In this episode, I sit down with Monique Munday, a project consultant in the field of Management Consulting and Market Research. Monique was the top student for her Master’s degree in Marketing Management at the University of Pretoria and has professional experience in South Africa and Dubai. We speak about what you can truly do with a marketing degree, and the world of opportunities it holds, as well as working in a different city with a different culture and balancing your work, faith, health, and relationships.
In this seasonal finale, we end off with a career chat episode. Chatting once again with Alicia Coertze, who is currently a lecturer and counselor working towards getting into her Master's in Psychology. In this episode, we chat about the journey of becoming a psychologist, and things that are not often spoken about, it can be an incredibly difficult journey but a rewarding one, and in this episode, Alicia is very real and open about the process and her journey thus far.

Alicia is working towards the next step in her Psychology journey, which is to do her master's and become professionally registered as a psychologist. In this episode, we speak to Miss Confidence Tshilande, a civil engineer and the founder of the Prestiio app, Confidence won the CESA Young Engineer of the Year award in 2021 and she has also been named one of the Mail and Guardian's Top 200 Young South Africans. Confidence is heavily involved in spaces that involve empowering, mentoring, and uplifting women and she is also a council and convocation executive at the University of Johannesburg, in South Africa. In this episode, we speak about what it has been like to come from humble beginnings and the aid offered to get Confidence to where she is now, as well as her Prestiio app, focused on safety, creating community, and uplifting women
In this episode, I chat with Alisha Lombard, founder of The Face Aesthetics. Alisha graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Pretoria in South Africa. Soon after that, in the midst of the pandemic, she started her own aesthetics business where she works closely with doctors to curate the best skin care treatments and products. Alisha gets open and honest about how hard it was to walk away from calling herself an engineer and embarking on being an entrepreneur in the beauty industry.
In today's episode, I chat with Dr. Chelsea Aghachi. She chats about the journey of becoming a medical doctor in a South African context. From applying to med school all the way through to internships, and the reality of the broken South African health care system. She poses the silver lining and the magnitude of small contributions that medical interns make in South African communities.
In this episode, I sit down with Kimberley Taylor, the CEO, and Founder of Loop. During her 3rd year studying chemical engineering at the University of Witswatersrand (WITS). She wrote an algorithm aimed at solving the traveling salesman problem. After understanding how it could solve some real-world problems in the logistics space, she raised capital to build Cowa Bunga - the platform that would make operations run smoothly and reliably, all at 23 years old.
Now to date the company has become Loop and has partnered with some of South Africa's biggest food delivery services, from winning the MTN Enterprise App of the year award in 2018, to creating employment opportunities and raking up even more awards since then, Kimberley talks about the not so glamorous side of entrepreneurship as a woman in the industry and opens up about certain personal struggles she identified and overcame on her journey.
In this episode of the She Just Got Going podcast, we talk to Michelle Geldenhuys, the other half of The Geldenhuys' Photo and Film. Michelle has built a successful photography and film business which she now runs with her husband, but Michelle didn't always plan on becoming a photographer. Michelle went through a few academic paths to eventually land up in her calling, after making the toughest decision to drop out, Michelle never looked back. This is her story, and I believe it will encourage many people who don't know what to do with their lives. Enjoy the episode!
