How to Create Instagram Carousels That Get Therapists Private Pay Client Inquiries If you've been posting carousels on Instagram but they're not leading to DMs or consultation requests — this episode is going to change how you structure them.
In this episode, Liz Fernandez breaks down the exact carousel structure that has consistently brought her private pay client inquiries directly from Instagram. Most therapists are already posting carousels, but the way they're structured often doesn't lead someone to reach out ready to work with you. Teaching-based carousels like "5 tips for anxiety" or "3 ways to manage stress" can be helpful — but they don't make someone think, this is the therapist I want to work with.
The carousels that generate inquiries start somewhere different. They start by helping your ideal client feel deeply seen — before they've ever booked a call.
In This Episode You'll Hear: * Why most therapist carousels don't lead to client inquiries — and what to do instead * A 7-step carousel structure that consistently converts followers into private pay clients * How to use your content to build trust before a consultation even happens * Why helping someone feel seen is more powerful than teaching them something new * How to invite the next step at the end of a carousel without feeling salesy
This Episode Is For You If: * You're a therapist or coach posting carousels but not getting inquiries from them * You want a clear, repeatable content structure that actually attracts private pay clients * You're ready to stop creating content that educates and start creating content that converts * You want Instagram to consistently bring ideal clients to your practice
The 7-Step Carousel Structure That Converts: 1. Call out a symptom — name something your ideal client is noticing in their day-to-day life 2. Describe their experience — paint a picture of the small things they're noticing, the thoughts they're having, the worries that come up 3. Name the belief — name what they think is happening or what they assume the problem is 4. Introduce a reframe — show them that what they think the problem is might not be the real problem 5. Introduce your framework or process — give them a glimpse into how you help people solve this 6. Share proof — include a short client story or experience that makes the transformation feel real 7. Invite the next step — invite them to send a message, comment a keyword, or learn more about working with you
When someone reads a carousel structured this way, they don't just learn something — they feel understood. And that's what leads to inquiries.

The Types of Instagram Reels That Actually Get Therapists Private Pay Client Inquiries If you've been posting reels consistently but still not getting DMs or consultation requests — this episode is going to shift how you think about your content.
In this episode, Liz Fernandez breaks down why most therapists aren't getting client inquiries from Instagram Reels and what to do instead. The problem isn't the algorithm. It's the type of content being created. Most therapists are using reels to educate — sharing tips, explaining mental health concepts, providing helpful advice. And while that content has value, it doesn't create the moment that leads to inquiries.
The reels that generate client inquiries do something different. They create recognition. They help the right person see themselves in the content.
In This Episode You'll Hear: * Why educational reels aren't converting into client inquiries * The three elements that make a hook stop the scroll: identity, relatability, and specificity * How one reel reached over 1 million views and brought in new clients — and exactly why it worked * How one of Liz's clients shifted her content strategy and gained 108 ideal new followers and multiple inquiries from a single reel * Why recognition-based content is the key to attracting private pay clients on Instagram
This Episode Is For You If: * You're a therapist or coach posting reels but not getting DMs or consultation requests * You want to understand what actually makes Instagram content convert into client inquiries * You're ready to stop posting and hoping — and start creating content with intention * You want private pay clients finding you through Instagram consistently
Key Takeaways: The three elements of a hook that converts:
When someone feels understood by your content, they are far more likely to reach out. That is the power of recognition-based content.

Welcome to Six Figure Therapist: A New Era for Therapists Who Want to Be Seen, Known & Booked If you've been posting on Instagram and wondering why it's not turning into private pay client inquiries — this episode is for you.
In this first episode of the new era, Liz Fernandez breaks down what she's been studying, testing, and seeing work with therapists and coaches over the last several months. And what she discovered completely shifted how she sees the work she's been doing for the last five-plus years.
The truth? Instagram didn't stop working. But most therapists were never taught how to turn visibility into actual client inquiries. And that one missing piece is what's keeping so many skilled, talented therapists from having the full, private pay practice they deserve.
This episode marks a new chapter — for this podcast and for the therapists and coaches who are ready to be seen, known, and booked with the clients they actually want to serve.
In This Episode You'll Hear: * Why Instagram feels like it stopped working for so many therapists (and what's really going on) * The real reason content isn't turning into consultations or client inquiries * What shifted in Liz's work with therapists and coaches — and why it changed everything * What the Six Figure Therapist podcast is about and who it's for * What's coming in future episodes: reels, carousels, Instagram Stories, and the strategy behind all of it
This Episode Is For You If: * You're a therapist or coach who wants to attract private pay clients through Instagram * You've been posting content but it's not generating inquiries or consultation calls * You're tired of relying on directories, referrals, or mental health platforms to fill your practice * You want a clear, simple strategy for using Instagram to grow a fully booked private pay practice

In this episode of Beyond Private Practice, I’m sharing why belief and safety are actual business strategies — especially for first-gen therapists who are ready to add coaching to their work but feel like they’re starting from scratch.
You’ll hear a powerful story from Karol G that sparked this episode, and how her journey mirrors so much of what we go through as daughters of immigrants: feeling the dream, losing the dream, and needing someone we trust to help us feel safe enough to try again.
I also share my personal story of building a half-a-million-dollar business with nothing but a stimulus check and a whole lot of belief — even when it was borrowed — and how safety shaped every step of my growth.
This episode is for the therapist who:
Here’s What You’ll Learn: * Why belief — even when it’s borrowed — is a valid and powerful strategy * How emotional safety makes it possible to show up, dream bigger, and take aligned action * The truth about adding coaching: you’re not starting over, you’re expanding * A real-life client story of what happens when you let yourself be seen, even imperfectly — and how she booked a consult in less than 24 hours * Why so many of us feel like we have to crack a code — and how to stop playing the game of trying to prove yourself
If you’re a first-gen therapist who wants to feel safer being seen, excited about what you’re building, and grounded in a business that reflects your story and your values — this episode is your reminder that you're not behind. You're just waiting for the support, belief, and permission to do it your way.

This episode is for the therapist who:

This isn’t an anti-strategy episode. It’s a real conversation about why the strategies you’ve been taught might not feel aligned — especially if you’re navigating survival mode, self-doubt, and systems that weren’t built with your lived experience in mind.
It’s not that strategy is wrong — it’s that strategy without identity doesn’t land for many of us. And that’s exactly what I’m breaking down in this solo episode.

This is an invitation to stop questioning your worth and start reclaiming your power. You’re not broken — the tools you were handed just weren’t designed for where you’re going. But that doesn’t mean you can’t build a powerful, sustainable business that aligns with who you are.

Episode Summary: In this episode of Beyond Private Practice, Liz Fernandez debunks another common myth that holds therapists back: “Is it ethical for therapists to charge higher fees for coaching?” Many therapists feel conflicted about setting higher rates for coaching services, believing it may be unethical or unfair. Liz addresses this concern head-on, explaining the fundamental differences between therapy and coaching business models to help listeners understand why higher fees for coaching are justified and ethical.

Liz breaks down why therapists often doubt their ability to run a business, citing fears of not having the right education or experience to manage systems, clients, and marketing. She reassures listeners that they already possess many of the skills needed to run a successful coaching business, like managing client relationships, delivering value, and structuring sessions. Liz introduces two simple, actionable steps to start feeling like a business owner: recognizing and leveraging existing skills and starting with simple systems to manage your coaching clients.
If you’ve ever felt intimidated by the idea of running a business, this episode will empower you to take your first steps toward building your coaching practice confidently.

Are you struggling to shift from only seeing yourself as a therapist to now also calling yourself and seeing yourself as a coach? If you are, then this episode is for you! Today we’ll be exploring the mindset shifts that are going to help you embrace your role as a coach.
One of the benefits of expanding your services to include coaching is that you have so many more options to support your clients. You can prioritize solution-focused work rather than diagnosing work and give your clients tangible guidance that they can use right now. You can also have more autonomy in your coaching style and include decolonized coaching practices in your work. One of my clients uses tarot in her coaching practice and her clients love it because it aligns with their values. This era of transition is all about perspective and you give yourself so much more room to grow when embracing your coaching identity rather than seeing it as something that is making you go backward in your career.

Facing fear is a common human experience whenever we step into something new, but how do you overcome your fears, especially when it stands in the way of your success? That's the question I'm going to answer for you in today's podcast episode!
Sometimes we tend to convince ourselves that experiencing fear or being doubtful means that there is something wrong with us, so we make it mean a whole lot of things about ourselves like "I must not be capable because I'm afraid to take the action, therefore I shouldn't do it."
But instead of doubting yourself, I want to encourage you to explore what is on the other side of that fear. Tune in as I share with you why it is important to share your fears, a single question that will help you overcome your fears, how it helped me confront my fears, and more! Lista? In today's episode, I talk about something that I'm passionate about - why mental health professionals should not feel ashamed to charge premium prices for their services.
As a Latina therapist turned coach and multi-figure entrepreneur, I've seen firsthand how guilt and shame can hold you back from charging premium prices. But did you know that as Latinas, we experience the largest pay gap, earning only 54 cents for every dollar a white man earns? If not now, then when will we finally break free from this cycle and start valuing ourselves and our services?
I believe that undercharging perpetuates the pay gap and does not serve our communities or ourselves! That's why in today's podcast episode, I share with you three reasons why you shouldn't be ashamed to charge premium prices as a mental health professional turned coach. Lista? Let's get into today's episode!
Topics covered on Charging Premium Prices: * How can charging premium prices as a mental health professional actually improve the quality of care you provide to your clients? * What opportunities can arise when you have the financial freedom to give back to your community and pursue your passions? * Why should you shed the shame and guilt associated with charging premium prices as a mental health professional turned coach? * How can the mindset around pricing and receiving more money transform your coaching business and life? * What steps can you take to create your identity as a booked-out coach and double your income in the process?

Let me be frank with you - the only reason why you are not fully booked as a therapist is because you haven't been actively marketing and selling your services. It's not that you lack the skills or ability to market yourself (trust me, as a Latina, you have a natural talent for sales that you may not even realize). As a therapist, you were trained to be an employee rather than a business owner. You're used to having clients come to you without much effort on your part, so it can feel uncomfortable to promote your own services. However, it's time to let your community know that you are available and accepting new clients! In today's podcast episode, I will share 5 effective ways to actively market and sell your services as a therapist. Lista? Let's dive into today's episode!
Topics covered on Actively Market & Sell Services as a Therapist: * The importance of actively marketing and selling your services as a therapist. * Tapping into your expert energy and believing in yourself. * Embracing your enoughness. * How to attract your ideal clients through your passion? * Why do you need to share your personal journey and transformation with your community? * How can I help you actively market and sell your services?

When you are starting your coaching business and/or private practice, many Latina therapists feel like they should be further along on their journey. I'll be honest with you; it's a challenge that often leaves you feeling vulnerable and questioning your every move. Maybe you feel like what you're doing right now isn't enough, or you fixate on things that haven't happened yet despite all your efforts. You're not alone.
It's a common experience, especially in the early stages of building a business. I understand your frustration. You pour your heart and soul into this, only to feel like you're stuck in one place. But what if I told you that you are right where you are supposed to be? What if I told you that wonderful things are coming to you, you just need to be a little more patient? Let's talk about the belief that is holding you back from doubling your therapy income: the belief that adopting a coaching identity will hinder your credibility in the mental health field. I've noticed that many Latina therapists are interested in expanding their business models to include coaching but hesitate because they doubt the credibility associated with the title of "coach." Instead, they endure heavy caseloads, overwhelming administrative tasks, burnout, unfulfilled promises, and low rates.
It's time to shatter that belief! The truth is, by embracing both your roles as a therapist and a coach, you will double your credibility in both the coaching and mental health fields. As a Latina therapist, there are countless opportunities for you outside the therapy room. Lista? Let's dive into today's episode and unlock the possibilities awaiting you!

One of the biggest fears I coach my clients through frequently is being listed in the ‘Therapy Burn Book’, yes, like the infamous ‘Burn Book’ from the movie Mean Girls. As Latina therapists, we were programmed from the very beginning to avoid anything that could lead to malpractice risk, and to always follow the therapy rulebook.
While I admire and applaud you for being a great therapist, I want to ask: at what cost? Because if you are feeling burned out, exhausted, and secretly wishing for clients not to show up for their therapy sessions, that’s not fair to you. You deserve better. That’s why I want to invite you to join me in today’s podcast episode as I share how being a ‘good girl’ therapist can negatively impact your life, share stories from clients who extended their offering into coaching and now live a world full of possibilities without sacrificing their health.

What comes to mind when you hear the words "coaching" or "coach"? Many of my clients say, "What? Me? Coach? No way!" How could they shift from therapy to coaching? After all, coaching is a completely different field...or is it?

If you are familiar with psychology, you probably heard that 90% percent of your thoughts are reoccurring. But did you know that 90% of your thoughts are NEGATIVE? Imagine the impact it has on you when you are transitioning into something new, like becoming a coach or adding coaching services to your business model. If you are telling yourself stories that do not serve you and letting the mean girl in your head take the wheel you might easily slip into the mindset of ‘life is happening to me, rather than life is happening for me.’

I decided to take a heels class. I think you can tell just from the first sentence that today’s podcast episode will be different from other episodes, but I promise you it will all make sense in the end. I see many Latina therapists who have been putting off starting their coaching business or introducing coaching to their business model because they are afraid, feel intimidated, or get stuck in a comparison game.
But here is what I want you to know: everyone that you are inspired by, started not knowing, started even when they felt doubt, started even if they were embarrassed, started even when they wondered what people would think. The beginning of your entrepreneurship journey can feel messy and so uncomfortable. It test's you in so many ways. But being willing to be a beginner is what can help you create everything you've ever wanted.
In this week's episode, we talk about the willingness to be a beginner. I share how I stepped out of my comfort zone and did something that I had been putting off for years due to fear of being a beginner, and how it relates to your first years in business. Many Latina therapists believe that attracting coaching clients is hard. They think they will have to show up on social media every day, give up their privacy, and just the thought of talking about their services makes them cringe. It feels like a completely new world they have to step into. It’s not surprising if you feel the same way. As a therapist, you are used to your supervisor handing you a long list of clients, so obviously, finding new clients is not your top priority.
But guess what? Attracting coaching clients doesn’t have to be hard. In today’s podcast episode, I teach you how to attract coaching clients as a therapist, what things you need to start implementing in your business so clients come to you. When I talk with Latina therapists who want to introduce coaching services to their current business model, they are often afraid of being unethical. If you identify as a Latina therapist, you probably have a lot of resistance around the idea of building your personal brand online, selling, and marketing your services. Your feelings are completely valid because as Latina therapists, we are trained not to self-disclose. So of course, the idea of showing up online brings up a lot of resistance. But here is the thing.
Self-disclosure not only helps you to build trust with your community but also, increases your income, and develops invaluable skills. Do you know what is one of the biggest blocks for therapists who want to introduce coaching services to their business model? The belief that if they charge high ticket prices, their services will become inaccessible. As Latinas, we are taught that it's unethical to charge more than $75 per therapy session. You probably think that if you charge high ticket prices you won’t be accessible to serve the community that you feel passionate about serving because they don’t have the financial resources to afford your services.
All those thoughts are beliefs that you internalized, but they are not true. So if you are a Latina therapist or counselor in the mental health field, this podcast episode is specifically for you. I talk about how you can double your income in private practice as a therapist by starting your coaching business and five things you need to focus on if you want to double your income so that you can live the quality of life that you really want to live. If you are familiar with my story, you know that I graduated from one of the top universities in the nation for therapy work, especially when it comes to working with Latinos. If you are a therapist and you love the profession, you love the work, yet you feel extremely burned out, and you’re questioning whether this is a field that you will want to be in for the rest of your life, then this podcast episode is for you. When I talk to Latinas about starting a coaching business, lack of time is one of the common reasons that hold them back from taking action. And I can relate to that because as first-generation daughters of immigrants, we hold on our shoulders this invisible workload of translating documents, booking and attending doctor's appointments, filing taxes, holding space for our family, emotionally supporting them, and the list goes on. We are being pulled in so many directions, so we feel like we have no spare time on our hands. But the truth is that often we use time as a cop-out in our culture.
That’s why in this podcast episode, I share with you my experience of starting a coaching business while being in grad school and having a full-time job, how I recognized that I was using time as a coping mechanism, and how you can start your coaching business in less than just five hours a week regardless of how busy you are. I would be lying to you if I said that I was super confident in my decision to start a coaching business and that I was ready to tell everyone about it. Because I DEFINITELY was not. A lot of fears came up for me and the comments that I received from my loved ones made me doubt my decision of becoming a coach.
When you are in the early stages of building your business, you are in a very vulnerable space. You might not want to tell your family, friends, or partner because you are afraid of their reactions. And I want you to know that you are not alone. It’s very common for new coaches to feel that way.
