Religious order abuse is a problem in the Catholic Church that is too often not exposed for fear of reprisal, cover-up, or a false sense of "scandalizing" the Church. Ignoring the problem does not make it go away. Some Catholics who left everything to follow God are suffering under the thumb of superiors who have used their role to manipulate, torment, and abuse those they are called to serve as Christ served. If you are a former member of a religious community and you are looking for resources, or would like to get your story out, please contact Alycia at conventreform@wordpress.org. Nunsploitation films are a genre of film made popular in the 60's and 70's. One recent film of this genre shows how hideous these films can be. Join me as I ponder how much of these films, if any, are based on real life. We will also look at another film out in theatres about a real life nun, Mother Francis Cabrini. What is the difference between such a film as this and the films that exploit the evil that happens in some convents?

Vocational talks in the church often equate to A+B=C, that is you have a vocation (A), plus you are open to that vocation (B), then you are fulfilled with that vocation (C). Those of you who have followed me, or have experienced religious order abuse yourself, will know that the A+B=C sales pitch is too often a lie.
