In this week's episode, I donned my project management hat and delved into a common dilemma faced by many businesses: their reluctance or challenges in embracing Neurodiversity inclusion and reaping its benefits.
One critical aspect of this issue is the absence of a robust business case. Often, businesses fail to analyze the comprehensive scope of the matter, how it aligns with their overarching goals, or to meticulously assess costs and potential benefits.
In essence, the lack of a solid business case raises doubts about the validity of arguments against Neurodiversity inclusion.

Part 1
Navigating our way through the job market can be challenging and even ominous to deal with. In, some cases candidates can be placed easily and in other cases, candidates have gone through one rejection after another with no hope in sight.
This can very well be the case for Neurodivergent talent, despite their education or experience. To talk about the current job market and to give some helpful insight, I am joined by Fran Moisa.
In Parts 1 and 2 of this interview, Fran and I look into and examine the recruitment process and how it can become more inclusive of Neurodivergent talent.

How do we communicate well if we lack confidence and practice in speech?
Speech is a skill; because it comes so naturally to us, we don't realise it is a skill. Learning the skills to speak builds confidence and teaches us how to give understanding and be understood.
To assist in teaching us the skills and the manner in how to practice, I am joined by a communications specialist and public speaker coach, Brenden Kumarasamay. Brenden share us with 3 key skills and his experience to support the Neurodiversity community to become more effective communicators and public speakers.

Are you fit for purpose? One of the challenges that interfere with reaching our goals, particularly regarding our fitness targets is that we are not in the right frame of mind, to begin with.
Ashley Bishop discovered in his own journey and with his clients that we face this mental block that puts barriers, so he created a program, on the foundations of Neuroscience, that deals with removing these obstacles before we set our minds towards executing our goals.

We all face the challenge of procrastinating where we let clutter pile up beyond our control. This is especially true with our fellow Neurodiverse, ADHD professionals. This interferes with our work, business and lives and yet we fail to get organized and get clean.
There is a very good reason for this and this is because we need to first declutter our brains. There is a mental block that is preventing us from confronting this physical clutter.
In this episode, I am joined by Kitti Andrews who helps professionals declutter both our minds and physical barriers so they can be more productive in life and business.

We all heard the saying, “Work on your business and not in your business” The problem is many business owners are in their business they don’t know how to work on it, find the resources and tools that would give them the freedom they want.
As Neurodiverse entrepreneurs, we are either over-focused, have difficulty transitioning or we just want to focus on our strengths that we can unintentionally distract ourselves from what we need to do.
Sometimes we need to nudge in the right direction. A person who can provide an outsider’s perspective, look at the big picture and identify the gaps that can free us.
I am pleased to introduce you to business coach David Cassesus, who has a unique strategy that will provide you with the map you need.

One of the challenges the Neurominority faces is the management of their finance. This can be due to their Neurodiversity and the difficulties with either their trial and tribulations as an employee or an entrepreneur.
It is because of this I am pleased to have introduced Zac Juergensen.
Zac Juergensen is personal finance, real estate, and responsible debt educator. He currently hosts a podcast called DIY Wealth focused on providing free content to share in his self-learned wealth accumulation journey allowing others to learn and take action on their own money management and financial goals.
Zac Juergensen went from being in a fair amount of bad debt with poor money management and financial behaviour patterns in his early 20’s to amassing a net worth of one million dollars by 31 through self-education

A question that comes up from business and their hr or manager executives is how do we apply Neurodiversity strategies where we can measure adequate outcomes that are a win-win for both us and the employee?
This is a fair and justifiable question and my answer to this is to be “Be People-Centric” where the employee is the priority with the support and accommodations needed.
The Be People-Centric approach can be applied from two pre-existing systems, which of course requires some understanding and adjustments. Let’s examine these two systems and see how we can apply them in the workplace to neurodiverse employees...

Are you facing an unbearable wall with no one to turn to? Or are you told to move on, take a pill and just deal with it?
Let’s be honest, mental health in the workplace is not a new topic. We know it is an issue that will not go away and it faces resistance in environments where co-workers, managers and employers do not want to acknowledge mental health because it is ‘taboo’. What makes this more challenging is the lack of understanding that the mind and body are connected, which means poor mental health can and does affect the body. Yet, many individuals who deal with these issues daily are afraid to be open up to what they face, both with their family or on the job.
Now, let’s throw Neurodiversity on top of mental health.
When we put the two side by side, we see there are quite a few similarities: No one wants to acknowledge that the two exist in the workplace; there is an unwillingness to talk about the two; the work environment may not be safe to mention it and both are viewed as ‘taboo’ and no one wants to deal with them...

When we get our message out, and everyone has understood us, we are delighted, as this means we presented well. Those around us join our cause and they know what to do to get the task done.
The dilemma is how often are we truly understood and how often do we take the time to ensure those that we lead and manage understand our message of what we want?
Too often leaders and managers fire off instructions or commands with the expectations that because they have spoken that all is made clear and that everyone has understood. What is even funnier is they tell them to take notes as if the note-taking alone will further solidify that they had understood...

We often get caught in this vicious internal cycle, where we believe we can’t accomplish anything because of our learning difficulties. We become to believe that we are not capable of a particular subject or task because we are not good enough or we are just not intelligent.
When this goes unchecked, it leads to depression, it can affect intelligence, lead to low performance and, of course, poor self-esteem
What do we call this?
We know this as Learned helplessness...

A workplace environment is filled with a wide variety of people. Some are recognized others are ignored, while others face Neurodiversity challenges that are not understood or supportive. Employes and managers can see these employees challenges as difficult because, for example, they have time management or focusing issues; which, in turn, leads to productivity concerns.
Neurodiverse employees have many strengths but can be overlooked due to their challenges. Businesses have a well of untapped talent which is not being lead to innovation and profitability.
In today's episode, I cover some of these topics and provide tips on how to create a more diverse and inclusive workplace where people feel valued.
