What's up? My name is Tyler Jacoby and welcome to the Sports Adapted Podcast! Each week, I sit down with adaptive athletes to talk about the world of adaptive sports. Follow me on Instagram @sports_adapted for updates! You can also contact me at sportsadapted@gmail.com
Today I got a chance to talk to Lizzie Becker, a member of the Women's Wheelchair Basketball team at the University of Texas, Arlington, where she just finished up her fourth year. We discussed how she got started with the sport, some memories that she has from her ten years playing, as well as her major.
I had a great time catching up with another one of my sled hockey teammates, Brant Ireland (AKA BrantFoot), who was injured in Afghanistan and lost his left leg. We talked about the different sports he has played, both before and after his injury, and the impact sports have had on his life. We also talked a little bit about our teams most recent tournament win, and the one coming up.
Today I had a quick chat with Myranda Mishler, a sophomore at the University of Arizona and a member of the wheelchair track team, about how she got started in the sport, what she does when she's not racing, and what she wants to do after college!
Today I sat down with my buddy Sean, who is short statured, to talk about CrossFit, Sled Hockey, and his High School days playing baseball and Basketball. He also talked about the importance of nutrition in sports. If you or anyone you know wants to come out and try CrossFit or sled hockey in the Raleigh area, reach out to @hurricanessled on Instagram or Facebook, or hurricanessledhockey@gmail.com and go to RiverArmy.com.
