John 13-17 is called the upper room discourse. This covers one night of Jesus’ discourse. Jesus has these final words to give to his close followers. This is the night before his arrest, crucifixion and trial. Jesus is telling them that he is leaving. He is going away from them. After his ascension, the way that Jesus is going to be with his disciples is going to change. Jesus is going to be with them through the Holy Spirit.The Holy Spirit is God and the Holy Spirit is someone who comes alongside another person to help and to guide them.It is like someone helping an old person to cross the street.Jesus is saying there’s a new character (a character who as with me from eternity past, the Holy Spirit who was already there) is coming into the story. Jesus can be in one place in one time. He’s in the room with them twelve. They can all hear Him, but He, if the Jesus Movement is going to spread and if Jesus is going to become a personal reality and presence to every one of His followers, He has to go and He has to come and be with them in a different way than He has been up to this point.
In John 13-17, John records for us the final words of Jesus before his arrest and crucifixion. Jesus spoke to them that they will receive the Holy Spirit in John 14. The Spirit will be their teacher and will maintain His presence with them. But they have a job to do as well. Their job is to remain or abide in him.

In our daily lives, we always encounter challenges that prompt us to find solutions. Man wanted to move and he invented the wheel. Today, we are living in the age of AI, Google, ChatGPT, software etc; all these are invented to solve man’s problem. These are all good and we use it when we need it. Do you know that there are other problems in human life for which you need God to solve it? The mistake most of us do is that for problems that only God can solve, we go the natural way: We see a problem, we strategize a fix, and we tell God how to solve it. This is what we call getting ahead of God.Getting ahead of God often creates problems in our lives. For example: Abraham and Sarah got ahead of God. They saw the problem, they strategized a fix, and they got ahead of God. It creates more problems. Not waiting for God is a temptation for us, it was obviously a temptation for Israel too. Today, we are going to see the benefits of waiting on God’s timing versus the perils of impatience and our timing.
Shepherd is one of the figures of speech mentioned in the Bible to describe God. Both in the OT and the NT, God is the good shepherd. Jesus in his public ministry stated many times, “I am the good shepherd.” Jesus talks about his shepherding heart also talks about the thief or a robber, in other words, they are the wicked shepherds. Through this message, we are going to discern by God’s grace as to who is the wicked shepherds, so that our lives are protected and safe. We will also look at the condition of the sheep and the true nature of the good shepherd, Jesus.As we reflect on the profound truths revealed in John 10, we are reminded of the immense love and care of our Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ. He not only lays down his life for us but also leads us into abundant life. Let us heed his voice, follow him faithfully, and experience the fullness of life he offers.

This act of surrender and faith set Hannah apart as a woman of deep devotion and trust in the Lord. Through Hannah's story, we see the challenges and trials of the barren road she walked. The loneliness and hurt she experienced were profound, but they also led her to a place of greater dependence on God. Dealing with a lot of people, I believe very deeply that each and every one of us wants to be wise. People who are wise are able to look at life, extract meaning and when they share it leave a legacy. When I was small, we all used to go to the public library or school library just to get some books so that we can learn and become wise. With the age of information today,with so much of information available people hardly read and even if they read something, most often does not get the right literature. It again takes wisdom to discern what is right and wrong.

What was Paul’s prayer for the church? Paul prayed for the Spirit of wisdom and Revelation, illumination so that we may know the hope to which God has called us, know the riches of his glorious inheritance, and know the great power for us in Christ. This is a rich prayer. Our idea of prayer is to pray in the time of crisis. When we pray for someone, we pray that God bless them and let their circumstances change. When Paul prays for some situation, he prays, “Lord through this difficult circumstances give them the graceso that they may have wisdom, knowledge and understanding of who you are.”

Rejection! One of the ways the enemy uses to keep us in bondage is the spirit of rejection. We have all experienced rejection. It causes us to question ourselves and doubt our future. We all know rejection hurts. Rejection is very, very painful.
We are going to look at overcoming rejection according to the word of God. We are also going to see what the seed of rejection can do to us and end up praying for deliverance from the spirit of rejection.

This passage talks about the judgement on the religious establishment of Jesus’ day, the temple. He also talks about the end time, his coming again. Application What does Jesus want me to do in the midst of a difficult world? How do we live in the end times, in a world that is out of control?
We live in a world where popular culture, celebrities, and public speakers say that “If you chase your dreams, you will achieve them.” This message of “Chase your dreams and you will 100% get there” is a guarantee that you will be successful at whatever you strive for. What this does not mention is failure. The world culture does not talk about failure and the conditions that can sometimes apply. Growing up, I chased many dreams, but I failed in most of them. I never knew why I was not succeeding because I never knew how I could face failure. Failure is not Final is the sermon that gives people hope in the midst of failures.
The old English proverb says, well begun is half done. In the Christian life, the reality is totally different. Finishing well is more important and equally more difficult than beginning well. More than anything else how you finish matters. A good start doesn’t guarantee a good end. Apostle Paul’s farewell testimonial address to his young prodigy Timothy in his last letter from Paul’s pen so that we all come to terms with the glorious truth regarding how to finish well; like the Apostle Paul himself did.

And if the Lord shows something that is in line with disobedience to the word of God, return to him today. Today you can restart and hence redirect your future in the blessing of God. Faithfulness bears fruitfulness, here is a beautiful message from the book of Haggai. Reminding us to consider our ways and restart for good.
