This week, on the Dear Romance podcast, you’ll find out my best recommendation for tracking your wedding payments, due dates and deposits - and why I’m such a spreadsheet nerd (in biz and at home!)
Tracking your wedding payments is necessary to make sure you keep on top of your wedding budget and making sure you’re not overspending. It also helps in making sure you don’t get overcharged or incorrectly invoiced either.
I also dive into why vendors take a non-refundable deposit and drop all the best tips on why you should be reading your terms and conditions and why you’re responsible for tracking all your payments - not us as vendors.

Today I’m chatting through the difference between wedding registries and wishing wells - to help you decide which option is best for your wedding day and what it all involves.
I chat through how online registries work these days and hidden costs you should look out for.
I also touch on how there’s an increased expectation that’s come out over the last 12 months or so that wedding guests need to “pay their way” on your wedding day so you can make some of the costs back that you’ve spent for your dream day… and why this is a poor plan if you’re thinking that way.
Controversial? Maybe, but it’s worth a discussion. If you’ve got an opinion or you think I’m wrong, come chat with me over on Instagram in my DMs. You’ll find me over at @_dearromance

Today I’m talking through the psychology behind weddings and the pressure from society and around us to have the “perfect wedding day.”
We get it from a young age as women - starting with Disney romances, castle weddings and happily ever afters.. But is this just setting us up to fail when it comes to planning our dream wedding day?
I talk through why we are labelled as a bridezillas (a word I hate!) and why our wedding day expectations usually don’t reflect the reality.
I also ask - is the wedding day you’ve planned for you? Or are you doing it for others, because that’s what is expected of you?
It’s a juicy one, so dive on in!

On this episode of the Dear Romance podcast, I flip the script a little and dish out the advice for wedding guests and not just those planning their wedding.
Unwanted opinions and criticisms are a big no-no in my books, yet you are always going to get people commenting about certain elements or choices you have made on your wedding day.
This episode features some of the things you really shouldn’t say to anyone on a wedding day, especially the couple and why you really should keep your opinions to yourself.
Because -
It’s not about you!
You are just person that the couple has chosen (LUCKY!) to spend their special day with, to celebrate their love.
It’s their wedding day, their choice and what you think or feel does not matter one bit.
Prime example currently is all the comments being made about Kourtney Kardashian + Travis Barker’s wedding in Italy over the weekend.
Who cares what dress she wore? She liked it, she was happy with it and her choice and that’s what matters.
Who cares if this is their 3rd wedding? I’d have 3 weddings too if I had that kinda money!

On this episode of the Dear Romance podcast, I put the advice giving to previous brides and couples -
If they could plan their wedding again, what would they do differently this time?
I got a huge response and so I put together a list of the 7 things previous couples wish they had done differently.
They include:
having a smaller guest list
hiring security for their wedding in a public space
hiring professional vendors (think videographers and photographers) rather than using "someone they know" to save a little bit of money
including their dog + pets
... and so many more
Listen now to get an insight into wedding planning from people who have been there and done it all before you!
And as mentioned, here's the instagram accounts I mention in this week's episode:
Shannon @ Walks and Borks
Eve @ Ring and Veil

It's a short and sharp one this week but still a goodie - how do you decide on who makes your final wedding guest list?
In today's episode, I dive into 4 questions you should be asking yourself when considering adding people to your guest list as well as how to come up with the list in the first place.
It's time to think about:
- When was the last time you spoke to that person?
- Does everyone single get a plus one?
- Do we want kids there on the day?
Jump on in! It's a juicy one!

One of the first things I recommend you do when you first start out with your wedding planning is to set the priorities for your wedding day - the things you rank most important as a couple. I call these your non-negotiables.
Today's episode explains why this is a very useful exercise to do before you start enquiring with vendors, why this exercise will also help with budgeting for your wedding and how to allocate money accordingly - and the exact steps to set these priorities with your partner. I also dive into how to navigate this decision when you have different priorities or need to compromise on your priorities.
