We continue our discussion of the ethics of Jesus from the last podcast. Hosts Doug and Robbie reflect on what Jesus was saying when the people who teach the law will be called great in heaven instead of those who relax it will be the least in heaven. They also discuss how there is a fine line in proper teaching and how they way that Jesus has laid out for us is better to teach these laws.
Towards the end of Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, in a brief pause, Jesus explains "Do not think that I have come to abolish Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them." -Matthew 5:17. But what does that even mean? Does this mean we have more laws with Jesus? Do we forget the Levitical Laws because Jesus died for us? Hear Hosts Robbie and Doug discuss these topics in more in part on of the Ethics of Jesus.
Building upon his phrase of "You are the salt of the earth", Jesus says "You are the light of this world". Hosts Doug and Robbie talk about the importance of not hiding this light, how hard it is sometimes to be and share the light, and how there can be a fine line when shining your light for yourself or Christ.
At the end of the Beatitudes, Jesus tells his Disciples " You are the salt of the Earth". But what does that even mean? How should we feel about this statement? Hosts Doug and Robbie dive into Salt, what Jesus is getting at here when he references Salt, how this statement ties into others he's given, and how we all can become saltier (in a good way).
As we jump back into the Beatitudes, Jesus says "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake". Hear hosts Robbie and Doug discuss what the differences is in being persecuted and persecuted for righteousness sake as well as give examples of those who are persecuted for the sake of their efforts to be right with God.

Last week we dove into the Beatitude of Blessed are the Peacemakers for they will be called children of god. Last week we learned about the peace you need to make with God, yourself and others and the Shalom that brings. This week Hosts Robbie and Doug dig deeper into Shalom and how today's world is mainly trying to disintegrate us from each other and family.
In the Beatitudes, Jesus says "Blessed are the Peacemakers, for they shall be called sons and daughters of God." Host's Robbie and Doug talk about and define peace, how to become a Peacemaker and why it's important to be one, and they share experiences and examples of Peacemakers.
In the Sermon on The Mount Jesus, in his Beatitudes, mentions that Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. At first when we think of this, it seems daunting to have a pure heart just to see God. We wonder do is our pure heart according to the Levitical Laws? If we are pure how will we actually see God? Hosts Doug and Robbie tackle those topics, share experiences, and how Jesus has given us simple directions to have a pure heart.
Mercy is something we want to experience. In his Sermon on the Mount Jesus says Blessed are the Merciful for they will receive Mercy. But what does that mean? Can you get mercy if you don't give mercy? Doesn't being merciful show that you are beneath others or imply indebtedness? Would being merciful undermine the pursuit of justice? Host Robbie and Doug tackle these topics and more in this weeks episode.
