In this episode, I have a very special guest joining me - my grandfather, Barry Whitehead. We'll be sharing our personal story of how we found each other through an Ancestry DNA test in September last year. Prior to this test, neither of us knew that the other existed.
This is a deeply personal episode for me, as my father Aaron unfortunately passed away by suicide when I was just three years old. Before his death, he often spoke about his biggest grievance in life - not knowing who his real father was. This caused him a lot of pain and heartache, leaving him feeling rejected. As I've grown older, I've also wanted to know more about my grandfather, but there seemed to be no way to find out. The curiosity got the better of me, which led me to take an Ancestry DNA test, hoping to learn more about my ethnicity and heritage.
To my surprise, I matched with Barry as a 93% match for a grandparent. On the other side of this, Barry lived his whole 68 years prior unaware that he had fathered a child when he was 17 and studying in Ballarat briefly back in 1973. His initial reaction was one of shock and horror, as he took a moment to process what this meant and the reality that he had a son who was no longer alive that he never knew.
In this incredibly special episode, my grandfather and I will be sharing our reactions, how we felt, and how we shared this information with our loved ones. We'll also be discussing the incredible connections and relationships that have since transpired. Our story is truly one in a million, and we're excited to share it with you all.

Welcome back to our Loss Of A Parent Series.
In this episode, we are joined by our first-ever repeat guest, Tara Dowling, who joined us previously to share her inspiring journey of weight loss surgery.
However, in this episode, Tara shares a completely different story as she opens up about the loss of her mother, Trish, to stomach cancer that spread throughout her whole body just four days after Tara became a first-time mother. Trish passed away at just 58 years old and had been brushed off many times when trying to seek a diagnosis over the years of not feeling well. This adds another layer of complexity to Tara's experience of grief, as she not only had to cope with the sudden loss of her mother, but also the fact that her mother's illness may have been preventable or could have been caught earlier.
Tara speaks about navigating grief while adjusting to being a parent for the first time, and how she has been aching for her mother's support and guidance in those early days, something that never really goes away. She candidly shares what it has been like to raise three girls under three with little to no support, and how the death of her mother has affected different family dynamics both positively and negatively.
Tara explains how the loss of her mother, one of the hardest things one can go through, has given her an inner confidence to know she can get through anything. She also talks about how much her mother wanted to be a nanny and how amazing she would have been at it. Tara also shares how tight and connected she is with her husband and three daughters, and how this loss has affected her parenting.

Alysha talks about her experience with the hospital system and how it led her to sign this petition and other ways she honours Isla's life.
Alysha also shares with us how she navigated the grief of losing her daughter Isla. She talks about her hospital experience and the heart-wrenching process of giving birth to a stillborn baby. Alysha opens up about the trauma of being placed on a ward with new mothers and living babies crying, which added to the stress and heartache of the situation.
Alysha also speaks about the changes she experienced in the way people treated her after the loss of her daughter, and how some people ghosted her because they didn't know what to say. She shares how important it is to have a support system and understanding people around you during such a difficult time.
In addition to this, we discuss Alysha's current pregnancy and how she has kept it quiet due to the anxiety and fears that come with pregnancy after loss. Welcome to episode 3 of our "Loss of a Parent" series. In this episode, I speak with Carla Walker, a former classmate of mine from primary school. Carla was a happy, outgoing, and athletic young girl with a dream of making it to the Olympics. Her father was her biggest fan, but all of her hopes and aspirations were shattered when he suddenly passed away when she was just 13 years old.
Carla, who was an only child, speaks candidly about the sudden loss of her dad and how it affected her relationship with her mother, whom she has been super close with throughout this time. She shares the hardships they faced financially after her father's death and the immense pressure she felt as a young girl trying to navigate the aftermath of this tragic event.
Carla's father, Malcolm, passed away from a heart attack while playing cricket, leaving her family and the community shocked and devastated. She speaks about the trauma and how it affected her, both mentally and emotionally, as she tried to process the enormity of losing her dad at such a young age.

Welcome to episode two of our 'Loss of a Parent' series. In this episode, we speak with Shaylan, a business owner, wife, and mum of three children, who lost her mum to suicide when she was just 17 years old.
Shaylan shares with us the devastating loss, the shock, and what she remembers from that night. Despite having different circumstances, we asked each guest the same questions to gain insight into their unique experiences.
As an only child, Shaylan had to step up and grow up instantly, moving into a role of cooking and cleaning as a year 12 student. We talk about how this traumatic, life-altering event affected her personal life, and the path she took in work and study.
Shaylan also opens up about how it affected her parenting and the little moments of grief and pain that are sprinkled throughout everyday life, living without her mum.
In this episode, Shaylan and I connect on a personal level because we both have lost a parent to suicide. We speak about the stigma, shame, and constantly living with the eternal "what ifs." We share our experiences of coping with the aftermath of such a traumatic event and how it has shaped our lives.
*Trigger Warning: This episode contains discussions of suicide. Listener discretion is advised. For helpful links and resources, please refer to the show notes.

In this episode, we speak to Crystal Atkins, a clinical audiologist, new mum, and wife to a paramedic. Crystal shares with us how the families of front line/emergency service workers are also affected by the stresses and strains of their jobs, something that is not often spoken about and can leave partners and family members feeling isolated and misunderstood.
Crystal talks about her childhood, her background, and how she became a clinical audiologist. She also shares how she met her husband, who drew her to him, and how her impressions of paramedics changed once her husband started working in that industry.
Crystal delves into the unique challenges of parenting with a paramedic and the difficulties of solo parenting. She also shares how she supports her husband through the difficult cases and experiences he encounters on the job, and the importance of therapy for both of them in coping with the stresses of their jobs.
We learn what a typical week looks like for Crystal and her husband, as they balance their careers and family life. Crystal also shares her thoughts on the term 'hero' often used to describe paramedics and the benefits of being in a partnership where both partners work in the medical field.
Crystal's aim is to spread awareness about the impact that front line/emergency service work has on families and to help partners and family members feel less isolated and more understood.

In this episode of the podcast, we interview Jessica Sculley, a mother who shares her family's journey with her daughter Sadie's diagnosis. Jessica talks about the first signs of an issue when Sadie was just 3 months old, as she was an extremely colicky and unsettled baby, which led them to visit their GP. The pediatrician suggested that it could be colic, but he had concerns about Sadie's head control, tone, and eye movements.
The situation escalated when Sadie was 5 months old, and an MRI revealed bleeding on her brain, which opened up a child services case. The child services case was ultimately closed because the MRI results were misread, and it turned out that there was no bleeding on Sadie's brain.
The family was left with a lot to deal with, but as time passed, Sadie was diagnosed with several conditions, including nystagmus, affected eyesight, low muscle tone (hypotonia), global developmental delay, epilepsy, and a genetic condition called GNB1 syndrome.
At 2.5 years old, Sadie received a formal autism diagnosis, which added another layer to her complex medical needs. Through it all, Jessica has been a strong advocate for her daughter, navigating the healthcare system, and supporting her family's needs.
Listen to this episode to hear Jessica's perspective on being a parent of a child with complex medical needs, the challenges she faced, and how she's learned to advocate for her daughter.

Back in January this year Steph was suffering from Covid and what she thought was a rally bad case. Eventually after days of excruciating symptoms and starting to worry for the health of her baby Steph was taken into the Emergency Department.
It was then that doctors quickly realised not only was Steph suffering from Covid, she also had HELLP Syndrome. HELLP syndrome is a rare pregnancy complication. It is a type of preeclampsia and has similar symptoms. Early diagnosis is critical because serious illness and even death can occur in about 25% of cases. Most often, the definitive treatment for women with HELLP syndrome is the delivery of their baby and the placenta and thats exactly what happened next for Steph.
Soon after she was rushed down via ambulance to the Royal Women's Hospital, awaiting her husband who was also about to be out of isolation. 48 hours on their baby girl Addie was born, she was rushed off into the NICU ( where she would stay for 3 months) & Steph was taken into ICU.
In this episode we discuss this incredibly traumatic event, not only did Steph almost lose her own life, the health of her baby was at risk and many scary & traumatic events followed this in Addie's time in the NICU. We speak about Steph being essentially robbed of a 'normal' pregnancy & birth and how she has processed it all as we inch closer to the 1 year mark of Addie's Birth.

Meet Erin, A non-diet dietitian from Melbourne. She is a wealth of knowledge and information, In this chat, she shares tips and inspiration to move away from weight loss and towards intuitive eating. She shares her philosophy about ditching diets to explore intuitive eating and a non-diet approach and how liberating, joyful and exciting it can be.
We circle back to Erin's childhood and discuss her relationship with her body and food over the years and how that is impacted by the messages society sends us as young women and diet culture. It’s so normal and common to be scared of gaining weight. We live in a society that idolises thinness, celebrates weight loss and dismisses people with larger bodies. There’s also the idea that weight gain instantly equals poor health. While there’s an association between higher body weight and specific health conditions, it’s not a causation. There’s a big difference.
Often our fear of weight gain lies in our beliefs about larger bodies. From a young age, diet culture teaches us to see thin as good and fat as bad. Whether it’s a family member commenting on our bodies, public health campaigns or messaging from our favourite Disney movies, they tell us the same story, it’s terrible to gain weight or be in a larger body.
You will hear the passion in Erin's voice and her deep desire to help other women and men achieve a healthy balance and relationship with food and their bodies - Just the way they are! Check out the links in the show notes to see how you can work with Erin.

4 years ago Lee decided it was time to dedicate that year to address her health.
At the time she was suffering from terrible plantar fasciitis in both feet and knew her family history of bowel cancer and gastric issues, she also was unhappy with her weight. Once she took this step it was discovered that she had a
huge Hiatus Hernia that had pulled 2/3 of her stomach from its lining. An operation was needed to fix the hernia and assess the damage to her oesophagus.
3 hrs of surgery later, the hernia was back in her stomach, the oesophagus was repaired and ended up with a roux en y bypass as a result of the damage. Lee's life was about to change drastically and in her words, she got a second take, a second chance at life.
If these issues went untreated there was a chance of death.
So much has changed in her life in the last 4 years from the diet, food intake methods, food limitations, a renewed enthusiasm for exercise, 45kilos weight loss and a WHOLE LOT of learning to love herself, be present with her family and get in the family photos!
Lee wants to inspire fellow women and mothers to permit themselves to put themselves and their needs first. Make yourself a priority so that you can be the best version of yourself for your family.

Did you know there are around 100 surrogacy births in Australia every year? Although Kat offered in February 2021, it takes time to get through the process to be a surrogate.
Surrogacy is NOT illegal in Australia. What is illegal is to advertise for a surrogate and for a surrogate to be compensated in any way financially. It is also recommended the surrogate has finished growing her family first.
This week we are speaking with Shannon & Kat, this is an incredible story of friendship and hope. Shannon was born with Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser syndrome (MRKH) and chances are you have never heard of it. It’s when a female is born without a uterus or cervix and possibly without one kidney. It’s not life-threatening but it’s definitely life-changing. She wasn’t properly diagnosed until about 27 years of age, after multiple appointments and surgeries Shannon was at the end of the line with surrogacy as her only option.
When sharing this news with her lifelong best friend, Shannon was not expecting Kat to offer to be her surrogate (especially at 6 weeks postpartum with her 2nd child). After having her own struggles conceiving and experiencing a devasting miscarriage a few years ago, Kat's perspective was completely shifted. Kat speaks about her motivation and inspiration for offering the ultimate gift ( carrying and birthing Shannon & Scott's baby boy) and also some of the interesting and sometimes offensive comments they have both received throughout this experience.
Finally, I speak with the ladies about their decision to document their journey on their Instagram page "Two Friends & A Snowflake" and what inspired them to share.
Kat is currently 33 weeks pregnant with this little miracle boy and they are truly on the home stretch, Shannon & Scott are SO close to meeting their son. I know so many will leave this episode feeling inspired, more educated on this topic and blown away by these women and this incredible story.

Around 500 strokes will be experienced by infants and children in Australia each year. While the numbers are small, the impact can be devastating and life-long for families. At 33 weeks pregnant Dee fell to her knees in an appointment, with a sharp pain down one side of her body, she would later find out this was her unborn baby experiencing a stroke in utero, this would go undiagnosed for months after Emma was born,
After seeing 3 different GPs voicing her concerns that Emma was unable to use the right side of her body, she would finally get a diagnosis for her almost 1-year-old.
While Dee should have been enjoying getting to know her precious little bub like other first-time mums, she was dealing with a barrage of doctors, test results and life-changing news. She felt anxious, overwhelmed and isolated.
While navigating through Emma's diagnosis, Dee has co-founded "Little Stroke Warriors". Since the group launched, it has grown from a small support network into a government advocacy organisation. Little Stroke Warriors received $4 million from the Federal Government for the Australian Paediatric Acute Code Stroke project, and the group has produced the Our Family Stroke Journey booklet. Their end goal is to make sure parents don’t leave the hospital scratching their heads in confusion and turning to Dr Google in desperation for answers like they did.
While Dee does not want praise and admiration for doing what, in her opinion, every parent would do in this situation, I can't help but be inspired and in awe of her love for her daughter Emma and her passion and dedication to advocate for those living with a disability. Access, Inclusion, Visibility and basic human rights are what she is striving for and I know you will leave this episode with a new perspective on this topic.

Belinda Robbie is a Case Manager who has supported women & children at The Salvation Army Ballarat for the past 12yrs. At just 17 years of age, Belinda found herself homeless and expecting her first child with the support of services like the Salvation Army she was able to get back on her feet and find a home.
Inspired by her own experience in this system and wanting to give back, Belinda went on to study and is now supporting women & families who were just like her all those years ago.
The Salvation Army Homelessness Ballarat offers a range of services & programs assisting families experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. This is something that could happen to anyone, it only takes one or two significant life events that can turn everything upside down. An illness, losing employment, losing your license, relationship breakdown, family violence and the list goes on!
In this episode, we chat about some of the common judgements and misconceptions when it comes to homelessness, why it's so important to advocate for these families and why you should never judge someone who has found themselves in this terrifying situation. Homelessness is far more than “rootlessness”. Homelessness means being without a safe, sustainable and private place to live. In Ballarat, over 60% of persons seeking housing assistance from specialist homelessness services did not get safe and secure housing in 2020-21.
As this episode goes live it is National Homelessness Week, every day this week here in Ballarat you can join “Walking for Homeless” around Lake Wendouree. Complex PTSD is the result of experiencing multiple traumas throughout your life, it is considered chronic and manageable but does not have a cure. Since speaking with Amelia about her journey i have to say this has been one of my most eye opening interviews to date, hearing her story and the way she has been able to overcome so many awful and terrible things has had a real impact on me and i know it will for you too!
For as long as Amelia can remember she has experienced some form of bullying and exclusion. Starting in Primary School and subsequently following her into High School and then the workplace where employers would use fear based tactics and flat out poor treatment to motivate their staff to work harder and keep their jobs.
In this episode Amelia walks us through this journey and gives the listeners an insight into what its like to live with Complex PTSD and the treatment and management she has found most beneficial. We chat about the symptoms of this condition and how this affects her in relationships, the workplace and her own self worth.
Make no mistake, Amelia is not a victim nor does she live in that headspace or mentality. She believes it is up to her to do 'the work' in order to create a beautiful and meaningful life and she wants to inspire others who have been in her position that they too can have that freedom. She is truly an incredibly inspiring person who has now created such an amazing life with her husband Lou and is working in a job that she feels safe and valued.
There is so much that we can all take away from this episode but above all else its so important to BE KIND and treat each other with respect. Thank you Amelia for sharing your story with us.

It could be easy to look at Zadie's current life and think it has been an easy road to the beautiful life she has created for herself and her family but it has been tough.
In her teen years Zadie became a career for her ill Mother, was helping to raise her young brothers and even sleeping with her baby brother in her room. By the time Zadie was 18 she was married with. a baby and a young stepdaughter, her dreams and desires had been put on hold and while her friends were out partying Zadie was deep in Motherhood and things in her marriage were not going well.

In this episode i speak with Danielle Kettlewell, she is an Author, Speaker, Coach, Podcast Host and OLYMPIAN. I virtually sat down for a chat with Danielle to not only discuss the incredible success she has achieved in her 29 years of life but the journey it took to get there and how she never EVER thought it was possible for her to become an Olympian.
In October 2013 she suffered a bad concussion which forced her to drop out of university, but then only one month later and one day after her 21st birthday she discovered she could relocate to Australia with the once in a lifetime opportunity to try out of for the National Team. Danielle is a synchronised swimmer and at just 21 years old her team qualified to represent the Australian Team in the 2016 Rio Olympics. She spent 5 years on the National Team, 3 World Championships and made history as part of Australia's "Mixed Duet".
Danielle is now a Coach and Motivational Speaker, host of her own podcast "The Beautiful Souls Podcast" and Author of her first book "The Unlikely Olympian". Drawing from her own experiences of self doubt, body dysmorphia and personal life experiences, She shares this knowledge and wisdom with all of us and the ways she was able to break free from those limiting thoughts and hard times!
As i know Danielle is well versed in this space and has been a guest of MANY podcasts, radio and television shows i was determined to ask Danielle unique questions and get to know another side of her that maybe we hadn't seen before and i think we really achieved that! She had us both in tears at one point and was so incredibly open and vulnerable.

We all know cheating is a yucky word and is obviously an awful thing to go through, but some of the most profound things i took away from this episode were the long lasting effects of cheating and having an unfaithful partner, the self esteem and relationship issues it can bring into future relationships and the impact it can have on your confidence as a person.

Endometriosis (en-doh-me-tree-o-sis) is a word that 1 in 10 women* hear from their Gynaecologist, relating to their ongoing pain or as an explanation for their fertility problems. It is one of the most commonly seen gynaecological diseases, yet is poorly understood and not commonly talked about. Caitlyn is 1 in 10, after suffering painful periods for years, ongoing migraines and excruciating chronic pain she was finally able to get a formal diagnosis and was sent off for her first excision.
A few months after her surgery and having a taste of some normality and minimal pain, the symptoms suddenly came back with a vengeance. When Caitlyn spoke with her Doctor and voiced her concerns that the Endo had grown back, she was dismissed and told it was likely a psychological disorder that causes her to think she is in pain when she is not. Feeling confused Caitlyn pushed on convinced this intense pain was all in her head, until she physically could not anymore. She has advocated for herself over the years and has now found a medical team that she trusts to help her manage this illness and have the best quality of life.
Finally we chat about the affects Endometriosis in EVERY area of Caitlyn's life not just physically & mentally but financially and sexually. Living in constant pain and not knowing when it will be extreme has affected Caitlyn's ability to work and be a reliable employee.
It has had an affect on her relationship and friendships when Caitlyn is unable to "show up" in a myriad of ways, feeling frustrated at herself for something she simply cannot control. I know this experience is something so many uterus owners experience and we want to open this conversation up so that if you are someone who suffers from this - you feel less alone!

Kim Teoh was born in Malaysia and at just 8 years old she moved to Australia with her family. Her Dad is Chinese and her Mum Eurasian (a mixture of European and Asian descent).
So while Kim is not Malay in race, because she was born in Malaysia she is technically "Malaysian". This alone has been something that Kim has struggled to explain throughout her life to those around her, and has caused many internal struggles with her own identity from a very young age.
In this episode Kim gives us an insight on her experience with Racism throughout her life and her struggles with her identity and figuring out where she fits in. Immigrating to a foreign country had its challenges (and still does too this day!)sometimes dictating her career path and ability to do things such a buy a house in the country she calls home.
Kim speaks about the derogatory abuse she has both witnessed and received throughout her life, her worst experiences with racism/bias and the lack of education when it comes to Race & Culture in this country. We chat about the incredible sacrifice immigrants make financially and personally to call Australia home and what Kim wants people to learn from this conversation moving forward.
Here Kim explains how she feels about being an Australian;
"Legally I am not "Australian", but what makes someone Australian? Is it their skin colour?
Is it their accent?
Is it how much they contribute to the Australian economy? and how much tax they pay? or does it truly all come down to a piece of document that says "Australian citizen".
In my heart and soul, I know I am Australian and am meant to be here.

*Trigger Warning In this episode we discuss body image, disordered eating, binging, purging, weight loss, weight gain and suicidal thoughts. Please proceed with caution or skip this episode if you find any of this triggering. Helpful links and resources linked below.*For as long as Mikaela can remember she has struggled with her weight and body image. Growing up she was bullied and taunted for her weight and sadly this turned into severe disordered eating and binging/purging excessively. She quickly noticed the positive attention and compliments as the weight fell off and used this as motivation to continue to starve herself or purge the small amount of food she was consuming.
Cut to 2020 the pandemic hits and Mikaela found herself in a dark place, a bad relationship and suffering physically and mentally - in this time she gained 60kgs. After a lifetime of deprivation things quickly switched to the other extreme, isolated and ending her engagement Mikalea was at her biggest weight and her lowest point mentally and physically.
After multiple lockdowns the gyms were open and for the first time in her life Mikaela focused on a one step at a time approach towards a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Slow and steady she began working out and making small healthy changes losing 45kgs naturally. Mikalea was privately documenting this journey for her own motivation: she eventually decided to be vulnerable and bravely share it too the world via her instagram page, her determination is something to be admired and you will be in complete awe of this complete transformation of a girl who has taken back the power and is living her best life!

*Trigger Warning This episode contains discussions of sexual abuse, drug/substance abuse, violence, neglect and traumatic events. Please listen at your own discretion and see links in show notes for support.*
Shari Plater is a proud Mother to her two children Nate & Ellie and Fiancé to her partner Ash. From as far back as Shari can remember her childhood was hard, traumatic and living in complete survival mode. Raised by a parent with a heavy drug addiction and witnessing overdose multiple times, Shari was forced to grow up very quickly.
With no other choice but to step into the role of the caretaker and 'Mum' for her younger siblings, they were often without gas, electricity or food with all the funds going towards her mothers addiction. Shari would have no other choice but to either steal food for her siblings or get accustomed to the feeling of being hungry all the time. She eventually left school to take care of her brothers and sisters.
Shari was exposed to incredibly unsafe and unsettling situations and behaviours on a daily basis, bearing so much weight and responsibility on a young girls shoulders and constantly living in fight or flight. She was not only sexually abused as a minor by a family member but also used by her mother to "pay her drug debts". These incredibly heartbreaking and devastating situations left Shari completely traumatised to this day. These are things that no person or child should EVER have to experience.
Shari has bravely opened up and bared her soul in hopes that her story will help people who need it. Growing up feeling so incredibly alone and unsafe she is proof that anything is possible and even the hardest and most awful circumstances can make one incredibly kind, warm, friendly and wonderful person.

Just under a year ago Nikita and her husband Harley received the most devasting diagnosis for their youngest child Isla - Battens Disease, a rare genetic disorder otherwise known as Childhood Dementia that affects 1 in 100,000 children and Isla being one of only two children in Australia with CLN1.
Nikita became concerned about her little girl when she hit 18-20 months and her development was very delayed. She had hit her milestones rather quickly up until that point - she rolled, sat up, crawled, walked, said a few words, was eating independently, all the "normal" things. After pleading with
Nikita saw a few doctors before she was taken seriously. On her final visit she pleaded with a physician who finally listened and fast-tracked Isla's paediatric appointment from July 2021 to early March 2021. All the necessary tests were conducted over a week. All genetic testing results were going to take up to eight weeks and, in the meantime, all other tests were coming back "normal". Fast forward a few weeks and Isla was regularly in and out of hospital. She had lost the ability to walk, stand, and was constantly lethargic. She'd stopped chewing, was choking, was back on puree foods, and her general health had deteriorated very quickly.
This rare genetic imprinting disorder that will profoundly affect her life in every aspect. This disorder will cause Isla to struggle with developmental delay, speech impairment, painful seizures, vision impairment and loss, problems with thinking, movement and balance! It also means Isla will always require around the clock care, and eventually, palliative care and currently there is no cure!
Nikita and her family are determined to not only spread awareness about this rare disease but hopeful that once Isla is accepted into clinical trials in the US her life and abilities could be improved significantly. It is their mission to be loud and proud and spread this story far and wide to give Isla every chance and opportunity at the life she deserves.

Proof that you can completely rebuild your life, Chelsea bravely and openly shares the toughest and hardest moments of her life. She gives a new outlook and perspective for those that instinctively judge these women and forget to see that many are victims of domestic violence, emotional abuse and coercion. What started out as a hobby, browsing op shops & a love for collecting football jumpers quickly became in his own words "an obsession". When Judda was made redundant from his fulltime job in 2020 he decided it was the perfect time to really give his gig on Ebay reselling items a real go. While i know him as Judda he goes by Diary of a Flipper on his socials, not only is he reselling items he also has a youtube channel documenting his journey.
Over the last few years he has gained quite the online presence and become a successful full time reseller. Not only has he been able to make a career out of this, he has also been able to meet like minded people and create lifelong friendships in this space.
In this episode Judda explains the process and different methods of reselling, how he stores the thousands of items he sells and the work and time behind listing items/running his business. We chat about the misconceptions surrounding resellers and the bad wrap they sometimes get for profiting in this field. We discuss his most profitable resell and how he landed himself the title of the number one jeans reseller in Australia. He speaks about his goal in the near future to have a warehouse to work out of and how he is already taking on staff to help with the demand.
Switching gears Judda opens up about his experience with Post Natal Anxiety as a first time Father, we go back to the beginning of his Wife's pregnancy when he first noticed changes in himself and how witnessing a traumatic birth and taking care of a newborn then exacerbated this anxiety & worry. He explained the constant fear he had that something was not only wrong with his newborn son, but also himself. Aside from some later confirmed allergies Judda describes the physical effect that anxiety and stress can have on your body & how it can lead you to believe and convince you that something is really wrong.
We chat about the strategies he has in place to manage his anxiety and how much credit he gives his Wife, his Osteopath & Psychologist. Also explaining to us how incorporating breath-work has been a game changer for him. Judda wants other men speak up if they are struggling with something similar, we chat about how detrimental comments like "weak to speak" & "Blokes don't cry" can really be.
Although Judda initially found it hard and embarrassing to speak up and ask for help, he now hopes that these conversations surrounding anxiety and mental can be normalised and he can be an inspiration role model for his own son.

In 2018 Scarlett & her husband welcomed their second child Arli, a little sister for their son Huey. At around 5 months of age Scarlett started to notice something was not quite right,
Arli would have very short and subtle spasms, sometimes diverting her eyesight or going stiff in her limbs. Unable to catch it on video and their concern understandably growing they took Arli into Emergency, where she wasn't dismissed and told it was anything to be concerned about and that she was merely "getting a fright".
In this episode Scarlett talks us through the devastating diagnosis and gives us all a greater understanding of what Infantile Spasms are, what they look like and how serious the implications can be if they are misdiagnosed in infants. She explains the extensive testing/hospital & GP visits involved, trialling over 10 medications all of which have been unsuccessful and the ongoing therapies needed for Arli to make progress and thrive.
We chat about the daily reality of caring for a child with special needs and the impact this has had on them as a family.
A mothers intuition is like no other and Scarlett is the epitome of this: following her gut feeling from the very beginning and having such incredible knowledge and understanding of her daughters condition she continues to advocate and fight for Arli and bring awareness to this rare form of Epilepsy.
Finally we discuss the level of acceptance she has reached moving forward and offers advice to parents who suspect their child might be having spasms and urges all parents who are concerned to follow their gut and not to be dismissed until they get some answers.
I am so incredibly grateful for Scarletts time and honesty, below i will link some helpful resources recommended by Scarlett, If you would like to follow Aril's journey, please reach out to Scarlett on her Instagram linked below:

* Trigger warning in this episode i will be discussing domestic and family violence and depictions of violent events, if you find this kind of content upsetting or distressing i would advise you do not listen to part one or part two.*
Following up from last weeks episode, today i bring you part two of my experience growing up amongst domestic violence.
In part two i reflect on the times i was approached by my primary school teachers and later down the line by my co-workers when they suspected things were not okay at home.
I discuss the worst relationship my Mum was ever in and how it was hardest time on my entire life along with some of the most frightening moments i have ever witnessed and how these things had an effect on me then VS now. One of those side effects being a nervous tick that i developed in the thick of living amongst the violence .
I explain the fragile reality of actually "Leaving" and how helpless and stuck you can really feel in those moments where there is nowhere else to go.
I run through the emotional abuse and gaslighting i would be subjected too if i was unable to act as though things were fine and how that encouraged me to keep these awful truths from my friends and those closest to me.

* Trigger warning in this episode i will be discussing domestic and family violence and depictions of violent events, if you find this kind of content upsetting or distressing i would advise you do not listen to part one or part two.*
This week i bring you a very personal and heavy episode, i share with you my experience growing up amongst domestic and family violence.
"Where domestic and family violence exists, the home is not safe or secure and children are scared about what might happen to them and the people they love"
In part one of this two part series I read aloud some statistics pertaining to DV/FV in Australia, the affect it has on children (particularly in their first 5 years of life) and the personal long term affects it has had on me.
I go back right back to my earliest memories of violence and hostilely occurring, i explain how "Normal" it was for me to witness that kind of behaviour and how it is only really hitting me now as a parent myself that this is not "normal".
I briefly walk through each new partner of my Mum's throughout the years and the different forms or physical and emotional abuse that was endured, not just for her but us children too.
I explain the exposure i had from a very young age to drugs, alcohol and unsafe behaviour and how i processed my feelings and emotions during those times. I explain how complex it can be for the victim and family members to navigate through such difficult and scary circumstances.
Please tune in next week for part two where i talk about the worst few years of my life and some of the scariest moments i have ever endured and been witness too.
