About Bruce Chamoff

Bruce Chamoff is a multi-instrumentalist who plays piano, saxophone, guitar, and bass. He has been writing songs since the age of 11. He has 5 albums on Spotify and 27 singles to date. Check out his music at https://open.spotify.com/artist/4lZgvTWEAkTnPQbtvNUctm

MasaHY (pronounced "mɑsə eɪʧ waɪ") is a beatmaker based in Tokyo. He started his music career as a hip-hop club DJ in the mid-90's and has about 15 years of experience. From his experience as a club DJ, he not only has a keen eye for the latest music trends, but also has a deep knowledge of R&B, Dancehall Reggae, Jazz Fusion, Disco, and Funk. He follows the beatmaking style of 90's Hip Hop and uses the "Akai MPC" as his main equipment. He specializes in creating grooves reminiscent of sampled sounds using DAWless methods. He re-samples the sound material he plays to create his own loops. In 2021, he released his long-awaited debut album "The Art of Soundscape". In recent years, he has been actively fusing diverse musical cultures through collaborations with many Afro and Caribbean artists, and is expected to grow as an international music producer.About MadFocused: You’ve been warned: Madfocused is here to stay and applying pressure—pushin’ p!
Following the release of their first collaborative project in 2023, they began conspiring to solidify a group:
The two solo artists LuchyVal and JK22 had already worked together and generated their synergistic flow when the spunky lyricist, LeNoira, zapped in and balanced out the now genre-blending trio,”I love our sounds together, we can come across as zany; yet being so free-spirited, and unconventional is what helped us also become a solid team and great friends— we understand each other so well”.
MadFocused doesn’t wish to box themselves in, they like to push boundaries. While they often roost on the playful, and spirited side of things, they are quite layered, real, transparent. their latest releases strut boldly into another area of expression: these songs are hot-headed and sharp with delicious drama—

About Mike Owocki

Mike Owocki is a Lo-Fi independent artist producing all original material across multiple genres, including Pop, Rock (light), and jazz, w some crossover to country/folk.

And of course, we'll touch on our latest endeavors, including the creation of an AI component for our podcast network and our upcoming interview on Cast Magic with Greg Wasseman.

So grab your headphones, sit back, and get ready to learn from one of podcasting's rising stars. Let's dive into this episode of "Become a Successful Podcaster" with our special guest, Reena Friedman Watts of the Better Call Daddy Podcast!

Who Is Reena Friedman Watts?

Reena Friedman Watts began her career in radio while in college, working at an NPR station. Despite taking on early morning and unwanted shifts, she embraced the opportunity to learn every aspect of the medium, from loading features to singing and playing with the equipment. Over the next two decades, Reena worked in various areas of media, including reality TV and behind-the-scenes production. Three years ago, she started a podcast with her supportive father, who encouraged her to pursue her dreams. This venture eventually led her back to radio, where she now hosts a weekly show on Cool FM, featuring the best episodes of her podcast, the Better Call Daddy Show. Reena emphasizes the importance of creating a portfolio or air check tape, showcasing one's work and abilities, especially in today's marketing and business landscape. She believes that a podcast is an excellent means for individuals and brands to demonstrate their capabilities.

Artificial Intelligence is everywhere. And it is taking over everything from social media, to search engine optimization, to Google searches, to medical billing to all types of crazy environments. I was curious about what a I actually thinks of podcasting. I also mention Temu in this episode which I started using. You can download a lot of great podcasting equipment from Temu, so shop like a billionaire.

I asked him questions like what exactly is podcasting?

Now, you pretty much know what podcasting is because you're a podcaster. But I'm very curious about what it looks like to artificial intelligence. I went on to the very famous, most popular AI tool called ChatGPT. And with that, I asked him a bunch of questions like What is podcasting? And what type of equipment do you need to podcast? I think that's really cool. What artificial intelligence actually thinks podcasting is because people are going to websites like ChatGPT are actually asking it all types of crazy questions.

AI will help you create everything for your podcast, including show notes, blog posts, and even social media posts.

And what's amazing is that if you ask him for something original, it will definitely give you something that has not been published in another blog post, or social media posts like Facebook, or something on a Instagram post, or even a tweet on Twitter, which is now called X from Elon Musk.

So if you want to know exactly what podcasting is, from an AI point of view, listen to this episode.

I'm going to go to chat to GTP and I'm going to ask him what podcasting is. I'm also going to ask it, what equipment I need to podcast. If you think you have all the equipment. You may not have to hearing this. I'm going to go ahead and read to you what it says.

I'm going to read to you the exact text that's given to me by AI. And you can compare it to your own definition.

And this is going to be a really fun episode. I'm also going to ask artificial intelligence about other things that you can do for your podcast in the future in future episodes. And that includes and that includes, how to market your podcast and how to use a podcast network like the world Podcast Network. Here we go. We also play some really cool music, including rock, pop and hip hop. I have a new song coming out on September 16 on Spotify. It's called push me again. And I also preview that as well.

I listened to a really cool episode from 2018 on the School Of Podcasting website with the podcaster influence Dave Jackson who I met in 2006. My episode was in response to some of the aspects I heard from running a podcast from everything including:

  1. Is a podcast network a business or is it run for fun?
  2. The work involved in running a podcast network
  3. Is a podcast network like a blog ring?
  4. Some of the business models for running and monetizing a podcast network
  5. Other points

Hey, this is Bruce from the New York City Podcast Network and the world Podcast Network, helping your podcast. Get out there, market yourself, brand your podcast, monetize it and grow your audience. We are helping you succeed with your show. If you haven't started your podcast yet, this video, I'm going to explain to you how to get into podcasting real fast without a lot planning and still succeed. If you liked this video, thumb up. If you have any questions or comments, leave the comments below. Definitely, I want to hear your questions, I want to hear your comments. And if you like this channel, subscribe to your channel.

I market almost 800 podcasts now. And I've helped podcasters get started from scratch from nothing and help their shows succeed. And I can do that with your show. In this video, I'm going to help you get the tips and tricks you need to get your podcast out there fast. Maybe you're thinking of starting a podcast, maybe you're in the middle of setting up your podcast and you're at a crossroads or blocked somehow. I'm going to help you get through it, but you want to get your podcast out there and you want to get it out there for free. Okay, I'm going to give you the best way to start your podcast the fastest way for free again, some of the video. First of all, let's talk about recording the audio for your podcast. Do you need to buy a microphone like this one. This one costs about $120. This is a Samsung microphone, you don't need it. What you do, it does sound better with a microphone like this. You can simply Podcast with your smartphone. Your smartphone has a great high res microphone. It comes with recording software. And that's it. Right now. I am using a Samsung Galaxy S 10.

It has a recording for audio not this particular one that you're watching on the camera, but it has an audio recording software and just start podcasting right into your phone. It's the sound quality is great. Okay, there's nothing about like you know, you can get that little nasally sound. If you have a good phone. And most of the phones have good microphones now, you can actually get your podcast onto the audio of your phone using that Recorder app. Okay, almost all of them coming in. Samsung comes with it. Right? The Microsoft smartphone comes with it. Okay, iPhone come to you. They all do. You already have the microphone, you don't need to spend $125 like this one. But it is better. If you do have a microphone like this, I will tell you, when you get the base, you get a lot of cool little audio tricks that you won't get with the phone. But if you don't have the money, you don't need to spend it. Okay, let's talk about hosting your podcast. When you get the audio done.

Hopefully you'll have an mp3 that you'll be able to share on your platform. You want to get the audio up there so that people can download your podcast and listen to it. So the next thing I'm going to talk about is hosting your podcast. And there is a free tool out there that not only doesn't cost you any money, but you make money and that is anchored on FM. Okay. anchor.fm is owned by Spotify, you can't get any better than Spotify, Spotify, you can't get your podcast onto directly you need to go through anchor anchor.fm, which I actually use for my audio podcast is amazing. Because you get the video podcasting with anchor, you get monetization tools, you get ads that go right through the anchor network.

As a matter of fact, when you get started with anchor, you can immediately have an ad, okay, they give you an ad that you actually recite over your audio, and they pay you for that every time somebody listens to that.

What's the fastest way to edit your podcast? Let's face it. Editing podcast is a very boring task. It makes people not want to podcast for that particular reason. Now, if you want to edit your podcast, you can first of all, do it very quickly. For free on you can just download Audacity or just Google Audacity. It's not audacity.com. So you Google Audacity. It's a free podcasts editing tool, your upload your mp3. And it's easy. If you want to, first of all get into podcasting, and you haven't started your podcast yet, you want to do it quickly, you want to do it for free, I have another video, you can actually look at the link below where you can actually just see it here. In this particular video. Now, I want to help you succeed with your editing of your podcasts because we both know, we all know that editing podcast is boring, it's tedious. You want to farm it out. We have a bunch of editing services right? On the marketplace on New York City Podcast Network slash podcast dash marketplace. So definitely look there. Also, if you haven't podcast, and you want to sign up for free, that's exactly what you're going to do. Sign up for free on a New York City podcast network, you can upgrade for a lot of cool services, but it's always free. All right now, editing podcast, you can do on Audacity, again, search Google for Audacity. And what's interesting is if you can actually see in your video, you can see an audio, you can see the little waveform, right, where you're talking, there are very big waveforms, it's basically those triangles. But if there's a space, where you're saying, um, or ah, or any of those filler words, right, that you we hate listening to other people go on those, you can edit those out. Because when you're talking, the waveforms are very big. When you're saying, um, they're very low, right? So you got that you can take your mouth, slice out the filler words, slice out the ums, slice out the ahs. My big problem is I say, you know, and I never even hear myself saying it until after I listened to the recording. I say, you know, blah, blah, blah, you know, about you know, you know, you know, is really annoying when I play it back. And I can't imagine people listening to that and saying, Hey, this guy's annoying because he says, you know, all the time I edit those out. Okay, you can leave some arms in there, you can leave some eyes in there. Because it's natural to say those things when you're talking, when I have heard podcasts where every five words sometimes there's an accent and and it's just annoying. I also don't like when somebody says and all the time. For example, we started a podcast and and while they're thinking about what to say they stretch out that answer and stretch out, edit that out. You can see that the waveform is very small. Right I have a video that you can see on how to edit your website with I'm sorry, your podcast with Audacity, check that video out. Now. Other ways of editing your podcast is you can do it strictly with the audio. Right? You do it with Audacity, right but you also can edit out the wording. There are really cool services out there that will just edit out anything you can do you don't know yourself. In other words, you don't want to listen to that podcast. You've already recorded it. You have already listened to it, you're tired of hearing your own voice. I know, I'm tired to hear my voice. So I hire other people to edit my podcast because I just can't listen. But if you don't have the money to do that, and you just want to edit yourself, you can do it. Okay. Any podcast is very important...

Remember that if you're on LinkedIn, LinkedIn has very good search engine rankings. So you want to get put all your podcast liner notes on LinkedIn. And likewise, all the social media that you can, if you can put your liner notes right on Facebook, you can do it as well. And Google will pick one of those up eventually, if not your blog, or your anchor, or Buzzsprout page. That's important. And again, we're talking about keywords now, not meta tag keywords, because Google doesn't really use those anymore, but just put as many keywords into your audio when you're recording your podcast, and also into the liner notes for your blog post or LinkedIn post, or whatever.

Welcome to another episode of become a successful podcast and with Bruce Chamoff, rate us on Apple, hey, we're talking about search engine optimization for your podcast, and how to get Google rankings. You want to get more subscribers and more people subscribing to your podcast and rating you on Apple, and just interacting with your podcast in general, most of us have websites, and most of us have search engine optimization strategies to get better Google rankings for our websites. We're always worried about keywords and meta tags, and what people have to type into Google or Yahoo or any search engine. In order for you, your website to come up higher on the search engine rankings. Most web masters and website owners know about SEO, search engine optimization. Are we concerned about that for our podcasts, maybe you want to just get more people coming to your site and your website, you just want traffic?

Well, maybe you want traffic to your podcast as well. And whether your podcast is on Buzzsprout or anchor or Lipson or any of those popular podcasting platforms, you want to come up in Google, my podcast comes up in Google, if you search successful podcaster, at least for me, it might not for other people, depending on where they are in the world. But you want to come up as high as you can. And you need to know what those keywords are. If you have a YouTube channel, there's also such thing as Search Engine Optimization, or SEO for YouTube channels and videos. And you have a place in the YouTube interface for tags. Tags are basically just keyword.

Well, you can do the same thing with your podcast. First of all, you need content. And I don't just mean audio content, I'm talking about words that Google can find and actually index for you. You can get that directly from the your show notes. Each podcast hosting platform has their own limit as to the number of characters you can have in your show notes. I suggest you use them all. And you can even use somebody to transcribe your audio and put it directly into a blog format. Because if you have a blog with your podcast, which podcasts used to do in the beginning, you will also find that Google can also rank those particular blog posts. But you can you don't need it. Because you have a blog built in with Buzzsprout, or anchor or any of those podcasting platforms. The strategy is how do you actually use those to your benefit to get Google rankings?

Well, here we go, my friends, I'm going to tell you exactly. First of all, as I said before, max out the number of characters that you have, get to the max, it doesn't matter if you put in your your podcast audio as a transcription, and it gets cut off, max it out and have as many keywords in there as you want to for people to find you on the search engines. Technically, nobody cares about any search engine other than Google these days. When I first started building websites in 1995, I was optimizing for Yahoo. Google wasn't around yet. We had WebCrawler we had AltaVista, we had all those. Those aren't even around anymore.

Hello, you got Bruce become a successful podcaster. And on this episode, I want to reveal what I have found as the most popular podcast categories of today. Right now. It is summer, July 2022.

And being the owner of a podcast network that has hundreds of podcasts and over 32,000 episodes, I know what the most popular categories are. It's not just the categories that people are looking for. It's also the ones where people are actually producing as podcasters themselves. Now I see the podcast episodes update every single day on our podcast network, the New York City Podcast Network, soon to be the world Podcast Network, which right now you can go to either one NYC, podcast network.com, I see a lot of the same types of podcasts coming out on top of the most recent episode section.

Okay, now let me just I'm gonna reveal these to you in a little while. But just remember, if your podcast is not in this particular range of categories, don't worry, because I see that every single month, it seems like different categories changed, like popular categories actually change. And if your podcast is a part of one of these categories, then kudos to you, you have cracked a mystery that a lot of podcasters are trying to figure out right now. And of course, there are categories that will always be on the top of the list no matter what month it is, just because these are very popular. subjects that talk about people really want to talk about specific subjects, and they really will do their best to make whatever it takes to find new subscribers, very important. Now, this particular podcast of my own becomes successful podcast, I really have no idea what category I fall into. But I know that a lot of podcasters I speak with our business people, and they want to learn how to succeed they want to they want to actually be successful with their shows and their businesses as leaders and entrepreneurs and business owners. So I can tell you right now, I always get a very big visit from people who are looking for business podcasts, because I see the analytics that come over on the podcast network.

Yes, we do keep analytics. Keep in mind that I know that whether your podcast falls in these popular categories or not, you don't have to worry about it. Because just keep on doing what you're doing. Because there's always there's always somebody who wants your category. I'm not saying that your categories are not good. I'm just saying that. It's just not one of the most popular. But regardless, we've seen all types of weird categories coming out. When I say weird, don't think about weird, I'm just saying it might not be your exact particular category that you're looking for. So what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna take a quick break right now, play a couple of messages, and we come back we're going to actually we're going to reveal these for you. All right, well, I feel these

What are the most popular podcasting categories.

Welcome to become a successful podcaster with Bruce Cham off. I'm here to help you become more successful podcasting, like us on Apple podcasts and rate us leave a review. I always review back as well. Give me a podcast, you can reach out to me on the New York City podcast networks, contact form at NYC podcast network.com. Also, if your podcast is not on the New York City Podcast Network, and we're becoming the world Podcast Network in fall of 2022, you can sign up for free now. In this episode, I am going to answer a question that I get a lot. And that question is can you learn the podcast by listening to other podcasts and preferably in your space? In other words, if you're a business person and you want to do a business podcast? Should you listen to other business podcasts? Or can you listen to any podcast? It doesn't matter what the category is? But the main question is, can you learn the podcast just by listening to others? I'll be honest with you, I became a better podcaster by honing my podcast my skills, and also reading the book in 2005. Introduction to podcasting from blueberry networks, Todd Cochran, but I think I became a better podcaster when I just listened to other people's podcasts. I think the book gave me a good starting point. But it didn't really make me the podcaster that I am right now.

Today, it actually was kind of like a springboard for the equipment and the software and all that. But nowadays, you don't need all that you can simply podcast on your phone. You don't need all that expensive equipment. Now, I know that when I'm listening to other people's podcasts, I get a lot of questions. And those questions could be do I want to guest? Do I like the energy? Do I want to co host like season one I had Megan and Megan will be on some of my episodes. Now in this season as well. You need to just listen to podcasts, listen to as many as you can. Because listen, I'm also a musician. My music is on Spotify, you can look for my music search for Bruce Cham off on Spotify, and my music is lately it's been pop up. But I used to do rock. And I'm trying to break into pop music from rock. And this is just an example I'm not really going off on a tangent. When I listen to other musicians, I don't really listen to them on Spotify.

I listen to them on SoundCloud because SoundCloud seems to have more of the artists that I'm looking to be like, but then I take the same music, and I produce the music, I write a song that's very similar, change a few things like core progressions, and instrumentation. And then I put it out on Spotify. But when I hear these songs that really grabbed me, I know that I want a song just like it and it could be anything and that song that makes me want to come out with a similar song, a single, like the energy. Sometimes there's just the energy I love that's going on with a particular song. It's either mellow energy, or it's a lot of energy and think about this for your podcast, I want to actually have a song that has that same energy, or maybe just the same type of guitar solo, it won't be the same notes, but it will be kind of that vibe coming from the guitar solo, or the backing vocalist or whatever, or even the lyrics but more for me, it's I'm more of a music writer than I am as a lyric writer, although I do both.

Now for your podcast. You want to do almost the same thing, so what you want to do is listen to other podcasts. It doesn't necessarily have to be in your space or your category. You can come out with a podcast that is the same type of energy. What is energy? What is that vibe? Is it coming from a guest or is it coming from a particular host? Do you want to be the host that you're listening to? Right? That's actually a good one become The host that you like the most on another podcast, maybe you need a co host, like I have Megan, or maybe every episode, like a lot of podcasts has a guest.

Should you always podcast from your current location?

All right, you got Bruce and Megan. Hi everybody, buddy. We are traveling. We're on location in Malibu. Malibu, California. We're doing a whole Los Angeles trip here at the Hollywood Beverly Hills and we're living good baby. Yes, we're here. Yeah, we're just doing some podcasting on location. And we are at Nobu, actually right outside of Nobu. The famous sushi restaurant. Started by who's who founded originally David Hasselhoff. I don't know David Hasselhoff has been involved in Robert De Niro right now he owns it. Yeah, I gotta tell you. I've never been in Malibu before. And I'm a big Two and a Half Men fan. So no, we're just watching Two and a Half Men all these years, and seeing and hearing all these sites from the show now actually being there, which is pretty cool. And we're right on the Pacific Coast Highway. That's where Nobu is Nobu, Malibu. And, hey, we want you guys to be successful in your podcast. So, you want to travel, you don't just want to always be in the same location. Right? Megan? You're absolutely right. You want to be you always want to go to different places and just be at your studio on time, because you don't want to bore your audience. You always want to be in a different place as well, so we are in Los Angeles this week, were in Malibu, we are in Rhode Island. Right? You see a little helicopter over there. We're right over. We're basically close to Pacific Palisades.

There's a very loud helicopter here. But you definitely want to tell your audience when you're going to different locations. And just take out your phone. Take out your microphone. Record a whole podcast episode in that location, right. Oh, you're absolutely right. But yes, amazing, folks. You're gonna check out the west coast here. We're from the East Coast, but this is beautiful here. Yeah, Malibu weather wise. You can't get any better. Can you Bruce? No, I can't No, but what's your thinking that food Megan and it was it was delicious. Tacos Rice's. Oh my goodness. Yes. It was like $10 for like a tiny little taco. Yes. Like lobster taco. Yeah, seafood restaurant. And I had this house special sushi roll. It was like a rainbow roll was more like a Maki Maki Maki. And then I was mocking mocking mocking. Now that was a that was Brian George and Seinfeld. He goes MONKEY, MONKEY, MONKEY. And other goes to helicopter. It's pretty cool. I've never been to this area of California. Megan's been there.

Yesterday, we met Denise Richards, ex, the ex wife of Charlie Sheen. And we took a picture of her. So we're going to actually put that in the show notes of this particular episode, which is really cool. We had a lot of good time. And now we're on the way to Santa Monica. So we're going down to Santa Monica, right, Santa Monica, Santa Monica, we're actually going to take root 10 West, but we decided to just try through one on one. And now we're actually we're just on the way to Topanga State Beach, which is in Pacific Palisades. And then we're going to go on to Santa Monica. So we want you guys to anywhere you guys travel doesn't really matter. Take out your microphone, or your phone and just start recording a podcast episode. And tell your audience where you are. Because people love the variety know that. Hey, listen, we want you guys to enjoy this podcast and want to bring you more so rate us on Apple. All right, right. It's on Apple week. We're now in season two of become a successful podcast and we got a lot of great episodes for you. So we got this ad over here with their horn over and over again. And that's it.

This is a beautiful area. I'm so happy to be here my first time. All right, Megan, you want to say anything. Goodbye, everybody. Goodbye from sunny California. Goodbye from the West Coast. And we'll be back in New York in a couple of days. All right. Love you all. Read the sun apple. Talk to you soon. Bye bye

Roswell - Final Flight was written by Roswell native Holland Nelson and Hugh Macdonald who moved from Great Britain to Los Angeles recently.

Holland who wrote the lyrics has always been interested in the 1947 crash in the desert outside of Roswell and asks the listener to consider the possibility of life in other universes, perhaps attracted to our own planet by the 1945 detonation of the first atomic bomb not far from the crash in the Roswell desert.

For people who really really dig your podcast, you want to reward them with something, right? It's leaving comments on your YouTube channel, you really want to leave another comment and give them like a coupon code.

That coupon code is coupon codes, let me tell you a very big marketing strategies. And so our expiration dates, but give people a an episode, if they actually pay for the premium content. And but you can't just say, Oh, I got this episode. It's a premium one, you can pay me $10. And you can get access to it right now. Because you have to give people the free stuff to write. So what you do is give three episodes away for free. And the next one is paid. And how you take that money is completely up to you. If you pay pal, it could be a credit card, it could be both it could be whatever. What's the other one? Venmo. The one that begins with with a V, it'd be the Cash App is a lot. But PayPal works the best because a lot of people have PayPal. Now. You can't as I said, just say I want to give you a premium content or premium episode. And you pay me this money and I'll let you in people will take you seriously. Right has to be a little bit when people spend money. It has to be a little bit more methodical.

You got that one episode, you have identified that one episode? What kind of episode is it that you want to give away for free? Right. The first thing you're going to do is you're going to Google that particular episode and see if anybody else is talking about it. Because you want to give away unique content, something that only your podcast can give away. Okay, go to Google Google Trends, and just the regular Google search bar and search for it to see if your idea has already been taken by another podcaster and if it has, move on to the Next episode, what you're trying to do is sell something. That's the only content they can get through you.

In this episode of become a successful podcaster, I interviewed Antoinette Blake, otherwise known as the Delaware Blogger. She also calls herself aka. d. e. diva period. She is one of the most active podcasters I know, period, it was a pleasure to interview her and to find out why blogging is so important for podcasters in all the benefits that blogging brings to your podcast show. Period, she has been a longtime friend of me and Megan. And we needed to do a whole episode with her. Because what a lot of podcasters do not realize is that blogs bring a lot of benefits to your podcast period, you can blog with every single episode, period. And the easiest way to do that is to use a transcription service period. You can take your mp3, upload them and have them transcribed automatically. Period. When that happens, you get an automatic SEO, or search engine friendly version of your podcast that people can actually Google with all types of keywords and meta tags, period. But she also has released a book. One book is on Amazon and one is on book patch. So if you want to know why blogging is so good for podcasters comma, then check out this episode of me and Antoinette, the Delaware blogger

His company provides a content management system, where podcasters can enter all of their information for their episodes, and have them automatically show up through their RSS feed period. So you do the work once, and then the platform just does all the rest of the work going forward period. I talked to john about different benefits of having a mobile app for your podcast period.

However, john is also into philosophy, and he enjoys talking about philosophical concepts. So we talked about some of the items that john likes to discuss during the philosophical conversations period. Let me tell you a little bit about Frank Sasso in his podcast period. He is a licensed therapist.

His podcast is called the anxiety therapist podcast period, because I love public speaking so much. Facebook and Instagram, we're down on October 4 2021, and it just came as I was setting up a new social media scheduling tool with buffer.com, and when I set up my Facebook and Instagram accounts, on buffer, unfortunately, what happened was, they wouldn't allow me to connect or authenticate, which is what you have to do. ., I had no problem connecting LinkedIn and Twitter. Because they of course, were not down. I was also thinking of connecting with Pinterest.

Buffer allows all of that. However, when I went to connect with Facebook, and Instagram, comma, unfortunately, I was stopped with error messages, and I immediately blamed buffer. I tried literally three to five times thinking there was a problem with my own Facebook and Instagram business accounts, because you need to have a business account and the Facebook business page in order to authenticate on Instagram. That was unfortunately not the case, but I did get mad at Buffer and immediately I started looking for alternatives,. Add to that, that I also had my mother's birthday yesterday and early in the morning, I did go on, and we're sure a happy birthday and wrote a very nice birthday wish to her. She called me and she told me that she was very appreciative of what I wrote, and she thanked me. I of course found there was no problem with Facebook.

When I went on Buffer a few hours later, I was shocked because I was able to post something earlier on my mother's Facebook page, so you can see that I was very frustrated that I couldn't even set up a social media account. I can only imagine how many other business people and entrepreneurs as well as podcasters felt the same way or thought that the same thing.

In this episode, Megan and I talk about what happened on Facebook and Instagram and how your podcast was affected. It's my mission to make podcasts successful and help podcasters succeed with audience growth, social media is very important for social gatherings, and growing your audience. Without social media, you will not grow your podcast or your audience or subscriber base, so we need social media. We especially need Facebook and Instagram, and we need to keep on growing our audiences on both those platforms.

I don't see podcasters using Twitter, Twitter anymore, as much as they used to. . but we do use LinkedIn, so I immediately went to LinkedIn and started posting a lot of stuff there, so in this podcast episode, I'm talking about how it affected your podcast, and if you had a marketing impact ., you can also answer the question. Thank you!

In this episode, I talk about how to make a single host podcast successful. Let's face it, it's not easy to have a single host podcast and keep the attention of your audience period. I also talk about whether or not having guests actually works. For your podcast success period, it's important to know how to keep the attention of your audience during your podcast. Because single host podcasts are very difficult to stay attentive with, again, and keep the audience from tuning out period. That is why a lot of guests appear on podcast. So they can actually break up the monotony and boredom of a single host podcast.

I listened to a lot of podcasts with one host. And it's hard for me to stay tuned, because a lot of them sound monotone period, they have a monotone tone of voice. And it comes out boring. So in this episode, I'm going to give you a lot of the tips and tricks and strategies. And what works for me when I'm doing a single host podcast. And how I keep my audience interested, even when I don't have another co host or guest period. Sometimes I have Megan hope, as my co host, sometimes I don't. And most of the times, I do not have a guess. So it's important to be able to find other ways to keep people interested in your content and keep them listening and not being bored.

I made a lot of mistakes like this in the past, I have learned to correct them because I did lose my audience. But now I no longer do. Or now my audience participation has gone up. And now I have less people who are tuning out because of all the things, the strategies I learned when I was actually creating my podcast without a guest or a co host period. If this is you, and you do not have a guest or host for your podcast, comma, it may be a good idea to take these tips and tricks and strategies and put them into your podcast immediately from your very next episode. Period. I hope that you find a lot of good gems in this episode and that this benefits you in a nutshell some of the ways of keeping audience interested is playing some background music while you're podcasting, comma playing full length songs even if the copyrighted period, I will explain the concept of podsafe music for your podcast. And that's it.

Please review us on Apple and enjoy the episode.

On this episode of become a successful podcaster, we talk about the art of digressing. And whether or not it has benefits for you and your podcast as well as your audience. We also have special guests. A little more, the power key and veteran co host Megan hope as we play with our parakeet and recorded all audio, period. I wish we actually had a video of this, but we digress in this particular episode because that's what digressing is about for your podcast, we talk about how often you can digress, and if you can actually digress at all on your podcast. And will you lose audience members, or will you break up the monotony of the same topic, over and over again for your podcast, period.

We also go through. Not only just having fun, but we podcast them outside with other birds as we're surrounded by our birds as well. And we also talk about the upcoming episodes as well, and have a lot of fun. Every once in a while, you can have fun, bring on animals onto your podcast and other people that might not relate to the topic, but we just introduced a parakeet as a new podcaster, and this my friends is very exciting for all of us. I love that.

Oh, the thing is that Megan and on hope really appreciated, bringing on a parakeet. So enjoy the podcast and review us on Apple.

In this episode of become a successful podcaster, I start a brand new series called Q&A, where I take an audio question submitted by a podcaster, who wants answers to a particular situation? I also realize that these questions are on the minds of a lot of podcasters. So I'm not just answering one podcaster I miss answering many podcasters and the questions initiated by one, which is really cool, because I get to understand what people are thinking and what they want, and what their issues are. Period. I talk to Professor Pete Alexander, of the winning business podcast in this episode, and he talks about questions about why he has lower audience lately. Even though the quality of his episodes have gone up. His editing, production quality has gone up, and even the quality of his guests have has gone up.

However unfortunately, the audience and the market is telling him that something needs to change further than everything improving with his podcast because his audience is shrinking. And it has caused him to stop podcasting for a while and not put up any podcast episodes. So we have to find out what's going on. And Pete wants to know what he has to do the either look into a root cause or two, find a solution or both. Because let's face it, your podcast. Audience growth is the most important thing. Period. This is the beginning of the series of Q and A that I get from audio from podcasters. And I know that this will be the first of many period, I encourage you to also send me your audio and you can go to boot camp off podcaster calm so you can actually submit your audio question. Enjoy, and I hope you enjoy this podcast episode and get some answers that you need. If you have a similar situation with your podcast.

In this episode, I want to explain why blogging is probably one of the best marketing and promotion tools for your podcast, period. There are so many different reasons and benefits to blogging about your particular podcast episode at a time period, I talk about a lot of the ways that blogging will help you.

Even if you are not a fan of blogging or writing large articles, because in order to get your podcast out there. It is best to have at least 15 to 2000 words on your blog posts for each website. There are tools out there that transcribe them for you, like, otter.ai, and some other transcription services. It is an amazing thing to blog and I really hope that you take away all the great ideas in this particular podcast episode.

If you are into just podcasting, there can be some amazing ways to promote your blog posts like search engine optimization is one of the biggest reasons why you want to have a transcript of your podcast episode, the spoken word from your podcast episode is one of the best ways to create a search engine friendly version of your podcast episodes. And it's really just a matter of taking your audio and importing it in and using one of the amazing services to do the transcription for you. I started doing it with becoming a successful podcaster, and I am enjoying the rewards of getting more traffic back. And this was the way that podcast started back in 2005 When I started the first podcast network on Long Island. And that was where everybody had a blog post, because you get an instant RSS feed. See my episode on the RSS feed. And why that also helps you with your podcasting.

Although this is an audio podcast, you can watch the video presentation on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fkdd1HPTTsk

On June 26 2001, at the PodKnow 2021 conference, I spoke about the power of RSS feeds for your podcast, and how they really help your podcast grow. If you want your audience to grow, and you want new people to hear your content of your podcast, including every single episode from the very first one, no matter how long you did it to every future episode, the RSS feed is the most powerful marketing tool you'll ever need. And the most important thing to note, it is free. In this presentation, I not only talk about the RSS feeds for your podcast, and how to grow your audience with them. I also talk about Seinfeld and friends, Arrested Development and a lot of the sitcoms that were reruns from the 90s. And how syndication has not only helped those shows, grow even more.

Remember that Seinfeld was on Hulu, but also, that the RSS feed is about syndication just like all of these TV shows. And you if you can recall, that syndication puts TV shows in other locations other than their original channel when he went to primetime. So you can absolutely use RSS feeds to take the same benefits of syndication as all the sitcoms. And just remember that iTunes also uses RSS feeds to show your content because you never need to upload your content of your podcast episodes to Apple or even Spotify. Because if whether you have anchor, or Buzzsprout, or if your podcast is hosted on Lipson or pod bean, the RSS feed is available from all those podcast hosting platforms. And it takes your content and puts it out on other people's websites, including Spotify and Apple iTunes, or Apple podcasts.

That's the beauty of the RSS feed. And in this video, I actually show a presentation as well. So check out the video on YouTube as well. But if you're in your car, and you're listening to podcasts from your car, while you're traveling to work, you can also just listen to this presentation from the audio and you'll still get the benefits that I'm trying to give you in this podcast. So definitely watch the video. But if your podcast is hosted by Anchor, Buzzsprout, PodBean, Libsyn or if it's it's even on Apple iTunes, Apple Podcasts or Spotify or even Stitcher and iHeartRadio. Your RSS feed puts your episodes on all of those. So check out this episode. And please rate us on Apple podcast.

In this episode, here is a brief summary of what we are covering.

Before you monetize

Audience growth:

  1. I suggest having at least 20 episodes - That gives your audience some credibility for your podcast that it is actually providing content on a regular basis.
  2. Have at least 50 people in your audience. Anchor also provides ads that this level so they practices this rules as well.
    1. Also, the larger your audience and the more they are hearing your episodes, the faster the money comes in. There is nothing more frustrating than trying to monetize your podcast and watching the money drip in with only a few cents per week. That frustration alone causes podfade and feels of failure. It also results in many podcasters completing hanging up their podcast after only a few episodes.
  3. Publish at least 2 to 3 episodes per week.
    1. You can podcast directly on your phone.

Now, when we return from these messages, I am going to tell you how to start monetizing when you acocmplish these steps above.

  1. https://www.advertisecast.com/
  2. Ask for sponsors.
    1. These sponsors do not need to be big fortune 500 companies that have offices in every country of the world. They can literally be local companies who can sell their products and services to consumers worldwide on their websites or social media.
  3. Ger monetized directly from your platform. Anchor and Buzzsprout also pay you for ads, but I do not have enough information yet on if this happens enough. I will tell you that as I put out these episodes of Become A Successful podcaster and I see my episodes getting more views and listens, I see the monetization balance rising pretty quick and usually after I put out a new episode.

So, we were waiting to board our plane at Las Vegas McCarren International Airport and we decided to start podcasting while waiting. With all of the commotion at the airport including screaming kids, loud carts being wheeled around, and of course, the annoying PA announcements, we wondered how successful we would be podcasting at our gate. This is a funny episode since we kept pausing every time a PA announcement came on. We flew Delta Airlines' first class service and review that as well.

Everybody. How you doing? I want to thank you all for subscribing to our podcast we only started a few months ago, and for the great reviews that we're getting from people now, if you haven't reviewed us on Apple, please do. We want you to be successful with your podcast. And today's topic is about becoming successful by using Apple podcasts and why it is the most important platform of them all. Even more important than anchor buzzsprout. And even Spotify. Yes, Spotify? Well, you got to talk about it. First of all, whether you have an android or an iOS, people have iTunes in the iTunes App for their phone. And they have it on your computer.

Now. The thing is that Apple podcast, if you're not on Apple podcasts is very important to be on there. And for a couple of reasons that we're going to talk about. Now. Let me just backtrack to a very basic fact here. Apple podcasts or excuse me, apple, iTunes. Remember, they started the iPod, and iPod is the word that started it all for podcasting. Megan, I got to ask you a question. Now Apple also came out with the iPad. So if you listen to a podcast on the iPad, is it called podcasting? No, it's not called pad casting. No. So still a podcast?

Yep. If you listen to in AI, excuse me, if you listen to a podcast on an iPad, it's still called pod casting. Not pad casting, right. You're right, Bruce. That's funny. So first of all, they started the whole thing. Okay, the iPod. People were just putting their spoken word on the iPod. And Apple started that. And when people bought the iPod way back, I think was 2005. They were actually getting iTunes with it. Now I tunes what really just played music. Okay, it really didn't do much with podcasting. I was gonna say podcasting. Eventually, they did add pod casting, I believe in 2009. And in Spotify fall soon everybody follows suit. Now Netflix is also going to have pod cast as well. But it all start with Apple. Now, most podcasts should be on AI, excuse me, the iTunes keep saying the apple pod cats, because they allow your subscribers to review you and leave a rating. And I know that for a fact that even in my last episode, I said that when people are looking at your podcast on Apple podcasts on iTunes, I was caught myself there. They are scrolling right down to the reviews.

They see the number of views, they scroll down, they make sure it's five or five, even four or five. Okay, and they're looking they're reading. People are actually reading some don't read, because they don't have the patience to read. We know that. But they're skimming the information. Right. Now I know you do that. Right? Maybe you when you look at a podcast, you actually on Apple, you actually go down and look at the ratings. I always do. I think a lot of people do. I think a lot of people do right now because I love to look at ratings. I don't know why it's something No, you enjoy looking at ratings. You know if people like the podcast, yeah, it's great to read the ratings.

But Apple smart though. Yeah, they put it on the bottom. Okay, on but on the iTunes on podcast on apple.com. They put it on the bottom, on the iTunes app, they put it in the reviews and ratings tab. But either way, and you know, people can get it that way. And I know that people are constantly using the reviews to see how good your podcast is. That's why it's very important. And let me tell you, it's just the name apple. I mean, you got Spotify too. You got Joe Rogan just had a $1 million deal last year with Spotify. Okay, that means you can't be an iTunes But still, iTunes is still much bigger. I don't care if the Joe Rogan podcast is on Spotify for a million dollars, you know, so you need to get on there. Spotify is easy to get on to Apple's a little bit harder because Spotify goes right

Let's face it, the Apple Podcasts platform is one of the most important podcast platforms or pod-catchers. Why do I say that? It is one of the only podcast platforms that allow people to rate and review your podcast and that is important for your podcast's growth. If you want to build an audience, you definitely want to stand out among the competition on Apple Podcasts.

Unfortunately and to every podcaster's frustration, Apple Podcasts likes to show your competition on the bottom of every podcast episode listing. That makes it easy for people to click off your podcast and onto a competitor of yours. These competitors are positioned by Apple as the "TOP" podcasts. That position alone makes your potential subscribers click off your podcast. You may loose that subscriber forever as most subscribers do not bookmark their favorite podcasts. You actually need that bookmark.

How do you beat the competition on Apple Podcasts and get more people clicking on your podcast?

Is it the headline of each of your podcast episodes? Is it the name of your podcast? Is it your podcast thumbnail?

I explain all of this and answer the question in this episode.

  • How can podcast introductions scare away subscribers?
  • How can we use podcast introductions wisely to attract new ones?
  • Some of our favorite podcasters and what they do correctly in their introductions.
  • Should we use music in our podcase intros?

We would like to know if you agree or disagree with our philosophy on using podcast intros. After listening to our podcast episode, do you now think your podcast intro is scaring away subscribers or attracting them?

On the Become A Successful Podcaster, we are a part of the New York City Podcast Network and LatestPodcastEpisodes.com and are proud to me listed on them as well. They are amazing ways to market your podcast and find new audience members.

We also debut Bruce's new rock single Shock Value on SoundCloud at https://soundcloud.com/bruce-chamoff/shock-value-2 - Follow Bruce on Spotify and listen to his music at https://open.spotify.com/artist/4lZgvTWEAkTnPQbtvNUctm

This is Bruce. And this is Megan become a successful podcaster. And we're talking about intros, and do they scare your subscribers away? Now, let's just have a real loose conversation about it. We're sitting here, I'm eating my potato blends and drinking coffee. And Megan's got oatmeal and Gatorade. So, Megan, flat out, do the intros, every single episodes, the same one scare subscribers away? Well, you know, I've been listening to a lot of the podcasts on the network. And I hear this intro. And somebody had an intro that went on way too long. And I waited, then they had their verbal opening line. So every time they open their podcast, they give the same introduction about themselves. Well, I looked at it was practically two minutes with the intro music two minutes with the intro music in the verbal Hi, I'm such and such, and this is such and such. And I'm such as they were talking about themselves introducing themselves, every single podcast, but every podcast they did was the same. Same intro the same intro but two minutes is too long, I think. Yeah, I mean, that's good time where the podcasts are can be talking about whatever their episodes, it wasn't just at the music, I think that they had music going on for too long. And it wasn't even the music kind of music I would like. So music can be very personal. So if you're gonna put music, they have to have a 10 second clip of music that'll identify them to their subscribers, not something that you want your audience to listen to. Because if they don't like that music, they're going to immediately turn off. Well, it's not just the music in general, I think two minutes of an intro is way too long.

Especially. I think I think it should be no more than 10 seconds, to be honest with you. I listened to a very good friend of mine who I met on LinkedIn. I'm not going to mention his name. But he's a great podcaster the intro goes on way too long. And let me tell

On this episode, I talk with the entrepreneurs Jeff and Jim Wood who have built an amazing business called SwimAble, which helps child and adults learn to swim in a more fun environment than swimming lessons. Quoted from their website, SwimAble offers these benefits to clients:

  • Learning Through Play
  • Earliest & Quickest way to learn to swim
  • Kids quickly build confidence
  • Kids discover how to swim at their own pace
  • Personalized tips based on your child's progress.
  • New games every week.
  • Learn in your own backyard or community pool.

One of the most important things to note here: the Wood brothers empower clients to learn to swim faster via their service Swim Discovery which offers a more personalized experience not only for child ages 2 years old and up, but also for adults who never learned to swim because of the rigid structural method used by traditional swim instructors.

I won't say much more, because they will talk about their service. On this episode, I also share my own frustrations of learning to swim when I was a kid and let Jeff and Jim respond to them from their own perspective.
