Our special guest this week is Coach Lisa Petitte. Coach Petitte, has served as an educator in Chicago Public Schools as well as in Arkansas Public Schools as a teacher and coach. Along her coaching pathway, she's also coached collegiate basketball at division I & II levels as well as reaching the WNBA with her coaching and leadership talents. Coach Petitte's superpower is her ability to form relationships with her students and players that enable her to impact their hearts & lives as people as well as deliver the game of basketball to their minds. At the root of this ability is the skill of being intentional. As we seek to help you define what that looks like, take into consideration the awareness and sincerity you bring to every relationship you form with the people you lead. And keep it at the forefront of your thought processes that everything you do and say matters. The Tribe has also developed a collaborative course titled, The Captain's Course. The art of being intentional is an overarching fundamental to the course that will help you and your growing leaders create deeper connections, establish the needs of your people and how you can support that, and create a culture of servanthood. Have you established a culture of selflessness? If so then your leadership development is built upon being a "water-carrier" leader. But superficial acts aren't enough. Picking up what your people can't carry must be done not just in a literal sense, but also their emotional & psychological burdens. Lean in, listen in, focus in, and then reach in to help them. A "water-carrier" is ALL IN for their teammates.

In episode 3 CPT Thompson and I thoroughly discussed Commitment as a necessary component of being a Beast of A Leader. But even if a leader is committed to their organization can they deliver on the promise of growing and leading their people if they lack integrity? Does the lack of integrity in a leader result in the absence of respect? If respect isn't earned then why do people still listen to their leader and allow themselves to be influenced and affected? It could be because the culture is based on fear rather than respect. While a fear-based culture can get initial results, a strong leader, if truly committed, is playing the long game. In part 4 of episode 1 we're going to initiate the conversation on respect and how integrity is the keystone of respect.
