NOURISH brings principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine to life. Hosted by Kasia, a Holistic Counselor and current Doctoral student studying Traditional Chinese Medicine + Acupuncture, NOURISH shares the stories of inspiring humans who have successfully found balance between traditionally Western concepts of “success” with more Eastern concepts of “inner spiritually and connection”. We cover topics on spirituality, authentic career, relationships, alternative lifestyles, mindfulness, alternative healing, entrepreneurship, nutrition, NLP, psychology, psychedelics, herbalism, and stories of transformation via Traditional Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture. We also share the tools to tangibly integrate both sides of your Yin and Yang to find true balance in your life. Welcome back to The Other Way! I'm Kasia, your host, and I'm thrilled to reconnect with you all after our season break. As many of you know, I wrapped up last season during a challenging time. My mom was diagnosed with cancer just days before our last episode, and I've been in NYC since mid-July, supporting her, navigating this uncertainty, and celebrating the moments that matter—like my brother’s beautiful wedding, which we brought to New York so my mom could be a part of it.
While I have many personal updates to share in a solo episode soon, we’re celebrating the start of a new season today. We’re transitioning into fall, or as Chinese Medicine calls it, “Late Summer.” This Earth element season is a time of transition, marking the shift from the active Yang energy of spring and summer to the Yin introspection of fall and winter. I can feel the change in the air here in NYC, with cooler mornings and the subtle natural shift. We’re only here until Sunday before returning to California, so I’m soaking up every moment with family and the last hints of East Coast summer.
In this new season, we’re diving deep into the paths less traveled, all through a feminine lens. We’ll explore themes that resonate with my life journey—women’s health, fertility, career, spirituality, and more. This year has brought about significant shifts for me, both personally and professionally, and I’m leaning into surrender and presence in ways I never imagined.
Here’s a sneak peek at some of the themes we’ll be exploring this season:
And that’s just the beginning! We have an incredible lineup of guests whose wisdom I can’t wait to share.
Thank you so much for tuning in and being a part of this beautiful community. I’m beyond excited to embark on this journey with you in the Fall 2024 season of The Other Way. Let’s dive in!

Hi everyone, welcome back to the show. Today’s episode is a season wrap-up and life update. It isn’t something I had been expecting to share, but it’s a profoundly significant update and season of life for me. My initial plans were to share a bit about my recent reiki training in Ojai, a bit about my trip to Spirit Weavers in June, and chat about some business items that have come up along with my Zen practice but life has a funny way of redirecting things. My mom was diagnosed with cancer and frankly, a lot has changed in the last two weeks.
This experience has been painful and also in the strangest ways, openhearted and beautiful. I would never have wished for this experience, but I accept it and have found something to be grateful for throughout it. I deeply credit my Zen and mindfulness practice for this open-hearted perspective.
Sending out love to those who need it - and thanking every one of you for tuning into this season of the other way. Join us in the fall for more conversations about paths less traveled, spirituality, wellness, women’s health, and more.

Hi everyone! Today I'm speaking with Joe Hollier, Co-Founder of Light -> a minimalistic, non-addictive smartphone alternative.
For those of you who have known me for a while I've been on a long-time mission to become more intention with the information I'm taking in and to cultivate more focus and flow into my day. Partner that with my long-time meditation practice and over the past few years it has become obvious to me that my phone... as convenient as it is... is definitely part of a larger problem.
This year I "upgraded" to a Lightphone and started to set more serious boundaries with my phone. I noticed that on retreats/vacations/weekends when I don't have a traditional smartphone on me I feel more focused, intentional, and peaceful. On days when I am on my phone a lot I feel overwhelmed, more anxious, and "rushing" non-stop. I also found it more difficult to participate in things I loved: reading, learning, and tapping into that state of "deep focus".
Well, it turns out I'm not alone. According to recent research:
Y'all, IDK about you but I don't feel good feeling so distracted - I want more peace and a sense of calm groundedness in my day-to-day. Enter Light - and this conversation.

Ever felt like you're constantly running on a treadmill of productivity, yet somehow you're still not getting anywhere? I can definitely relate. As a self-proclaimed Type A - I often found myself in hyperdoing mode (wholly disconnected from my body and any part of my feminine, flowy being). What would this lead to? Burn out, disatisfaction, and questioning the end I was running towards! Today's episode is a deep dive into this theme as we speak with Amy Natalie; feminine embodiment guide, author, and coach. We delve into Amy's profound shift from a life stifled by anxiety to one flourishing in stability and intuitive living. As she recounts her steps, Amy becomes a beacon for the kind of intentional living that can lead to personal growth and fulfillment, a journey we at Inflow hold close to our hearts.
Striking a balance between the go-getter drive and the intuitive whisper is a dance many of us are still learning. Our discussion turns to the art of embodiment, where as a women's empowerment coach, I emphasize the value of connecting deeply with our bodies as the vessel for our emotions, intuition, and pleasure. We share personal narratives that challenge the 'good girl' persona and societal norms, urging listeners to realign their lives with their soul's essence. The transformation is palpable as we discuss shifting from living 'neck-up' to embracing a life sprouting from authenticity and joy, a path that leads to personal growth and a healthier society.
This episode is a treasure trove for those seeking harmony in their personal and professional spheres. Amy's battle with endometriosis, which led to the creation of Inflow, exemplifies the perfect marriage of structure and flow, and it's a resource you won't want to miss. We offer you tangible steps to start practicing embodiment and give a glimpse into resources for those ready to journey deeper into this transformative work. If you're ready for a significant change or yearning for balance, this conversation is an open invitation to nurture a connection with your inner self and step into a more empowered, integrated life.

Our conversation takes a deep dive into the world of altered states of consciousness, not just from a theoretical standpoint but from Jonathan's own experiences and observations. We also discuss the scientific measurements of these states and how they are clinically oriented around wake and sleep states. From Jonathan's personal experiences, we get an intriguing insight into the concept of flow and how it can bridge the subjective with the objective. We also touch upon the physiological processes that our brain undergoes during these states and how we can observe and comprehend what's happening.
In the latter part of our conversation, we examine the role of ego in entrepreneurship and how to mindfully manage it. Using his own experiences, Jonathan illustrates the power of dreams and the delicate balance between ambition and surrender. He also shares how the teachings of Saad Guru, a renowned yogi and visionary, have shaped his journey and helped him make better decisions. So, sit back and join us on this mind-expanding exploration of consciousness, science, and much more.

"Non-Toxic Living" – when you hear it, what do you think of? Organic food, green juice, maybe drinking filtered water? (Teaser: The health of that water may actually depend on more than its source – it could also be influenced by the container it comes in!)
Today, we're delving into environmental toxins and toxicants: what are they, where are they hidden (cookware, makeup, even yoga pants?), and how do they impact your hormones, fertility, overall health – and even the health of future generations?
I have the privilege of speaking with Jenna Hua, a registered dietitian, environmental health scientist, and Founder & CEO of Million Marker. Jenna is a staunch advocate for understanding how our daily consumption habits affect our well-being. Jenna's journey, from studying food environments in China to founding a health tech startup, is as inspiring as it is informative.
Our discussion navigates the murky waters of toxins, often concealed in products we use every day, and their significant impact on health and fertility. Jenna sheds light on both persistent and transient toxins, explaining their intricate effects on our bodies. She also opens up about her personal fertility struggles and how they led her to establish Million Marker, underscoring the heart-wrenching reality that these toxins can harm unborn children and echo through generations. Jenna's insights into the regulatory measures taken by the government to manage these toxins are as illuminating as they are thought-provoking.
But it's not all gloom and doom. Jenna equips us with practical advice on detoxing from toxins and making lifestyle changes that can protect our health. From the importance of choosing organic products and reducing plastic use to selecting the right cookware, Jenna provides actionable insights for a healthier life. Tune in for an eye-opening exploration into the world of toxins, their impact, and the steps we can take to safeguard our health. Uncover the dangers lurking in your non-stick pans, the fragrances you love, and even your everyday receipts. This episode is a must-listen for anyone looking to take control of their health.
Jenna's Bio:
Dr. Jenna Hua, an environmental health scientist and dietitian by training, is passionate about the environment, public health, and everything food. Jenna holds a BS in Nutrition and an MPH and PhD in Environmental Health Sciences from UC Berkeley, and completed her postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford Medicine.
Frustrated by the lack of data regarding how harmful chemicals (like BPA, phthalates, and parabens) from plastics and everyday products affect our health and clinical outcomes, and the absence of a personalized approach to mitigate harmful chemical exposures, Jenna set out on a mission to change this.
She founded Million Marker, a health-tech startup dedicated to empowering everyone with the data and tools to determine how the products they use, the food they eat, and the water they drink negatively or positively influence their health. Million Marker helps people understand what chemicals are inside of them—and then provides simple solutions for quickly reducing harmful chemicals through mail-in test kits, lifestyle audits, product recommendations, and counseling.

We explore the power of essential oils, the value of a balanced diet, and the impact of modern skincare products on our skin's microbiome. We also address the toxicity of social media and the comparison trap it creates, encouraging a healthier relationship with ourselves and our bodies.
But our conversation doesn't stop at skincare. We delve into more delicate topics such as body dysmorphia and the importance of self-care. We share our thoughts on the need to step away from the rat race and focus on nurturing our inner lives for outward stability. Tyler Beaty is an entrepreneur, human-centered designer, and the co-founder and CEO of Sero health. With over 10 years of experience building tech ventures, Tyler’s portfolio includes some impressive achievements such as completing the renowned Draper University entrepreneurship program and working as a brand strategist with tech startups where he worked on world-changing problems such as impacting world hunger via insect protein, improving connection via virtual reality, and building defense systems against drone attacks. However, despite some perfect on paper milestones, it was his own deeply human life experience around mental health that shaped his passion and path with his latest and most meaningful venture, Sero.
After suffering from burnout, overwhelm, and ADHD while scaling his digital design agency he started to notice how his mental wellbeing affected everything, including his physical health. He was diagnosed with GERD, depression, substance abuse, and anxiety, but it was only after coming face to face with suicidality that he knew he had to make a serious change. Lifestyle changes to help bring balance were supportive but it wasn’t until he discovered EMDR therapy that he witnessed breakthroughs. Once he realized how powerful yet inaccessible EMDR therapy was, he knew he had to make a dent in the problem. With that, he Co-Founded Sero, a remote-first, accessible platform and product for EMDR therapy.
Today, Tyler is a passionate advocate for PTSD treatment, mental health awareness, and living life as a balanced human. In between working you can find Tyler spending time with his beautiful wife, practicing breathwork, or enjoying nature in California.

Brittany grew up on the beaches of Malibu, eating local produce and appreciating at a very young age that food is fuel. After graduating Georgetown University and Le Cordon Bleu, Brittany trained at the three Michelin- starred Le Bernardin and The Food Network in New York, where she studied the finest techniques in the culinary world.
While trying to get pregnant, Brittany was struggling to conceive and visited a fertility doctor who recommended the auto-immune protocol, with which she experienced great results, e.g. more energy, reduced inflammation, improved focus, and strength. She eliminated dairy, nuts, gluten and soy from her diet and was searching for a milk alternative, when the idea hit her: “What if I make milk from flaxseed?” Not only was the flax milk allergen-free, but had a fantastic texture due to the fact that flax is a natural emulsifier. Malibu Mylk was born!

She has taught numerous workshops for aspiring acupuncturists on Cosmetic Acupuncture and completed the Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture System, AcuReGen Cosmetic Facial Acupuncture & Medical Microneedling Program, Microdermabrasion & Skin Care certificate and interned with a Facial Acupuncturist in Tokyo, Japan. She also apprenticed with the internationally recognized Acupuncturist & Educator of the famous Kiiko Matsumoto style, Takamasa Tsurusaki R.Ac; and through this apprenticeship she honed her abilities in a style of Acupuncture known for its precise diagnosis, gentle needling techniques and its blending of western medical principles with eastern ideologies for quick and effective results.
Amrit is a fully insured, Registered Acupuncturist with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario (CTCMPAO) and is certified in Clean Needle Technique.

Genevieve is a healer, Reflector, and a metaphorical “breaker of chains”. This modern meets mystic ancestral healer and psychic medium is on a mission to help give the voiceless a voice; helping others find their suppressed inner truth, heal their lineage, and get in touch with their innate history. As a seer, she’s always walked between two worlds: that of the past and the present - guided by the medicine of her own lineage. That gift has enabled her to clearly see, within every individual, the “misaligned puzzle pieces” in their lives, which, once healed, can help them align towards their true purpose, path, and most healed versions of themselves.

Mindfulness teacher, somatic trauma therapist, and artist Nichole Proffitt melds together her unique experiences and over 20 years personal practice, research, and professional experience to support her clients on their own journeys of cultivating self-awareness, stress and pain management, and loving-kindness. Nichole’s counseling style is rooted in the belief that mindfulness helps us grow a more skillful relationship to the present moment, thereby allowing us to show up fully for the joys and sorrows of our lives, equally. As a survivor of significant intergenerational and physical traumas herself, Nichole knows first hand the debilitating effects of great grief and suffering. Her professional work is deeply influenced by her personal journey; a fluid interweaving that she speaks of with great gentleness and strength. It is that open heartedness that has enabled her to cultivate not just acceptance but also, welcome the ebbs and flows of life. From studying abroad in Asia and at various Buddhist centers around the world, to spending several months on silent meditation retreats, to pursuing research and teaching the implications of mindfulness in a medical setting at UCSF in San Francisco - Nichole’s curiosity has enabled her to pursue mindfulness in both a somatic and intellectual way. Today, she brings that knowledge and perspective to her clients; facilitating groups and working 1-1 with clients worldwide... In her own words, her ultimate mission is “To be at ease in my life. To support others in being at ease in their lives. To create and facilitate spaces and experiences in which people feel safe, seen and valued. To support and facilitate connection. To create and celebrate beauty. To be an advocate for being fully present and showing up for life.”

Liobhan, pronounced “Lee-vin”, is a Human Design reader, Projector, and Host of Align and Create, a podcast dedicated to translating the concepts of human design into digestible information to help enable all humans to align with their authentic selves and discover their true potential. Liobhan discovered Human Design after spending over 10 years in the textile industry where she reached her breaking point. Despite success climbing the ladder as a textile designer, globe trotting across London and NYC - Liobhan knew instinctively something was “off” - she felt like she was swimming upstream. She suffered from chronic, debilitating psoriasis and craved a life of alignment and ease. It was only after discovering Human Design in 2017 that Liobhan felt the puzzle pieces click together - she had finally discovered her own roadmap to authentic alignment. Since taking that leap of faith to align with her design Liobhan has experienced first hand what energetic flow can look like; manifesting her life partner, launching a thriving business, and stepping into her own creative expression of self. Human design completely transformed her life and inspired her dedication to enable such ease and authenticity for others. Liobhan, in Irish, means “beauty among women” and like her name suggests Liobhan is on a mission to help others lead beautiful lives, from the inside out. Tune into this episode to learn about Human Design and* scratch the surface of what your own roadmap towards authenticity might look like.

Serial entrepreneur, Navy SEAL Veteran, father, husband, meditator, and now, Doctoral student studying Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture - Brian is a multidimensional human and the ultimate anomaly. After growing up on a small, organic, regenerative farm - Brian jumped full force into the complete opposite enrolling in the military as a Navy SEAL at the age of 18. After passing the ultra competitive SEAL qualifications (6% of applicants are accepted, annually) and the notoriously challenging training program (a process dubbed “Hell Week” where only 1 in 4 candidates pass), Brian was deployed; serving in Iraq, receiving multiple awards for his exceptional service, and reporting to Jocko Willink over the course of his tenure on the prestigious Team 3. His experience, to say the least, was metamorphic; enduring multiple life-or-death scenarios over his 80+ combat missions. Now, as a veteran, he knows first hand the challenges of PTSD and the struggle of adjusting to civilian life - chronicling his transition “out of the military as deeply transformative as joining”. It was this experience that inspired his deep meditative and spiritual journey and influenced his own path as a meditator, teacher, and Reiki master who now serves as a volunteer with veterans struggling with trauma. In addition to his journey on the spiritual plane, Brian is a serial entrepreneur and lifelong student. He’s the co-founder of two successful startups and today, a student combining his undergraduate degree of Psychology with his Doctorate in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Brian is truly a living, breathing testament to the DAOist philosophy of Yin-and-Yang in balance, integrating the most intense, traumatic, and deadly experiences with the most gentle, beautiful, and connected perspectives. His mission is to translate his own discovery of true mind-body-and-spirit health for others who are struggling so that he can help them on their own path.

Whitney Bird, or Auntie Whitney as she’s known as to many, is an acupuncturist, healer, and truly remarkable human being. She received both her Masters and Doctorate in the medicine indigenous to the people of China (otherwise known as Traditional Chinese Medicine) from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine at CIIS (one of the top acupuncture schools in the nation). She has since apprenticed at length under brilliant TCM doctors such as Raymond Himmel and Danny Geren. She’s licensed by the California Acupuncture Board and nationally certified by NCCAOM for acupuncture and herbal medicine. She’s the type of practitioner who is “enthusiastic” about Traditional Chinese Medicine (to say the least), she meets with all types of clients (but has an extra “zest” for pediatrics) and she leverages all modalities of TCM in her practice (which we will dive into in today’s episode!)! She volunteers with Integrative Healers Action Network, Acupuncture without Borders, and works with the Paradigm Treatment Centers. She’s a huge proponent of social health (something we deeply value here at Mira Wellness!) and has some incredible perspectives into the power of community for healing (both emotionally, spiritually, and socially). When not treating patients she can be found outside birding, biking, hiking, sailing, or foraging herbs with her adorable pup, Pippin, or her adventurous cat, The Doctor.

Startup executive, former Microsoft product lead, psychedelic advocate, father, husband, and champion of “radically transparent spirituality”, Sébastien Fouillade is a modern anomaly. Although his 26+ years of experience and his portfolio of tech, product development, and leadership successes are impressive, it’s the openness and authenticity with which Sébastien balances both his spiritual side with his ambitious achievements that sets him apart. Though Sébastien had his first “out of body awakening” in 2011, he only officially “came out of the spiritual closet” recently (in 2019); confronting the stigma associated with psychedelics head on. Since then Sébastien has boldly redefined inclusion in the workplace; challenging cultural norms around how to successfully interweave your spiritual life with your work life. Today, Sébastien works at the forefront of tech and psychedelics. He’s the Chief Journey Officer at Dvija Psychedelics, an advisor for Fraqtal, and a founder for a new Stealth startup in the Psychedelics space. In addition to his startup portfolio he’s the host of Leadershipadelics (a top psychedelic podcast that interviews world class entrepreneurs and leaders who have had impactful experiences with psychedelics) where he’s a powerful advocate for spiritual sovereignty; encouraging everyone to be authentic in sharing their own life path.

💫 Hello and welcome to NOURISH.
My name is Kasia and I’m a Holistic Counselor and first year Doctoral Student studying Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine. My mission with this podcast is to share the stories of inspiring humans who have discovered that elusive state of balance between the Western concept of success with the more Eastern philosophies of inner knowing and spirituality. Think: Yin and Yang in flow. ☯️
Now, these two do not need to be separate but I know FIRST HAND how difficult it can be to reconcile them. As a “Silicon Valley burnt out escapee” myself (teaser: I left the tech world after over 10 years of a thriving career in Product Management), I want to share the stories that I wish I had heard when I was struggling to find that balance & flow myself.
On this podcast we’ll cover topics on spirituality, authentic career/relationships, slow living, mindfulness, alternative healing, concepts from psychology, and stories of transformation via Traditional Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture. We’ll also provide you with tools to truly integrate both sides of your Yin and Yang.
My hope is that these interviews can inspire you to rethink your own approach to mental, physical, and spiritual wellbeing and if you are struggling - find your way back to authentic alignment.
So sit back, relax, and ground yourself back home - my love. ♥️
