HIBERNATION _ Blanket Fort Recordings: Recent Episodes

hibernation

In the Spanish Pyrenees six artists are hibernating together, finding ways to relate to the world and thrive. In this podcast they will experiment with sound, storytelling, and converse about topics that come up during this period of rest as resistance. Inspired, angry or indifferent to what we said? We'd love to hear it! >> https://pad.riseup.net/p/hibernation

In this new episode from Hibernation Blanket Fort Recordings, Anna, Jade and Anne joined forces to take a closer look at the phenomenon of ‘Imposter Syndrome’. They dive into its definition, the different ways it can be experienced, and the relation between feeling like an imposter and being treated as an imposter.

Doubting your abilities… this is something we found out to be a shared experience here amongst us hibernaters. We all have had moments in which we felt intense self-doubt, fear for not being able to live up to expectations, overachieving until you’re completely burned-out... etc. etc. When you experience these things, it might make you feel like there is something wrong with you. You will probably hear that you need to work on gaining confidence, while in many situations this is not precisely the case.

In this podcast, we aim to shift the narrative that focuses on the ‘fixing people with imposter syndrome’, by looking through our imposter eyes at our own work environments.

In this new episode Anna, Anne and Kai sit together inside a blanket fort they build in the living room to converse about complaining, abuse of power, institutional neglect, emotional manipulation, sexual abuse, etc. If these are topics that are hard for you to hear at the moment, or in general can trigger you, don't forget to care for yourself and maybe skip this episode.

A few days after arriving in the Pyrenees we sat down to watch the documentary that BOOS published about The Voice. The abuse of power, manipulation, the monster machine of an institution that wants to filter you out, the troublemaker. It is all to recognizable to us. We are people who complain, and we recognize the mind games, the insecurity, the victim blaming and self-victim blaming. In this episode we reflect on The voice, we relate to our own experience, and we talk about ways of dealing, surviving, supporting.

One final disclaimer before listening to this episode. This podcast is for entertainment purposes. In our conversations we use very fine tuned sarcasm, hyperbole, metaphors, euphemisms, cynicism and other literary devices for the sake of art and entertainment. We do not incite anybody to participate in criminal activities or break the law in any shape or form.

This is part two of our episode "Unreliable therapy - reading each others futures" where we introduce ourselves by looking into the fog of our futures.

In the first weeks here in the mountains we have been drinking a lot of Turkish and Bosnian coffee and reading each others futures in the grounds afterwards.
Under capitalist oppression, the future is a loaded subject. The pressure to live a successful life with a fruitful career, a family and a house is something we all feel; yet doesn't feel obtainable or even really desirable.  But it can be difficult to feel supported and validated in finding different ways to survive.

Reading  coffee grounds is a way to combat this, it gives affirmative futures where you can relate to a screaming turtle, a mammut in the skies or become an earth-bending mountain moll.

Any thoughts, ideas or ramblings about what we talked about? We'd love to hear it!!
