Coach James
Five time state championship coach and former Oregon Coach of the Year James Underwood shares his thoughts on everything cheer. A former collegiate cheerleader, James adds a unique perspective, as he knows not only what it takes to run a successful high school program but also knows how to prepare athletes interested in cheering at the next level.
In Part I of this edition of the Cheercast, Coach James talks about how cheer has evolved over the past decade and discusses some important rule changes for the 2019-2020 season. Included in this discussion are the new rules regarding Rec programs carrying proof of insurance, as well as, the new building score guidelines that impact basket tosses. Coach James finishes with some emails about Freshmen on Varsity and which program he thinks will have a breakout 2019-2020 season.
