Welcome to the Truth Box PodCast! My name is Bill Payne and for the last Thirty Eight years, I’ve been a Missionary, Teacher and Leader in Youth With A Mission and the University of the Nations. Apart from a variety of leadership roles and projects; teaching, training, discipleship, mentoring and leadership development have been the core of my ministry. The focus of my life has been reaching the lost, discipling God’s people, raising up young leaders, mentoring and advising mission bases and churches. I’ve been travelling and and ministering all over the globe in mission schools, churches, seminars and conferences in over 55 nations. Like so many others, Covid 19 has at least temporarily changed all of that, limiting travel, face-to-face classroom teaching and ministry gatherings. Over the past year, I’ve been challenged by God and numerous others to embrace a new approach to spreading and multiplying these foundational, life-changing teachings.
We look at what Biblical leaders are meant to do. What are the tools they have in their tool box. ultimitely when all is said and done a leader is meant to lead and to do so God's way for God's benefit. This also means there are common leadership practices that we aught not to do.
Biblical Leadership Principles part # 3. We continue to look at the Biblical picture of a leader. In this picture, the Bible paints a contrast of "aughts" and "aught nots" for a leader. It tells us what a leader "is" and what a leader "is not"; what a leader "has" and what a leader "does not have"; what a leader "does" and what a leader "does not to do".

"What a Leader Is"
A Biblical leader is a principled leader. Though the Bible is not a handbook on leadership, it does lay out principled path for all leaders to walk. It paints a picture of the kind of leader God wants in the Body of Christ. We either lead His way or by default will lead our way - the world's way. The same goes with followers. Leaders and followers walk the same path - in step with the same Biblical Principles.
This week in Truth Box, we will look at what a Biblical leader "is" and what a Biblical leader "is not"

Spiritual Warfare Part # 5
This week on Truth Box we will finish our series on Spiritual Warfare by looking at the full Armour of God. More than just a metaphor, it describes a way of Life that assures the victory that Jesus won for us at the cross.
We will also ask the question; What are our objectives in this Spiritual Battle. What is the end game? The Enemy has a goal, do we? What does God want to accomplish in us and through us as we stand firm against the Schemes of the devil.
We will take a closer look at the “Weapons of our Warfare” and our Spiritual Armour. How does Spiritual Warfare play out for the Christian day by day? What is the true authority of the Believer and what does the Bible mean when it declares that we have the authority of “binding and loosing”
In a world where the Enemy is already judged and the ultimate victory is absolutely certain, What is the nature of our warfare? Who is doing the fighting? Who is our enemy and most importantly; what is the end game? What does God want to accomplish through us?
What is the ultimate objective - the very reason there is Spiritual Warfare?

We look at the battle that is still being waged in the Spiritual Realm and try to answer the question, why there is a battle at all? We will paint the big picture an ongoing historical drama that began in the Garden of Eden. Victory was truly cemented for all eternity in the Cross and Resurrection. But God's people are not to lay down their armour until all is accomplished. The spiritual struggle that is all around us and the enemy that we face are very real. Every Christian needs to understand the true nature of the war we wage in His name for His purposes.
Last week, we laid the foundations for understanding our role in Spiritual Warfare. The Bible tells us we are in a struggle or battle. But it also declares that the Victory is already won for us. We do not fight for Victory but from a place of Victory. Still there is much to be won and much to be lost if God's Children do not take up the fight. Too many Christians either ignore the battle altogether, under estimate the enemy or they become overwhelmingly focused and fixated on the powers of darkness. Still others have no idea what authority God has given them and how they can walk in confidence and stand against the schemes of the enemy.

This Thursday on Truth Box, we will finish our discussion on the Balanced Christian life. In previous weeks we looked at "Being a Child" "Becoming like Jesus" and "Belonging to the Body of Christ" This week we will look at "Building the Kingdom of God" The mandate of the Church is not for a select chosen few. It is meant to be embraced by all Christians everywhere. To be a Christian is to engage this world as Christ did and to serve His agenda. As we pray the prayer; "Your Kingdom Come" we'll take a look at how we can contribute to God's Kingdom .
Belonging to the Body of Christ.
This week on Truth Box we will focus on importance of the Body Of Christ. What is it? Why it is and how are we to fit it, belong, contribute and even help grow the Church. One thing is clear in Scripture, the Christian life is not an independent life. We are meant to be part of something bigger than ourselves. Today, the Church has too often been reduced to a meeting, an event. But from Gods perspective, it is His family, and His agency for change and transformation on the planet.
This week in Truth Box we will continue to look at Discipleship and Transformation. What does the Bible mean to have the mind of Christ and to be transformed into the image of Jesus? This is really about learning to value what God values; to love what He loves and to hate what He hates.
God calls every Christian to grow in Godly Character reflecting the person and love of Jesus in all we do. It is described as a walk. According to Ephesians 4:1, we are to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which we have been called.
The heart of Christianity is intimacy with God but God does have an agenda for His children. 1 John 3:2 says "Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him..." God is at work molding His children into the image of a Jesus. The Christian journey includes a remarkable transformation. Every day we should look a little more like Jesus. And every day the world should see more of Jesus in us.

"Intimacy with God"
This week in Truth Box, we will continue to look at what it is to BE a child of God. It's all about intimacy How do we grow in our intimacy with God?
Well, we can't just take an intimacy pill.
It's something that has to grow and its growth depends on feeding it the right fuel. Like baking a cake, if you put the right ingredients in the bowl and follow instruction the outcome will be assured. It's the same thing with Intimacy with God. He has given us the recipe. He has a blueprint for Discipleship and it begins with Being.
2 Timothy 3:16, 17 tells us "All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work". God has a plan to Disciple His children to bring them into a balanced, mature Christ centered life.
This week in Truth Box, we will take a look at the ingredients for Discipleship. God's blueprint for discipleship involves four foundational things; Being, Becoming, Belonging and Building. The bulk of the New Testament addresses these four pillars of the Christian life.
There is a man-made Religion that closely resembles Christianity. It has all the trapping, traditions and ceremonies. It promotes good behavior. It wears the banner of Christ proudly and proclaims adherence to Jesus loudly. It looks, smells and sounds like Christianity, but it lacks the true substance, life and Spirit of Christianity. It is a house with no foundation. The Pharisees new of a similar religion, one that fell far short of God’s plan.
True Christianity is about Relationship with God. It is about “who we live for” and not only about “what we do”. It begins with the Ultimate Intention of our Hearts.
Discipleship begins not with agreeing to go to Heaven but with being reconciled to God. What is it to be reconciled to God? Jesus painted two equally powerful pictures of God's great enterprise on Planet Earth. One is the picture of Family where God is the Father and we are all wayward children being called Home. The other is a picture of a loving and merciful King who calls us to abandon our rebellion and return to God our Father and King. This is the beginning of our discipleship journey to be reconciled to God.
"The Cost of Discipleship"
Following Jesus" What does following Jesus really look like. Saying we are followers is not the same as actually following. Jesus said “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me. For some Christians something is missing. Join us this week as we talk about the cost of Following Jesus.
Introduction to Discipleship
What is God doing in his church and through His church, which really comes down to; what is God doing in me, in my character, in my relationships and in my church? Too many Christians think that God's work in their lives is done. They are saved, certain of Heaven and now let's just get on with an average, ordinary life. But all through scripture, we see that God has a plan. He has Heavenly ambitions for a fallen world. God has a vision of the future. He has goals and objectives and you are an important part of that. God has expectations of every believer. And it all starts with being reconciled to God.
This week we will continue our discussion on the heart of God. He is Abba Father. But the idea of a father may not be good news for many and for all of us we struggle with a distorted picture of God. Jesus came not just to reveal the Father but to forever change the way we see and personally know God. He sent His Spirit to continue the revelation, that we might truly know "Abba Father".
We can know God as Creator, as King of all Kings. We can know him as Savior and Lord. But Jesus reveals the true heart of God - that He is a Father in the most intimate sense. This life altering revelation can be known and experienced personally by all Jesus followers. Roman 8: 16 tells us that The Spirit Himself testifies (or bears witness) with our spirit that we are children of God.
One of the most shocking and Intimate pictures of God was revealed to us by Jesus. God is many things but at the heart of the Creator is a Father who loves His children. Many of us have a broken, limited, narrow views of God. Jesus showed us that He is truly our Father. If only we could see it, believe it and walk in it.
God chose the Cross to accomplish great and wonderful things.
This week we will continue answering the question; “Why the Cross?” Why were the sufferings and death of Jesus on the cross absolutely necessary? What did it accomplish and what is our right response to the Cross?
Last week we discussed a number of theories about the Cross and examined whether they fit with the Character of God. This week, we continue to look at God's plan of Redemption and ask; Why was the Cross so necessary and what does the Cross accomplish for God and for the benefit of mankind?
There are many theories of what actually took place on the Cross and how God dealt with sin, with the powers of darkness, and the rebellious heart of Mankind. But it is not the theories of the cross that brings us to salvation but the fact of the Cross. This week we will take a brief look at the prevailing theories of the Atonement.
The center piece of God's redemption plan for mankind is the Cross and the Atonement. We will begin to unravel some of the mysteries of the Cross. Why it was necessary and why it is so very important to Christ Followers.
The worst consequence of the Fall of Mankind is NOT what it has done to man. The Cross is a picture of the injustice and cost of sin and selfishness to God. Join the discussion as we wrap up our series on the consequences of the Fall.
We continue discussing one of the most difficult and controversial topics in the Bible - HELL. And we hope to answer the question; What is the worst Consequence of man's rebellion against God? Is it Hell or is there something even worse?
We continue our discussion on the Fall of mankind and its consequences. One of the huge questions we have is about Hell. Is it real and what exactly is it?
The Consequences of THE FALL. We live in a fallen, broken world. Why is the World the way it is? We examine the fruit of our Sin and Selfishness!
The first Sin and the Fall of Mankind. We continue our look into what actually happened in the Garden of Eden; what Sin is and how it contaminated everything.
The Fall of Mankind: Was the Garden of Eden myth, fantasy, metaphor or history?We unfold the events of the Garden of Eden and examine what the Bible says about the Fall of Mankind and how it shaped the hearts and minds of all mankind for all generations.
As we further explore what the Bible reveals about the Character of God. We will finish our discussion on the Love of God and begin unwrap the Genesis story of Creation, Adam and Eve and the Fall of Mankind.
Understanding the love of God for us is the foundation upon which the entire gospel makes sense. One of the greatest lies of the enemy is that "God doesn't love me" When we struggle with God's love, we are really are struggling with faith in God. And we still have not seen the heart of the Cross. To truly and deeply know the love of God is to live in freedom and victory.
The Bible declared that Gods love for each of us is unfailing, everlasting and unconditional. But if we ever really grasped how great the love of God is for us, we would live with such unshakable confidence, and assurance. God proclaims it and demonstrates it. The only question is do we really believe it?
Created in God's Image, there is much we can know about God through His design and in His purposes in creating us as a small reflection of Himself. Who are we and what are we made of?
This Session we continued to answer the question; Why did God create us? Too often, we think God created us for what He could get from us or for what we could do for Him. Is it not reasonable, knowing His Character, that perhaps God created to give something away and to include us in something wonderful and already established from eternity past. God created us "to be" not simply "to do".
The answer to this question will deeply effect your picture of God, His motives, His heart, His priorities and even His plans. It will also speak to your personal value and worth. We need to get this right.
In this session we unravel some of the mystery of the Trinity. This is where our picture of God begins.
Jesus said so much about Truth and Revelation. He said He is the Truth and the Bible describes Him as a light of Revelation to the world. What does this mean for us? How can we know the Truth and how does this truth set us free? This session we talk about the ultimate authority in our lives.
The two most life diminishing problems we can have is to have a wrong picture of God and a wrong picture of Self. One of the primary reasons Jesus came was to reveal who the Father truly is and who we are meant to be. This session we looked at how to change the things in our Truth Box.
The Bible tells us that the human condition is that we all walk in darkness. We are all deceived. But where did the lies come from and what is the path out of this deception? In this discuss we look at the many influences on our Truth Box.
Jesus told Pilot that He had come to earth "to bear witness of the Truth". He said this was the very reason He was born. But what is Truth and why did the Father send His Son to be a Truth or Revelation bearer? Because the number one problem for all of humanity, every generation and every culture is a problem of deception. We are all in darkness.
In this first discussion, we look at the difference between information and revelation. We also ask two very important questions: Why did Jesus come to Earth in the flesh or what was his primary mission? The second question is more philosophical; how do we know all the things we know? The answers to these questions allow us to examine what we believe and why we believe it. This first step in our Truth Box journey is just the beginning of understanding of the profound impact that Revelation and Truth has on our lives as we walk with Jesus.
