Although commonly used as a noun, Bruce views the word Zeus when used as a verb to indicate a sense of growth from the pits of despair and empty vessels of ignorance to mountain tops of hope and knowledge. Topics include philosophy, sociology, psychology, culture, mindset, and everything in between. Interviews with humans from all walks of life are included to broaden our perspectives.

We have all been there - we have been inadequate and incompetent in on area or another. While not a death sentence or an attack on ourselves as good people, it does raise to the light the acknowledgment that those we care about as well as the larger community as a whole suffer when we do not excel where we know we can.

Are you choosing how you respond to events? What would it look like if 100+ people banged on your door first thing in the morning when you woke up? How do cups of coffee that are either hot or cold affect your behavior?
It comes down to priming.
Priming is a phenomenon in which exposure to one stimulus influences how a person responds to a subsequent, related stimulus. These stimuli are often conceptually related words or images.

Philosophy comes from the Greek word "Philosophia" which means 'love of wisdom' - to add to the theme of everything Zeus With Bruce is about will be weekly episodes released every Friday answering a handful of philosophical questions from myself and a guest in under an hour.
This first one was fascinating and reminds me just how different someone's perspective can be from our own, even someone we know very well. Emerson is a great first guest to have for this series as he is one of the more deep thinkers I have come across in my life.

People don't follow the rules, they follow laws ... sometimes!
Here are 3 Laws you MUST follow, or at least be aware of, in order to increase your chances of empowering yourself to improve the quality of your life.
1. The Law of Familiarity - when you get exposed to a certain person, thing, place, or even action for enough time, you become familiar with it.
2. The Law of Reciprocity - when someone does something for you, you feel obligated to reciprocate or do something in return for them.
3. Parkinson's Law- work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion.
No Law is necessarily good or bad but is rather a matter of fact for how life, especially human behavior, tends to work!
Use your knowledge of one of the three this week and see what happens!

What is life, who are people, and who are you?
Your answers to these 3 questions are called your Global Beliefs. They are how you view not only life, and others, but also yourself. What if your answers to these 3 questions are disempowering, destructive, and overall deflating the quality of your life?
Now, it's not to say that thinking more positively will guarantee you are able to get what you want but it does guarantee that you increase the chances that you will.
Give the episode a listen to shift your Global Beliefs and to even learn about Power Posturing that will help you change your state in minutes!

What do you do when you are about to receive information from someone or share information with someone? Like most people, you may take what you hear, run with it, and inadvertently create an endless cycle where the information goes through a game of telephone that does not end up the way it should. The good news spreads quickly but the bad news even faster!
There is a simple framework, and questions, popularized in a story including the great Philosopher Socrates about how to go about this exact situation we go through every day of our lives.
The 3 questions are as follows:
Ask if what you’re about to say/hear is TRUE.
Ask if what you’re about to say/hear is GOOD.
Ask if what you’re about to say/hear is USEFUL.
Try this the next time you are about to receive information from someone who has something to say about someone you know or when you are about to share information with someone about someone they know.

The original 7 deadly sins are lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy, and pride. All of these sins lead to eventual ruin and downfall. However, there is an eight deadly sin that is unfortunately ignored too often which leads to much ruin in today's current world that is driven by the need for attention and connection.
Like Nassim Taleb says in his book The Bed of Procrustes, "You may eventually forgive and befriend someone who harmed you, never someone who has bored you".
Being boring is deadly, avoid it.

What is Learned Helplessness and why does it matter? The term was created by Dr. Martin Seligman to characterize people who feel they have no control over their lives. A person can have acquired helplessness due to one of three types of beliefs:
Personalization refers to the tendency to place the blame for mistakes on oneself. After all, you are the common denominator in all the issues you encounter. Additionally, ideas like internal locus of control and accepting responsibility for our own lives have been taught to us. But where there is confusion is in the line between accepting responsibility and blaming or assigning fault to yourself.
Pervasiveness refers to when a problem in one aspect of your life spreads to all other areas.
Permanence refers to the idea that the issue will always exist and that how awful you are feeling right now will always remain.
Overcoming the 3 Fateful P's comes down to an awareness that these P's exist and reframing how the experience could be Impersonal, Impermanent, and Specific.

How is it that we ultimately decide what is valuable?
What structures in our world shape our decisions?
Why do we prefer what we prefer?
The interaction between Alexandar the Great & Diogenes the Cynic at Corinth creates a strong contrast between two individuals on absolute other sides of the social spectrum. We often fall prey to invisible constructions of how our lives are supposed to be and what we are supposed to want and why. A step back from the constant mindless flow of our behavior and observing this story between ATG & DTC will help us answer some of the questions mentioned earlier in the description.

The story of Sei Weng, the farmer, has its origins in the ancient Chinese essay collection Huainanzi (淮南子) in the early Han Dynasty, more than 2000 years ago. Like many ancient texts, the story of Sei Weng carries on due to the timeless nature of the message that is shared in the parable. The Parable of the Chinese Farmer is one that simply teaches us that we never truly know the consequences of our actions. All we can do is move forward with positive intent and then proceed in stride with whatever the consequence turns out to be.

How to immediately improve the quality of your life is something that is touted all over the internet. While there are plenty of different sources out there with viable and effective information, there is the FMD framework that is used every second of our lives that we must become aware of. This framework, along with the awareness and implementation of it, has shifted the quality of my life and all of the clients I have worked with.
The 3 questions are as follows.
In short, FOCUS, MEANING, DECISION.
Today's episode is a special one due to the nature of the holiday that is all about L-O-V-E. I go into detail about what men can do to fully embrace and capture the attention and admiration of the fair sex. We all desire love yet most people settle for connection because love is too scary. The challenge is that even the best intentions can go nowhere if the right strategies are not in place. In essence, it's like running east and looking for a sunset. It does not matter how bad you want to see that sunset, you will not find it.
The acronym for SUSPECT is as follows:
Seen
Understood
Safe
Presence
Emotion
Capable
Treasured
Share with a friend or a loved one who has what it takes for beautiful and authentic love yet is in need of a strategy on how to get there!
I've seen the sunset and wow is it beautiful.
Whether we like to believe it or not, we are all married. Whether it happened at 5, 18, 30, 40+ we all marry a story, usually unconsciously, and anchor it as our identity moving forward in life. The challenge? We usually, almost always, do NOT consent to this marriage.
In this episode, I give an example of what divorcing a story could look like and the benefits of marrying the truth.
Ask yourself, what does your marriage with your current story look like? If it is all empowering and the truth, carry on. If it is all disempowering and a lie, divorce it and remarry!
