Hello and welcome to my podcast.
A year ago I did some interviews on Facebook and after some requests I decided to come back and do it again as a podcast.
I will be speaking to a few people from last year and new people with a mix of different interests, talents and advice.
There have been many tragedies in Cavan over the last year so I’d like to promote people, services and charities that can help with mental health.
Lockdown is over and I would like to talk about what groups and activities are available for all ages in the community.

Joey Burns from Irish Wood Sculpture chats to me about being a creative engineer. He describes lockdown for people in the Arts, creativity through daily life, recording music from home and being a creativity tutor for adults with Autism. The album he created with other Musicians to promote mental health awareness will be available in the coming months.

Bláithín tells me about The EcoShack which is a zero waste store on Main St. Cavan town. She owns it along with her sister Meave as a way of leading and promoting a zero waste lifestyle. My cousin Mark Lawor tells me about his poetry, paintings and The Moth Studios which is a Cavan based Artist group. He reads two of his poems, one of which is dedicated to Artist Pauline Halton RIP who’s first year anniversary is this weekend.

Caroline Heffernan has Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and is a CF Ireland Advocate. She talks to me about having CF, the services provided by CF Ireland and the fundraising efforts throughout the year especially on Friday April 8th 2022.

Sarah Buckley is an Individual Giving & Volunteer Support Officer at Autism Assistance Dogs Ireland, a charity in County Cork. She tells me about their services to help children with Autism, puppy fostering and sponsoring, funding and ’1,5000 squats in March Challenge’.

Happy International Women’s Day. For this special day I spoke with Karen Cassidy, a Professional Ceremonial Celebrant, an Irish local artist, Shamanic Practitioner and Sacred Celebrant.
Karen speaks about her time in Thailand, learning Muai Thai Boxing, Reiki, crystal healing and Shamanism etc. She also speaks about her year there in a women’s shelter with her young son after escaping her abusive husband. She is the first woman in Thailand to prosecute a husband and win custody.
Karen is now based in Derry teaching different modalities and giving treatments. She hosts Women’s Circles and Moon Ceremonies. She is a celebrant for marriage, baby and death ceremonies.

Fiona tells me about the Darkness into Light walk taking place at 4am on May 7th 2022. The purpose of the walk is to raise funds for Pieta House Suicide and Self Harm Crisis Centre and to remember lost loved ones. Bernie tells me about bee keeping, honey making, honesty box, her beeswax christening candle and her workshop open day on March 5th 1-4pm.
Irish Red Cross Secretary-General Liam O’ Dwyer chats with me about their ongoing effort to provide humanitarian aid to people within Ukraine as well as those who have been displaced to neighbouring countries. He highlights the many other functions of Irish Red Cross and the important role of volunteers.
