In this episode, we are simply delighted to be with our beloved bliss sister and dear friend, Victoria Bennett (Vik) who is a poet, author, creative activist, and Wild Woman.

When not juggling writing, full-time care, and genetic illness, she can be found where the wild weeds grow…within ALL MY WILD MOTHERS: her debut memoir of motherhood, loss and an apothecary garden.

• Hear the mystic tale of a poet in northern England awakened by Troubadours in the middle of the night.
• We dance on tables... and answer the call to free the wild woman in us.
• We find when we are our authentic selves in the world, we can create anything and that’s when the magic starts!

• When we garden wild, we are celebrating a connection, a companionship, an honoring of our place in a vital biodiverse environment.

• LIFE arrives, reaching for the light, bathing in tears, reckless and determined to grow wild and lush over what was once barren stone.

Her writing spans non-fiction, memoir, poetry and games-based storytelling. It was long listed for the inaugural Nan Shepherd Prize (2019), and the Penguin WriteNow (2020) programme, and was a winner of a Northern Debut Award (2020) for non-fiction from New Writing North, and an early extract won the Mother’s Milk Writing Award 2017.

Vik founded Wild Women Press in 1999 to support rural women writers in her community and curates the global Wild Woman Web project, an inclusive online space focusing on nature, connection, and creativity.

Vik shares, “…stone by stone, seed by seed, life grows not in spite of the broken places, but because of them…”

A California Poet in the Schools, Meredith leads Writing By Heart workshops at public & private schools, women’s prisons, The Institute for Poetic Medicine, The Kennedy Center for the Arts, wellness retreats, and online for adults and teens.

She is the author of Write a Poem, Save Your Life, and three poetry collections, Songlines, Yuba Witch, & River Spells. Meredith was selected as a teaching-artist for an online education program through The Kennedy Center for the Arts. She was made a Poetry Partner by the Institute of Poetic Medicine, and she receives a grant from them each year to teach in the women's prisons.

In this episode, we are in the presence of a Champion…Our Shero…a revolutionary advocate for this planet and its people, Julia Butterfly Hill!

For 738 days Julia Butterfly Hill lived in the canopy of an ancient redwood tree, called Luna, to help make the world aware of the plight of ancient forests. Her courageous act of civil disobedience gained international attention for the redwoods as well as other environmental and social justice issues, which is chronicled in her bestselling book The Legacy of Luna: The Story of a Tree, a Woman, and the Struggle to Save the Redwoods.

• Our souls are transformed by a Super-Shero of Resilience!
• Bear it all...push at edges even when it's uncomfortable because that's where growth happens.
• We find a conscious "No" to one thing is a conscious "Yes" to something else!
• We don't have to hold it all... just allow it to flow through.

Her courage, commitment and profound clarity in articulating a message of hope, empowerment, and love & respect for all life, has inspired millions of people worldwide. After she returned to the ground, Julia toured the world speaking about her experience, and about the many lessons she learned, to the media and audiences large and small.

The recipient of numerous prestigious awards and distinctive honors, Julia Butterfly Hill is one of the most internationally recognizable figures in environmental activism.

Julia founded the non-profit organization, Circle of Life and was the visionary of We The Planet, setting the standards for green festivals, events, and tours in the US. She co-founded the Engage Network and is the inspiration behind What’s Your Tree.

She has addressed the United Nations, lobbied congress, and has continued to stand on the front lines of environmental and social justice issues all over the world.

What if we could glimpse the picture of our lives from the other side? That’s what the dead do, of course—they see at last what life is really for. To touch that reality we have only to pull on a thread and wait for the tug on a heartstring.”

In this episode, we are beyond grateful to have in our presence a living legend, a forty-five year, environmental health activist, John Blair…a commercial mortgage banker turned Pulitzer Prize winning photojournalist. He founded and still serves as president of Valley Watch, Inc. whose purpose is "to protect the [public health and environment of the lower Ohio River Valley. He also published, for three years a monthly newspaper called the Ohio Valley Environment during a really activist surge in the early 1980s.

A believer in active civil disobedience, he gained notoriety when he stole the ground breaking shovels at a Union Carbide hazardous waste facility in Henderson, KY in 1985. Watch the video: https://youtu.be/_V-BvOlXoNY

In 1997, John, had an epiphany regarding the need to eliminate coal as an energy source.

During the early 2000s, he was instrumental in stopping a number of new coal plants as well as helping establish new rules for national air quality standards and helping to establish a number of small community based organization that usually successfully fought local environmental issues.

Since 2018, he has been working with one of those groups-SW indiana Citizens For Quality of Life in Spencer County, IN to stop a bizarre proposal to build a coal to diesel refinery.

• We learn the 3 "C's" of environmental activism: Confrontation, Cooperation and Civil Disobedience.
• Find out one of the best ways to stop a polluting, poisonous behemoth is sometimes to just...steal the shovels...at the groundbreaking...right in front of them...live on the air.

Fred is a graduate of Yale University and Princeton Theological Seminary, He is a meditation guide who loves to gather circles for meditation and poetry.

He lives in a small town on Puget Sound with his beloved wife Anna. It is rumored that he “…loves to walk barefoot in the wet grass at midnight, un-naming the stars.”

In this episode, we are reminded that in our best moments, when we are trusting the divine process, we want not just salvation but purification. The goal is to actually be on fire! That way, anything that comes into our orbit in our being can move from being raw to being "cooked". There is such a fire, the fire of Divine love. We explore this "cooking" process as a spiritual metaphor delivered via the mystical wisdom of Grandma Opal.

We are reminded that many times when we need to stay right here, present with what is, to be patient with the preparation of our being, trusting of the process we try to escape the "cooking". What we feel as discomfort, pain, grief, anger, anxiety, fear and all manner of emotions incases us in a shell that needs this cooking to be softened into comfort, peace, trust, and love.

In this episode, we are saved by a superhero, Jim Poyser.

We are reminded that there’s no time to waste so we cut to the chase. We are inspired to make art to confront the greatest existential threat that humanity has faced in recorded history by bringing honesty, humor, and compassion to all our interactions.

We embrace that conflict is at the heart of creativity and that we need to get our hands dirty to connect, make discoveries, and make an impact. There’s no way to have an authentic conversation about the climate crisis without getting outside our comfort zone.

We are inspired when we are in the thick of it whether it’s a challenging rehearsal, a personal life struggle, or an overwhelming sense of despair in the face of the climate crisis, we remember that the only way out is through. We take a deep breath, hop off the Hope-and-Despair Wheel, and do the work, connect with our communities, and adapt to our circumstances in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

We vow to Take Action by contacting our local, state, and federal Representatives to pass climate legislation and make sure that they hear our voices directly.

We are encouraged to Leave No Trace. When we make a mess, we clean it up. We take responsibility for the impact that we make. ​

We laugh, we cry, we sing, we do skits, and we have dance parties!

We are reminded that Earth is the only planet in our galaxy that can support life. Scientists estimate that Earth is home to about 300,000 plant species, over 600,000 species of fungi, and about ten million animal species. We are made aware that we’re the life of the party!
