Kannada Gothilla Podcast: Recent Episodes

Learning Kannada

Kannada Gothilla is a phrase heard often in Bangalore. It’s a go-to phrase to convey to someone you do not know the language. There are several reasons for this. One of the reasons is there isn’t a useful resource to learn Kannada. We hope to change that.

The Kannada Gothilla podcast will break down everyday scenarios where knowing a few Kannada words will help. Arvind, a native speaker, will be your teacher, and Aakash, who doesn’t know the language, will be the learner. Together we will break down scenarios, give you words to use, and hopefully, it’ll help you learn the language.

When should you add respect to your sentences and when shouldn't you? The simple answer is, whenever you're talking to Aakash, show some respect and when you're talking to Arvind, you can be casual, use insults even. But when talking to elders in Kannada, be very respectful. Listed to this episode to find out how.

Sharpen your pencil, get your exam pad, it's TEST TIME!! In this episode, Arvind tests Aakash's Kannada based on the episodes from the month of September. Let's see how many he gets right? (we're guessing, not a lot)

You can pause the episode and try answering the questions. That way, it's like you're taking the test as well. But remember, if Aakash tries to mooch answers off of you, don't help him LOL, he'll deffo try.

If you get a few wrong, don't worry. Come back and try again!

Remember, it's a process. And we're learning together.

They want to talk about India's fantastic performance, sports that surprised them, and what they expect from the next Olympics. Why don't you stop by for their conversation and pick up some Kannada? You'll learn to converse about sports you liked, performances you'll remember, and memories you'll cherish ALL IN KANNADA.

Kannada has some entertaining songs. But what's even more entertaining is the meaning behind them. And the advice it gives. This is err, one of those life-changing songs - Kathlalli Karadige. It's about a bear, a jamun and love. The holy love trinity, right?

To translate this song we have a special guest on the podcast - Nagasuhas.
