I had the pleasure of interviewing Dr. Stacy Messiner who is a psychologist who helps folks with ketamine-assisted therapy. I am fascinated by this way of helping people, and so excited to share it with you all today.

Dr Meissner is a Psychologist, mother, sister, daughter, and friend. She has cultivated an extraordinary world of close, deep, and meaningful connections with her clients. Her clinical training is extensive and has learned the most from helping patients navigate through the peaks and valleys of life.

She trained and incorporated Ketamine Assisted Therapy into her practice. She has found that combining CBT with Ketamine treatment has led to deeper insights, clearer understanding, and ultimately, newfound lightness.

Today's minisode with HPG - you will learn some tips on how to overcome negative self-talk. I have struggled with this for a long time, and life coach training has been really helpful. I have done a lot of my own thought work over this year.

Do you find your inner voice veering toward the negative?

Did you know the "average" person has a mind-boggling 12,000-60,000 thoughts daily. Around 70% of them lean towards the negative side. But wait, there's a twist - many of these thoughts are baseless and originate from external sources.

Our thoughts are like intricate threads woven into our neural pathways. Here's the fascinating part - no one can think quite like you or connect thoughts the way you do. However, these pathways can shape how we perceive ourselves and influence our actions.

We're in control and can reshape these pathways. Here are some tips covered in this episode.

Ask yourself - Is this thought helpful? Challenge unproductive thinking with a reality check.

Is this thought inspiring? Swap negativity for thoughts that align with your aspirations.

Is this thought necessary? Elevate your awareness by breaking free from repetitive loops.

Is this thought kind? Show yourself compassion and silence your inner critic.

Is this thought true? Is it absolutely true?

HPG and guest, Laken Litton, discuss ADHD and physical health, as part of 2 of an ADHD mini-series.

You will hear how Laken's ADHD diagnosis is connected to her medical condition, how she advocates for herself, and how you can do the same. I felt so seen while talking with Laken on this episode, and I learned a lot about a topic that is not discussed nearly as often as it needs to be. We sum up 2023 for me in a lot of ways on the show today. If you or someone you love has ADHD, you want to listen to this episode all the way through.

Laken's journey has equipped her with a deep well of empathy, making her a compassionate and understanding ally to those she coaches. She understands firsthand the challenges of managing time and projects without burnout or guilt, and her mission is to guide her clients toward sustainable productivity and self-compassion. Laken's coaching philosophy emphasizes personalized approaches, ensuring that each client receives tailored strategies that align with their unique strengths and challenges. Today, we're looking into the world of life coaching and uncovering the transformative impact it can have on your life.

We unravel the essence of a life coach and how they can help individuals discover their purpose and reach their full potential.

I define a life coach as a trained professional who assists individuals in living a fulfilling life by helping them find their purpose and navigate their journey with purpose and intention.

To better illustrate the difference between therapy and life coaching, let's consider the following scenario: Imagine you've had heart surgery. The cardiologist's role is akin to that of a therapist, as they address and heal past trauma or emotional wounds. Once you're on the path to recovery, you seek the guidance of a physical therapist, who represents the life coach. The physical therapist helps you set goals, strategize, and support you in reaching your full potential.

It's important to note that therapy and life coaching can complement each other, and some individuals may benefit from seeing both professionals concurrently.

Therapy primarily focuses on analyzing fears, healing past experiences and trauma, emotional well-being, mood management, and diagnosing and treating mental health conditions.

Life coaching emphasizes removing fear, celebrating achievements, focusing on the future, strategizing for action, and promoting personal growth and results.

While therapy is a regulated profession, with licensed practitioners adhering to specific ethical standards, life coaching is a self-regulated field.

This means that life coaches take responsibility for adhering to ethical guidelines and often pursue certification to enhance their skills and credibility. The emergence of life coaching as a recognized profession gained traction about 20 years ago and continues to evolve.

For me personally, my journey with life coaching began during my cancer battle, where I experienced its profound impact, becoming one of the most valuable resources during that challenging time. Inspired by this transformation, I felt a desire to help others in the same way. I enrolled in Martha Beck's Wayfinder Life Coach Training program, a decision that has proven to be an eye-opening experience of self-improvement, self-discovery, and personal growth.

With a background as a social worker spanning over two decades, I've always been inclined to help others. The integration of my social work skills with the tools and practices of life coaching has ignited a new passion within me to support individuals in a different way.

I am currently undergoing extensive training and practical work with clients and fellow trainees to refine my skills and gain practical experience. As a result, I am offering discounted rates for new clients, which allows me to practice the tools I've learned while offering affordable support to those seeking guidance on their personal journeys.

If you're interested in exploring the possibilities of life coaching and discovering how it can empower you to lead a more purposeful life, I invite you to connect with me on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/accordingtohpg. My offer to you is a free discovery call to explore the potential for a mutually beneficial coaching relationship.

As my journey toward certification progresses, I am loving the testimonials from those I've had the privilege of working with, witnessing the positive impact of life coaching on their lives.

Thank you for tuning in to this episode, and stay tuned for more inspiring discussions, practical tips, and empowering stories as we continue our quest to help you become the best version of yourself. Remember, it's never too late to start living your best life!

On todays minisode, HPG shares four simple tips to practice self-compassion.

Big thanks to Sam Synett, for re-introducing me to Self-Compassion and Dr. Kristen Neff's work!

Self-compassion, as defined by Dr. Kristen Neff: Self-compassion is simply the process of turning compassion inward. We are kind and understanding rather than harshly self-critical when we fail, make mistakes or feel inadequate. We give ourselves support and encouragement rather than being cold and judgmental when challenges and difficulty arise in our lives. Research indicates that self-compassion is one of the most powerful sources of coping and resilience we have available to us, radically improving our mental and physical wellbeing. It motivates us to make changes and reach our goals not because we’re inadequate, but because we care and want to be happy. This website offers information about self-compassion, as well as research, guided practices and a way to test your own self-compassion level. It’s a good place to start on your journey of leaning to be more self-compassionate.

For more on Self-compassion, visit Dr. Neff's site here: Self-Compassion

On today's episode, HPG and Alicia discuss Human Design. You will hear what human design is, who developed it and how to discover your type. You will learn how knowing your design can improve your inner knowledge and understand yourself, along with others in a different way.

Human design is a system.

It's a framework to understand yourself and your unique energy. Every single person is unique in their energetic blueprint and energetic makeup. Knowing this information can make life easier, because you learn how to navigate with your energy rather than go against it.

Alicia is an Empowerment Coach and Embodied Yoga Teacher. Today, we have a special guest joining us, Sam Synett, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Life Coach. Get ready to dive deep into the topic of confidence!

We tackle the big question: what exactly is confidence? Sam breaks it down for us, helping us understand the true essence of this elusive quality. We explore the idea of allowing ourselves to be seen, embracing vulnerability, and stepping into our authentic selves. Confidence is all about owning who we are and valuing our own opinions above those of others.

One thing we can't ignore in this digital age is the impact of social media on our confidence levels. Sam sheds light on how scrolling through picture-perfect posts and how the use of filters can affect our self-esteem and make us feel inadequate. We discuss the effects of comparison, which, is the thief of joy.

But here's the good news: confidence isn't a fixed state. It ebbs and flows, and that's okay. We explore the idea that confidence is a journey, and it's important to approach it with self-compassion. Sam shares valuable insights on how we can cultivate self-compassion and nurture our confidence along the way.

To wrap up the episode, Sam generously provides three crucial and simple tips to improve our confidence. These practical strategies can be easily incorporated into our daily lives, empowering us to boost our self-assurance and embrace the fullness of who we are.

So, if you're ready to dive into the world of confidence, join us for this insightful conversation with Sam Synett. Get ready to redefine what it means to be confident and discover the power of valuing yourself above all else. Let's dive in and take that confident leap together!

Sam shares what she is up to and how she is balancing meeting her own needs and providing the level of care her clients need. Check out her group, The Golden Hour, for more insight on how community with like-minded others can help your confidence.

Sam also shares how she is conducting trauma informed trainings to help ease the impact of the traumatic experience from the pandemic. Stay tuned for more on that topic!

For more information on self compassion, here is the link we discussed in the episode https://self-compassion.org/

There is something for everyone on this show, there is even humor! Life can suck, and you don't have to!

It is not easy to find life stories of a survivor who shares what really goes on behind the scenes.

This show takes learning to live and heal to the next level, no matter what we go through.

You learn about my life, and not just cancer, in the format of story telling. You will meet my occasional co host Martha in some episodes, and expert guests will be interviewed on a variety of topics such as creating a better life, how to grow into being a person you like, social issues, and much more.

I know for a fact truth is stranger than fiction, and we go there weekly with new episodes, every Tuesday EST.
