We tried to cover everything this season. There was so much to talk about and even after having a lengthier conversation than usual we still felt like there was more to discuss.
But here's what we go over
What did we think of the season overall? And what did we not like? Okay, I'll say it right here because it should be obvious, Russia! A glaring weakness this season. But we talk about why and what could've been done better.
The Upsidedown. Since the duffers have a lot left to answer about it in season 5 we are left to theorize about it. This includes how was it created? Why is it locked in time? And who's in charge around here? The Mind Flayer or Vecna?
We give credit to the attention to detail on this show. The continuity, the clothing, the hair, all of it!
I think we also find time to speak about every single character. While giving special attention to our hero

After marathoning the original Toy Story trilogy we were excited and ready to see our favorite space ranger on the big screen again!
And to our surprise...it was quite disappointing. I wish we can say we enjoyed it more. Caroline made an effort to write out a pros and cons list. However, the pros list was pretty short.

So today we are finishing off the Toy Story Franchise. It feels like it came and went so fast but here we are.
We begin this episode by responding to our first-ever emails! These in particular are about the Elbow Nudge art direction. We take this opportunity to share a little bit behind the scenes of how we came up with our logo and characters. Now onto Toy Story 3
With this movie being so special to us we share the stories of our first time watching Toy Story 3. How we related to it and why it feels so important.
We also get into how much of a success Toy Story 3 was. In the box office and with critics and fans.
I briefly bring up how the sound of a marker writing on cardboard is incredibly irritating. That was a mistake...
Who were some of our favorite newly introduced Toys? Ken, Chuckles, Lotso?!
Team Andy or Team Sunny side? When is it time to give up on your kid and look out for yourselves? Is it wrong to stop supporting Andy?
This is a franchise that spanned over 15 years (Toy Story 1-3) so naturally, there are going to be a lot of emotional scenes going into the finale of this trilogy. So which scene did we think was the saddest?
Although this is a Toy Story 3 conversation we did find ways to talk about Toy Story 4. Did we need it? And will we be open to a Toy Story 5?
Honestly, the whole episode is just expressing our love for this movie without much to criticize about it. If you guys feel the same way I hope we did this movie justice for you.

Lightyear is fast approaching so we figured now is the best time to finally start the Toy Story franchise. And this works out perfectly because it is Pixar's first animated film. So here we are where it all began.
We saw Toy Story as kids so revisiting this movie as adults gives us a whole new perspective. We finally get to see and appreciate the deeper more emotional aspects of this movie. But before that, we share our stories about how this movie influenced our childhood. How it changed the way we look at toys. And overall what this movie meant to us.

At first, I wrote it off to be Disney+ fodder. But after Caroline suggested it's a movie worth discussing, I realized how wrong I was.
There's a lot to talk about here.
First of all, how were they able to show all these characters that Disney doesn't even own?
How did Chip n' Dale manage to pull off a reboot in an age when reboots are played out and usually done poorly?
What does this movie say about Hollywood and celebrity culture?
Is this a movie kids will enjoy?
And the most crucial revelation in our discussion, there might be a much darker story behind what's going on with Sweet Pete.

In today's episode we are covering the world-renowned and James Gunn approved, Spirited Away.
And right on time for Spirited Away Day!
This was an interesting movie for sure. I'm going into this watching it for the first time. And Caroline has seen this many times before. So we are coming at this from very different perspectives. And there is a lot to go over.
I was left thinking about character motivations. And what is the mystery behind this strange other world.
Caroline also gives good behind the scenes information on Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki. And more specifically his mindset behind his storytelling.
This movie leaves you with a lot to think about. There are moments and people and themes that can mean different things to different people. And that's the best part about it.
So here we are today, joining the conversation on this 2001 classic.

This week we are talking Speed!
So how does this classic 90's action movie, starring Keanu Reeves, hold up?
And also what do we think of the acting in this movie?
There is a list of actors who show up that might surprise you if you're watching this movie for the first time. And a few of them seem to be acting...well, not how we're used to seeing them act.
And then, and most importantly, we go over what I am now calling
The Caroline Coffee Conundrum
In Speed, our man protagonist Jack stops for a cup of coffee. He leaves the coffee cup on the hood of his car and in the heat of the moment he drives off forgetting that its there.
This rookie coffee drinker mistake was a nightmare for Caroline to witness. The image of watching good coffee go to waste will haunt her for decades.
So we ask the question, What would she have done if she was near the scene of this terrible accident?
Would she yell out to Jack in horror to possibly prevent this coffee spill?
Or would she have dived for it in a valiant effort to salvage that heavenly brew?
The answer will shock you!
Okay maybe not but it's a good conversation nonetheless.

Long time Sonic Fan, Caroline, and I, casual Sonic enjoyer whose never beat one of his games, come together this week to talk about this live action Sonic movie.
So what did we think? Does this movie stay true to the games? Well...yeah, surprisingly. We get into how it does that.
What about how it ranks amongst other video game based movies? Not too bad, but for specific reasons.
Also what do we think about Olive Garden? Yes this is relevant to the movie. If you've seen it you will know why.

How does Sky High compare to My Hero Academia?
We find out they have a lot more in common than we think at first.

Especially if there's a cute little baby monkey that likes to play innocent little pranks on you.

It was a clashing of perspectives between a loyal Sharpette and a die-hard Sharphater but we managed to work this out.
And just like before, we bring our personal rankings of the High School Musical 2 soundtrack.
After listening to it everyday this week we are ready to give you our definitive lists.
However, we mostly had to go our own way this time around because we basically had exact opposite opinions on which songs were better than others.
We were not all for one.
It must be the music in me from the first High School Musical because these had me feeling like I don't Dan- Ahhhhlright that's it!

Today we experience Interstellar. There, is so much going on with this movie. We do our best to explore all the ideas it has to show us. Worm holes, Black holes, Gravitational Time Dilation, Theory of Relativity, The Fourth and Fifth Dimensions, Singularity, Tesseract, And the most confusing of them all...Love.
It's not possible to cover every idea that was shown in the movie. But it's necessary.
We did it.
We entered the furthest depths of the mind of Stanley Kubrick. Decades of humanity's technological advancements has led to this. But our mission was not an easy one. We journeyed through an array of multicolored vistas. Traveled through multiple dimensions and various levels of consciousness to reach our final destination. And what do we find?
The Black Monolith.
Within it contains the greatest gift to humanity. 2001: A Space Odyssey. The 1968 film that made waves across the galaxy. Forever influencing future generations of film makers and cinema itself. A film so prestigious that it is considered to be the greatest sci-fi movie of all time.
But what do we think? Do we agree? Did Stanley Kubrick convince us to embrace the glory of the mighty Black Monolith?

Return to Me is a romantic comedy. Another genre of movie that I typically wouldn't watch. But it was actually quite interesting. It has a lot of great talking points because it has a pretty unique story.
It's about a man named Bob who loses his wife, Elizabeth, due to a car accident. And her heart is then transplanted into another woman, Grace, who was in need of it. Unaware of the connection they have to each other, Bob and Grace eventually cross paths and fall in love with each other.
So we get into the questions that come up while watching this movie. When you get the heart of another person, what kind of connection do you have with the people who loved that person? How do you react if you find out some one else has the heart of someone you loved?
These are much deeper questions but our conversation is mostly lighthearted. It is a romantic comedy after all.

This week we watched a movie recommended by a friend. The Willoughbys. It's a Netflix animated movie about a group of weird but lovable children who have terribly awful parents. So they look for ways to form a more "ideal" family.
Thanks Ashley for this week's recommendation. I probably wouldn't have seen this movie on my own. But I'm glad we did because it's worth it for Jane's song alone.
This movie brought up some interesting conversation. About parenthood, what families really are, the movie's animation style, and of course, the gift and curse of having a beautiful mustache.

For our final episode of the year we decided to look back and talk about all the movies, shows, and even documentaries, we have seen in 2021. We can't cover it all on each podcast episode so we do our best to summarize our thoughts on each one and delve deeper into a few that stood out to us.
We start off by sharing our New Year resolutions. Hopefully you have also decided on a resolution to take on in 2022.
Then we do a quick MCU recap. That's right, we were able to give a brief overview of all MCU movies and shows that came out this year. Okay not all of the MCU. We still have some catching up to do. But I was still surprised by how much we covered.
After that, well, we just open up the flood gates. We talk about a ton of movies. But to give you an idea, I'll name a few that we talked about at a longer length than the others.

This year is coming to a close. I'm sure, for many of you, there are a lot of moments to look back fondly on. And also, a lot of difficult times we want to forget. I know that is true for me. But I'm choosing to remember this year as a good one. Because there is a lot to be grateful for. We started this podcast this year. It's been such a great experience so far and one of the highlights of my year. So I want to take the time to thank everyone who reached out to us personally. Who gave us words of encouragement. And who told us they enjoyed listening to us. I appreciate you guys and Thank You for caring about what we are starting here.

Hello Everyone! We are back with another recommendation episode. It's where we each pick a movie that we've seen and the other person hasn't. Make them watch the movie we picked for them. Then we come back here and find out what we thought about them. It's always a good time!
First we go over Fracture. A movie where a man finds out that his wife is cheating on him. So he decides to murder her. And he plans every meticulous detail to make sure that he gets away with it scot free. Or does he?
Then we cover John Q. A movie about a father who will stop at nothing, and will do anything, to save his son from a life threating disease, even if he has to take over a hospital and hold everyone hostage inside of it.
Okay so these aren't exactly uplifting movies for this time of year. But they are still great movies (No matter what rotten tomatoes has to say about them).
We'll make sure to bring the holiday spirit in the next episode. But in the meantime, enjoy the show and thanks for listening!

We'll find out how Caroline almost became The Batman.
And we'll discover who Beverly is....actually...no we won't.

Caroline just couldn't resist recommending me a western. But I got through it and it was pretty good.
With an all star cast including Matt Damon, Jeff Bridges, Hailee Steinfeld, and Josh Brolin I can proudly say I never once referred to them as Knock off theatre Loki, Obadiah Stane, Kate Bishop or Thanos!... Okay we mention Thanos but only for a little bit.
