Can you believe the Restored Living Podcast is 52 episodes old?!?! We are blown away by what the Lord has done with this podcast since he asked us to start it back in the fall of 2021. So in honor of hitting 50 episodes we thought it was time to do a refresher on our personal restoration story that started Restored Living... starting with Josh's version of the story. Stay tuned for Jaelyn's version next week!

We left no stone unturned in this episode and you will see what we mean. Josh graciously shares about the points in his childhood that led to all of the different brokenness in his life including a pornography addiction, sexual brokenness, body image issues, and same sex attraction and the restoration God has done in his life as Josh has pursued healing.

This is a powerful episode and we pray that through this testimony whether you are a man or woman you will see the Restoration Power that God can bring into our lives if we let Him!

We're BACK! After some time off for spring break and easter we have a fresh word we wanted to share with our amazing Restored Living Community.

In today's episode we are talking about the topics of positive affirmations and self-sufficiency and how they unfortunately don't have the ability to heal or restore the way we hope they will. Many times we use these practices to try and skip over the necessary grief and pain that is a part of the healing process. Don't worry though there is hope for your healing and it's found in this episode friends!

We are so excited for this weeks episode, as Josh is joined by our good friend Chris Teague. Chris and his wife Stephanie lead a beautiful ministry called Out of the Dust. Their story of restoration from devastation is truly a testimony to what God will do with a willing heart surrendered to Him, and they make some amazing music that comes from that place ;].

This week, Chris and Josh are discussing topics that can especially be difficult for men: Intimacy, Emotional Awareness, Loneliness, Grief, and ultimately how God invites men (and truly all of us) into a more whole life when we bring our whole selves to Him. We pray that this episode blesses you and leads you to embrace deeper intimacy with the Lord, and a deeper connection to yourself and those you love.

Today we have a listener suggested topic we are addressing and its quite the conversation around body-image and self worth and where health lies in the midst of this whole conversation concerning our bodies.

Today Jaelyn and Josh dive into the topic of Coveting our Bodies and talk about 3 camps (traps) we can find ourselves in coveting our body image

The Camp of Complacency

The Camp of Comparison

And the Camp of Covering

We hope you enjoyed this candid conversation and learning more about what Restored Living means when it comes to our body image and self worth and how to avoid idolatry in the process when pursuing a better version of ourselves.

What if finding deliverance is less about asking God to set you free from something and more about asking God for more of Him? What if deliverance was more about being brought into a NEW way of living instead of being brought OUT of an old one? What if the key to finding freedom in this life really is completely and totally found in surrendering to the person of Jesus?

This week, Josh and Jaelyn dive into their own experiences of deliverance (which are very different) and discuss how experiencing it didn’t come in the way they expected.

We hope this message shows you just how great God is, and that it gives you hope that your own deliverance, from whatever your “thing” may be, is found in a place of total surrender and dependence on Him

It's no secret that people are leaving the church. We recently did a Reel on Instagram where we talked about the nostalgia of growing up in the 90s church culture and it wasn't surprising when we shared about the legalism in church culture in that time we were met with... "This is why I left the church" and unfortunately this is still happening today.

In today's episode, we talk about the "Jesus Super Bowl Commercial of 2024" and how we have seen Christians respond. It's been eye-opening to say the least and addresses a very important topic that has been on our hearts this past month.

Are we being loud about the right things?

Are we being loud about what Jesus was loud about?

Join us as we explore what it looks like to be loud about our faith in love and grace without being soft about our convictions keeping the Gospel of Christ at the forefront of our hearts. We hope that this conversation is an open door to the power of grace AND truth. To connect with us please check out

Do you ever wonder what exactly the Holy Spirit is and how does the Holy Spirit actually work when it comes to our faith journey...

Well this week I (Jaelyn) got to have a chat with one of my greatest friends and amazing life coach Stef Thayer about a topic we both love THE HOLY SPIRIT.

We hit so many topics including how to discern what the Holy Spirit is saying to you, How to hear the Holy Spirit, and so much more. We hope that this conversation gives you more clarity on how the Holy Spirit can be a dynamic part of your walk with Jesus.

This week's topic is one we've received several questions on recently. So here we are UNPACKING PURITY CULTURE. For those of you who didn't grow up in the Christian Church in the late 90's early 2000's this conversation may be a new one for you but hang in with us though because whether you grew up in the church or not this episode is going to unpack some issues with Sexuality that need to be talked about in culture today. With a new year comes new words God speaks to us. Today on the Restored Living Podcast we are sharing what we feel God is speaking to us as we enter into 2024. If you didn't catch Pt 1 of this two part new years episode we would encourage you to go back and listen before venturing in on this episode where we talk about a really "churchy" word. Priesthood.

In this second episode Jae shares more about how being a part of the priesthood with Jesus has helped eliminate her struggle with anger and anxiety as well as how the practice of sitting at the feet of Jesus daily has changed her outlook on what it means to Delight in the Lord. If you are curious what it looks like to live out this mission of priesthood amidst the busyness of life, from stay at home moms to working dads, this episode is for you.

With a new year comes new words God speaks to us. Today on the Restored Living Podcast we are sharing what we feel God is speaking to us as we enter into 2024. In fact, this episode had so much meat in it we had to split it into two parts!! One about Prayer and one about Priesthood.

In this first episode Josh shares his honest and raw thoughts on the subject of PRAYER including his personal testimony from 2023 and the deliverance God gave him through the power of prayer. The Holy Spirit was in this conversation for sure. Whether you pray a lot or a little we hope this conversation helps you understand prayer better and the impact it can have on your life.

In this episode of our Navigating Culture Series we talk about a subject that Everyone loves talking about (especially christians during a giving campaign) MONEY!!! Stewardship of our finances is a hot topic especially around the Christmas season (which is when this is airing). No matter how you feel about the subject of money and financials we encourage you to join us as we talk about money mindsets in culture and how to navigate these mindsets with a gospel centered restored lens. How can we approach our finances when we are killin it or when we are struggling? Listen in.

As Christians, we are called to live in the world and not of the world. Well, that is getting increasingly harder to do in this cultural landscape of 2023 heading into 2024. It can be tempting to just want to lock yourself in a room and shelter yourself and your kids from "the evil we see going on". But here at the Restored Living Podcast we don't believe that's THE WAY Jesus wanted us to live in the world.

We often think of grief in the context of death, but in reality, grief occurs anytime there is a loss in our lives. While this can be the loss of someone we love it can also be the loss of a dream, a community, our innocence, or our youth, or it can be the loss of how we thought our marriage was supposed to be. In this week's episode, we discuss what grief is, and how God sees our grief and uses it in our healing. We acknowledge this episode may have triggers for your own grief or loss as you listen in with us if that is the case we encourage you to engage with other safe people in your grief whether that be a licensed professional or a trusted safe friend. You were not made to journey the road of grief alone.

TRANSITION. We are finding this is a very timely topic for many right now. So let's talk about it. God is moving and positioning people in certain places in the world right now. This might look like a career move, a spiritual move, a mental move, or a physical move. However, in order to move we have to go from one place to another and that involves. TRANSITION. Join us as we dive into a few topics regarding transition.

  • What does God have to say about transition times?
  • How do we know if this transition is one the Lord is leading you into?
  • Daily practices to navigate transition seasons.
  • Transitions we see in scripture.
  • How to get through the waiting of the transition.

Since we are entering into a new season of the podcast, we have decided to switch up how we do the podcast a little bit by having our first "Let's talk about..." Segment. No filter, no notes, just authentic discussions about a current hot cultural topic. I think there is so much that we can learn from one another when we open up the floor for discussion about topics that matter in our culture. Here at Restored Living, we want to show you how God works in the cracks of culture and shines brightly. We believe that our discussion today does just that.

Here's a little synopsis of our discussion today:

Our Stories of coming to Jesus and our history as PK's (Pastor's Kids) and being in the church.

Josh's story 9min - 37 min.

Question: What do you feel is missing for Non-Christians in The Church right now? 37min

The Early Church (Acts) vs The Western Church

Religion vs Following Jesus 48min

What kind of people are in your church? 53min

LGBTQ+ Community and the church 57min

Sanctification is a process 1hr 05min

Can the church be a safe space for people to be "in process"?

What should the church experience be like? 1hr 15min

Is "the church" missing the Go part of Matthew 28:19-20: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. (1hr 17min)

What can evangelism look like? 1hr 19min

SPRING IS HERE and WE ARE BACK for another season of the Restored Living Podcast. Today, in our episode, we talk about the process of cleaning up our proverbial "house" even the closets that hold all the junk. Not only do we talk about how to clean it all up, but the tools we need to develop to make sure our RESTORED home STAYS THAT WAY. Here's a little snapshot of what we discussed today..

Transitions of the seasons requires us to do a little cleaning.

Spring Break was always for spring cleaning when I was a kid, and we recently just did this with our boys room.

  • We didn’t get anything new, but instead got rid of old and worn out. We rearranged and repurposed, and suddenly it became a new creation.

How to spring clean your life.

  • Get honest
    • Address the clutter
    • Do we need to do deep cleaning or tidying up?
    • What areas of your life have been untended to (spiritual, physical, emotional, relational health)?
  • What do you need to let go of? (Relationships, habits, ways of thinking/speaking)
  • What do you need to put in place (Relationships, habits, ways of thinking/speaking, new rhythms)
  • Sometimes things just need a refresh/repurpose
    • It's the small things that help us make big changes and keep things from cluttering up again.

Thanks for joining us for the first episode of our Spring Season. We are so thankful for you guys as our Restored Family and we cannot wait to journey through the next year learning to let God shine through our cracks. It's Christmas week!!! That sentence either excited you, or it sent you into a nervous panic. Either way, we invite you to take time to slow down and listen in as we discuss not only the true meaning behind Christmas, but what it means for us today. We talk about the power of generosity, how it shows up in our lives, and share a very real and recent example of this that we recently experienced. Is generosity just about money, or is it bigger than that?

In this week's episode, we are excited to speak on a topic that is near and dear to our hearts : HEALTH. Having coached hundreds of people over the past 6+ years, we've learned some key things to help people move forward in this area of life. Now, this ain't your momma's latest trend on how to get skinny fast. All jokes aside, health is so much MORE than just a number or our bodies, it's all encompassing : Body, mind, and spirit. We talk about what the Bible has to say about honoring our bodies as a temple, how creating a healthy body can be a launching pad to other areas of health, and why it's important to have the right vehicle to create sustainable changes in your life. We pray that this episode blesses you in and equips you to take steps of creating health in your own life. Thank you for being here and joining in on this mission of restoration!
