A podcast dedicated to the creative process of writing music as well as getting to know the artists who make it. We focus on the behind the scene aspects of the writing process. We want to talk about what inspires artists to create, how they have grown and how they plan on growing in the future, and what they do in their spare time.
This week we talked to Leah of New York based indie rock band, OK Cowgirl. Her skills of observation have evolved with her practice of yoga, in tune with her body as well as her notes app. She started playing piano at age 5 but found her passion for songwriting in her teens focusing on storytelling while her band focuses on instrumentation. Their most recent release “Couldn't Save Us From My Gut” was written over the course of many years reflecting on heartbreak and empowering decisions. Since finishing this project her writing has evolved, and we’re excited to hear those changes in new music in the future!

This week we talk to PA-based rock duo Dan and Joe. They are both fans of the film, Dan an avid collector and fan of film restoration, and Joe a fan of watching the films at Dan's house. They’ve been in every type of band imaginable, from rock to orchestra to march, diversifying their repertoire of musical inspirations. Their most recent release Get Away is a comment on our reliance on technology with sonic inspiration from heavy rock and a fuzz box Dan found in his basement. Today we talked to San Francisco-based band, Polkadot. Their media interests are a venn diagram, not always aligned, but often overlapping. The lore of the band runs deep, with several members of the band playing in others bands before playing in Polkadot. Their most recent release, “... to be crushed,’ covers a wide range of emotional topics from feeling beat to feeling enamored - both synonyms of the word crush. After this summer tour, they are taking a short break to focus on writing and will be back this winter to play more shows.

This week we talk to Peyton and Will of Texas based emo band, Drunk UncleTexas-based. The band doesn't currently have any tour plans, but when they do it’ll be in a sick, refurbished coca cola van. Despite their hermit status, the band got together in 2019 and started writing through the pandemic. Their most recent release, “O Brittle Weather,” is intended to evoke the warm and cozy feeling of escaping the cold. They are already working on their next release, intended for early 2025.

This week we chatted with New York-based Indie-pop artist, Jake Brewer. Inspired by the movie Challengers, he started his tennis career by hitting a pigeon and buying tickets to the US Open. His background in dance aids his music in pop inspirations and stage presence during live performances. His most recent release, “ps for her eyes only” includes an additional track, Sincerely, becoming the namesake of his summer 2024 West Coast tour. He is working on a new project, the theme discussing the most important relationship, the one with yourself.

This week we talked to New York-based indie/folk artist, Lydia von Hof. She shuts her brain off in two ways, by painting iconic characters and dancing to music she does not normally listen to. Her journey in music started at a young age, playing piano with her grandmother in Ohio. Her recent release “Rules” follows the season of heartbreak, inspired by the experience of a close friend. She is currently working on an indie-folk-rock project, excited to go into the studio and work with a band to develop her music.

This week we talked to Cooper and Nat of Chicago-based Midwest Shine Punk band, Arcadia Grey. The band works together making music videos with Nat’s direction and Coraline and Cooper’s ability to trust the process. The band has displayed significant growth since the release of “Konami Code”, their first LP, taking inspiration from friends and peers alike. Arcadia Grey released their sophomore LP“Casually Crashing” in May of this year, exercising a new format of writing music as a band. They have been playing the new songs live, developing their stage presence and improvisational skills so you never see the same show twice.

Today we welcome back the jersey-based, pop/alt-rock/punk band, The Break Plans. Since we last talked, the band has included more guitar in their repertoire of sounds - leaning into their early 2000’s pop-punk influences. The band plans to release their EP, "Mistakes are a Friend of Mine" over the course of this year with Their most recent release “Not What I Want” is the song of the summer.

This week we talked to Michael torres, host of Beers with Bands. He was interested in his local music scene and decided to start booking shows in it, familiarizing himself even further and getting to make connections. After stepping away from his scene for a while, he decided to come back by highlighting local artists with his podcast. Since starting Beers with Bands he’s expanded past his local scene and started talking to people from all parts of the world. He just put on a show to celebrate 5 years of the podcast and will soon be celebrating 200 episodes.

This week we talked to Philly-based Bipedal Math Rock band, SomaRai. Outside of music, the band participates in community-building activities like going to the gym and Magic the Gathering in the Deli. After trying countless times, they were finally able to record and release their latest single ‘The actor” in a room with nice sound and each other. The band’s writing process is fluid and experimental, making noises, adding riffs, and telling each other that they get it, but it sounds bad. The band is constantly writing together and currently working on an EP which we hope to hear soon. Find more from them @

This week we talked to Deleware based not indie band, Death by Indie. The band is a big fan of food, visiting their local vegetarian restaurants and local parks to eat berries. Death by Indie started after a few jam sessions when Declan realized this musical partnership was the best they’d experienced. Their most recent album “7 Day Farmers Market” is an ode to a local grocery store that had to close due to corporate greed and gentrification. They are looking forward to playing with Half-Japanese at their yearly festival with new projects in the works.

This week we talked to the Tulsa-based indie alt-rock band, The Odyssey. While only half the band Frolfs, that doesn't mean they can't hang out on the course and exercise. The band prioritizes the different aspects of making music, between the emotion that drives it and the sound in your ears, collaborating to bring them together. In 2022 the band released their debut album ‘Saturn’, making collaboration a key point of their writing process. Their writing style has developed since then, working together to make music that sounds and feels good, disregarding genre boundaries.

This week we welcome back Lana Holgado. Since we last talked she’s made her way into a music therapy graduate program and will soon be moving to the UK to be gay. Her most recent release 'archived' has been cooking for quite some time, starting as a song that wasn’t to be released and becoming an homage to a loved one. She’s currently planning on releasing her last single before moving, Chaos Brain—a Song juxtaposed between a manic and depressive episode.

This week we talked to Atlanta-based Punk-Folk duo, ‘Hey, nothing’. The band’s interest in film started in high school when they were granted the freedom to be the comedy duo nobody else could be. Their debut song together was ‘House of Gold, played at their 6th-grade talent show and they fell in love with playing music. Their recent project ‘Maine’ is a heartwrenching set of songs inspired by the duality of success and hardship. They are currently working on their second LP, developing their sound and leaning into darker more rock tones while keeping their lyricism authentic. Find more from them @

This week we talked to New Jersey-based goth band, Love Letter! The band often gets themselves a sweet treat whether it's an after-practice ice cream or a slightly disgruntled box of munchkins. Each of them started music at around time and eventually ended up playing a show together and just really liking the vibe, soon after Love Letter! Was formed. Their debut EP ‘Mother Superior’ is out now, a mix of vulnerable writing and shoegazy goth ballads and riffs. They're looking to play more shows this summer, utilizing their ability to read a room and make each show unique.

This week we talked to LA based indie artist, Beeson. A well-rounded individual whose horse girl is justified by the fact that she actually rides horses. Her start in music was as early as her start in talking, singing melodies over the intros to Jewel songs in her mom’s car. Her recent release ‘Gap Teeth’ is the first single in an upcoming EP, written to preserve the feelings at a given point in time. This week we welcomed back Sidney Bird, Arizona-basedto artist living out her Cactus Pop-Dream. Since we last talked she did not learn to make pasta, but she got married and her husband likes to cook so she’s doing fine without it. Her most recent releases have been a glimpse into what is her new era of music. With plans wo release singles throughout the summer we can expect to hear her upcoming album ‘Desert Person’ in September.

This week we talked to Lukas Hill of Melodic Hardcore band, OK Buddy. HIs passion for music is not to be outdone for his passion for trees, having studied forestry it feels safe to say he's the only person who has told us Latin tree names. His early introduction to the beatles and Pink Floyd sparked his love of music, but it wasnt until after college he decided to start in a band. OK Buddy started in 2022 after Lucas and Dan finally reconnected and wrote the band’s first EP, since then the band has picked up a few new members creating a more collaborative process for their most recent release ‘Strays’. The band is passionate about playing live and hopes to play out of state more as well as have an EP release show in the near future. Find more from them @

This week we talked to New York-basedcross-country indie-folk artist, Mae Krell. Despite being from New York, she finds herself drawn to the outdoors, so much so she took a cross country trip making sure to stop and see the Bison. While she didn’t write much over the course of the trip, at the last possible moment she wrote Apollo's Song, the catalyst for her recently released project. Her debut album, (i think) i might be grown, is a personal journey of healing, inadvertently written over the course of many years. This week we talked to New York-based indie-rock band Cabin Fever. Much like most other kids, the band played soccer from a young age spurring their interest in sports growing up to be avid baseball and basketball fans. Having gone to a school that required music classes they knew they were able to play something when they decided to start playing together in 2020. Their writing process is natural and collaborative, picking out the best of their songs and knowing when to scratch parts that simply would not work. They're currently working on their second EP which will showcase more of the variety in their sound and writing.

This week we talked to Australia-based, Folk-pop artist Asha Jefferies. While she may seem like a normal person you may think she's insane after seeing her bathroom frog collection. Her Journey started wanting to be a pop star, the likes of Hannah Montana and after attending a folk music festival she realized that’s what she wanted to pursue. Her debut album ‘Ego Ride’ showcases self-discovery and reflection through life, written as it happened in her early 20s. She was able to expand her creative abilities, taking some time to develop an eye for visual communication to properly accompany the album. Find more from her @

This week we talked to New York-based Indie band, Gamblers. While their interests differ between winemaking, pro-wrestling, and film the whole band can agree Jimmy has cool shirts. The band pulls inspiration from 80s commercial vibes, the indie rock zeitgeist, and the full encapsulation of Phil Collins. Their new Record, ‘Pulverizer’, was developed with a new writing process by showing up and waiting for the universe to provide. This week we talked to Philly-based Emo Post-Hardcore band, Johnny Football Hero. The band has many talents outside of music, from casually speaking Russian to repairing their cars with coat hangers. Emo-Post-HardcoreOver the past few years of releasing music, the band has found a sound that’s their own, incorporating emo and early 2000s posthardcore and steering away from modern baseball. The band is currently working on their next album, incorporating a lot of personal emotions with themes ranging from death to global warming. This week we talked to New York-based artist, Araya. To Araya creating art is about consuming and collaborating and creating a community. Currently, in his Nacho Libre Era, he talks about his philosophy of music and embracing the art you make. His new album Anime is set to release on June 7th with a hyper-pop sound and a more optimistic view than his prior release. This week we talked to Ethan of the Indie dream-pop/rock project Croissant. He’s a big fan of Star Wars noting that the sound design and music caught his attention at a young age, his initial lack of interest in the plot led to him writing reviews for nobody but himself. His interest in music started with a Tom Odell remix and led him to a used macbook that happened to have Logic installed, he soon began to dissect the music he listened to layer by layer. MacbookHe recently released ‘Early Days’ a collection of music from the past few years of Croissant, a personal journey highlighting his growth and embracing life. He’s currently working on a new EP, inspired by dreams, and hopes to have it released by the summer.

This week we talked to Nick of Dream Pop Indie Rock band, Of House. When he’s not making music he can be found in the kitchen feeding his children raw vegetables or baking far too much bread for one person. He’s been surrounded by music since he was young and while he refused to learn piano at first he quickly came around and began to write his own songs. He found the perfect combination of friends to play with, they don't plan on being superstars and are making music and performing for the love of the art. This week we talked to Chaney of Texas-based pop-rock band House Parties. While she isn’t making music she can be found in the lingerie section of the thrift store looking for the perfect piece to incorporate into her grunge Tumblr aesthetic. Inspired by Haley WIlliams of Paramore she dreamed of being a badass woman on stage and that is now exactly what she’s doing. The most recent release ‘Side Effect’ was the first under Equal Vision Records touching on things we feel that don't fall plainly into standard emotions. House Parties is going on tour with Games We Play this spring and is excited to hear the crowd shout stuff back at them, lyrics or otherwise.

6thThis week we welcome back a reinvented Joe Piotrowski. SInce the last time we spoke Joe has lived a lot of life, enough to inspire a whole new album. ANYTHING TO DROWN IT OUT takes on a new side of Joe’s music incorporating sonic inspirations from pop-punk and Bon Iver, leaving the story up for interpretation. The Album is set to release March 15th, the 6ht anniversary of his 6th album, and he hopes to plan a show to play these songs live.
This week we talked to Jim of the Philly-based power pop band, Scoopski. When he isn't playing music or smoking his friends in Mario Kart he’s dadding baby Scoopski. He and his wife met in a band and have been playing music together ever since. After considering a full band and cataloging their friends who were interested in playing with them they finally started playing as a full band in 2023. This week we talked to Spring State, New Jersey-based emo rock band. While some members are more interested in anime than others they all fall somewhere on the weeb scale, with Ed taking the chief weeb position. The band met after AJ moved from Florida and put out an ad…on the internet, looking for bandmates. The band is working on their debut Album hoping to release this spring with a focus on rebirth and growth. This week we talked to Nicole Vocalist and Drummer of Nervous Nikki and The Chill Pills. Having a history as a farmer, her home garden is plentiful with herbs for teas and veggies for her husband to can for the winter. Dubbed Nervous Nikki by college friends, the name stuck; the Chill Pills come in the form of her bandmates who help to settle her nerves. The band has been playing together for a couple of years and is getting closer to the more full sound they’ve been working towards. Their latest release ‘Limits’ is the first single off of their upcoming album slated to be released this spring, highlighting coming to terms with life and all of its ups and downs. This week we talked to Dela-dancecorn band Grandeur. The band is big on collecting Old beer bottles, hepatitis and good times. Kenny and Jesse have been playing in bands since the early 2000s and once Covid hit decided to start Grandeur as way to jam and play lady gaga covers. The band is going into the studio in the spring to record a GaGa EP and over the course of the summer to record their upcoming album. This week we talked to Virginia-baseded singer/songwriter, Tyler Meachem. Having started cooking without gluten she's started cooking with Jovial and is hoping for a sponsorship for her aspirational cookbook or coalition. After college she left corporate America to pursue what made her happy, creating music and connections in the Richmond scene. Her debut album ‘Into The Fray’ was released in 2022 highlighting a portion of her life that she decided to stamp and finish with an anniversary edition released in 2023. She has a single coming out soon and plans on creating more music, uncertain of its structure but excited to continue writing.

This week we talked to Emily Reed trans punk space emo artist based in Philly. Her love of legos was rekindled thanks to the batmobile and now she has a Lego for every occasion and no extra shelf space for her girlfriend's figurines. Her start in music is thanks to Weezer and other alt-rock icons of the 90s and early 2000s. Her solo project, How I Became Invisible, is heavily inspired by her life, experiences, and how she relates to the world around her. This week we talked to Mustard’s Human Intern of OnTheShelf. Mustard is a semi-sentient condiment that runs a publication featuring interviews with independent musicians all over the globe. Mustard and their intern, on top of talking about music, experiment with making their own, working with other musicians to produce a variety of anti-capitalist bops. Over the course of 2023 Mustard interviewed 344 independent artists with a unique take on their music, name, or social media habits. This week we talked to Philly-based alt-rock band, Valendina. Their hobbies include Fortnite, Cars, and telling everyone about their hobbies, Fortnite and Cars. The band met at the school of rock and after Tommy’s music was too sad for another vocalist Karina took over and Valendina was born. Their most recent EP ‘Soften the Blow’ is the first of a set of sister EPs that focus on communication, relationships, and the human experience. This week we talked to Heavy Metal Chess Club, a midwest-emo band from Philly. Each member of the band has their niche in terms of interests, but they come together to make some sick-ass music. Once Clara and Hammer discovered their mutual love for emo music, Alex and Jackson were invited to the band to bring some different musical perspectives. Their most recent singles give us a taste of what's to come as they continue to develop their skills as writers, musicians, and bandmates. This week we talked to LA-based pop artist, KO AKA Koala. Her passions for cooking and music have intertwined creating an EP with a lot of edible undertones. Her start as a DJ helped her realize that what she really wanted was to make music of her own. This week we talked to LA-based Singer-Songwriter, John-Robert. While he isn't making music, he spends some of his time watching drama unfold in the lives of strangers around him. His start in music included MMA, Baseball, and smoked-out tents singing countrified Greenday hits. His most recent release “Garden Snake” is an EP about vulnerability that he hopes will connect with those struggling with growing pains. This week we talked to Alex Wash of Philly-based melodramatic rock’n’roll band, granddogs. It hasn’t come yet, but were looking forward to the day he makes a sudoku puzzle for us to try and be bad at. Starting piano at a young age led him into music and eventually into the dueling piano scene in Texas and back to Philadelphia. During lockdown he started writing again producing ‘The House of Empty’, Granddogs first studio album. This week we talked to Thomas Swinn-McNeely, experimental musician from Raleigh, North Carolina. While he isn't making music he’s in his garden shaking his corn for pollination purposes. His start in Jazz band inspired him to start drumming and he doesn't think he’ll ever stop. His solo project fulfills his desire to create unique sounds and experiment with non-live music. This week we talked to northeast-emo band 3AM. The band’s name comes from wanting to spend time with your friends and the permanence of the tattoo Craig got before they decided on a name. Their writing process spans many miles both digitally and in-person keeping the heart of the music intact. The band was able to explore more sounds on their most recent release ‘LIfe’s Hard’, which focuses on the difficulties of life, both inconveniences and hardships. The band is currently working on a new album which looks to hone some of the newer experimental sounds that were used on their last.

This week we talked to Dead Billionaires Vocalist and Guitarist, Warren Campbell. In 2020 he found his passion for politics, focusing on workers' rights and canvasing to make his state better. He was exposed to a lot of music growing up, from Motown to musicals, to opera and punk, it helped shape the way he thinks about and creates music. Dead Billionaires released their debut album Disaster Preparedness Coloring Book in June, an album about living in the grips of capitalism and making sure to find the humor in it.They’re headed back into the studio in January to record some more music and will be putting the next album together conspiracy board style. This week we talked to northeast folk-rock artist, Arlo Matthews. He has slowly been building shelves, but still can't seem to fit all the vintage cassette tapes his friends' grandparents have sent him. His music taste inspires his writing, taking pieces from many artists of the 70s and 80s. The writing process of his debut record ‘Waiting for Daybreak’ started in 2019 and is thematically a bit sadder than his most recent single release What Couldn’t We Do, a summertime jam. This week we talked to California-based singer-songwriter, Delenn Jadzia. They plan to become a professional archaeologist, which we learned has nothing to do with dinosaurs. Since starting to release music they’ve grown as a writer and composer taking the next year to release multiple songs written and composed solely by themself. Storytelling and lyricism are important parts of their music, penning down lyrics that fit a vibe first and everything else after. This week we talked to Grant Moretti of the aggressively dreamy band, Shangrila. When he isn't in the kitchen trying to fix his burning roux he is on his couch watching oddly specific genres of movies. While their debut LP focused more on storytelling, it was a developmental experience that helped shape his overall writing style. Their most recent single popinjay was an homage to the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Brian Wilson, written as a stream of consciousness. This week we talked to New Jersey-based Alternative Rock band, LATEWAVES. While each of them has their own interests they share their favorite pieces of their hobbies in the hopes of gaining each other's approval. Mike and Shawna started the band and Howie was just waiting patiently for them to ask him to be their bassist. The band recently released their sophomore album, refining their sound to create a true LATEWAVES album. This week we talked to alternative folk-rock artist, Madds Buckley. She started playing video games at a young age because of her brothers and soon developed her own passion for playing, but not necessarily finishing, games. She had an early introduction to production, writing, and even composing after being approached by the director of her high school music program. Her most recent release ‘My Love is Sick’ takes a turn away from the anime-inspired music and delves more into an exaggerated rendition of her own experiences. She has a few songs written but plans to finally finish one that has plagued her for years

This week we talked to Philly bassist artist, Harlee Torres. While she isn’t quite there yet, she hopes to someday be rich and famous enough to wear a pair of golden lungs around her neck. When started playing music in high school she was a guitarist and was told by her teachers that she was in fact wrong, and switched to bass. She recently toured with Julia Pratt and has had the opportunity to play with and learn from several other talented artists. Her first single ‘Call me Again’, was the starting point of her solo music which has evolved into the music she is currently writing and plans to release soon.

This week we talked to UK-based emo-punk artist, Northern Sand. Since a young age, he’s been a fan of Power Rangers, collecting zords so that he’s ready once it's morphin time. Growing up, his uncle would visit from Italy each year to teach him a song on the piano leading him to pursue music and name his band after one of his uncle’s songs. His most recent release ‘Autumn Leaves’ has been in development for the past 2 years and taps into the 90s era of emo-punk. This week we talked to Signal In, a Tennessee-based post-rock artist. His interest in video games centers on Open-world RPGs, and he’s looking forward to exploring the stars soon. Taking inspiration from the games he plays, he unconsciously adds some of the ambient sounds he’s fond of into his music. His most recent release ‘Hollow World’ is the debut album under Signal In, a project that started as emo rap but turned to post-rock. This week we talked to The Lower Aetna, a Philly-based Anthem Rock band. What started with writing at reading time, his passion for storytelling was first showcased with his Lord of The Rings fanfic. His first foray into music was making soft rock with some of his best friends in the band, currently on hiatus, Honeyjar. The Lower Aetna has created an outlet for his storytelling diving deep into stories driven by characters that reflect real life. He’s currently working on his second album ‘Pine’ which will focus on the stories of queer people struggling to find happiness in their every day life. This week we talked to Nate of Central Pa-based alternative rock band, The Riot. His childhood traveling inspired a passion for both exploring new places and experiencing their cultures. As the most recent addition to the band, he’s developing his skills, with the help of his bandmates both musically and creatively. Their most recent release ‘Bottomless’ is the first release since 2014 and was accompanied by a large hole dug in Nate’s family farm. With a new single expected soon and more shows coming up there’s a lot to look forward to.

This week we talked to Milwauke's post-rock screamo band, Garden Home. Some members of the band are frequent skaters and more frequent avoiders of kids on scooters. Milwauke’s growing DIY scene intersects with their brewery connections, with small festivals being played at bars and new collaborators beings introduced. Their most ‘Past Life’ kicks off the new cycle of music with Thumbs Up Records, paired with a video of them using sick new gear in a music store. An avid gamer and collector of game systems, he has just about every major console since the Super Nintendo and is looking to get his hands on a HyperScan. This week we talked to Philly riff lords, Kinda Alright. The band’s initiation process includes drinking a beer and speed climbing up a rock wall while playing guitar. They have developed their music style by attempting to play the most difficult things that come to mind, inspired by something Arnold Schwarzenegger said. Their new album “The Esoteric Arts” is a collection of ways to change and exit our bodies through fantastical and strange processes. This week we talked to Australia-based alternative pop artist, Lissi Bos. After a quick walk to the beach and the desire for change, she decided she would continue walking to the beach every day as a job. Also one day she decided to write a song and she did, in 10 minutes in the back of a car. Her debut single “Just Be” was created over the course of the year and was inspired by her personal experience of healing and hopes it resonates with others. This week we talked to Rhode Island-based pop-punk band, Never Coming Home. The band’s patron, Tom Brady, watches over them as they sleep, standing over six feet tall with very nice feet. They met at the school of rock practically clones of one another and started making music together after Tony invited Aidan to a concert. This week we talked to LA-based ethereal-pop artist, YOUR ANGEL. Her fascination for clothes ties in, usually with ribbon and sequins, to her musical aesthetic mixing grime and glam reminiscent of the early 2000s. While her touring started in indie rock her true passion was in pop, so she started working in a coffee shop and making the music she wanted to. Her sophomore album “A Star in Headlights” is a transitional album, aiming towards making pop music interesting again. This week we talked to Dallas-based Alternative Pop Artist, Penny Bored. After working in Bath and Body Works the need to be around candles was strong, so they took their talents home and started making their own. In the summer of 2020 they reignited their passion for music and started writing and collaborating with their peers to release their first single. The New Era of Penny Bored is turning what-ifs into as-ifs, pursuing their passions they want. They have a lot of plans for the summer including playing with the first band they ever saw live and releasing a few more songs.
This week we talked to Nico and Ryan of Hudson Valey-based indie-rock band, New Vision. The Secret fourth member of the band, Melinda, is present at every show bringing good vibes and no body. Nico and Ryan have been playing together for years and the addition of Josh has done nothing but add value to the dynamic of the group. The band’s latest EP ‘Somewhere On This Timeline’ is a stepping stone in a heavier direction that has helped the band to evolve their overall sound. This week we talked to Jeremy Prouty of the Philly-Based art-rock band, Upholstery. When there isn't a natural air disaster happening, he likes to spend his free time hiking and camping away from the City. He started his journey as a bassist with aspirations of playing Chopin on a 12-string, but eventually moved into songwriting and guitar. Their most recent album ‘Woven’ became disjointed by Covid, and changed the writing and recording process creating a darker, less danceable album. This week we talked to hip-hop nomad aLunarLanding. He uses cartoons to take his quick thoughts and let them play out in 4-panel stories about mundane but relatable experiences. He started his musical journey as a freestyle rapper for fun and it wasn't until he moved back to Florida that he found his place in the indie hip-hop scene. Performing live gives him the ability to connect with more people, wanting artists and audiences alike to know they can be themselves while at his shows. This week we talked to Philly-based bummer rock band, Booze Radly. While the band seems to have varying tastes in terms of activity, Dylan and Alex agree that DDR: Mario Mix is the superior version. Most of the band has known each other for most of their lives, participating in several other projects separately, it was only a matter of time before they started on together. Their recent release ‘Lose, Badly’ was meant to experiment with their already established sound, including a variety of different genres. This week we talked to wandering Emo artist, Full Blown Meltdown. He spends his mornings lifting weights and the rest of his day uplifting people to the point of breaking world records. After taking a brief hiatus from music, he jumped back in learning how to play guitar, sing, and write his own music. Now that he’s making music again, he plans to release a string of singles followed by his debut album and already has plans for a second. While his recording process is unorthodox, recording in cars, hotels, and wherever else he can fit a mic, he has been able to write and record more than enough songs for both albums. This week we talked to New Jersey-based Emo band Fox Teeth. While neither Sawyer or Andrew are chefs, they do their best to make food from their respective styles, Vegan and The Sopranos. The band’s design choices stem from a history of graphic design, synesthesia, and Andrew’s unwavering support. The Sophomore LP ‘Through the Blue’ was created through experimentation, doubt, and the freedom of developing their style further. This week we talked to Vorsp, the only Midwest emo band on Oahu. The average amount of time it takes to read a book is probably less than 4 years, but he intends to take exactly that much time to publicly read Diary of A Wimpy Kid. His music began as parodies, creating two full Minecraft albums before deciding to drop the pickaxe and pick up the guitar. His most recent EP ‘Bonnie’ didn't have an intentional theme, but in retrospect depicts the past present, and future. Currently, he’s working on his next album which he says will include the best Vorsp songs that have yet to be released.
This week we talked to Fataday Korngor, punk in spirit, pop in personality. He doesn’t have much free time, but the amount that he does he spends adventuring with his friends, playing DnD. His pursuit of music began at an early age, inspired by Elmo and The Wiggles to pick up a guitar and create art. His debut album ‘Messing with the Brightness’, focuses on his personal experiences and helps him to express his emotions through a creative outlet. Being active through sports is something he’s done since childhood, now as an adult he prioritizes finding and organizing communities through it. Having started in high school, he uses poetry as a tool to refine his songwriting in addition to the collection of poems he has written. His Debut EP ‘Felt LIke Forever’ was his first extended release after feeling ready to commit to his solo project. This week we welcome back Joey Micelli. Since the last time, we talked he has released 2 albums, written in tandem, with 2 entirely different concepts. The album we talked about today is sonically different than all the music he’s made before, with lyrics reflecting himself, his past, and his growth. The Standard Portrait is meant to be an introspective look at a more somber period of Joey’s life. He wants to make a point of his music evolving, creating a character to personify this era of his music.
This week we talked to Slime Lus, DIY Rock based in Oklahoma. The band advises never to go to Oklahoma as it is a confused state and doesn't know where it belongs. When they aren’t arguing about bread and its familial relation to cake, they do make music together. Their debut album Custom Slaughter is an acknowledgment of how they experienced professional burnout through their chosen careers since 2020. An avid thrifter, her closet is full of sustainably sourced clothes, and while it's neutral in color now her style is constantly changing. This week we talked to Melina KB, theatrical singer-songwriter from Massachusets. Over the past few years, she’s found new passions, indoor cycling and finding little mementos on her adventures to keep in scrapbooks. A fan of hideous statement pieces and collecting everything he is interested in, he has accrued over 365 shirts and 700 board games in his collecting endeavors. After taking some time away from his solo music, Mt. Oriander is Keith Latinen’s reignition of his solo music career. He released the project’s debut Album ‘Then the Lightness Leaves and I Become Heavy Again” in October of 2022 and is currently touring the east coast. Inspired by her dad, she has been learning to cook for the past several years and soon hopes to dethrone his as the chef of the house In a chopped-style cookoff. Before music, her passion was medicine and while she didn't take that path she still takes the time to read textbooks about the human body. The band’s first inspirations leaned into pop/punk and rock, but they have since expanded their listening tastes to include more pop, synth, and melancholy. Their recent EP SCP touches on more mature life experiences, moving into synth and taking a more reflective tone. This week we talked to Maggie of the pop rock band, glimmers. Her interest in musical theatre helped to push her to travel with her interests lying mostly in big cities choosing New York over Disney every time. While her first love was theatre she soon found that fronting a band was more her speed and founded glimmers. The band’s music focuses on storytelling, going so far as to release a music video per song to create a more full experience. He has recently discovered a love for pretentious, artsy movies that he gets to discuss with his grandfather, a very patient film professor. This week we talked to Jesse Lobell of Pheonix based MEGAFLOWER. His arm is adorned with subconsciously beloved characters from Donkey Kong and his shelves are covered with even more Nintendo memorabilia. He started making music videos across genres with the ultimate goal of making those videos for his own band. After a few years of writing and production, the band decided to release their music in 2021 as Megaflower. This week we talked to Philly base Power-pop Band, Riverby. Most of the band plays D&D; soon enough, so will the rest when August forces them to playtest their first adventure. The band's musical influences range from classical, Primus, and universally My Chemical Romance. Each song on their recent album 'Absolution' went through plenty of changes, the album was more collaborative than their first record. His love of horror movies stemmed from being scarred as a child by a Micheal Myers cosplayer, leading to him eventually scoring horror films. This week we talked to Amanda Tran of In The Mourning, a pop-rock band based in LA. She is an avid collector of vinyl, so much so that she can switch her display wall on a monthly basis. Vinyl isn't the only thing she collects, with an estimated 200 band tees hidden away in her drawers and countless ugly Christmas sweaters stored away. She has experience in all types of music from woodwind, to acapella, and solo bedroom pop, but decided that she needed a band to really experience her music. The band recently released their first single 'At What Cost' and may or may not be releasing new music in January of 2022.

This week we talked to Josh Ritchie, a singer-songwriter based in Canada. Growing up he was surrounded by music but didn't grasp onto it until an unfortunate soccer injury. While he still keeps up with soccer it isn't his primary focus anymore. In the past year, he has worked to make his music more socially aware, his most recent EP focuses on his experiences with the Black Lives Matter Movement and his upcoming Album speaks on togetherness and peace.

This week we talked to SRY, a trap-pop artist from Williamsport Pennsylvania. As a creative, music isn't his only outlet; denim, leather, and other materials make their way into his creative process through his custom clothes. He makes jackets, pants, and all other sorts of clothes for himself, his fans, and even other artists. He's able to help other musicians make their music as well, both as a writer and as the person who runs the recording studio. His sound is unique and his most recent single 'Crybaby' is out now, just a taste of what's to come.

Today we talked to Lena Fine an Indie Pop artist from New Jersey with aspirations to have her name in the credits of a sitcom somewhere in the future. Having started music at a very young age with the help of Hannah Montanna she was able to release her first EP at the age of 14. This week we talked to Barrence, Mike, and Gio of The Brown Goose, an alternative rock group from Florida. When the band isn't on the road packing vans and playing shows, they're training for packing their vans and playing shows by weightlifting and exercising in general. The origins of The Brown Goose started with Mike who, after seeing his other bandmates perform in separate bands, invited them to join The Brown Goose. They recently released their first album 'This is The Way' and will be touring the south east coast to showcase their new music.

She has been writing since a very young age and her journaling helps her with her song development as well. Today we spoke with Laurel & Maddock, an indie-pop duo from New Jersey. The two are married and have had the pleasure of exploring parts of the world together and intend to continue to do so, drawing inspiration all the while. They both also have their own separate creative outlets in fashion and engraving respectively. The band draws inspiration not only from the world and its culture but from other musicians and their life expereiences. Today we talked to Squilliam Fancyson, a rapper named after the iconic Spongebob character. He spends his free time reading and playing RPGs, immersing himself in other worlds. While he hasn't made a world of his own yet, a concept album isn't out of the cards for the future. After a realization that you don't need to be born with music magic, he decided to give it a shot, drawing from some of his own experiences he is shifting to make more emotionally driven music. He is currently set to release an album in late August.

Today we talked to Mylesie, an Indie pop artist from San Francisco. Having been the camera kid in his early school days, he developed his ability to make his own music videos today. While he isn't making videos or music he is deep-diving into the infamous 'Important videos' playlist or something of that nature, on Youtube. He recently released his debut album 'Lilac' after two EPs. Since those EPs he has been able to fill his sound and make music in a much smarter way; he plans to continue developing his musical abilities and plans on releasing a row part sister album to Lilac.

Today we talked with Ariel Bellvalaire, a Pop-punk artist from Connecticut. We talked about how her high energy got her involved in gymnastics and how her love for it brought her into a circus workout program. Her shows incorporate her skills in music as well as her aerial abilities. Drawing inspiration from (and wanting to be) Avril Lavigne, she occupies a new age of pop-punk with a dash of shredding the guitar. Having recently released two singles, she is currently working on an album and getting on the road.

This week ew talked to 7evin7ins, a rap/hip hop artist turned pop-punk. While he is currently pursuing music he used to spend all of his time on the basketball court. He, like many others in the genre, likes to spend his free time watching anime and playing video games. His music is raw and personal; a reflection of himself in his music to grow closer to his fans. While he doesn't have any large projects in the works he hopes to have some done in the near future, until then we can expect more singles and a feature from a mystery artist.
