There are so many conflicting statements from all the Scholars from the East and the West about the time when Vedas were given, Manusmriti written, and events in Ramayana and Mahabharata happened. That's why we need to have a bird's eye view of everything and understand it from that perspective.
The period covered by Creation is called Brahmadina (God's day), while the period covered by Dissolution is called Braahmaratri (God's night): Brahmadina (God's day) is divided into 1,000 Chaturyugis, each of which is again divided into 4 Yugas or ages, these are:-
Sat Yuga or Golden age = 1,728,000 years.
Dwaapur Yuga or Silver age = 1,296,000 years
Treta Yuga or Bronze age = 864,000 years
Kaliyuga or Iron age = 432,000 years
The farthest time we can go to know the age of Mahabharata is by looking at the Aihole Inscription which is also known as Aihole Prashasti. Ramayana means Ram+Ayan (राम+अयन = राम का मार्ग)
Major difference between Mahabharata and Ramayana is Culture. As Karma was the soul of the Mahabharata, Dharma was the soul of Ramayana. Ramayana illustrates the unfeigned love from pure heart between brothers and victory of Good over Evil. And the whole base cause of Mahabharata is sibling rivalry and the war as the effect.
There are many mentions of time of Ramayana and birth of Shri Ram in treta yuga i.e., around 900k years back in Puranas, Buddhist and Jain literature as well but those are engrossed in Avtarvaad that is not Vedic from any angle. With the mentioning of Manusmriti in Ramayana it becomes evident that Manusmriti is older than Ramayana.
Western scholars have denied to acknowledge that Vedas are revealed by God and stress that it is manufactured by seers. The top manufacturer of those conjectures was none other than Max Mueller who arbitrarily put the age as 1200 to 1000 BC for Vedas. Also, Western philosophy, ideology, science, and thinking range near the Birth and Death of Jesus, and they being proved wrong by some other culture that is highly advanced than them is mostly unacceptable to them, and thats why they wanted to limit the whole Indian culture and history within 5000 years.
So, we have to take it with a pinch of salt and just not blindly jump in the bandwagon but do our own research and start understanding it with wider perspective as Vedas are not just line of texts but whole humanity has its base on that. The way to live your life is the prerogative of the person. How much he is able to understand the world. What is the main goal of his? Do we want to enjoy life to the fullest? Yes, indeed. Life is given to enjoy and be happy every second of your life. But we don't want to become a slave to this world and get involved in excessive desires and enjoy it.
You have two options - Enjoy all the things in the world, live an extravagant life, devour the best food, have a comfortable stay, watch Netflix, travel the world, and all. But this is only giving you the bodily and somewhat of satisfaction to the mind and the soul. But is it the goal of your life?
To Only give comfort to your body and no elevation of your mind and soul to the higher planes so that you are face to face with the ultimate reality of your existence and start wondering why you were stuck in the worldly desire and didn't start the mystical path long back!!
The main goal is subtler and far away which requires preparation, focus, desire, involvement, and a lot of other ingredients for the recipe of Salvation to work. When you start practicing slowly, initially it must be hard and challenging and you don't see any outcome in the first few days, months, or even years but gradually you must be able to see the difference.
Similar is what happens when you follow the Vedas.
Let's delve into the story of Religion. How it was different earlier and how it has changed now. There are a lot of solutions provided to understand God but fundamentally it is divided into three - The first one is Philosophical. Which uses the power of intellect to reason, enquire, question, and find solutions to the darkness and the ultimate truth and reality. Second one is the Religion itself which utilizes the aspect of your feelings, emotions, intellectual synthesis and channel it in the proper direction to find the solutions. Prayers, good conduct, righteousness, etc., form the components of religion. Third one is the Mystical which utilizes transcendental means. But the intellectual plane has a limit so do the initial steps of religion. There is no denying that the Vedas are the oldest scriptures. The art of worship prescribed in it clearly predates what Later stages of Hinduism has become, it predates Zoroastrianism which is considered at around 4000 years, it predates Buddhism which is around 2500 year old, Christianity which is 2000 year old and Islam which is pretty young at 1500 year and Sikhism which is around 500 year old. Is it even true that a Supreme Being - the God, exists? The knowledge of God is not a matter of just faith put in place but walking on the path of inquiry (Mimaansa). First, we have to understand why this thought of - Is there a God, occurs? Does God exist or not, is secondary. Why our intellect culminate the idea of God in the first place? It arises from the human's awakened consciousness which asks the question about himself and wonders about the Nature and the Universe around himself with the immutable laws and inexhaustible energies that are present. Does everything, which is working in perfect order, run without the impetus of some highly intelligent being? It can not be far from truth that everything is working by itself. It defies the logic of the law of nature. Also in this universe, we see that it is plenteous of Matter - which comprises of Earth, Fire, Air, Water, and Ether and this "Matter" is inert by itself. The matter doesn't act by itself. This is similar in nature to our body which is formed from the same Earth, Fire, Air, Water, and Ether. There is this force called Soul, Aatma etc., which makes the body function. Similarly for the whole universe which is in motion, and beyond the realm of human being's understanding, there is a force too which ought to be the cause of this effect and all the phenomena we see of the matter. As our knowledge advances, the whole equation becomes clearer that in this diversity we see unity. This diversity follows law. But due to the vastness of the Universe and we being infinitesimally small are left in awe due to the limitations of body, knowledge, and imagination we are forced to acknowledge the all-pervading existence of a supreme force which is handling the whole vastness. This change in the universe with respect to the evolution, prolongation and dissolution is surely by a cause, and that Cause of change and motion, that power, is known as the God. What is God? Different religions of the world have interpreted God in different fashion. It is true that One's knowledge of God is limited by his intellectual capacity, influence of the environment, his persistence and temperament as well. Just like material things are apprehended by our physical senses, the spiritual realm is apprehended by the power of the soul. The tools required to know the God are quite different from what scientific community demands which is by physical inspection. It is quite similar to the allegory of using Telescope and Microscope. If we start looking for the organisms using Telescope - we will never succeed. The correct instrument is required to get to what needs to be attained. Each religious savant has endeavored in his own terms to unbox the mystery revolving around the God by way of his own capacity in terms of intellect, knowledge, rationale etc., The Real Meaning of Life & Death - Explained Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6wsjMudnes #pritishkumar #godinvedas #god
A being is a living being only when it is contingent on Life and Death. What is the real meaning of Life and Death?
Life is intrinsically a condition of many things, particularly existence, use of energy, lively, exercising functional powers or have the capacity and/or ability to do so, development, fertility, an organism which is to say functioning of interdependent parts and a way to reproduce in the way of the perpetuation of the species, even metabolism is a part of it and this should come in between the span of Birth and Death. We have to draw a fine demarcation between other forms of life and what human life is.
Questions about human life. And the quest to know our own being is equally fascinating and perplexing enough. Excluding Human beings, all creatures show us that their life is all about eating, protecting themselves in some way or the other, taking needful rest, and reproducing. Similar is the vegetative life. They eat in their own way by way of roots and photosynthesis etc., protect themselves in some way too like with thorns, rest, and reproduce in their own way which seems to be clocked in them without them knowing it.
So, for other life forms it is simple living, and no to very less thinking. Unless this short span of life is like an evolution in the grand scheme of things for the life or the soul more specifically. This is what leads us to the doctrine of "transmigration of souls" which is well defined and well-classified in Vedic culture. We just have to widen our perspective about it. So, In this whole cycle of Birth and Death which encompasses Life we have to find the purpose and outlook of life.
The whole notion of Cows being sacred in India is directly related to religion, Humanity, culture, science, and a little bit of politics too.
But I exactly want to understand what is in logical religious text, the humanity and cultural aspect, the science involved in it, and is there any base in considering Cows sacred?
A single Indian cow produces around 5-10 liters of milk a day. And during the lactation period which lasts anywhere from 6 months to about a year and a half, the total produce of milk comes to around a minimum of 900 liters and a maximum of 5400 liters. These cows can give milk on an average for 10 years. so it is around an average of 5000*10 = 50000 liters of milk.
So with these calculations, we can understand that 5-10 liters of milk a day can be used by a family of four sufficiently. Or more precisely, One cow's milk can benefit 4 people for a meal in a day, 1350 people in one lactation season, or 13500 people in her whole lactation period in a lifetime. If the same cow is slaughtered, it can fill the stomach of only around 100 people for a single meal. So this becomes pretty obvious what is more beneficial for us.
Cow being alive serve a better purpose in human beings' life, even her dung is, dried dung cakes are so useful as cooking fuel and even as manure. And wouldn't it be paramount to most heinous crime as a minimum of 13500 people per cow are put on a disadvantage as they are not able to benefit from the milk of cow just to appease the stomach of 100 people?

Aurobindo Ghose left England for India after finishing up his studies there. As soon as he stepped in, he was able to see the misery and the way the people had been living in subjugation. He wanted to free this country.
His plan of action was threefold
Secret Revolutionary propaganda and organization
Public propaganda
Non-cooperation and resistance
Sri Aurobindo was the secret editor for Jugantar Patrika and Bande Mataram. Two decades of the increasing influence of journals such as Bande Mataram in Bengal led to strict government censorship under the Press Act of 1910. For the Alipore Bombing case, Sri Aurobindo was acquitted in 1909. But in the days spent in the jail, he extensively practiced yoga and got a new outlook on life and spirituality. By 1910, he left active politics and dedicated his life to a spiritual pursuit in Pondicherry where he set up an Ashram. Sri Aurobindo's name is etched in Indian history as the most successful revolutionary, visionary and spiritual master.
