Welcome to the BASE podcast, a podcast dedicated to Building Approachable Surgical Experiences for medical students in the State of Kansas and Beyond. Here on the BASE, we offer an opportunity to get to know surgeons in various specialties and sub-specialties paired with board-relevant pimping sessions to help you prepare for your surgery rotation, subject exam, and Step 2 CK.
On this episode, we're joined by Dr. Richard Fantus, MD, an Assistant Professor of Urologic Surgery and Medical Student Clerkship Director at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Dr. Fantus tells us about his path to surgery and life as a urologist. He has a special interest in vasectomies, vasectomy reversals, inflatable penile prosthetic implantation surgery, and minimally invasive (and sexual preserving) BPH procedures. We end the episode with a case review of a high-yield urology case to prepare us for our subject exams & Step 2 CK.
