Time to take a break and just relax. These are a few stories and poems to listen to narrated by actress Jane Merrow, even some written by her! Jane has had an over 50 year career, with many credits. Jane received a Golden Globe nomination, when she co-starred as ' Alais' in 'THE LION IN WINTER", with Peter O'Toole, Katharine Hepburn, Anthony Hopkins and Timothy Dalton, Jane has also worked with Patrick McGoohan, Roger Moore, Lee Majors, Leonard Nimoy, Tom Selleck among many others.
This is a sweet poem by an American Poet Sara Teasdale. I am sorry to say I was not familiar with her work, before I read this in a book of love poems.

"Sara Teasdale (August 8, 1884 – January 29, 1933) was an American lyric poet. She was born Sarah Trevor Teasdale in St. Louis, Missouri, and used the name Sara Teasdale Filsinger after her marriage in 1914. In 1918, she won a Pulitzer Prize for her 1917 poetry collection Love Songs."
I wonder how many of you knew of her....she wrote beautiful poetry and I will be reading more of her work in future. It is such a pleasure to remind people, of many wonderful, creative people and their work, who have gone before.

Here's my poem for Christmas this year - NATIVITY by John Donne. John Donne lived at the same time as Shakespeare. They were two of England's greatest poets. John Donne had a rather checkered life, complicated - religion and his marriage, but was a magical poet. The guitar music is by Danish Composer Palle Knudson., whom I found on Pixabay. William Shakespeare wrote his poems and plays 400 years ago and, thank goodness they are still with us. Not only with us, but loved by many people still. What a giant of writing. Sonnet 116 is my favourite...."Let me not to the marriage of true minds"....an honest look at love and its endurance despite the odds. I hope you like it too!

This is an interview I recorded for Jaz Wizeman's podcast series " ITC Entertained the World ", talking about my work for ITC.. This interview is largely about DANGER MAN aka SECRET AGENT, the TV series, starring the great Patrick McGoohan, made by ITC, the company owned by Sir Lew Grade, who brought so many great series to the world in the 1960' and 1970's . I appeared in quite a few. I really enjoyed talking about DANGER MAN and working for ITC, a happy and memorable period in my career. We know Tennessee Williams best as the great American playwright, known for A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE, CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF etc. However he wrote poetry, i could not find its title, but the thread that seems to run through all his work - love, lost love, frustrated, unrequited love, love yearned for is present here as always.

I am an actress, actor, whatever you want to call it! Been doing it for a good few years now and the audience is king. Audience first has always been my motto. Try to give people a little of what I am best at. Podcasting is relatively new and a great addition for a listening audience. I am not clever enough to give tech talks, or investment advice....etc, so I do what I try to do best - entertain. And what better, than listening to poetry and stories? So please continue to listen and enjoy the little break from your world.
I believe that Poetry is good for the soul....brilliant thought technology is, I believe that poetry is infinitely better for our souls!

Award winning Irish author and poet Michael Feeney Callan and I became friends a few years ago, after I read his definitive biography of Robert Redford. I have always been a fan of Robert Redford and his work, as actor and director. Mike's book is a wonderful in depth look at Redford's life and work. I wrote to Mike after reading it, congratulating him and since then, he and his lovely wife Ree have become good friends.

This is a poem for King Charles III 's coronation, written by the wonderful children's writer AA Milne, who wrote "Winnie the Pooh" , remember him ....the little bear. It seems fitting as the late Queen Elizabeth II was rather fond of another children's story bear, "Paddington". I hope you all enjoy this time of pleasure and history ( a thousand years of it) in our challenging world!

In these days of soundbites and the briefest of sentences, the use of descriptive words seems to be dying away. Soon we will be totally monosyllabic and will only use shorthand like LOL, OMG, BTW and LMK. What a pity, takes much of the fun out of communication.
This charming little story by HH Munro, uses plenty of words - adjectives and imagery to get the story across. It is about a man, overwhelmed by his own mental miseries, looking for a rest cure, who meets a young lady with an overactive imagination! Not a good combination!

Thomas Hardy was best known for his country tales of sadness " Tess of the Dubervilles" , "Far From the Madding Crowd". He lived in the South West part of England in the 19th Century and also wrote a lot of poetry. This one is published in "Selected Poems" by Thomas Hardy, edited by Andrew Motion a former English Poet Laureate. A Poet Laureate is an honorary position appointed by the current monarch. The US poet laureate is appointed by the Librarian of Congress. Our history is always fascinating!

This Welsh journalist/ poet had so many names, I just went with his last names! I think this poem is written in tribute or acknowledgement of Andrew Marvell's more famous poem...
