Exploring mental health topics to support the emotional well-being of today's generation of young people
When dealing with life’s ups and downs, the way we view potential stressors can either increase or minimize the mental pressure that we experience. Stanford University psychologist and lecturer, Dr. Helen Hsu, highlights ways for students to better their mental health through cognitive reframing and other methods to relieve stress and promote a greater sense of inner peace.
Experienced school psychologist, Dr. Brittany Stevens, addresses student stress and strategies on how young people can improve their mental health through self-care and other skills to be resilient in the face of adversity.
On this episode, I share some of my challenges and struggles which led me to creating Shine On. Then, Dr. Marcy Faustin of UC Davis/U.S. Women’s National Gymnastics and Dr. Sarah Merrill of UC San Diego join in to discuss certain physical and psychological variables that impact the mental health issues of today’s young athletes.
