So who is Rick Blankemeier and why is he so afraid of Godzilla? Well I can't give you an answer to the second part, but for the first half Rick is half of Team Spröcket. Rick and his partner Robbie Chandle both work for Stone Brewing Co and are the winners of the Stone Spotlight Series. A competition that pitted teams of Stone Brewing Co employees in a brewing competition where the prize was national distribution of the winning beer to the 41 states Stone Brewing Company currently delivers their beer.
Team Spröcket won the competition with their Spröcketbier, which is a black rye Kölsch. You will find this beer at a bottle shop near you starting April 21st.
The 54th episode of The Ohio Beercast has Darrell roping Chris of Queen City Fresh into joining him at the mic for the usual beer roundup episode. 8 Days of beer and fun starts on February 6th at the annual Cincinnati Beer Week. Ron and Darrell tracked down Lindsey, the President of Cincinnati Beer Week, to get the latest scoop & information on those 8 jam packed days. With over 160 events it can be over whelming, but we took the opportunity to ask the head cheese to give our listeners a path for surviving Cincinnati Beer Week. Well sort of.

Toledo is getting a new brewery in 2014 and that Brewery will be Black Cloister Brewing Co. Black Cloister Brewing is headed up by Tom Schaeffer with a great team helping out. Springing out of Tom's work as a minister at his Lutheran church. Pulling from that history the team at Black Cloister Brewing Co. have found their passion in beer.

We pulled Emily, the head brewer at Portsmouth Brewing Co., away from the fermenters for an interview to learn more about Portsmouth. The Portsmouth Brewing Co. is the oldest brewery in Ohio having it's founding in 1843. The brewery was resurrected in 1997 by the Mault brothers.

Starting in 1991 as a Homebrew supply store, they expanded to commercial brewing 5 years ago cultivating not one but two beer brands.
Episode 26 of the Ohio Beercast marks the beginning of the Fantasy Ohio Beer League season. Mark and Darrell run down the 32 beers that were nominated by the masses, broken down into 4 divisions. Josh utilizes his 13 years of writing about beer to craft this book to give people the tools to better understanding beer and in this interview we talk about his book, Josh's first craft beer memory and problems with penguins.
