I'm so sorry we missed last week. I went on a business trip and came back with a wicked case of COVID. So if you've had it - I now know what it's like. If you haven't, I hope you don't. It isn't fun. Thankfully, for me, it didn't last long. But everyone has a different experience. At any rate. We are back and happy to record another episode!
The 2 Old Farts breakdown the Tx State vs Arizona State football game. Plus other talk about college football. Plus an update on Uncle Bobby. He spent most of the week in the hospital. No real diagnosis but he's feeling better and at home today. Yay!
The 2 Old Farts sit down and sort of recap the 1st week of College Football. It's a special time of the year for us. We've been waiting a long, long, long time for this and its finally here. So please, sit back and indulge us. We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoy doing it.

They engage in a lighthearted conversation about the greatest military generals, sharing their opinions on notable figures in history.
Family came to town. Family left town. I was the family that left town and missed seeing part of my family. I also missed my very good friend Cliff who was here to see his son graduate Air Force Basic Training. All in all it was NOT a good week to be out of town. And that's also the reason why I missed last week's episode and was late with this week's episode. We are trying!
Happy early birthday to my dad. He is turning 80 years young this week.
Sorry about the crappy audio quality again this week.
We are back after my birthday and vacation hiatus. Then technology derailed us yesterday. Sit back and listen to us as we discuss how small market San Antonio will never get more professional sports teams.
We want to wish everyone in America a Happy 4th of July - or as they call it in England, Treason Day. J/K. Sorry this episode isn't that great - we really didn't have a lot to talk about and Uncle Bobby isn't quite ready for his next guest appearance. We hope you like it and if you didn't, please let us hear about it.
It was a good week. A busy week. And a busier weekend. In the midst of it all we got some good news about my Uncle. He's getting better. He's on the mend. He's out of ICU. But he still has some more healing to do.
Our very first guest, my uncle, is in the hospital. He had a serious event this past weekend and 911 was called. 2 Ambulances were dispatched. It was crazy! He's doing better now - but if you want the whole story then download the episode."
Happy belated Father's Day everyone! Today we have a VERY long episode with our VERY FIRST EVER Interview! Today we talk to my Uncle Bobby. He's had an interesting and extraordinary life. We hope you like it, so sit back, listen up and enjoy!

Sometimes you don't get what you want. But that's ok. Sometimes there is a reason. Sometimes there isn't. But we have to keep trying. Keep moving forward. Don't stop or stand still because you make a great target. There's a reason why sharks never stop moving. That's why The 2 Old Farts will keep on doing this little podcast. Thank you.
Another rambling episode of The 2 Old Farts. This week it's softball, soccer and heavy metal music. This past week I saw the NWOBH band Saxon w/ co-headliner Uriah Heep!
A teaser clip about one of my happy places - The Copa Wine Bar and their fabulous french fries!
Memorial Day is the day we honor the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Airwomen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen who did not return home. The holiday dates back to the months immediately following the Civil War when a few towns and cities began honoring their dead.
From The 2 Old Farts - to all the families remembering their lost loved ones — we honor you on Memorial Day and every day. You represent the best of America. Thank you for your service and devotion to our country.
The make-up episode from last week (Mother's Day). We are so sorry we missed last week but thank you for still listening and downloading the podcast.
It was a busy week and a good week. I found out I was accepted into the National Defense University graduate certificate program for Chief Data Officer. My son-in-law was accepted into the Nazarene Theological Seminary for his master's degree. My middle daughter is into beekeeping and her hive is really starting to thrive (get it?). My youngest daughter salvaged her Statistics course and pulled out a "B." And she finished her Jr year and rolls into her Sr year.
Just a lot of things happening. So, stay tuned and listen to the rest of the ramblings of The 2 Old Farts!

The 2 Old Farts had a good week. Stay tuned to listen all about it. From the San Antonio Brahma's game last weekend, to the Blackberry Smoke concert Friday night - we had a great time together. Being with family is so much fun. And being able to spend time with family is even more important. So if you still have your family, please enjoy them. Don't take them for granted. And thank you for your continued listening. Thank you for the downloads. We are so happy to have you sharing our love for this.
It's our 13th episode of the year and we couldn't be happier or more please with our progress. We owe our progress to you - the fans - or even accidental downloaders. Either way, we will keep it. Thank you.
Today's episode was a lot of fun for us to do. We had a tremendous amount of fun at the San Antonio Brahma's UFL football game last night. Vamos Brahma's! Great crowd. Great enthusiasm and great play! We will definitely be back.
We are going to more and more concerts. That's always fun. So sit back, and enjoy our random musings. Thank you!
Technology will be the death of us, I swear it will. Last week we had a terrible echo on the audio from my dad. It didn't have the echo when he spoke, only in the recording.
Now this week, we had no audio issues, unable to do anything on the dashboard of my recording site, to another echo from my dad. It was on and on. HOPEFULLY (and HOPE isn't a plan) - it will all work out this episode.
So stay tuned in, we hope you do.
We tried to get my Aunt Carolyn on the phone - but I don't seem to have the proper audio cable for my mixer to get her to be able to hear our audio. For sure, it seems like technology is always getting the better of The 2 Od Farts.
Fear not! We will find a way. In the meantime, sit back, grab something cold to drink (because it's getting warmer) and enjoy our ramblings. Our ramblings of funny stories from Basic Training.
PS
Sorry about the echo from my dad.
We hope you all had a fantastic Easter (Holy) week. It's a wonderful time of the year. And super important to Christians. If you don't believe, that's cool, we love you anyway - and thanks for listening, downloading and following!
Please hit LIKE and FOLLOW and SUBSCRIBE
Well, getting old sucks. That's for sure. As I said in the episode, when you're younger, life is all about Addition. When you get older, it's all about subtraction. And by GOD we are definitely losing it all. Our hair, our memory, or strength, our figure, our health, you name it. So if you are on the backside of 40, this is probably the podcast for you. Thank you for coming back. If you like us - please follow and subscribe. But more importantly, spread the word! Thanks!
The 2 Old Farts want you to remember those who are suffering. Fron the Texas Smokehouse Creek wildfires up in the panhandle to the Francis Scott Key bridge disaster in Baltimore. To those who are struggling in the tough economy. High rent and low pay. You name it. We are here for you and want you to know we care.
And if you are a veteran and you need care or help with a claim, reach out to us. We can help you get the help you need. Don't suffer in silence. We got your back!
I almost forgot today was Saint Patrick's Day today. So guess what my dad and I talked about today? You guessed it, St. Patrick's Day!
As usual my dad has a little history lesson. We also delve into our family history/DNA. Yes, we are actually Irish. And a few other places too. Good old fashioned, 100% pure bred mutt! We hope you like it and keep on coming back.
PS I have to translate my father's deep Southern phrases and mispronunciations.
Who doesn't hate daylight savings time? I know I do and so does the better looking of the 2 Old Farts. Frankly we hate it and think it should be abolished? What say you?
In today's episode we talk history, Viet Nam, warfare today, failure to learn from history, whiskey, bourbon, single malt whiskey and other various sundry topics.
We hope you enjoy!
Apologies for missing last week's episode. My father was a bit sick and I was coming off being sick. These things are harder to shake the older you get.
We had a lot to discuss since we didn't record an episode last week. Plus I have been to a lot of concerts these past few weeks with still more to come. Last night at the Pat Green concert, my wife meet the owner of Epic Western, an awesome cocktail in a can company. You should DEFINITELY give them a taste/try. Delicious!
Everything else, you will learn when you download and listen to this week's episode of The 2 Old Farts! Enjoy.
Some days you have something to talk about, some days you don't. Today seemed like one of those days. But (in our opinion) it went better than expected and a lot easier than expected.
What are your thoughts? Did we do ok? This podcast is still kind of searching for it's identity and direction. More than just the father/son aspect of it. Maybe we need to go deeper into the relationship. What do you think?
It IS Super Bowl 58 Sunday. Need I say more? It's a cornucopia, a buffet if you will, of Super Bowl facts and figures as ONLY my dad can deliver!
Growing up - do you ever remember you're parent's telling you "we'll see" after you asked them for something or to do something" I bet you that when they said it - it meant - NO. Am I wrong?
Good day to everyone. Happy Week Before Superbowl Week! We also have some great news: We are now live-streaming our episodes, as we record them, on Twitch.tv. That's an awesome opportunity to grow our audience and reach a different set of listeners.
Not much to discuss this week other than it's Super Bowl Week. My beloved 49ers against the KC Chiefs! Stay tuned and listen in as my dad and I talk, just a little bit, about my 2 pee-wee football teams that I played for.
We hope you like us, follow us and come back each week.
Well, the weather outside was more than frightful - it was downright cold the week before last. So listen up 2 Old Farts fans - because you will hear all about the shenanigans that happened last weekend at the Country and Western show!
We met a lot of great people on the porch at Floores Country Store. It was cold but we had heaters and bourbon to keep us warm. All except for my mom's butt. But - get it - you will have to listen to it all to hear all about it.
Again, we apologize for not being consistent with our podcast and we will endeavor to get better. Please be patient and please stick with us.
Happy New Year to everyone. Thank you for listening to The 2 Old Farts and thank you for listening to us in the New Year. It's been a wild new year for sure.
And in the realm of college football, we have a NEW Champion - the Michigan Wolverines! Congratulations. Well deserved. You put on an exhibition in defense against Alabama in the CFP playoffs!
And in the realm of Alabama - we lost "The GOAT!" Nick Saban has officially retired after 17 seasons. And in his stead is Kalen DeBoer from the University of Washington Huskies! Welcome aboard. So sit back and enjoy.
We ring in the New Year with our last episode of 2023. We are also on the eve of the College Football Playoffs.
We hope you had a wonderful Christmas or Hanukkah this year. We hope you have a happy and safe New Year's Eve tonight. We want to see you again in 2024.
Happy New Year and may it be a joyous, festive, fun and healthy New Year!
Take care - God Bless!
We are back. We apologize for being gone for the last couple of weeks. Work just gets to be an all consuming thing sometimes - and for that, I apologize.
We didn't really have a topic either. So, with no topic, that leads to a crappy title of a podcast. The only thing or word that came to mind was "musings" - which is a period of reflection or thought. And that is exactly what this episode is. Thank you for listening and downloading.
We really appreciate our fans and listeners. See you next week!
* PARDON THE COUGHING It's Allergy Season here! ***
There is a LOT going on in this episode. A little bit of this and a little bit of that but a whole LOT of The 2 Old Farts. We talk about our trip to Tuscaloosa. We talk about Family. We talk about Thanksgiving. We talk about pies. Rental cars. Being a klutz. BBQ. We have it all. So sit back enjoy the next 40ish minutes. We hope to see you again!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! My father and I are thankful for our family and for our fans who faithfully listen to us. All 10 of you LOL! Thank you!
We will try to record another episode this weekend and fill you all in on our exploits frpm our trip to Tuscaloosa last weekend. It was a trip for the ages! There were a few downs but they were so inconsequential to the awesomeness of Alabama football and it's wonderful fans! Everywhere we went we felt like we were with family.
We hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving and please be safe out there! Always remember to be thankful. If you try really hard you can find something to be thankful for. And if you can't - just remember The 2 Old Farts are thankful for YOU!
Good afternoon, good morning, good evening, and thank you for listening to The 2 Old Farts. We just hit 3,000 + downloads. Thank you - thank you - thank you. We are so happy and thankful for you faithful few who continue to listen to us ramble on.
Today we had a plan. HAD being the operative word. And we went so deep into Alabama football and what is going on with college football that it completely took over the conversation. And we think it was a great one. We even talked/debated the NIL.
We hope you like it. Please like, subscribe and share!

Here is a little #Teaser from episode 23. This clip talks about my father's time spent as an #AirForce #Skymarshall when we lived in #Queens #NYC
Good morning, afternoon and evening - depending on where you are in the world. We are back after a short 2 week break- and for that, we apologize. I don't know what or why we didn't record except to say - we are sorry. But we are back and happy to be back. Sorry we didn't have an agenda, let alone anything creative to call this episode. But we are very thankful and grateful for each and everyone one of you who downloaded our little podcast over the last month. As I mentioned at the end, we had downloads from: USA, Canada, UK, Switzerland, Zimbabwe, Sweden, and Viet Nam. That's very impressive. Thank you. Keep listening and please, spread the word. It was a great victory for the Alabama Crimson Tide vs the Tigers of LSU last night. The team looked very complete. We are looking forward to our trip in just under 2 weeks. Thank you again - please keep listening and we will keep recording!
A few weeks ago, it was my parent's 58th Wedding anniversary. I didn't forget to wish them a very Happy Anniversary, but I forgot to make this clip (and post it).
So - Happy Anniversary to my parents and congratulations for making it to # 58!
Hello friends and family. Good afternoon, morning, evening, or whatever time it is when you are listening to this. I was having a difficult time in trying to come up with a title for this week's episode. Suffice it to say, at last nights concert, I strolled by a mural of The Beastie Boys - so there you have it.
I was at The Paper Tiger to see Helmet! A late 80's/90's hard rock/grunge era band that is still kicking ass and taking names. Great show! But back to the title of the episode. Obviously if you listen you will get the gist of what I am musing about with the title - fighting for my VA rights in particular.
And you have to fight for your rights - whatever they are - in whatever circumstance. If it's important to you, you should fight for yourself, your family, health, whatever. It is important. Like I said in the episode - nobody loves you more than you and your family, so take care of yourself and fight!
Again - thank you for our loyal listeners. For that, we are eternally grateful. It means a lot to me and the other old fart that you take these few minutes to listen to us and our musings. We try to entertain - and sometimes we do and I am sure sometimes we don't. So thank you again for listening - especially to our Ontario, Canada fan!
Hello to all of our fans, friends and family. We are thankful for each and every one of you. It's just another peaceful, easy, Sunday today. And we were able to get another episode in the books. Not much has changed or happened since we last talked.
Ok - I take that back. I went to Hawaii for work. It was a nice trip with coworkers who are also friends. It was also nice to be able to visit the USS Arizona memorial and pay our respects. If you make it to Hawaii - that is an absolute bucket-list must see!
Again, we are so happy and thankful for you all. And to our Ontario, Canada listener, thank you. That is so awesome. But among this thankfulness comes a hint of sadness. The sadness in knowing that our beloved College Football is coming to an end. The season is half over.
Alabama is looking strong. Georgia does too, however, their schedule is mightly weak! Colorado - I see you! Coach Prime is doing an awesome job! Notre Dame, I see you too. Overrated as usual.
Well, I need to get this episode "in the can" and published on the socials because I have another concert to attend tonight - The Dropkick Murphys! See ya! The 2 Old Farts
What is the message this week? This episode didn't really have a theme. We didn't do anything that we could build an episode around. But like most things between us, it comes back to sports. And through sports, you go through highs and lows. Trials and tribulations. Success and failure. But through it all, if you believe in yourself and your teammates, you can succeed. I guess that's the biggest takeaway from this episode. And family. Family has been important to me and my success. Success. I think our little podcast is successful. We do have listeners downloading our episodes. It isn't a lot but we are grateful and thankful. Especially to our international audience We are so proud of that! Thank you.
Good afternoon everyone! Thank you for listening and continuing to listen. We hope you like, subscribe and share this whith your frineds and family. This is definitely a labor of love for my dad and me.
Sorry about not recording an episode last week. I know we are trying harder to be more consistent. Unfortunately I was just a bit busy and tired. My dad and I suffered through a horrendous home loss for the Crimson Tide. Congratulations to Texas! Hats off to them. They just out hustled us, our coached us and just plain beat us.
I always love it (my dad does too) when the grandkids come and get to participate in our shananigans. It really makes it fun. We hope you like it.
Thank you all for listening. Thank you to our international audience. I am always amazed at where our listeners are coming from. Canada. Austrailia. Indonesia. Guatamala. For our Canadian listener(s) in Ontario, thank you. For Australia, we had a download from Victoria - that's a 1st for us. Even Indonesia was a 1st! Wow. We are so blessed and blown away. Thank you.
Keep listening. Keep liking. Keep subscribing!
Chuck & Lou
Good afternoon and welcome to Episdoe 18 of The 2 Old Farts Podcast. Today we discuss Labor Day weekend and the struggles of streaming TV. And yes, it's a struggle. On Friday, Spectrum Cable in their discussions with Disney broke down - so now sports fans who have Spectrum are struggling to watch sports that are carried by ESPN! Because ESPN (through the app) is tied to your cable provider. Because of that, Spectrum Cable subscribers are in "the dark" when it comes to watching anything owned by Disney.
So that's a lot of our conversation today. But we did have fun last night. We went to The Roundup to see Pam Tillis. What a treat. The weather (for September) was very pleasant. The beers were cold. The venue is always great and the singer, she was fantastic! What more could we ask for? Well, to still have her father, Mel Tillis with us, would have been nice.
At any rate, we are going to endeavor to try and be more consistent with our episodes. You all deserve it. Thank you so much for listening. Please continue to listen and to share us with your friends and family. And if we could only get our wives to listen to our podcast LOL.
Thank you.

The big surprise is finally revealed! We are going to Tuscaloosa. T-Town. Title Town. The home of the University of Alabama! We are FINALLY going to be there for a home game. And it's about time.
We've been to a Bowl Game (Cotton Bowl). We've been to a road game (vs Texas A&M). We've been to the A-Day game (2021). We've even been to a Playoff Game (vs Michigan State). Now it's finally a home game. All things except the SEC Championship and a National Championship game. Maybe if we get some more money!
As you probably guessed - we are pretty stoked! We are staying at the Hotel Capstone on the UA campus. This is soooo convenient! It's going to be a great father/son road trip - without the actual road! This time we are actually flying! Thank you Southwest Airlines Frequent Flyer miles!
Welcome to Week 1 of College Football and Roll Tide!
Since I arrived back from Germany, I took a little time to unwind, and decompress. Then I became a slacker and didn't record an episode last week. But this weekend my dad and I made the trip (Finally!) to Shiner Texas and visited the World Famous Shiner Bock Brewery!
My dad has been pestering me for some time to take a trip out there - so I took him there for his birthday. He was so happy. My mom and wife even joined us! Everyone had a great time.
We hope you like what you hear. If you do - come on back and spread the word. If you don't, drop us a line and help us fix our goofy father/son podcast!
Take care!
PS - hello to my Swiss brothers! you know who you are.
Good morning and Good Afternoon, depending on where you are. Why? Because 1 half (the REALLY better looking of the 2 Old Farts) is away on business and in Germany! What a rare treat it is for me to be here in Germany for work.
I really cannot get enough of this beautiful country. I have been stationed in Germany twice throughout my Army career. The 1st time was from 1986 - 1990 and the last time was from 1992 - 1996. I did have a few pit stops in Germany when I was station in Italy from 2001 - 2004 and a few TDY's to Germany while I was stationed with US Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) at Fort Bragg, NC. Lucky me!
Well, I cannot get enough of the beer and schnitzel over here! The food is so awesome. The people are just the best and the people that I am working with couldn't be any cooler. I am honored to be working alongside some of the finest cyber professionals that Switzerland has to offer.
We hope you enjoy this episode - and I especially hope my Swiss cyber cohorts enjoy this episode and all the others. Take care and Bonjour! IYKYK.
Happy Birthday America! We are 247 years young! America - the great social experiment. You may not think it, or believe it, but our country was founded by not just great men, but forward thinking men. Men of vision. One of those men, was our 1st President - George Washington.
George Washington said this of America - "The establishment of our new Government seemed to be the last great experiment for promoting human happiness." What a statement. By the way, our Constitution is the only one in the world that guarantees our right to the pursuit of happiness.
America and all that it stands for is something that we (the 2 Old Farts) are very proud of. We served this country, in times of peace and in war. We love it - warts and all. There are things that that our founding father's and their ancestors did that we aren't proud of - but we've learned and grown from it.
So take some time to celebrate our Republic! And if you be from somewhere else in the world - thank you for listening and downloading our podcast. We thank you. Especially to Canada! You have been very good to us with your frequent downloads. We are truly an international podcast!
Ok - welcome back people. Today our episode is about an age-old question.... Do you fold your toilet paper? Or do you wad your toilet paper? This topic came up last week at our father's day gathering at the old folks house.
It seems that the women in the family wad their TP. Whereas the men fold it. What do you do? Do you care? Does it matter? We think it does. And we want to hear from you.
Plus we talk about the Tanya Tucker concert last night at John T. Floores Country Store. What a show! We also talk about the Venom, Inc concert I went to Friday night. What an awesome band and a great bunch of dudes! Ok - sit back and enjoy!
PS
We want to hear from you!
The 2 Old Farts want to wish you all a very Happy Father's Day. We recorded it on Father's Day (18 June) but are posting it today on Juneteenth! So Happy Juneteenth everybody! I hope everyone had a wonderful and fantastic father's day yesterday. I know my father and I did. We were able to spend it with each other and our families. We grilled some burgers and sausage, along with jalapeno poppers. My dad made his famous baked beans. We had potato salad, strawberry shortcake, fuit and veggies and chips and dip. It a feast for sure! Oh and don't forget the ice cold beer and Texas sweet tea! We are very grateful for your participation and we hope to hear from you. Please tell us what you like - what you dislike and what you want us to try next. We hope you keep listening because we do enjoy doing what we do.
The 2 Old Farts are back after a 2 week hiatus. Last week was my anniversary so we were on vacation. Which fed into Memorial Day. Memorial Day can be kind of a sad time remembering those whom we have lost. Personally, I lost 2 friends: Major Ed Murphy and CW2 Scott Coulter. I worked for Major Murphy while we were stationed in Italy. When I left Italy, he stayed behind and his unit deployed to Afghanistan. I returned to the US where my unit deployed to Iraq. Major Murphy died in a helicopter crash in 2005.
I knew CW2 Scott Coulter from my time at Fort Hood. I left Fort Hood to go to Italy. CW2 Coulter deployed from Fort Hood to Iraq in OIF 1. He was killed by a roadside IED in the fall of 2003. He died where I would be stationed just 14 months later.
As you will hear, my father, mother and wife and I went to see the Bellamy Brothers last night at The Roundup. It was a great time. My mom enjoys her bourbons! Oh and she loved my candle that I got her for Mother's Day.
Oh - and Canada. We've been having quite a few downloads from Canada. So far this month - we've only had 1 download it came from Canada so congratulations! We are so happy to have you listening to us.
Thank you!
We are back and trying to stay on schedule. We are still having some technical difficulties here and there but we are still here. We are still here and trying to stay on schedule and trying to grow our audience.
We aren't going anywhere. We may have been gone for awhile but we are back. Still here. Still going strong. And we are going to try like heck to stay on schedule!
We want to hear from you!

What do spider webs, emphysema and Alabama football have in common - absolutely nothing unless I'm involved in it. Yes, I had a CT scan and it looks like I have a few nodules in 1 of my lungs and the Radiologist saw the beginnings of Emphysema. It was a pretty scary diagnosis - but I roll with the punches! So if you are smoking -- STOP.
If you are running along a path and there are bushes on either side of the path - LOOK OUT FOR SPIDERS and SPIDER WEBS! If you run into a web - you could trip and fall (like me) and skin your knee.
We apologize for taking so long to record another episode - but we don't apolgize for talking and loving Alabama football. Time and "things" take us away from doing this - but we still love doing the podcast and we hope you do too!
We love our international audience. We are so proud and honored to have you listening to us. We really do want to hear from you! email the2oldfarts@outlook.com Email us - talk to us about what we American's call Soccer but the entire world calls Football.
Happy Easter everyone! Ok - it's technically Easter Monday, BUT, we did record this episode yesterday. My apologies for taking an extra week to get to this. I was still getting over my sickness and my dad still had his hand issue. Well, he still has the pain in his hand, post surgery but it's getting better.
So, I think it's official that my dad is becoming more like a child. He doesn't listen to me or his doctor(s). The Dentist gave him a fake tooth to wear so that it would shape his gum line to make receiving his implant easier and more comfortable. Did he wear that stupid fake tooth? Heck no! When we go out to eat somewhere, I always send him the link to the website and their menu so he can check it out ahead of time. Does he? Heck no! Same with ordering beer.
Me - "Hey dad, what type of beer would you like?"
Dad - "Yuengling or Shiner."
Me - "No dad. Those are brands, not types." "Types are Lagers, IPA's, Stouts, Wheats, etc."
Dad - "Ok, order me whatever you think I will like"
It even happens when I ask him to navigate somewhere. I send him the maps, directions, send him links for parking. Does he read it before hand? Heck no! I think you get the point. He can be frustrating - as I am sure I am frustrating to him - but I still love him! Hopefully he still loves me.
Yes, it takes all three of those to help me get better. It's been a rough week being sick. From getting a fever, to it breaking, to coughing all night, to keeping my wife awake through it all - it's been a heck of a week. I managed to stumble through it until Friday - by then I had had enough! I went to Urgent Care - and after the steroid injection, the pink cough syrup and antibiotics, I am starting to feel human again! I hope to be 100% this Friday for Randall King at John T. Floore Country Store. I hope to see you there!
PS Check out the cool matching Podcast t-shirts! Thanks KK!
This year during Spring Break we had some extra special guests! They were my grandkids - and my dad's greatgrandkids! They came down for Spring Break. We were so happy to see them this year. We didn't get to see them over the holidays last year. But here they are! We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
It's been 1 month exactly since our last episode and for that we are sorry. There's been a lot going on. We lost a good friend and DAV Chapter 14 member - Stan. He was our Sergeant at Arms. There was his funeral. There have been concerts (Gene Watson), getting rained on after the concert - a dinner at Krause's in New Braunfels, my neice's birthday, my youngest daughter's birthday and a host of other things. It seems that time gets away from us sometimes. My dad had hand surgery. It's been a slow process of healing. And when you get older it takes longer and it can be a little more painful. I'm trying to be more mindful of that when we go out. I've been to some concerts and Brenda and I have gone to a concert. Life seems to just get away from us.
So sit back, listen and enjoy.
Another clip/snippet from Season 2 Episode 4. This clip is where I begin talking about the time I was sent to be part of a Joint Task Force on board a US Navy ship.
A snippet from S2 E4 - where I ask my dad about going back to Viet Nam in 1975 for Operation Babylift.
Hello - it's The 2 Old Farts again. We were able to manage to get together and record another episode and without technological difficulties. Imagine that - I go over to his house and everything works. Except when it doesn't lol.
So, no shit - there I was. That's how any great military story goes. And this time, we finally share some of those stories with you. It's a journey. We are still trying to find our way and our voice in this vast Podcast wilderness. We do want you here with us on this journey.
We want to hear from you. We want to keep sharing our stories with you. Take care and keep listening!
The 2 Old Farts discuss the week that was. It was a week of ups and downs for sure. From my wife getting COVID, to the ice storm, to power outages, to my dad's flipper/floating tooth breaking. Oh, and as usual, we had some more technological "issues" before we started the podcast PLUS in the midst of recording the podcast, I lost video during recording. I tell ya - it's ALWAYS something with The 2 Old Farts when it comes to recording the podcast! But we persevere!
Howdy! Welcome to our 2nd episode of the year. It was an easy episode to do but different. I can't put my finger on it. Tell us what you think. Was it sad? Was it melancholy? Was it wistful? I can't put my finger on it. It has definitely left me feeling something.
Maybe it's our old DAV Sergeant At Arms who is in hospice. Maybe I am remembering my father in law (whom we lost in June of 2022). Or even another member of our DAV chapter this year. Or was it hearing my dad talk about when I was born and he was in Viet Nam, walking the flight line and perimiter with his K9? Then he sprung some old pictures on me. It was a raw episode for sure.

Happy New Year again everybody! Welcome to our 1st episode of 2023. It's started off as a rocky year for us. We thought we had our technical problems solved, but they came back with a vengence. Lucky for us, my dad was able to have Best Buy look at it - and pronounce it A-Ok.
That's right, they said there was nothing wrong with his laptop. Go figure. Oh well. We aren't stopping. Just like we hope you don't stop listening! If you like us - tell us. If you don't like us - tell us that too. We want to hear from you. We really do. We want feedback. We want to make it better.
There were other issues that my family has been dealing with - but you will have to listen to the episode.
Welcome to 2023 and our 1st episode this year. 1 year down!
Welcome to 2023!
Happy New Year! The 2 Old Farts are closing out 2022 with their last episode of the year. Its been a great year. A year of firsts - first podcast episode, first technological challenge, the first episode where my dad calls himself the better looking of the 2 old farts.
In many ways it's been a fun year and a sad year. Fun for all the usual reasons, hanging out with my dad, doing things, going to concerts, having a beer, getting our pies for Thanksgiving, family gatherings, etc... And sad because we lost my father in law this year. It's alway sad when you lose someone close to you. Maybe that's why I am so thankful to be able to do this with my dad - no matter how many people listen. It's fun for us. But also a sad reminder that nothing or no one lasts forever.
BIG SHOUTOUT to our new friend and favorite podcast - @theoldmanspodc1 (www.theoldmanspodcast.com) check him out!
We hope you have a HAPPY and SAFE new year. We also hope it is filled with love, health, wealth and posperity in whatever shape or manner that comes. Be kind to one another. Love one another. And please share this podcast with your friends!
PS - do you believe in New Year - New Me? Tell us on the socials! @the_2_old_farts or on our page www.the2oldfarts.com
Ok fans - we were "successful" today in doing a remote recording session. However, we weren't not 100% in our efforts to make it perfect. For some reason, in post production, my dad had a terrible echo on his end. And from the outset, he STILL had trouble hearing me. That may be a problem he will have forever. Who knows.
One thing we did talk about is him getting some better podcasting equipment. Like a Yamaha mixing console and an XLR microphone. That might help on his end.
On another note - a fellow podcaster I met via Twitter - @theoldmanspodc1 (The Old Man's Podcast) via www.theoldmanspodcast.com "liked" us on twitter, gave us some kudos and is following us via @podbean. So that's cool! If we have any luck - we may try to call into his show this Friday. Fingers crossed!
It is a short episode, only to see if we were able to make his computer/connection work from home. So far - so fair. There is always room for improvement. Take care!
The 2 Old Farts Podcast wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas! We apologize for our continued technical difficulties. We know this can be very aggrevating when it comes to looking forward to our next podcast and it's delayed.
We really enjoyed this episode. It was a lot of fun to record. And after our last attempt/fiasco, I realize I need to work on my patience. It can be difficult to do this while we are geographically separated. My father isn't getting younger and his technical skills are fading. So my patience needs to increase.
We are very thankful for each and every person who listens/downloads our podcast. We want to hear from you! We need your recommendations because we want to get better. the2oldfarts@outlook.com
Our reaction - LIVE - as we check our download stats. I mean it's a HUGE increase. It's massive! WE could really use your help to pump our download stats!
Check us out!
My mom can't remember what cocktail she ordered the last time we were at Floore's Country Store. I'm sure you can imagine the hilarity that ensues.
Enjoy!
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! We are very thankful for you and even more thankful to be able to do what we do - even if it's just a few of you who listen. We are THANKFUL! We hope you are thankful too. It doesn't take much to be thankful. What does it mean to you to be thankful? For us - it's family and the freedom to do what we do.
Today I drank Buffalo Trace Bourbon and deep-fried a turkey. What did you do? I tell you what - it's a lot of work to prepare for thanksgiving! We want to hear from you - the2oldfarts@outlook.com
The 2 Old Farts - were out again - this time for our Annual trip to the Blue Bonnet Cafe to get our Thanksgiving pies! Afterwards, we stopped by the awesome Bear King Brewery. We tried their delicious Birria Tacos and washed it down with a Mexican Lager and a Hefe Weizen. Mmm good!
We even managed to find out we had 1.9K downloads in 1 week. WTH?? Where did all that come from? Was it a mistake? Are we catching on? Tell us - we want to hear from you the2oldfarts@outlook.com
Hello and thank you for listening to The 2 Old Farts Podcast! We have a new logo and a new format. Unfortunatley we are the same 2 Old Farts. We are experimenting with different subject matter to explore and share with you.
We do want to hear from you. Please email us at the2oldfarts@outlook.com or @the_2_old_farts (twitter & instagram)
Tell us what you like - tell us what you don't like - tell us what you want us to share - Tell us anything you want.
Well, we finally did it! We were FINALLY able to successfully record an episode today. Boy, it's been a busy 6 weeks since we last recorded an episode. And we haven't quite had the success and reach that we thought we would by this point. And in fairness we aren't the most consistent podcasters and we darn sure aren't the savviest either! What do you think about us possibly changing our style & content of the podcast? We are thinking - based upon some feedback from my better half - that maybe we should be more about ourselves and our stories. I mean who wants to hear about our occassional forays about the usual places we go? So maybe we should talk about being fathers, sons, grandfathers, soldier, airmen, etc. Stuff that we really know and more to who we are. What are your thoughts? Hit us up on the socials

It's Labor Day weekend and my granddaughters are visiting - and they wanted to sit in on our podcast - what could go wrong? With The 2 Old Farts? Actually nothing went wrong. Since our last episode we went to see Jason Boland & The Stragglers at Floores. A week later, my wife and I were lucky enough to score 2 VIP table seats to see Robert Earl Keen at Floores! Thank you Kevin Gonzales! The Sunday after the Jason Boland concert - my dad and I tried to record another epised and of course "technology" had to rear its ugly head. It's like we are cursed! And with so few downloads we might actually be!
We hope you enjoy our episode and our our little podcast! If you like it, please help spread the word. Tell your family and friends!
Chuck & Lou
With brunch and beer, what could go wrong? With The 2 Old Farts? Just about anything can happen and usually does happen. I went to pick up my dad so we could go to the Longtab Brewery today so we can have a beer, brunch and prepare for todays Podcast. Well, since I wasn't specific about a when or where - I showed up at his house while he was enroute to Longtab. So you can guess how it went from there. And of course "technology" had to rear its ugly head today as well. So lots of big problems today. We hope you enjoy our episode and our our little podcast!

Last night The 2 Old Farts - while they were Out And About took their wives to dinner and a show. While at dinner, we had an unexpected visitor. For some reason, I never saw, but my wife, my mom and my dad all saw it! Me, the one who is always getting on to them about NOT being observant in regards to their surroundings. Ha. It looks like I need to take my own advice. So, sit back and enjoy our podcast. We ARE The 2 Old Farts - Out And About!
Well, it's The 2 Old Farts - Out And About. Again. Having technology issues. Again. Went to another concert. Again. Went to Gruene Hall. Again. But that's what we do! We go out and have a good time. Even if it's in the horrendously hot Texas heat & humidity. Even if it is massive technology issues. Even if it's the day before my dad's colonoscopy. That's what we do! We keep trying - if we don't end up killing each other! We hope you enjoy this segment of our low budget podcast. Please reach out and let us know if you like our show. Thank you!
Happy Birthday America! This is the 2 Old Farts - Out And About - finally back after our hiatus. What have you been up to while we were away? We were figuring out how to get another episode recorded. Well, that's what happens when you let 2 Old Farts try and run a podcast! Listen up and hear our shenanigans from The 2 Old Farts - Out And About Podcast!
We are LIVE and Out And About at John T Floores Country Store to see John Michael Montgomery! Oh and our wives are with us! Please share and spread the word.
Mom - Dad screwed up our Podcast - again! Yes. It happened. Again. This is what happens when you have 2 Old Farts - attempting to use technology to record AND upload a podcast - without screwing up or killing each other. 1 needs help and the other is incapable of assisting from afar. That's why I had to go over to his house during lunch to help him unmute his microphone - ONLY to have him do it again - a mere 3 seconds before launch! So I pulled out the BIG GUNS and called my mom!
The 2 Old Farts - Out And About Podcast - Episode 6: Sunday Bloody Mary Brunch shenanigans!
This is our 5th episode. Recorded Easter Sunday with special guests: Mackenzie and Jordan! Spread the word and spread the love!
