Hosts Robert Hinchliffe and Abbie Peterson will be analyzing education and topics that effect today's educators. They will be working together to discuss educational items that look at both the administrative and teacher perspective of situations. By discussing these items, we hope to connect with audiences and alleviate concerns, fears, and anxiety that are plaguing educators.
Today on the podcast, behavior strategist and lifelong educator Christina Hardeman joins the fun! Listen as she talks about how to help students and teachers in today’s after-COVID world. Christina also gives her thoughts about teachers who come in her office, what is plaguing the educational world, and whether or not we can help it completely turn around. She also shares positives about the profession and some memories from years past! Enjoy!
Jeff Granger is back! Transfer season is upon us and both him and Robert are looking to find new additions to the building. Listen in as they discuss interviews, questions, and then it moves into MAP data and micromanagement. Check out the latest podcast and enjoy insight into this time of year from their perspectives.
Robert's oldest daughter joins him on the podcast. Currently in the middle of applying for scholarships to help with college next year, Audrey O'Donnell talks about what she loves about her current and previous teachers, as well as why she loves reading and to edit writing. It is a great look into the mind of a student who has genuinely always loved to learn in school.
Author, keynote speaker, motivational guru, and downright funny guy Hal Bowman enters the podcast. He shares his beliefs about schools and why boys struggle in the system, why relationships and engagement matter so much, and what he would tell all governors and politicians to change in our profession if they asked him. Have some laughs and enjoy the convo!
Now a Superintendent in South Dakota, Don DeBoer was happy to spend some time on the podcast while the temperatures outside of his home hit -11 and -27 with the wind chill. He started out in Las Vegas 25 years ago on the same day as Robert at the same school, but then took a different path to the top. The two reminisce about the past, talk about leadership, and agree that relationships matter more than anything.
Robert's wife enters the podcast for a very interesting back and forth about all types of topics. They discuss the great things about middle school compared to elementary, the history of teaching history, and whether or not she would like to work for a principal like him at a school like his. It is a fascinating conversation that evolves into a power struggle to see who is right by the end of the 50 minutes. Enjoy!

Sharing her insights about the profession from her new position within the “Get Your Teach On” organization and comparing it to being in a school, Sarah tells her story of being a part of that world while balancing it with being a mom and wife, and how she hopes to make an impact on today’s kids and educators nationwide.
Co-author of "Building Dynamic Teamwork in Schools" with Robert (which is now available on Amazon), educational guru and motivational speaker Dr. Brad Johnson enters the podcast to discuss leadership within schools. His vast knowledge of how to put teachers first and lead people in a positive manner through inter-relational skills is critical to getting the best out of the people in the building. The author of 15+ books takes the time to share his insight into various topics and provides a reminder that education is always about relationships.
Angie and Shawna are back in the arena! The ladies join me to discuss an idea that we are using at Thompson ES this year and how the discussions are enhancing teaching and learning outcomes. It is a fabulous conversation, and gives the listener an example of the topics and conversations we have daily while working to be the best team and school possible.
This week's guest is Jen Ballejos, a Kindergarten teacher in Las Vegas, Nevada. Not only does she discuss teaching in her grade level, but she has taken a unique journey with her son which she shares, and she provides information on a positive change that everyone can make for their family, yet so many do not know about it. Her son's journey is a cautionary tale, but one that we can all learn from, and gives hope that if the right people hear about it, perhaps we can make some huge changes in education that can have positive effects for all students.
Starting in 1999 with Robert, Dan Hungerford has worked his way up the ranks and continues to lead Givens ES in Las Vegas. He is passionate about Nevada and will advocate for the city and state any chance he gets. He is also passionate about his school, partnerships that he has created, and the hope that things can change as the time in his career dwindles down. It is a great conversation from two administrators in Clark County who started at the same school on the same day over 24 years ago.
Just starting out in their teaching careers, Savannah Johnson and Tracey Counts (they call themselves "Travannah") are 2nd grade teachers at Tyrone Thompson ES. They discuss being new, the challenges they face, and what they love about their school and their job. These young ladies represent a bright spot in the future of education.
Sharing her strengths as a 2nd grade teacher, Andrea Roach also discusses PBIS, behavior interventions, and her time as a self-contained teacher in Texas. It is an episode that goes in many places yet circles back to a thought about entitlement. She is an excellent teacher that parents adore, who strives to be #1, and never stops reflecting on how to get better. Enjoy!
With nearly 200,000 followers on Instagram, Loreal Hemenway and Stephanie Osmundson (known as "happilyeverelementary" to their followers) are working to make a huge positive impact in schools each and every day in their own way. They share many videos on how to enhance classrooms or make a bulletin board more exciting to students. The ladies are fantastic humans and educators, and their ripple effect has been felt far and wide in the educational arena. It is a great conversation with great teachers who just want the best for their colleagues and all students.
This week, Angie Brown shows why she is a valued member of Tyrone Thompson Elementary School and her positivity comes through her words. She discusses her viewpoint on "Rock Your School" and being happy at work. Talking about how she combats bad days with positive vibes, as well as what her life's "purpose" is, Angie provides great insight to her job and why she loves to "get" to go to work.
This week, Leanna Mackelprang provides her perspective from her position as an Assistant Principal at Shirley Barber Elementary School. She discusses her thoughts on differentiating for the "high" kids and whether or not she will ever be ready to step up into the lead role of principal.
Tyrone Thompson ES Assistant Principal Shawna Quenneville entered the podcast to share her perspective! She is a true servant leader who will help anyone at anytime, but what she loves most is helping teachers get better instructionally within the classroom. One of the most energetic and beloved teachers in CCSD, Madison McConnell enters the podcast to discuss many thoughts about the job. She has the "perspective" of having been a specialist and is now in 5th grade, and has also spent time at lower SES schools which enhanced her view of the job. She is full of fun and it is a great discussion about what it is like being a teacher in today's world.
Roger West is the principal of Wilbur and Theresa Faiss Middle School in Las Vegas, Nevada. He has experience in High School and Central Office positions of which he discusses. It is an interesting episode that goes in many different directions.

Today's guest is Jeff Granger, the principal of Shirley Barber Elementary School in Las Vegas. During the episode, Robert and Jeff discuss their usual days and debate when they can find the time to be instructional leaders instead of building managers.
