Joey spoke to us about what it feels like to be on the sidelines in our spiritual journey — watching the “game” but not feeling part of it. She reminded us that many people in Scripture began their stories on the margins, yet God drew them in and transformed their lives in remarkable ways.

She highlighted examples such as Elijah, Zacchaeus, Peter, other disciples, and Jonah — people who started in places of doubt, distance, or obscurity, but were brought into God’s purposes with power and grace.

Joey encouraged us to see that God does the same today: No matter where we feel we’re standing, God invites us into the centre of His story.

Matt shared how God has been leading him to speak on Joyful Unity — a unity that is not only felt, but seen, experienced, and transformative.

He described the characteristics of Joyful Unity as:

  • Shared faith and purpose
  • Spiritual fulfilment
  • Community and support
  • Transformative power

Matt closed with a powerful and challenging reminder:

Where joyful unity is present, the world sees Jesus.

Where joyful unity grows, the Church becomes radiant.

Where joyful unity thrives, the Gospel is made visible.

Joey spoke from Nehemiah 8:1–12, reminding us of the true meaning of joy.

We often confuse joy with happiness, but joy is something far deeper — an intense, steady contentment that isn’t shaken by circumstance. With joy mentioned around 400 times in Scripture, it’s clear that God considers it vital for our lives.

Joey encouraged us to see that our strength is measured by our joy, and that real joy is rooted not in ourselves, but in God’s joy.

  • Our joy rests on God’s joy
  • God delights in us
  • The joy of the Lord is the strength we need

Imogen concluded our series “Smash the Idol, Build an Altar”, focusing this week on the subtle idol of religion.

Drawing from Mark 2:23–28, she showed us that religion can appear, on the surface, to be about Sabbath observance. At a deeper level, it’s about recognising Jesus’ authority. But ultimately, Imogen reminded us that true faith is about wholehearted devotion to God — not devotion to religion.

Diane continued our series “Smash the Idol, Build an Altar”, focusing this week on the idol of approval.

She reminded us that every one of us is created with deep emotional needs — security, self‑worth, and significance — and that we naturally seek human approval, no matter our stage or status in life.

Diane gently invited us to shift our focus and find:

  • our security in God’s love
  • our worth in God’s grace
  • our significance in God’s calling

Joey continues our series Smash the Idol Build an Altar speaking about the challenge of 'Self'.

She speaks from Genesis 11 verses 1 to 9. The tower of Babel.

We live in a world of it's all about me, getting human praise and building something for ourselves - live in comfort and entitlement.

Joey explains that when we are at our most uncomfortable we call on God and listen to His voice.

Sam continued our series “Smash the Idol, Build an Altar”, focusing this week on the idol of money.

He reminded us that the real issue isn’t our money — it’s our worship. Money itself isn’t bad; it’s the love of money that takes God’s place in our hearts. Sam explored the story of the rich man in Mark 10:17–27, showing how Jesus calls us to wholehearted devotion: to love God fully and to love our neighbours well.

We were challenged to reflect honestly: What do we worship — God or money?

Choosing God gives us true value, power, identity, and status. Jesus invites us to surrender, not by focusing on the amount we give, but by offering Him our whole heart.

Steve speaks from Matthew 6.

Worry is what happens when control becomes my idol.

Steve guides us through verses 25 to 34, asking us why do we worry, look at the birds v26, look at the flowers v28-30.

Worry is the illusion of control but it can not give you peace.

We can trust the Father with our tomorrow, God gives us the grace for today.

Imogen opened our new series on Smashing Idols and Build an Altar, explaining that each week we will identify the personal idols in our lives, tear them down, and reveal & return to God.

She reminded us that everything is at stake if we don’t fully consecrate our lives to God and make Him our Number One.

Reading from 2 Kings 22, Imogen highlighted how King Josiah chose God even when his forefathers hadn’t. He destroyed every idol in the land and ultimately led the people back to wholehearted devotion.

We were left with a challenging question to reflect on:

If God asked me to lay everything down, could I?

Nicola concludes our series about prayer. She shows us examples of how Jesus struggled to find a place alone to pray:

Mark 1: 9-13,32,35; Luke 10: 38; Matthew 6: 6

In Luke 5 verse 16 we are told Jesus intentionally retreated to pray

Nicola encouraged us to prioritise time in His presence, building habits and learning to be still.

Steve continues our series A Prayer Shaped Life looking at the second half of the Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6 verses 9 - 15.

He challenges us to consider how surrender is letting go of the thing that we hold on to that we think keeps us safe and fully giving it all to Jesus.

Steve speaks about God's daily provision; God's pardon for our debts but asks us to forgive others debtors no matter how hard that is; God's protection when we are tempted to chose love and not be tempted.

Our final question to consider is 'What is the thing we are clinging to that is keeping us stuck?'

View Details

Steve continues our Prayer-Shaped Life series looking at Matthew 6 and Luke 10.

He starts by asking the question - How do we stay compassionate and pray Your will be done?

We are asked to remember that prayer doesn't make us responsible for everything, it makes us available for something. Compassion fatigue looks like still helping but without tenderness; giving but only giving the least. To stay compassionate without being crushed, we need Jesus to teach us how to pray.

The story of the Good Samaritan demonstrates how he did the extra, stayed committed and gave costly mercy. Jesus tells us to go and do likewise.

The outcome belongs to God the obedience belongs to us

Joey speaks to us from Colossians 4 verses 2 - 6.

We are encouraged to devote ourselves to being in the presence of God, spending time in prayer, being thankful and laying everything aside. The more time we spend with God means we will become more like Him and our conduct becomes more Christ-like.

  • Serve as an act of praise - it is an act of worship, no matter what it is, especially when no one sees you serving.

Joey concludes our series in Joshua looking at chapter 10 verses 1 - 15.

As Christians we are in the greatest battle.

Joey asks some challenging questions:

  • What is our response? – Faith, endurance, integrity, proactivity.
  • Who have we partnered with?
  • What do we need to do?
  • Are we believing a lie?

God’s promises stand firm.

Sam continues our journey through the book of Joshua, drawing from chapter 9 to remind us of a truth we all know too well: failure is real, and none of us are exempt from it. The pivotal moment in the passage comes when the people “did not inquire of the Lord.” They moved ahead without pausing, praying, or seeking God’s wisdom. It’s a pattern we can easily fall into—leaning on our own understanding, assuming we know best, and neglecting the guidance found in God’s Word. Self‑reliance can be a subtle but dangerous path.

We are also reminded that we have an enemy who deceives, disguises, and distorts. Because of this, we must guard our unity carefully. Disagreement must never be allowed to take root in harmful ways; instead, we are called to challenge one another with love, grace, honour, and truth.

Yet even in the midst of human failure and spiritual opposition, God’s purposes prevail. The story ultimately points us to Jesus—the One who never failed, never sinned, and came to deal fully and finally with our failure. In Him, we find both our rescue and our hope.

Steve Jefroy continues our study in the book of Joshua, looking at chapter 8 when Ai was destroyed. Joshua's confidence was knocked even after miraculous the river Jordan parting. But he listened to God and moved closer to God to hear His instruction to get up and go again. Steve reminded us that victory is not about strength, it's about obedience.

Shame hides us but Grace finds us and faith grows when we stop hiding.

Diane brings us the next part of our study of Josuha, looking at Joshua 4 & 5.

After the whole nation crossed the Jordan, Joshua called together twelve men to collect twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan. These stones were a remembrance of how God was faithful and kept His promises.

Sam speaks to us about God's rescuing love being more than just simple words, it declares His identity, it cannot change, it's undeserved and He is the source of love. God demonstrated His love by sending Jesus, His one and only son.

Our response is not optional, we are called to love one another, it's not always easy but it's one of the primary ways the world catches a glimpse of God.

  • Accept - know you are loved
  • Ask - who can you show God's love to
  • Act - put it into action, serve when no one is looking

When we love one another, God is visible.

  • God’s Faithfulness Depends on God. If God’s faithfulness flows from His very nature, then it isn’t dependent on us. God doesn’t operate in contracts; ones written with clauses. He operates in covenants; He totally gives Himself to us.
  • God’s Faithfulness Is Demonstrated by Our Salvation. The greatest display of God’s faithfulness is seen at the cross. He has already fulfilled the most painful promise of all; to save you through the cross. The cross is God’s ultimate act of faithfulness.
