Today we want to ask the question, if you could design your life exactly how you want it to be, what would that life look like? In this episode, we discuss our vision of our ideal life, and how we want to achieve them. This exercise is inspired by the lifebook, a programme that was recommended to me by a dear friend Harsha who had found it beneficial in planning his life goals. The lifebook consists of 12 categories, but today we are doing a more condensed version, and we will go through some of the key categories. We talk about our ideal life visions for health & fitness, intellectual and emotional life, relationships with parents and our career. We are late to the game, but in this epiosde we are going to be reviewing the show ‘Single’s Inferno’!

Single’s Inferno is a Korean dating show on Netflix, the premise of the show is that they put a group of very attractive single people on an island they called the ‘inferno’, which has very basic amenities, which we think is more like a glamping situation.

They can escape as couples for date nights on another ‘Paradise island’ in the presidential suites of a luxury hotel, if they manage to couple up through voting or wining games.

In this week’s episode, we talk about how this show compare to other dating shows that you have watched. We talk about who we think was a more entertaining couple in the show, and gave our honest opinion on the drama between Se Hoon and So Yeon.

Was Se Hoon overreacting? Or, was So Yeon being indecisive and in the wrong?

We talk about the shocking incident of Se Hoon voting for Ji Yeon for the third time for a date to the paradise, and who among the contestants we like to go out on a lunch date with!

Continuing on the theme of love, the three of us decided to look into the famous "36 questions to fall in love" from the New York Times.

These questions were first used in a study to explore whether intimacy between two strangers can be quickly built up by asking each other a series of personal questions. These questions are split into three sets, with each set being more personal than the previous one.  Join us in this episode as we answered a selection of questions from this list to test if we feel closer to each other at the end. It was a fun experiment for us!

For those looking to build a deeper connection with your other half, you can find the questions here (https://www.nytimes.com/2015/01/09/style/no-37-big-wedding-or-small.html).

Happy Valentine's Day!

In honour of the season of love, in this episode we explore the 5 Love Languages, a concept coined by Gary Chapman in his book, "The Five Love Languages: How to Express Heartfelt Commitment to Your Mate". The premise of love language is that in any relationship, we all give love and receive love in different ways. This concept of love language is that there are 5 different ways where people do so: words of affirmation, acts of service, receiving gifts, quality time and physical touch.

Naturally, most of us would tend to give love in the way that we prefer to receive love, and in fact, the idea here is that we can achieve better communication as couples when we demonstrate care to our significant other in a a "language" that they understand. Join us in this episode as we talk about our love languages, explore what it means to be defined into different categories of "love", and whether love languages can be applied to all other relationships outside of our romantic relationships.

*Trigger Warning: This episode contains discussions on mental health, depression, anxiety and suicide. There are some detailed and graphic talk on some of these issues, so before you proceed, listener discretion advised.

Mental health is something that has been attracting a lot of attention in recent years, and over the years, society has become more and more aware of what it means. A person's mental health is so important. It is linked to your physical health and ability to function on daily basis and should therefore be looked after. There is sadly still a stigma around mental health issues, and very often, people who are struggling with their mental health dismiss it as a problem or are even afraid to talk about it, but this is actually a more common issue than we think. In fact, according to the UK Mental Health Foundation, 1 in 6 adults has experienced a common mental health issue in a given week.

Join us this week as we talk about what mental health is and whether society has evolved its understanding of mental health, our experience with mental health issues such as depression and anxiety, and how we have learnt to overcome and manage triggers that may impact our mental wellbeing.

The rite of passage to adulthood for many of us is likely going to college or university. There is a common saying that university is going to be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life; from shaping your perspectives as an adult, a place where you'll make lifelong friends to a platform that builds a strong enough foundation to get you ready for the cold... cold world out there.

As mere teenagers, we were expected to decide on a career path almost too soon. Yet, many of us recall being excited about the prospects of going to university and putting in the work, time and effort to go through the university applications cycle and college interviews.

Join us this week as we reflect on our past decision to further our studies at university, the highlights back in our university days (yes, it's been THAT long) and the silly mistakes we vowed never to commit ever again. Any clue what a TV anchor, a teacher and a ballet dancer have in common? Listen more to find out!

Around the world, the queer community is gaining more and more support, although further education could be made to stop the stigma and discrimination against the queer community’s perceived or actual sexual orientation and gender identity. Whilst the London Pride parade has been cancelled this year, we wanted to explore what it means to be a part of the LGBTQIA+ community 🏳️‍🌈 and in particular what it means to be queer within the Asian community.

Join us and our very first guest of this podcast, Julien, as he shares his stories of growing up queer in Asia. Julien goes by pronouns he/him and recounts his childhood growing up in Asia, including his struggles as he recognised that he may be somewhat different, and his journey on coming out to his family and friends. We recognise how difficult it could be for people within the queer community who may be struggling with their identities and will also include resources/information for those who are looking for someone to speak to and to seek help. Making friends is both an art and a science in itself. We meet so many people in our lives and how many of those connections actually turn into meaningful friendships? People are fundamentally different, and no two human beings are the same. This means more complexities, more drama and more challenges in meeting, keeping and staying friends. Join us in this episode as we share how we became friends and what our thoughts are on the different tiers of friendship. We talk about making conscious decisions to friend or un-friend someone and what our experiences are in making friends in the UK vs. Asia.

Is money the root of all evil or does money make the world go round? Ironically, these two commonly known expressions are very much true despite the obvious contradictions. Today's education focuses on pretty much everything except money management. Money is THE currency, but the lack of education in schools has left most people feeling unprepared or caught by surprise once they receive their first paycheck.

Join us in this episode as we discuss each of our personal finance motivations and goals, how we keep track or our finances and how our views on money has changed over the years.

What is culture shock?

Moving to a new country / city often means getting exposed to new habits or lifestyles that could be vastly different to what we are used to. As Malaysians who have lived/are living in the UK for a significant amount of time, we have taken some time to get used to some of the UK nuances such as the "Yes Please"s and "Thanks You"s, constant discussion about the weather (hey, weather depression is a real thing, believe it or not), initial shock towards self-tanning products, and the most difficult of all, navigating the British humour.

If you've lived abroad in the UK or anywhere else, what were the things you found odd and how have you dealt with them? Make yourself a cuppa tea and join us in this episode as we talk about the things and habits that we found to be simply different while living abroad as well as things that we have grown to love and subsequently picked up! We share our experiences of how we adapted to a different way of living whilst trying to stay true to our own culture and identity.

Asian beauty standards are known to be notorious! From having a V-shaped face to the A4 waist challenge, we as Asian women face an ever growing list of so-called “ideal” beauty standards. Join us in this episode as we discuss our thoughts about Asian beauty standards and the impact of these standards on how we view our bodies. We share our unique experiences and struggles of how we dealt with body image issues and how this has changed over the years.
