In this episode I discuss a new approach that I am trying to take with life and the uncomfortable feelings that pop up which is to approach them with love. My therapist recently suggested a book called Whatever Arises Love That by Matt Kahn. The book is not recovery based but rather a spiritual approach to the world based in love. The way its described is if we can give love to the things inside of us that we don't like it will open us up to loving not only ourselves but the world around it. It will open up my heart that has been so closed off to love due the the trauma I experienced
as a kid that I have carried into my adult life. The timing and the contents of what I've read so far has really hit home, especially around the situations that are arising in my life and the uncomfortable feelings that comes with them. On this journey I believe it's all about learning to show all parts of myself love, not only the good parts that I know that I love but also the parts of me that I don't love. These parts, whether good or bad, are apart of me and need to be shown the love and attention like all the other parts. If I can learn to show love and attention to those uncomfortable feelings the more they come up the less power they will have over me, that's the hope at least. Thanks for joining me on this journey!

In this episode I'm back for a solo session and for the first time ever I'm totally on my own when it comes to recording and editing. This whole episode came with new challenges and opportunities from start to finish. As I embark on a new chapter of my journey I am faced with doing things that I've never done before, and for me that can be a very scary and daunting place. I have a lot of fear when it comes to trying new things, I can often count myself out before I even try it because the tape is "you don't know what you are doing so lets save ourselves from the failure". I really need to challenge that old tape of mine, just because I may not be good at something I'm doing for the first time doesn't mean I cant learn and become good at it. Proud of myself for facing these new challenges and moving through the fear tat surrounds them. On the other side of fear there is an opportunity to learn and grow, it may not look like I want it to but thanks to the program I can look at it and learn from it! Thanks so much for joining me on my journey!

In this episode I am joined by Life Coach Eric DeLong. I was introduced to Eric through a relationship workshop that BAI hosted for its alumni called The Anatomy of a Relationship. In the course we discussed what intimacy is, how we create that with people around us, how we use boundaries to increase intimacy with ourselves, and also looked at the many factors that can determine what someone's capacity is for certain relationships. The relationships that we have in our lives can be anything from romantic, platonic, and even our relationship with our jobs. As an addict and growing up in a home where boundaries weren't taught or practiced, I've found that creating them is very difficult. Thanks to the program I am learning how to create healthy boundaries. Boundaries are there to keep myself safe and in turn when I exercise healthy boundaries I am staying true to myself which then creates intimacy with myself. I want to give a big thank you to Eric for the willingness to come on and share his story! I hope everyone enjoys this conversation as much as I enjoyed being a part of it. Thanks for joining me on my journey!

In this episode I am joined by Melissa Killeen. Melissa is an established Recovery Coach and author who published the book Recovery Coaching- A Guide to Coaching People in Recovery from Addictions. Utilizing her master's degree in Executive Coaching along with her many years of personal recovery she realized the the impact coaching would have for those that want recovery but cannot seem to achieve a balance of work, relationships, family, and recovery. She continues training recovery coaches for certification and works with treatment centers on developing recovery coaching programs for their expanding aftercare program. in 2015 she was presented with the Vernon Johnson Award from the Faces and Voices of Recovery, in Washington DC.
Melissa and I discuss her journey from Real Estate to becoming a Recovery Coach and the aha moment that lead her. One of the things that we seemed to come back to is that recovery is a gift that keeps on giving if you work it. It's so easy to get caught up in the things that I don't have which causes me to miss out on the things that I do have, I like to call that the 99:1 syndrome. Life is still going to happen and I am going to have my struggles, we all do, and if I look at my life now compared to before recovery I am very blessed and aware of the gifts that I do have and that is thanks to my recovery. Recovery truly is a beautiful gift that I have been given to myself, and even though things don't look the way that I want them to right now I'm exactly where I need to be surrounded by the people that I'm suppose to be surrounded by. Big thank you to Melissa for coming on and sharing her experience, strength, and hope. I hope everyone enjoys this conversation as much as I enjoyed being a part of it. I look forward to having Melissa back on. As always thank you for joining me on my journey!

In this episode I am joined by Chelsay, who shares her experience strength and hope. Chelsay and I met last year at a local S recovery retreat, which if there is ever one in your area I highly recommend attending. We touch on a lot of different topics from trusting the transformation down to music and how that ties into our recovery and our circles. During the episode the phrase terminally unique gets brought up. I remember the first time my sponsor told me that I am not terminally unique, which at first I as taken back, of course it was said out of love and not a put down to me. In life we are all different as individuals, however as far as our problems and behaviors we are not terminally unique. So often I can get caught up in the thought process of "nobody will understand what I'm going through so I'm just not going to talk about it, or man I sound like a broken record". All that does is strengthen the core belief that I am alone and that I must do this all on my own. The truth is I am not alone and the more I talk about my problems the more I realize that other can relate therefore it strengthens the belief that I am not alone. Big thanks to Chelsay for the willingness to come on the show and talk recovery, and I look forward to having her back on in the future. As always thanks for joining me on my journey!

In this episode I talk about my religious upbringing and how that has played into my relationship with my higher power today. When I got into recovery the idea of a relationship with a Higher Power made me cringe, I thought I'd have to go back to the same religion that I grew up in. I really struggled and wrestled with this idea. I don't know what changed or shifted, and I realized that my relationship with my Higher Power is just that, MY relationship. In the fellowship it is stressed that in order to have a solid program there needs to be a spiritual aspect. We are spiritual beings, in recovery or out, and it's our job to tap into that spirituality no matter what our Higher Power is. It is very clear to me that today in my life my Higher Power is doing things for me that I cannot do for myself, and I am very grateful for that and give all the credit to my Higher Power. I don't consider myself religious, I am spiritual, and am reminded of a power quote "religion is for people who are afraid of hell, while spirituality is for those who have been there". Thank you all so much for joining me on my journey, here's to healing!

In this episode I get current with what's been going on with me over the last month. Life is going to happen regardless whether we want it to or not, and for me part of that life cycle is finally running into Patricia, of all places the rink where I play hockey. Needless to say the title of the episode says it all, I was completely shook and taken back. I knew that there was a chance that this could happen and also a chance that it wouldn't happen. Other than very surprised there was a whole gauntlet of feelings anger, hurt, discouraged, lonely were a few of them. Even though the interaction was limited and short the ripples that it sent through me lasted for a few weeks and some still linger to this day. The lasting effects that situations have on us need to be acknowledged even if they aren't on the surface and that's where out networks come into play, I need to surround myself with people that I can lean on. In the past I have felt like a broken record with the things I have gone through, and once I voice that I am feeling that way I am quickly reminded that no matter what I am loved and supported even if I have to talk about the same situation over and over and over. If you are feeling like that just know that you are not alone! Thank you so much for joining me on my journey!

In this episode I am joined by Nate Geyer. This is Nate's second time on the show and if you have not heard out first conversation go and check it out, Episode 32 Out of the Flames. Nate and I dig into enmeshment, something that I have been looking into recently. It's important for us to dig into out past and connect the dots, seeing things for what they are helps us see how we have become our attachments whether that's in a relationship or a friendship. Getting into recovery means stepping out of the familiar and into the uncomfortable, when I am in my addiction it's familiar territory and even if I don't like being there I know that place all too well. As I connect the dots the picture is more clear than it has ever been as far as what leads me into my addictions. The more I see these things the more clarity I have around my addiction and what I can do for myself to keep me going back. I must turn the unfamiliar into my new familiar to maintain sobriety and healthy connections. Part of that is having grace and compassion for myself through self love, which I will be the first to admit does not come easily for me, and is something I must practice on a daily basis. I want to thank Nate for coming on the show again and sharing Nate's nugs with us. I hope you enjoy the conversation as much as I enjoyed being apart of it. Thanks for joining me on my journey!

In this episode I am joined by Fish. Fish is an alumni of BAI and reached out and wanted to share his first step on the show, and share his views on recovery. Our first step, in any program, highlights the experience that we have had with our addictions and it is important to also share strength and hope. If we stop with our first step we will never find the solution and the problem with continue. Everyone's first step is different, when it came down to writing mine I got really hung up on it being this long perfectly written story starting with childhood and working my way to present day. For me this was very overwhelming, so I kept it on the back burner. When I talked about this with my sponsor he told me that my first step could be bullet points of things that I had done that stressed the powerlessness over the addiction. Part of my first step was also believing that I am powerless over sexual addiction, and that my life truly had become unmanageable. However you decide to write or present your first step is totally up to you, and the nice thing about the 12 steps is you can work them as many times as you want, and that is encouraged, you may miss things the first time around and that is OK. Big thanks to Fish for his willingness to come on and his vulnerability in his share. I hope everyone enjoys the conversation, and thank you for joining me on my journey!
Keep coming back, it works if yo work it, and you are worth it!

In this episode I am joined by Scott Camp who is a lead therapist at Begin Again Institute and CSAT-Candidate. Scott I met when I returned to BAI in August 2022 for a follow up 5 day trauma intensive. Scott shares his journey of his own recovery which includes taking time away from school to work on himself and find his own healing journey, which led him back to school and into the field of helping those with sexual addiction. It is important for anyone in recovery to take the time to dig in. Recovery can be very selfish, which I have found is a fine line between balance and self-righteousness, so it can be hard to not take the term selfish too literal. As an addict I want everything all the time to be about me, my addictions revolved around that, in recovery it's also about me AND what I can do to be of service to those around me. Sometimes in my recovery it's just as important for me to be there for someone else as it is to get my own needs met, and again it's about finding that balance. Recovery is hard yet simple, which is a term that shouldn't make any sense at all however it's very true. What we deal with on a daily basis in recovery for sexual addiction is hard and applying tools can also be hard, yet when we do we realize how simple it really is. I really appreciate Scott's willingness to come on the show and I hope that everyone enjoys the conversation as much as I enjoyed being a part of it. Thank you so much for joining me on my journey!

In this episode I give an update on how things have been going for me. Part of the work that I have been focusing on is exploring my enmeshment with my mother and how that has affected me and my life. Dr. Kenneth Adams wrote a book called "When he is Married to Mom" where he breaks down how mother-enmeshed men are affected, how it can lead to addiction, and ways to heal. In the book he cites that 40% of male sex addicts are mother-enmeshed men. Reading the book has made a lot of sense for me and my life, so if it's something you think you struggle with go check it out. Another thing that has been working for me is focusing on my life force. Your life force can be broken down into a triangle, at the bottom of the triangle you have your body and what you are doing to take care of it. On the second rung of that triangle is our relationship with those around us, and how we need to put work into those and maintain them. At the top of the triangle is ourselves and the work that we can do to stay connected to ours elf, whether that is journaling or meditating. In my case I like to also put God at the top because my relationship with my Higher Power is key for my recovery. Thank you for joining me on my journey!

In this episode I am joined by Andy. Andy is a sex and love addict who I met a couple months back at a local S retreat and he has quickly become a part of my inner circle and close friend. Andy shares where things began and what eventually lead him into recovery. Love addiction is something I've heard about in meetings but not something I've talked about because I don't believe its something that I struggle with. Andy shares how love addiction has impacted him and his life. Being two single guys in recovery Andy and I talk about dating plans, which is something that I believe needs to be in place when it comes to finding a partner and trying to navigate dating. Through all of the loneliness there is hope. If life is a puzzle our addict is constantly doing whatever he can to hinder that process, by hiding puzzle pieces or just completely throwing the puzzle off the table. In recovery we are rebuilding that puzzle while keeping the addict at bay, through trial and error. Andy ends things with a poem he wrote called "the woman shaped hole". Thanks for joining me on my journey!

In this episode I am honored to be joined by Mark and Angela. Mark reached out to me and asked if I would be interested in having both him and Angela on to hear the perspective of a betrayed partner, which is a thought that I have had since starting the podcast. Mark and Angela have been married for over 30 years, during that time there were multiple discoveries until Angela had had enough and kicked Mark out. Mark was desperate to find help, and with the help of Angela, he found himself at the doorstep of BAI where the journey to healing for the both of them began. Since getting out of treatment for sexual addiction they have both put in the work, on themselves and their coupleship. Their story is a true model of strength and hope, and shows that putting in the work truly pays off and can lead to a very rewarding and fulfilling life which the two now share together. If we want to keep our recovery we must give it away, and that's exactly what the both of them are doing by sharing their story and helping other couples along the way. Going back to the bombed out village to find the nuggets of gold is no easy task, but there is purpose in pain and that purpose is peace and healing. I hope everyone enjoys this conversation as much as I enjoyed being a apart of it. Thank you so much for joining me on my journey!

Happy New Year! After over a month off I get back in the studio and talk about what I've been up and how things have been going. Not recording left me feeling very empty and purposeless. I'm glad that I took the time off and allowed myself the space to see how important telling my story and spreading the message really is to me. If you are like me, the voices in my head can be deafening at times keeping me in doubt, which is not the life that I want to live. In recovery I have found ways to turn those voices down and recognize the lies that are being told in my head. Seeing them for what they are, lies, helps me not buy into them. Beyond that there are actions that I can take to turn the volume down and distance myself from those lies. Some of those are: picking up the phone and telling another person what's going on, prayer, and running. Actions are hard to take, and don't always provide that instant relief that I crave so badly. They are are a step in the right direction and actions equal solutions. I am excited to see what this year has to offer and for the first time ever I've written down goals that I have for this year. What are your goals for 2023? Thanks so much for joining me on my journey!

In this episode I am joined by Garrety. Garrety is the Program Coordinator and Alumni Relations Coordinator for all men's intimacy disorder programs through Begin Again Institute, Boulder Recovery, and ILC Ridgeview. Garrety shares his personal story of rising through the ashes. Recovery is all about actions and solutions, we all gather around the community campfire to share our experience and learn from others. What works for someone may not work for everyone and there are always lessons to be learned. We discuss how we wouldn't change anything. Dwelling on the past and wishing things were different is living in fantasy, it is however OK for me to glance in the rearview mirror so that I don't forget where I came from, and it is a good way to measure where I am at today. Like my addiction my recovery is ever evolving, things were pretty rigid at the beginning and now I am able to find ways of building in healthy fun. Through actions come solutions. Big thank you to Garrety for coming on and sharing his experience, strength, and hope. Thank you for joining me on my journey!

In this episode I am joined by my sister in recovery, Sherry. Sherry and I met through local SCA (Sexual Compulsive Anonymous) meetings. Sherry shares her powerful journey through early life, what lead her to recovery, and gives us the perspective of sexual addiction through a woman's eyes. Being in recovery is like going back to a war zone, digging through the rubble to try and piece things together. This is something that people normally don't do, but being in recovery for SA it's something we MUST do to understand and to heal. Acceptance is a big part of our journey, and for Sherry it was the acceptance that she suffered from sexual addiction, and not that she was one of the only females in a room full of males. Through her search for help and healing with SA Sherry hopes sharing her message will encourage other women to come forward and seek help. This disease does not discriminate between race, age, gender, or occupation and there is help out there for anyone who seeks it.
If there are any women out there who are struggling, want to find help, and support please feel free to reach out to Sherry- sherryscastl@gmail.com.

In this episode I'm flying solo and checking in with how things have been going for me and my recovery. I cover what's been working and what I've been struggling with. When the urge to act out hits it usually means there is a need that is not being met and It is my job to determine what the need is and finding the right tool for that need, however the solution isn't always clear. When the solution isn't always clear that's when I have to lean on my support network and my Higher Power, by making a call and saying a prayer. These physical and mental reps often lead me to a solution and away from my inner circle, and that's recovery. In this process I am showing up for myself and meeting my needs which always feels better than the alternative of acting out. Thank you for joining me on my journey!

In this episode I am joined by Manny. Manny and I met through a zoom meeting last year. Over the course of our friendship we have shared our struggles and victories, Manny has been there for me through some of my lowest moments. Speaking about low moments, this conversation has reminded me that there have been multiple rock bottoms that I have hit over the course of my recovery, and because of those very low moments there has been clarity and lessons learned. By no means do I want to continue hitting these bottoms in order for me to learn however the ones I did hit were apart of my journey to stable happiness. Stable happiness for me is often mislabeled as boring, and that's the addict in me trying to tell me that without acting out or using that my life is boring, but that is a lie to try and get me back to my old ways. Being able to see that as a lie is a huge part of our awareness to the deceit our addict minds try to feed us. This was an awesome conversation! I want to send a huge thank you to Manny for having the willingness to come on and share his journey. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I enjoyed being a part of it. Thank you for joining me on my journey!

In this episode I am joined by Jon. Jon and I met when I attended the 5 day trauma intensive at Begin Again Institute, where we spent 5 days in the trenches digging up our pasts and trying to make sense of the trauma that we experienced growing up and how it has affected us today. There is a certain bond that is formed when you are doing this kind of work in a group. You go from complete strangers to knowing the most intimate details of someone's past in a matter of minutes! Jon and I reflect on our time spent at BAI together from what impacted him the most, learning the hardest part is letting go, figuring out there is something else other than him, and how he has carried these things into his life today. Even with the revelations and the light bulbs that go off during these intense sessions its hard to not get down when things are messy, and recovery is messy. Big thanks to Jon for having the willingness to come on and the strength to share his experience. I hope you enjoy our conversation and thank you for joining me on my journey!

In this episode I am joined by an important person in my life, my sponsor Jeff. Jeff has been in recovery for a number of years and in this episode he details his childhood, what led him into recovery, what keeps him coming back, and the nuts and bolts of recovery. Jeff is filled with wisdom and not afraid to share his journey to anybody that will listen. Jeff's story is a long one and it is filled with a lot of powerful thoughts and motivators from being in and out of the program over the years, finding the will and the strength to make recovery his life, to staying true to himself in recovery. I am honored to have Jeff in my life as someone I can lean on and share my journey with. I hope everyone enjoys Jeff's story as much as I enjoyed having him in the studio, and thanks so much for joining me on my journey!

In this episode I am joined by BAI therapist Nate Geyer. I got to work one on one with Nate while I was at BAI in 2021 and again in August of 2022, and like Matt Wenger, Nate is exceptional at what he does. Nate shares his story from growing up with the struggle of two stories, the first story being what's on the surface and the story that is inside which is a story that is created by our own mind and tells us we are alone. Nate talks about what led him to BAI and what he discovered about himself through his own trauma work. In one way our trauma is like a car that is on fire and inside that car is our little kid trapped, my addiction only pulls him out temporarily only to drop him right back off inside of that burning car. Its my job through my recovery to rescue that little kid once and for all. I hope you enjoy listening to this episode as much as I enjoyed being a part of it. Thanks so much for joining me on my journey!

In this episode I go over the details of my most recent trip back to Begin Again Institute in Boulder, Colorado where I attended a 5 day trauma intensive, that built on what I had learned when I was there a year and a half ago. I was really excited to be going back and I'm really happy that I did. In order for me to progress in my recovery and heal I must commit to the process even through all of the anxiety and fears because on the other side of fear is great reward I just have to take those leaps. While I was there I learned that I've been carrying a lot of guilt and guilt is what keeps me in my addictive cycle. I've learned to really slow things down, and that being mindful of what's going on in my body, where In my body am I feeling these things, and how do those feel physically to me. On top of learning more about myself and how I work I got to meet and spend time with and connect with some amazing guys, and connection is a top value for me. Thanks so much for listening and joining me on my journey!

On this episode I am honored to be joined by Matt Wenger. Matt is the the clinical Director and lead therapist at Begin Again Institute and Boulder Recovery in Boulder, CO, and has worked with hundreds of sex addicts. Begin Again Institute is where my recovery journey started back in February 2021. Matt and I discuss how important it is for sex addicts to get down to the root trauma when it comes to this addiction, how he is able to keep everyone's story organized in his own head, and a new perspective when it comes to future tripping versus dreaming. This was an awesome conversation and really brings the hard work that I've been putting in full circle. I hope everyone enjoys, and thanks for joining me on my journey!

Welcome back to another episode, this time its a solo check in, which I felt like I haven't done in a while. The beast that I have been dealing with lately is fear. For me fear has run my life. From the fear of rejection, the fear of failure, the fear that I wont be able to provide for myself, fear of what other people think, fear that I'm not good enough, all the way down to a fear of dogs. Too many times in my life this fear has held me back, where does it come from and what can I do to better manage and move past it? Even though this isn't anything new to me the resurfacing of it couldn't have come at a better time, because i am going back to treatment for an Alumni intensive. The first time i went to treatment i was absolutely terrified, and this time around the feelings and emotions are the complete opposite. I couldn't be more excited! I'm facing my fears one day at a time. Thanks for listening and joining me on this journey.

In this episode I am joined by a brother from the program Wes. Wes is a part of one of my regular weekly meetings that I have been attending over the last year and a half, and this is the first time that we have really connected outside of the meeting. We both discovered that we have a lot in common from how we were raised to the way our brain functions and how rigorous honesty has set us free. In this conversation it really shows the importance and the beauty of the program and how we get to cross paths with people that we normally wouldn't and just how much we have in common. I am very grateful for Wes's willingness to come on the podcast and share his experience. I look forward to having him back on in the future, because like all my guests there is so much to talk about! Thanks for listening and enjoy!

In this episode I am honored to be joined again by Big Ticket. We discuss his recent breakup and how his recovery has changed now that he is single, and how being single while in recovery from sexual addiction is a tough thing to navigate, the consequences to our actions are different and there is less of a backstop for us when we get into our addictive cycle. Being single in recovery for sexual addiction is something I know all too well and I'm very grateful to have others like Big Ticket to share the journey with. Thanks for listening!

In this episode I talk about a recent situation that really touched me when I saw baby pictures of myself for the first time. In each and every one of us there is our inner child who is still alive and at time screaming for attention and for their needs to be met. Inner child work is an important part of my recovery, he holds a lot of answers for me, and its an aspect that is often overlooked. As an adult its my job to listen to my inner child, nurture him, make him proud, and protect him. I have everything I need to do what others could not do for him. What is your inner child trying to tell you?

As I progress in my recovery there are going always going to be new realizations. After a few tough weeks and some hard conversations I finally asked myself what is it that I really want. When I got out of treatment I had a solid foundation to build upon, and I was building the wrong house for the wrong reason and for the wrong people. What does the house look like that I want to live in, and how do I build that? These questions were very freeing for me, and really put things in perspective. When it comes to moving forward in my recovery I must keep coming back over and over.

While on this journey its very easy for me to get bogged down. Life in general doesn't always look the way we want it to, so how do we change that? Where do we look when we need that spark. On top of not feeling discouraged I've really been wrestling with my spirituality and it has left me feeling spiritually drained, which I didn't know was a real thing until someone else said those words and then it hit me.
As a person who considers themselves an entertainer I'm always looking for that "Goldstar" performance from anyone that wants to hand it to me. When in reality and my recovery I am the one who is going to give myself the gold star that I'm looking for.
This will be the last episode of Season 1 with Season 2 coming soon! As always please feel free to reach out to nolionshere@gmail.com.
Part two of my awesome conversation with Hagrid. I really appreciate him coming on sharing his story and talking recovery with me. As an addict I find a lot of peace in these conversations, they are a reminder that I am not alone.
In this episode I am joined by a special guest and friend in and of the program Hagrid, a husband, father, handyman and an addict. Hagrid shares his story on how he found the program as well as some childhood traumas. Hagrid and I met a year ago thru a zoom SAA meeting and I am honored to have him on to pick his brain. We had such a good conversation that there will be a part 2 and more conversations to come in the future!
Addiction is like a hot stove, I know I’m not suppose to touch it, and no matter how many times I get burnt there is still an urge to touch the hot stove. I talk about some recent victories in my recovery and how those victories don’t always feel great. If there is anything you would like to hear me discuss on the podcast please feel free to email me at nolionshere@gmail.com.
No matter how rocky the path gets, no matter how seemingly impassable the road seems I will be OK. I’ve never really be a fan of the saying “I will be ok”, that statement brings on a lot of huge question marks for me in my recovery. I’m finally starting to accept that and also realize that I’ve gone through a lot and am still moving forward, I’m OK. Please free to reach our if there is anything you want me to discuss on the podcast nolionshere@gmail.com
Pat and I talk more about our time in treatment together, working the twelve steps, and we get current. A real conversation about recovery and how we can get so trapped in our way of thinking. Please feel free to reach out if there is anything that you want me to discuss on the podcast email me at Nolionshere@gmail.com.
In this snippet I share the readings that are read before every one of my home group SAA meetings. Depending on the meeting these readings can vary. These are very powerful readings and great reminders that help keep me on the path. If anyone would like more information on meeting formats or even where to find a meeting please reach out nolionshere@gmail.com
Pat and I met in treatment out in Colorado where we spent two weeks together. Pat is almost 3 years sober from drugs and alcohol and he shares his story of what led him to treatment for sexual addiction. This was an awesome conversation and I really appreciate Pat coming on and sharing his story. Please feel free to reach out and let me know if there are any topics that I should discuss on the podcast nolionshere@gmail.com
In this episode I discuss how I’m trying to control my situation and the turmoil that happens when I try and play god. Addiction is all about control, and in recovery I am taught to let go of control and to be God centered. When I am “I” centered it causes a lot of issues for me, issues that I am quick to forget. As always if you have any comments or want to hear me discuss anything specifically please email me at nolionshere@gmail.com
In this episode I take you thru the holidays and the struggles that came with that and the near misses. The process is the process and it’s something that I must trust. I’ve been struggling lately so it’s taken me longer to get some new things posted. If there are any topics that anyone would like me to discuss or send feedback please email nolionshere@gmail.com
Big Ticket asks the question...if we had to go back and choose between being a sex addict or not which would we choose. We talk about how important it is to reach out when we are in low places and how reaching out might just help someone else out who is struggling. Please feel free to reach out with any comments or any ideas on topics that you would like for me to discuss nolionshere@gmail.com. Keep coming back!
Big Ticket is back for another conversation, last time we talked he was ready to give up Porn. We discuss how that’s been and our most recent slips. We touch on how important it is to fold our recovery laundry. Please feel free to reach out at nolionshere@gmail.com with any suggestions for topics on the pod.
In this episode I discuss my travels over the holidays and how important it is for me to have a recovery plan while I travel. Even tho I’m taking a vacation it doesn’t mean that my addict takes a vacation. For any comments, questions, or ideas for things I should discuss please email Nolionshere@gmail.com
Even when things are going well I need to remember that I am an addict and that the addict inside of me is always ready and willing to show his ugly face. If anyone would like to reach out please feel free to email me at Nolionshere.com.
Patricia and I catch up. I learn a lesson: life happens while we are busy making grandiose plans for it.
In this episode I dig into my childhood and relive a memory that I have normalized over the years. I also talk about the one substance that I am still using.
I come clean about my most recent relapse. I back track to figure out where things went wrong and what I can do going forward to tighten things up. Everything is a learning experience, and for me things are a slow burn.
Big Ticket and I discuss the struggles of his long distance relationship on top of being in recovery, and going public with our stories.

In episode 2 I revisit the first couple days in treatment and read some journal entries, as well as getting current with where I’m at.
