Social Media is about to completely flip on its' head because of Web3. DeSo (Decentralized Social) is a layer1 blockchain built specifically for social media apps. There are some creators already earning $100k/year with only 20k followers.... That may sound confusing, but it's totally game-changing. Developers can build apps on DeSo (there's already 200+ apps!) and create new business models for creators. Youtube and Facebook don't own your content on DeSo...YOU do. It's a total game changer for creator monetization.ย
Thomas and I deep dive into the web3 project Royal.io -- When artists make music today, there are so many layers of middlemen that take a cut of their royalties...leaving very little to the artist themselves. Utilizing NFts and smart contracts, Royal.io create a platform for artists to drop their songs as NFTs to their fans. As a fan, you can purchase your favorite band's NFT and actually own a percentage of streaming royalties. The artists can assign further utility to their NFTs such as back stage meet and greets, shoutouts, and discord access.
Web3 is enabling so many cool use cases and business models. Royal.io is a prime example of how blockchain technology, NFTS, and smart contracts are changing industries around us.ย
NFTs are going to take over our lives in a few years. Being able to prove ownership of a digital asset has never been possible until now.
