It's been a while but I'm back with a great episode of Share Your Health Wealth in the format that I just love to do, an interview of someone willing to share their health story to help others! Yay! Today I welcome Samm to the podcast as we talk about something near and dear to both of our hearts...using our voice to help others, to create a community and to advance the power of self advocacy. Samm presents her own story of multiple health issues starting in early childhood with grace, love and sharing of her path to use her experiences to help others to no longer feel alone.

I am joined by Jen B again for part two of our journey discussions and this time we discuss our take on our parallel path and struggle a bit with what to name it. Is it Spirituality? is it Passion? is it a path toward Enlightenment? Life Purpose? who knows, and really, who cares so long as you maybe learn something or say to yourself "I never thought of it that way before" or are otherwise inspired in any other way on your own path.
With a little bit of some recording sound issues and a fun little mishap of mistaking "lil smokies" with "smoking", we hope you enjoy the conversation and notice that we struggle too when it comes to explaining even our own viewpoints on love consciousness, spirituality and life purpose sometimes.

Join me to learn about Ama and Ojas and how the puzzle pieces of your life can all be digested for your best health. I promise that you will have at least one important "ah ha!" moment. I also share a story that will make any Red Vines fan laugh out loud. It's a real love story.

Join me today for part 1 of Fasting and Digestion. I had to break it up into two parts because I talked for a long time about these two important topics! Fasting is not new, it just has a new publicist and it's getting a lot of attention. I discussed fasting and digestion briefly in my 4 part Insulin Resistance episodes and now we take a deeper dive into both. In part 1, I describe a simple definition of Fasting, what got us to the point of needing to use it as a tool (hint; marketing is one culprit), and the impact on being overfed on our digestion and overall health. I provide the benefits and why I keep doing fasting despite my complaints that my body refuses to release weight (I know I'm not alone in this!) I talk about how to get started and the various choices for Intermittent Fasting and share my own routine. If you've been curious about it or just need that last push of information to get you started, join me for part 1 and be on the lookout for part 2 in two weeks!

in today's podcast I give a bit of an update on happenings since my June post and start to ponder the concept of Consciousness as it weaves it's way through all the focus areas of my career; Reiki, Health Coaching, Mental Health Therapy and Ayurvedic Medicine. I describe something I call "the stop", for many people "the stop" is an external event (usually involving some sort of fear and/or pain which sucks) that brings the train that we call our life to a halt. This usually happens to help us become more Conscious. My goal is to help you to avoid the external "stop" and to perhaps create your own internal "stop" which can be much less painful, both physically and mentally. I provide a few things that you can do to reach that goal and identify 2 danger zones that can keep us on that train, moving a hundred miles an hour straight for the external "stop"

Finally, the story of why I am so passionate about Insulin Resistance comes to an end with the reason I started on this journey in the first place, the connection between Insulin Resistance and Heart Disease. Spoiler, LDL is not the best indicator of Heart Disease and thinking that this number is all you need to know about your heart health is dangerous. Of course it's important, but LDL is not the beginning, middle and end of the story. Travel with me today as you learn about transport vehicles for LDL, the importance of soft pillows of cells and the most dangerous type of LDL out there and it's connection to Insulin Resistance. I share some tests that you can get that will actually tell you what you need to know about your heart health and we end with a short visualization exercise. I hope you finish this journey with me and that it helps you advocate for yourself and your heart.

Today I continue the conversation about Insulin Resistance and move us in to the important "what can I do?" part because there are many ways to take control of your health. I keep on track with the impacts on Insulin Resistance so we talk about what you can do in terms of food, fat accumulation, movement and stress. I also talk about the perfect poop so you may want to make sure you're not in the middle of a meal if you get a bit squeamish about bodily functions! I also explain how a cell enjoys a clean home just as much as we do. Join me in a few weeks for the last installment !

Today I continue the discussion of Insulin Resistance with part 2 to talk about the things that impact and contribute to Insulin Resistance. Join me to find out about the top 4 impacts as we take a bit of a deeper dive on each one. I hope that I help to sort out some confusion around carbohydrates, sugars, and fats and fulfill my ultimate goal of providing you choice through information. I tell a bit of a side story about why I love listening to podcasts (free stuff!) and I can't help myself but to compare the standard American diet to cocaine. It's just too darn easy to do so. I take a quick visit to the past via rice cakes and venture into my present imperfections as I admit to a licorice addiction and eating fries this weekend. We're all in this together!

This is a passion project for me today, to start the conversation around understanding Insulin Resistance. It is vitally important to our health and wellbeing to understand this "buzz word" going around because it is so much more than a fad, so much more than an "IT" word. It is one of the most important body processes for us to focus on and my intention is to explain it in a way that everyone can easily visualize, understand and even maybe chuckle at a little bit. This will be a 3 part series so I do hope you will be interested in sticking with me for the whole series.

In today's episode I am happy to welcome Colleen to the show!  We have some zigs and zags all around a number of issues and I ask you this...where else can you be part of a conversation that includes mushroom foraging, oil pulling, Dental care, spirituality, on-line dating, natural medicines, and an example of how to heal yourself from knee jerk reactions?  Colleen also blows my mind with the correlation between sleep apnea and clenching/grinding your teeth and then disordered sleep for kids too....I had no idea!
And by the way, our grandmothers are sisters!

Have you ever wondered "humm, ahhh, well, what are chakras"? if so, join me for a conversation with myself about some aspects of chakras, what they are, what they have to do with Integrated Reiki and get some tips you can use immediately to assist your chakras right now! (and if you listen closely, you hear Sheamus say hello too, a dangerous murderous leaf must have been blowing too close to the house for his liking)
Of course, it would take a long time to discuss every single aspect of chakras so if you are interested in hearing more, make an appointment with me for Health Coaching or even better, come see me for Reiki if you live anywhere near Ann Arbor Michigan!

Today we hear from Trevor who shares his spiritual journey with us by sharing where he was, where he is now and how he got there. He shares his story of embracing a whole new world that has opened up for him as a result of being ready and open to new experiences, self-love and manifestation, micro-dosing and most of all, reading. He surprises me as I thought the interview was going to go one way and he gives me the 180 turn and goes in a completely different direction than I thought we were going! He is open and honest as he takes us along the ride with him, providing knowledge and wisdom around the beauty of knowing and working on the self.
I can't wait to see where is journey takes him.

Today I interview Jen and she shares with us the work she has done on investigating her complete health journey and the wisdom that has come from that process.  She shares health issues and experiences that are very common to all of us and her insights will resonate with anyone who finds parts of her journey familiar to their own.  She shows how important it is to know yourself, collect your own health data and advocate for yourself in all ways.  The knowledge that she has gained about herself, her environment and her health has transformed her daily actions and she demonstrates that it may not be as hard as people think to create their own transformation.  As Jen states "everyone can change" and she is a testament to that !

today I interview Dan from California and we discuss a number of funny things (like how the food we ate growing up in the 70's and 80's did NOT do our bodies good) to some topics that anyone in the world can relate to such as not thinking of health until something bad happens, to using avoidance like a pro and how a few changes here and there, a few minutes here and there can literally transform your body, your mind and your spirit. As someone who legitimately works 12 to 16 hours a day, his journey will inspire us all. Spoken with honesty, humor and a journey that pretty much everyone will see themselves in, Dan is a true storyteller.

Today I talk about something that has been on my mind a lot lately which is noise.  Noise is not what it used to be, it's no longer really music that is playing too loud, or the TV volume is too high.  We have so much noise to deal with these days, and so do our kids.  There is noise around physical nutrition, who should you listen to? There is our own psychological noise, how do you stop that from becoming anxiety? There is even spiritual noise; how do I know my purpose when there are so many people out there talking about so many different things related to spirituality and a purposely lived life!  Join me to give it all a ponder.

I'm back today to give an update on my health journey as I approach 1 year since I heard the phrase "that right there is cancer". I'm calling my journey 14 days of cancer because I ended up having the best outcome anyone could ask for, but the 14 days between the bladder scope and the surgery biopsy results were the days that changed the next year of my life and beyond. I provide some updates to my new career and also some of the daily habits I have now as a result of my health journey.

A must listen if you or someone you know was adopted or if you are in a situation where you are missing a portion of your DNA story.  The definition of health to JeriLea is expressed so well in this interview that you join with her on her journey while giving thought to your own, which is exactly the purpose of the podcast!
laugh with us as we have a "senior" moment and join us as we discuss anger at having to change what we eat, and ultimately feeling better physically, emotionally and spiritually on this incredible journey that JeriLea shares so openly and eloquently with us all.

In this episode I interview Chy, a "40 something and fabulous" woman from Detroit who is trying to make sense herself of getting older as she stated so perfectly in her application...."getting older is weird"
She shares her story of growing up with influences from her parents, grandparents, aunties and uncles and the messages she received about the love language of food, her awesome definition of health and how she is coping with all these "weird" things that are happening to her.
Chy reminds us to be appreciative of our history, to carry it with us and engage in our present with humor and strong social supports.
We had some significant technical difficulties at the end but I think I was able to edit to keep the amazing flow.
I double dog dare you not to chuckle along with us!

Today's episode was recorded back in June when I was feeling a bit antsy (okay, okay mom, I was feeling impatient!....It's something I'm working on) I was feeling impatient and I wanted to get into the recording studio (my office really) as I was waiting for interviews with other people that were scheduled but not yet recorded.  I tell a story of my childhood where a younger self, who is not Catholic, grows up with close family members who go to Church and what that experience was like.  I then jump ahead to my 20's where I describe 2 experiences that I had which seemed to open up my idea of Spirituality and finally I end with my current relationship with my Spirituality and a fascinating story to go along with it.  I hope you enjoy the occasional shows where you're just listening to me, myself and I.

in the midst of ironing out the rough edges and practicing the use of my new equipment and a new recording platform, my brother offered to help me as my first interview, for pretend.  The result was pretty darn good so with his permission, he became my first official interview.  Sometimes you just go with the flow, allow the imperfect to create a new definition of perfect and keep it movin'....so that's what I did.

In this episode, I start by sharing my own health journey.  This is a starting point for me so it is a condensed version in many ways as I started my journey story just about a year ago.  There are a lot of other life health journey stories to tell and I'm excited to start here and have the opportunity to share more along the way!  I hope that hearing the beginning of my story will be an invitation to you to share yours as well.
