hours, out of the ten remaining attendees, seven purchased her program, bringing in a significant amount of revenue. Pam's experience highlights the power of storytelling and authenticity in connecting with audiences and driving sales.

Ep. 14 - Avoiding Overwhelm When Creating Your First or Next Online Course.
Welcome to episode 14 of the Say It Once. Sell It Often podcast, how to create wealth and freedom piece by piece with your own online course. In this episode, we're going to talk about a way to avoid overwhelm when you're creating your first or your next online course. What I suggest is if you have a signature course, in other words, a big topic that you want to become your flagship course, and you're thinking it could be a couple of hours of content in this course.
Then I would suggest that if you're feeling a little bit overwhelmed with creating this signature course, then pick a topic from within the course and record that as a standalone course. You can do this a couple of times and together, those courses can form a bundle that will ultimately become your signature course.

Hello, and welcome to Episode 13 of the Say It Once Sell It Often Podcast. So, it's been a while. I got COVID, it affected my voice. So I wasn't recording podcasts for a while or podcast episodes, but I'm back. Voice is not completely back. If you listen to previous episodes, you might be able to notice the difference, but it's a lot better than it was.
And thankfully I wasn't too sick at all from getting COVID. So that was good. So, in this episode, I just want to talk to you about planning when creating your own online course and a big part of all of this in my experience, in terms of planning, particularly when you're taking on something new is to see what you can stop doing.
In other words, rather than taking on this new project of creating an online course and potentially adding to an already packed and busy schedule, then I would ask you to have a look at what you can stop doing that is not adding as much or indeed any value in your business, or indeed in your life.
Have a look at your working week. If you don't record where your time goals, then I would strongly suggest that you use Toggl, which is a free app. If you actually record, even for a week, where your time goes, not just your working time, but all of your time and just see where there may be, and I would say there should be an opportunity for you to actually stop doing a few things.
Free up that time and use that time to create your online course. So, anything that you can stop doing within your business, then I would advise that you do that if it's not adding any value, if it's not essentially worth doing then stop doing it, that will free up some time. The other way, of course, to free up some time is to subcontract.
It's never been as easy to find great freelancers online, whether you use Upwork.com People Per Hour, Fiver, whatever service that you want to use or platform, please try and find a good freelancer to take over some of those repetitive tasks that you believe nobody can do as good as you, but in reality, they can. Start with administration, create little short videos, instructional videos, showing them step-by-step how to do what you want them to do.
Pay them accordingly. Treat them like human beings. Of course, not like cheap labour. Show them some respect. They'll do it in return. When you find a good freelancer, it's that respect and looking after them that will keep them onside because when you find a good one, it's important to hold on to them the same as any employee or team member.
So that's my advice for today, when you're preparing and planning to create an online course, see what you can stop doing that's not adding value in your life or in your business and stop doing it. And then look at repetitive tasks that somebody else could do for a fraction of the cost.
And yet that's a rate that they're happy with. Treat them with respect. They'll treat you with respect. They are human beings. Of course, you may never meet them. You may never even see them but that doesn't mean should show people less respect just because they're working in a low cost economy.
So that's my advice. If you've ever any questions about hiring freelancers, I've been doing it for years. Please reach out. And if you have any questions about creating marketing, launching, and selling online courses, please reach out. Drop me a voice note on the podcast. Or drop me an email, johnny@johnnybeirne.com - And I'd love to help you out.

Hello and welcome to Episode 12. So it's been two weeks since the last episode. I took a few days off for the holidays. And I hope you're enjoying yours. So in this episode, I just want to let you know that I've been using descript and there's some great videos that I've created about is in the Facebook group, Say It Once. Sell It Often. So, if you want to look up the videos, they're on some tutorials you can do so.
Descript is a great piece of software that allows you to convert your speech to text, but not only can it do that quite accurately, and I'm using it here for the show notes of these episodes. It will also allow you to teach it your own voice, where you can actually type and it will create your voice for you. So it's essentially the other way around. So rather than going from speech to text, it's text to speech but it's to your voice.
An example of being and it's more apparent in the video when you see it. But an example is where you say something and you wished you had said something else, maybe you mispronounced or you said somebody's name incorrectly. Or you simply said something and you in hindsight, wish you had said it in a different way. So, what it allows you to do is rather than, I guess, messing around with trying to insert a new audio clip or worse still having to rerecord the entire piece of audio, you can essentially type in what you wish you had said, and it will replace what you did say but it will replace it with your own voice.
In fact, this entire sentence was typed and Descript said it for me.
So, it's an amazing piece of, I guess, AI. Artificial intelligence. and you know, really, really useful piece of kit, you can take out, um, like that and filler words as well. And you can spot them in the text, in the transcription and when you remove them from the transcription, it will remove them at the same time from the audio.
So, it's a really powerful piece of software. I'm paying for the pro at the moment around $30 a month US, so you can actually do a lot with it for free but an amazing piece of software and definitely worth checking out. If you have any questions about Descript or you want to reach out and talk about or have questions about online course creation by all means pop over to the website, Johnnybeirne.com/podcast where you can record a voice note and send it to me using SpeakPipe. On the website, you can also book a 15-minute consultation where I can address any challenges or questions you might have about creating launching and selling your online course.
If you're listening to this during the christmas period then happy holidays and happy new year and if it's later on in the year then I hope you're well and I will speak to you soon.

Hello, and welcome back. This is part two of how to choose your learning management system. So, as I mentioned in episode 10, I spoke about moving from teachable to Zenler and I also spoke about things to look for in your learning management system. When you're choosing them.
So, a few other things to look at before we look at Zenler. So good learning management systems also let you bundle your courses together as a package. So, for example, you might have a course. A course B and course C, but you can bundle them together and sell them as one bundle at one price and give a discount, rather than people buying them individually. It's a nice incentive for people to particularly when the courses are related. You can manually enroll students in good learning management systems as well. You can do this in Zenler, Thinkific, Teachable. And I also think you can do it in Kajabi. I haven't used it in a while, so I'm not sure on that one.
So, the reason I've moved to Zenler is and in no particular order. Sales funnels is the first one including a very intuitive user interface to set up nice sales funnels to sell your courses. So nice sales pages followed by a nice thank you page and within these funnels you can do upsells and order bumps.
Now Teachable has brought in order bumps as well. I don't know if you can do upsells. But I'm sure the others, if they don't do it they will do it soon. But I can tell you now that Zenler do it. And it's very, very good.
One of the big things that I've been looking for that I still don't see in teachable and it is Zenler and it's another reason why I moved is setting up automatic emails within a timeframe after students enrolled or when they finish a particular lesson. So, for example, if someone signs up for a course, you can automatically email them two days later and ask them how they're getting on. This is all part of accountability and encouragement and support.
But you don't have to worry about it. You can set it and forget it. You can set the email to go out two days after people enrolled. And this happens automatically. You can also email people when they complete a specific lesson.
I'm going to use this when people finish a lesson, that's at the end of a section so that I can congratulate them on finishing an entire section and encourage them to take on the next section. So again, it's all about supporting and encouraging your students to complete the course and automatically holding them accountable via email.
As always, if you have any questions about what we coverin this podcast, please go to johnnybeirne.com . Click on podcast, you can record a voice note as a way to submit your question, or you can book a free 15 minute consultation and I'll definitely help you with where you might be stuck with creating your online course.

Hello, and welcome to Episode 10 of the Say It Once. Sell It Often podcast.
In this episode, Part 1, we are going to look at things to consider when choosing a learning management system or LMS for short.
There are a lot of learning management systems on the market, over 500 based on research that I’ve read. So, why are there so many? Well, I guess. E-learning is hugely popular. Online course creation is a great business to be in, and the popularity of it. From a public perspective it is growing exponentially.
I have used a number of learning management systems over the years.
At the end of November, I moved to Zenler after using Teachable for about six years. I've also used Thinkific and Kajabi.
They all do similar things.
Some then have different features and functionality, which you may want to do a little more research just to see if these additional features are necessary for you.
I’m just going to go through a number of the basics that they all have, that you should look for. And if you're looking at one that doesn't have the following then I would suggest you look elsewhere.
It's a pretty big topic so I’m going to break it into a number of podcast episodes and this is part one.

Ep 7 The importance of values when preparing to create your online course and freedom business.
It’s widely accepted that to enjoy a great life that’s lived with integrity and feels fulfilling, our actions must align with our values. When we’re living in line with our innate core values, this is when we can be said to be being completely true to ourselves.
The great Dr John Demartini states that our values arise from our conscious or unconscious voids – that is, the thing (or things) which we perceive as most lacking in our life.
The void that’s left by the things that we feel are missing from our life becomes the thing that we perceive as most important. In this way, it is signalled as our highest value.
What is your highest value? Let’s take 60-seconds to reflect. Close your eyes and think about what you feel is missing from your life and what, by definition, is most important to you?
Did you find it hard to choose just one thing? If you thought of a few, then make a list and assign each item a number starting with 1 (most important), then number 2 (next-most important) and so-on. That exercise could help bring into focus the thing or things that correspond to your highest values.
Here’s another quick exercise to help you understand your highest values and what matters most to you.
Grab a pen and some paper and put in some time and thought to complete the 4 simple statements that follow.
Admiration
I admire
Name
Because they
Inspiration
I get really inspired when I
Describe what it is you are doing
Because I feel
Describe what is happening
Stimulation
I feel most alive when I
Describe what it is you are doing
Because I feel
Association
I feel most like myself when I am with
Name
Because they make me feel
Once you have done this exercise, ask yourself - does your life align with the values that you’ve identified as being most important to you? Do your answers to these questions suggest that your life feels fulfilled and accomplished and is spent doing the things that inspire you with people you admire? Or are you spending the majority of your time suffering through things and feeling little in the way of joy and fulfilment?

How long should students have access to your online course?
The short answer is this is, it is totally up to you.
Here are the 2 main options.
Life Time Access.
Some course instructors give lifetime access but this typically means that you can't ask questions for the rest of your life
Other people called lifetime access for the lifetime of the course and not the lifetime of the person
My advice is to be careful when giving life chances max particularly if your topic has a changing nature
You do not want students coming back to you by email saying they were misled or misinformed by your course or worse still they tell other people that your course is simply incorrect
Lifetime access is attractive so if you're going to provide it then include terms and conditions.
Fixed Time Period
The other option is a fixed time period. For example, six months or even less
This should ideally encourage people to take action as they don't have lifetime access.

Why should we create an online course in the first place?
Having your own online course allows you to have a freedom business with a passive income.
What is a freedom business?
A freedom business is a business that allows you to do what you want when you want and still have a positive impact with a great income. Unlike an offline business, you are not controlled or limited by time or travel.
What is a passive income?
Profit without being physically present.
The opposite of exchanging time for money, which in my opinion is the worst exchange rate in the world.
Isn’t it all very technical?
You will be pleasantly surprised at how easy it actually is.
And once you create your course, it will be like the client that keeps on giving.
