We talk with Mike Worley about why small acts of service can change the trajectory of kids in crisis and how a “safe and comfortable” version of faith misses the point. We break down how CarePortal turns real local needs into practical next steps, and why showing up consistently matters even when foster care and adoption get hard.

A pastor with 550,000 miles on his truck might not look like your typical ministry story, and that’s exactly why this conversation sticks. Anthony takes us from a strict but loving childhood shaped by his grandmother’s church faith, to the teenage years where he ran hard in the other direction, and then to the moment his own daughter invited him back.
We dig into what Christian calling and obedience really look like when life gets messy. Anthony shares how ministry grew step by step: serving in a middle-school church plant, feeling the tug toward youth ministry, getting trained, preaching, and eventually being ordained. Then came COVID, burnout, and a surprising pivot into RV transport, trucking across the country while building a YouTube ministry. If you’ve ever felt stuck waiting for the “big change,” you’ll love his simple decision-making prayer: “God, if this is you, open the doors. But if it’s not, close them.”
Subscribe for more faith stories that feel honest, share this with a friend who’s in a season of waiting, and leave a review so more listeners can find the show. What’s one door you’re asking God to open or close right now?

We sit down with Sharon to talk about what it feels like when a medical bill you cannot afford gets wiped away at the exact moment you are ready to pay. Along the way, we unpack grace, mercy, and trust, and why remembering past provision can fuel courage in the present.
• A financial miracle involving medical bills, hospital grants, and a canceled genetic lab balance
• Grace versus mercy explained through real-life provision and an unexpected refund
• Trust as a daily question from God and why it feels harder in certain seasons
• Remembering past hardship to see where God was present and to strengthen faith now
• Matthew 18:21-35 as a picture of debt wiped clean and gratitude in response

A heart monitor goes blank, the hallway feels empty, and the next minutes stretch into something you never forget. We’re releasing this on Mother’s Day on purpose, because this holiday can carry a lot of emotion, and sometimes the most honest gift is a real story told with trembling gratitude. My mom joins me for a vulnerable conversation about why it’s hard to share personal testimony, how easily people can misread our intentions, and why feeling “less than perfect” can make us stay quiet when our story might help someone else.
Then we step into the miracle that changed our family: the day my dad, Gary, suffered a “Widowmaker” heart attack. My mom walks through the details from the perspective of a wife and a longtime healthcare worker, from the first “it’s probably indigestion” moment to the decision to go to the hospital, the tests that looked fine, and the storm outside that mirrors the chaos inside. She describes the shock of seeing the monitor showing nothing, the certainty of being widowed, and what it means to wait while staff work to revive someone you love.
You’ll hear the theme that threads it all together: gratefulness is essential, and miracles show up in both the dramatic moments and the quiet ones. If you need a reminder to look for the good when plans change, this one is for you. Subscribe & share it with someone who needs hope today, and leave a review with one big or small miracle you’ve seen lately.

The Lord’s Prayer might be the most memorized Christian prayer in the world, which also makes it dangerously easy to skim. We sit down with Brad Nelson to slow it all the way down, chasing the original context, the translation details, and the lived implications that hit hardest when life is ordinary and messy.
We explore Brad's favorite Hebrew root word, kaved, and how “heavy” burdens can somehow become “glory.” We also unpack the Lord’s Prayer’s communal language, why the familiar doxology appears later in church history, and why “Our Father in the heavens” can train us to zoom out for trust while also zooming in for God’s nearness.
Some moments are unforgettable: forgiveness pictured through the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea, awe as a practice that rewires how we see the world, and “your kingdom come” as the center of Jesus’ message and our daily discipleship. We also take “deliver us from evil” seriously, naming the dangers of obsession and denial, and why resisting evil looks like cruciform love shaped by the truth of Scripture.
If you’ve wanted a Lord’s Prayer study that is biblical, practical, and honest about real life, press play. Subscribe, share this with a friend who needs fresh language for prayer, and leave a review so more listeners can find the show.

Today we sit with Nicole, a mom who once doubted modern miracles, as she walks us through a delivery room where time stalled, medicine strained, and prayer broke through. Her daughter’s shoulder locked, her head delivered but body stuck, and for three minutes there was no breath and no heartbeat. Two zero Apgar scores, a room full of experts, and the sound of bagging and compressions—then, finally, life. What happened next is just as gripping: Nicole’s catastrophic birth injury required immediate repair, and the rare specialist needed for that surgery was, inexplicably, already at the hospital. Even then, the true danger hid until a sharp-eyed nurse refused to look away, caught a silent hemorrhage, and moved fast enough to save a mother who was herself dying.
We don’t rush past the aftermath. Nicole’s husband held the line at home while carrying his own fear, a perspective men too often swallow in crises like birth trauma and miscarriage. If this conversation moved you, share it with someone who needs hope today, hit follow, and leave a review with the moment that stayed with you most. We’d love to hear your story too.

We trace how a hidden lie—“I am not loved”—can take root even when life is full of love, and how God gently replaces it with truth. Through journaling, Scripture, breath, and a picture of a Father’s heart, we move from head knowledge to heart knowledge.
• naming I am statements that wound
• pairing each lie with a clear biblical truth
• using Scripture to anchor identity
• breathing practices to embody truth
• recognizing how focus distorts love
• moving truth from mind to heart
• Advent as a call to slow down
• asking God for wisdom with expectancy

A warm note of gratitude sets the stage for a frank, grace-filled conversation about church hurt...what it is, what it isn’t, and how we heal without denying hard truths. We welcome Scott Martin, who opens up about the loneliness of leadership, the danger of pedestal culture, and the quiet ways identity drift turns pastors into performers. Scott draws a clear line between abuses of authority and the everyday bumps of human community, then shows how clarity and humility can prevent small missteps from becoming public meltdowns.
We unpack what it means to be “in Christ,” not as a religious add-on but a core identity that steadies us when roles change and criticism cuts deep. That identity reframes expectations: pastors are guides, not saviors; congregants are partners, not consumers. Together we explore the hard balance of grace and truth—naming sin, refusing gossip, practicing accountability, and still choosing patient love. With COVID-era tensions and social media pressures as backdrop, Scott makes a compelling case for slow, honest leadership that admits “I don’t know” and keeps moving one faithful step at a time.
The heart of our podcast lands here: while the church can wound us, God heals us through the church. We consider the church as the bride of Christ and how our words either honor or tear at that bond. Unity becomes more than a slogan; it’s the everyday discipline that gives our witness credibility. If you’ve been hurt by leaders or by a community that should have protected you, we see you. Receive our sincere apology and an invitation to take one small, safe step back toward people who can walk with you.

A life can harden long before it ends. Stephen grew up in chaos, violence at home, abandonment, and abuse, then stumbled into his own storm of crime, grief, and addiction. Facing a possible 30-year sentence, he met a pastor whose quiet authority and lived joy cracked something open. What followed wasn’t a neat turnaround; it was a rugged apprenticeship to grace that reshaped how he saw God, himself, and the people who had wounded him.
We walk through the moments that mattered: the courtroom mercy that no one expected, the late-night wrestle with Scripture that reframed God as a loving Father, and the hard, practical work of forgiveness. Stephen explains why forgiveness is a choice rather than a feeling, and how aiming anger at the real enemy can keep a heart from calcifying. He shares the “taproot” model he uses in counseling - naming root wounds, tracing their bitter fruit, and cutting unforgiveness at its source so new fruit can grow. He also opens up about reconciling with his father and the tender strength required to forgive abusers while still holding wise boundaries.
If you’ve ever felt trapped by your past, scanning every room for danger, this conversation offers a way forward. You’ll hear clear steps you can apply today: write the letter, pray for the one who harmed you, forgive again when anger resurfaces, and let trusted community hold your story without judgment. The result isn’t denial—it’s freedom. Share with someone who needs hope, and leave a review to let us know: what’s one root you’re ready to face this week?

Sarah-Jane's journey begins in the unexpected transition from England's Sherwood Forest to Australia's Sunshine Coast, a bold move that ultimately led her to a life-changing encounter with Jesus. Growing up in a nominally Christian household but facing trauma and depression in her youth, Sarah-Jane spiraled into unhealthy patterns before making the decision to travel across the world for a fresh start.
What follows is a remarkable story of transformation that illustrates the beautiful contrast in how God works. In one profound moment at church, Sarah-Jane experienced Jesus removing what felt like a heavy, water-soaked World War II trench coat from her shoulders, instantly lifting the burden of her past pain and mistakes. This immediate deliverance stands in stark contrast to another significant spiritual marker in her life: receiving a prophetic word about "widening her tent pegs" from Isaiah 54, a direction she's still unpacking years later.
This duality becomes a powerful reminder for listeners navigating their own faith journeys. In a culture demanding instant results, Sarah-Jane's testimony validates both the immediate miracles and the long, seemingly silent seasons of waiting.
Whether you're experiencing a wilderness season or seeking encouragement in your faith journey, Sarah-Jane's parting wisdom resonates deeply: "It's okay to not have all your ducks in a row... God totally has this, even if it just doesn't feel like it in the moment."

Legin shares how God completely transformed his life, turning his name (Nigel) backward to symbolize how the gospel changed his direction and purpose. Through raw stories of forgiveness and divine appointments, he demonstrates how authentic faith can reach people who might never enter a church.
• After years of bitterness, Legin forgave his absent father just before his unexpected passing
• Experienced a divine appointment in a London pub with a suicidal man wearing cross earrings who had never heard the gospel
• Creates hip-hop music specifically designed to reach people who wouldn't normally engage with Christianity
• Left his secure job in 2013 to pursue ministry full-time, experiencing God's provision every month

Katie Hauck's powerful testimony will transform how you view faithfulness and purpose in seemingly small acts of obedience. With raw vulnerability, Katie shares her journey from deep shame about her blended family to discovering beauty in brokenness, ultimately reaching millions through prison ministries after years of apparent ministry failure.
Her perspective on Isaiah—who prophesied faithfully for sixty years, likely died believing he'd failed, yet became one of history's greatest prophets—offers profound encouragement for anyone wondering if their efforts matter. "The Lord may be using you in ways you can't see," Katie reminds us, challenging our culture's obsession with immediate, measurable results.
Katie's fresh insight on Jesus feeding the 5,000 might forever change how you read this familiar story. Why did only one boy offer his lunch? Katie suggests others either hoarded their provisions or believed their small offering wasn't enough to matter. "God doesn't need it to be enough," she explains. "He just needs your obedience to give what you have, and He'll multiply it."
For anyone struggling with shame about past mistakes, feeling inadequate in ministry, or wondering if small acts of faithfulness truly matter, this conversation offers life-giving perspective. You'll walk away with renewed confidence that God works through our broken pieces, insufficient offerings, and humble obedience to create extraordinary impact—often in ways we may never witness in our lifetime.
What small act of obedience might God be asking of you today? What "not enough" offering is He waiting for you to surrender? Listen now and rediscover how God's kingdom advances through ordinary people doing faithful things.

Dr. Titus Kennedy, a biblical archaeologist specializing in the Eastern Mediterranean, reveals how archaeological discoveries provide tangible evidence of the Bible's historical accuracy. His journey from childhood fascination with Troy to uncovering Canaanite altars demonstrates how archaeology transforms abstract biblical narratives into concrete historical realities.
• The discovery of a 9th century BC "House of David" inscription dramatically changed scholarly views on David's existence
• Archaeologists have found evidence for 132 people mentioned in the Bible
• Kennedy's favorite biblical figure is Daniel, whose story offers both spiritual guidance and archaeological richness
• Future archaeological possibilities include discoveries related to Noah's Ark, Sodom and Gomorrah, and early biblical manuscripts
Find Dr. Kennedy's work in his books "Unearthing the Bible," "Excavating the Evidence for Jesus," and his forthcoming book documenting archaeological evidence for 132 biblical figures.

What happens when secrets protected for survival become the very chains that imprison us? Cecilia McCaw knows this journey intimately. Smuggled into the United States as a child and living undocumented for years, she guarded family secrets out of necessity. But even after gaining legal status, those secrets morphed into shame-filled barriers that prevented authentic connection and perpetuated lies about her worth.
"Knowledge is plentiful, but wisdom is scarce," Cecilia shares, highlighting how divine wisdom transcends formal education. Despite struggling with illiteracy due to language barriers, she found herself speaking truth to doctoral graduates—a testament to wisdom's power over mere information. This distinction forms the foundation of her message about identity: understanding whose we are determines who we are.
The conversation takes us deep into the battlefield of the mind, where childhood experiences plant seeds that shape our adult identity. Cecilia vulnerably unpacks how moving experiences from "secret files" to "private files" broke the enemy's power in her life. By sharing authentically with discernment, she discovered freedom from the "not enough" lies that once defined her. Her practical approach to healing—comparing it to peeling an onion one layer at a time—offers hope to anyone wrestling with past trauma.
Perhaps most compelling is Cecilia's candid admission about comparison. From swimsuit insecurities to ministry effectiveness, she reveals how comparison steals joy and invites destructive thoughts. Her remedy? Recognizing our unique design in God's tapestry, where each person has a specific purpose—whether as a corner piece with straight edges or those quirky pieces with unusual shapes.
Ready to break free from secrets that no longer serve you? Cecilia's story proves that vulnerability becomes our superpower when surrendered to God's purposes. Share this episode with someone struggling to embrace their true identity—because authentic connection begins when we stop hiding and start healing.

We've all been caught in the trap of responding "crazy busy" when someone asks how we're doing. But what if our obsession with busyness is actually preventing us from living our true purpose?
In this soul-stirring conversation, Nancy Brusher reconnects with her high school friend Muffie Kruse to explore how simplifying our lives can lead to greater fulfillment. Muffie, a registered dietitian and homeschooling mother of three young boys, shares her journey of breaking free from what she calls the "taskmaster spirit" – that constant drive to check everything off the list at the expense of presence and connection.
Challenging conventional wisdom, Muffie explains that simplifying isn't just about doing less or owning fewer things. Rather, it's about eliminating distractions so we can step fully into our calling.
For anyone feeling overwhelmed by constant demands and endless to-do lists, this episode provides both practical wisdom and spiritual encouragement. Muffie's insights on prayer, presence, and purposeful living offer a roadmap for moving from perpetual busyness to meaningful engagement with what God has called us to do and who He's called us to become.
Listen now to discover how simplifying your life might actually expand your capacity for joy, purpose, and impact. Then share this episode with four friends who need this message of freedom from the cultural pressure to be constantly "crazy busy."

Do you ever wonder if Sunday church attendance is enough to build lasting faith in your children? This question lies at the heart of my conversation with Shawna Goldstein, a passionate Bible teacher and mother of three teenage boys who's on a mission to equip parents for their most important role - discipling the next generation.
Shauna shares a startling statistic that changed her perspective: while about 60% of Americans identify as Christians, only 4% are living as disciples of Jesus. This gap isn't just concerning - it's reshaping how we understand what it means to raise children in faith. "We can't just shove that job off on the church," Shawna explains. "We are the main ones responsible for the spiritual growth of our kids.”
• Finding God in everyday moments makes faith real and accessible
• Bible teaching should be age-appropriate, interactive, and engaging
• Different parenting stages require different discipleship approaches
• Praying aloud over children models the importance of prayer
• Listening well to teens creates opportunities for deeper conversations
• Everyone has a role in discipling the next generation
Whether you're a parent seeking practical tools, a grandparent wondering how to influence the next generation, or someone without children looking to make disciples, this conversation offers wisdom for bringing faith beyond Sunday morning and into everyday life. Listen now to discover how small, consistent efforts can transform not just your family's spiritual journey, but potentially an entire generation.

What happens when a skeptical news reporter becomes a passionate advocate for faith? Jennifer Dukes Lee's extraordinary journey from doubt to dedication reveals how persistent questioning can lead to profound belief.
Jennifer opens up about her background as a journalist who interrogated presidential candidates with the same rigor she later applied to scripture. With refreshing honesty, she admits she doesn't have a neat conversion story—just a gradual awakening to God's persistent pursuit. "Even when I didn't believe in God, He believed in me," she reflects, capturing the essence of a faith journey many listeners will recognize in their own lives.
The conversation takes a turn when Jennifer shares the never-before-told story of being trapped in her wrecked car during a blizzard. A stranger in a long skirt stood for what seemed like eternity, holding a quilt against Jennifer's broken window to block the freezing wind—a living metaphor for Christ's sacrificial love that Jennifer still carries with her today.
For anyone navigating doubts or wondering if their ordinary life matters, Jennifer's story offers profound reassurance. The questions that once threatened her faith became the very path that led her to Christ. Her testimony reminds us that in a culture obsessed with the spectacular, quiet faithfulness on ordinary days is indeed holy ground.

What does it take to truly change a life marked by decades of addiction and incarceration? For Jamie, it was an encounter with Jesus in the most unexpected place – a jail cell where she faced a potential 27-year sentence.
In this raw and powerful conversation, Jamie takes us through her journey of repeated imprisonment that began at age 24. After a divorce left her questioning her identity as both a wife and mother of five, she turned to substances to numb the pain, setting off a nearly 20-year cycle of addiction, incarceration, brief periods of sobriety, and inevitable return to old patterns.
The turning point came in 2015 when, labeled a "habitual criminal" by the courts, Jamie received a surprising visit from her estranged daughter who made a simple request: "Mom, if you start praying and reading the Bible, I'll come back to see you." That promise – and the relationship it represented – sparked something profound. Through tears on her cell floor, Jamie cried out to a God she didn't know, beginning a transformation that would ultimately break the cycle that had defined her life.
Jamie's story challenges our assumptions about redemption and rehabilitation. She offers unique insights into prison culture, the process of becoming "institutionalized," and the overwhelming challenges of reintegration into society.
Today, Jamie works in ministry, has rebuilt relationships with all five of her children, and carries a special heart for those still incarcerated. Her testimony stands as living proof of 2 Corinthians 5:17: "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." Listen and discover how one person's belief – both human and divine – can change everything.

The differences between persecuted and comfortable Christianity create drastically different faith experiences, as Sunny reveals in this compelling continuation of our conversation in episode 99. Having lived and served in three different continents, Sunny offers rare insights into how comfort—while a blessing from God—can silently become our greatest spiritual danger.
"Comfort can be deadly because there is no dependency," Sunny explains, describing how Western believers often lose their sense of needing God when life feels complete on its own. This spiritual dynamic creates a thin line between remaining on fire for God amid blessing versus slipping into lukewarm faith. The solution? Surrender. "Even if there is no persecution, we can willfully lay all our crowns at the feet of Jesus."
Sunny then takes us inside the realities of Christian life in India, where persecution is intensifying. Services disrupted, pastors arrested, and anti-conversion laws enacted—yet remarkably, the church is growing stronger, bolder, and more united through these trials. Christians now occupy positions of influence across Indian society while maintaining deep humility within their faith communities.
Most provocatively, Sunny distinguishes between external persecution (from governments or other religions) and internal persecution (when believers fight among themselves). "Christianity is the only army that buries their soldiers alive," he observes, suggesting this internal division may be deadlier than any outside opposition.
For Western churches experiencing comfort, Sunny's message resonates as both challenge and hope: we don't need persecution to maintain spiritual fire, but we do need to recognize the subtle ways we've stopped transforming and started depending on our own efforts rather than God's power. This conversation invites us into authentic surrender—the key to thriving spiritually in any circumstance.

Sunny's journey from the brink of suicide to becoming a missionary in America will leave you breathless. Born into a broken Hindu family in India, he witnessed his mother's crippling depression, his father's alcoholism and financial ruin, and his sister's suicide attempts – all before he turned 18.
When his mother finally left as she had long threatened, Sunny found himself on a rooftop ready to end his life. In that desperate moment, he made one last plea: "Jesus, if you are alive, save me and my family." What happened next defies explanation – his childhood friend, with whom he'd had no contact for six years, suddenly appeared, explaining he felt inexplicably compelled to find Sunny at that exact moment.
This divine appointment led to a 40-minute encounter with Jesus that completely transformed Sunny without changing any of his external circumstances. The depression, hatred, and hopelessness that had defined his existence vanished, replaced by supernatural joy. Even more remarkably, his entire family eventually came to Christ – his mother emerged from depression, his parents reconciled, and his sister and brother-in-law (from a high-caste Brahmin family) embraced faith.
By 23, Sunny had planted his first church, beginning a ministry that would grow to include multiple congregations across India and South Africa. Now, following a vivid dream where he saw America bleeding and Jesus calling for healing, Sunny has brought his ministry to Denver, Colorado – arriving with nothing but faith and a conviction that "the comfortable church is more at risk than the persecuted church."
Don't miss our 100th episode next week on Easter Sunday featuring a special conversation with my husband Chris, my brother, and my brother-in-law. Then in two weeks, Sunny returns to share more about his mission to bring spiritual revival to America.

Faith and finances don't often mix in our conversations, but what happens when financial crisis forces you to completely redefine your relationship with money? Raychel's story will challenge everything you thought you knew about God's role in your financial life.
When a casual decision to take Financial Peace University collided with losing 85% of her family income through an unexpected layoff, Raychel faced a moment of truth. Should she hold tighter to her remaining resources or take the counterintuitive leap of faith to begin tithing? The answer changed everything.
Through Raychel's journey, we explore the transformation that happens when we shift from viewing tithing as a religious tax to seeing it as an act of worship and trust. Her story reveals how God often works outside the logic of spreadsheets and budgets – providing contract work that appeared seemingly out of nowhere, stretching time in impossible ways, and creating abundance that defies explanation.
Beyond the financial miracles, Raychel shares how learning to hear God's voice became central to her transformation. Those quiet nudges that seemed to come "out of left field" – guiding her to prioritize volunteering when work demands were overwhelming, prompting her to recognize her career as an unexpected stronghold – became the compass for navigating her new financial reality.
This conversation isn't just for those facing financial hardship. It's for anyone who's ever wondered if God cares about your bank account, your career decisions, or how you spend your time. Raychel's testimony reminds us that sometimes the most extraordinary provision comes when we finally surrender control of what we thought we couldn't afford to lose.
What area of your life is God asking you to release control over today? Your finances might just be the beginning.

Darcy reveals her journey as "God's problem child" in this deeply vulnerable conversation about finding faith through life's unexpected divine interventions. As a fifth-generation Iowa farmer and storyteller who grew up feeling like an outsider in church settings, Darcy shares three remarkable stories that challenged her skepticism and revealed God's presence in undeniable ways.
When her grandmother – alone and vulnerable at 80 years old – faced a home intruder intent on assault, a simple cry of "Help me, Jesus" inexplicably stopped the attack. Later, as a college student stranded on Interstate 80 without a cell phone, Darcy found rescue through strangers with unlikely connections to her tiny hometown who diverted hours from their route to help her. These "coincidences" planted seeds of faith that would blossom even as questions remained.
Most poignantly, Darcy shares how her father – equally resistant to church throughout his life – found faith in his final years through a pastor who faithfully visited him despite having no prior connection to her dad. This fulfilled her mother's lifelong prayer for her husband's salvation and demonstrated authentic Christian love that transcended institutional boundaries.
What makes this episode particularly powerful is Darcy's honesty about continuing to question even while recognizing divine intervention. Her perspective creates space for listeners who've felt alienated by religious environments yet remain spiritually curious. Through tears and laughter, she reminds us that God meets people where they are – whether through Scripture, kind strangers, or persistent pastors.
Whether you've felt like the "problem child" in your faith community or you're curious about how God works through ordinary circumstances, this conversation will leave you reconsidering the "coincidences" in your own life story. Subscribe now to hear more authentic faith journeys that might just change how you see your own.
My scotcheroos recipe: 🍽️
1 1/2 Cups white syrup
1 1/2 Cups white sugar
*Stir together and once it starts boiling cook only for 2 more minutes, then take off the stove.
Add 1 1/2 Cups creamy peanut butter and mix in until it’s all 1 consistency
Then add rice krispies. My recipe says 8 Cups, but I don’t think I use that much. I start with a small amount. I can always add more, but can’t take it out. I like the scotcheroos to still be a little creamy.
Put this into a 9x13 greased pan.
Frosting:
12 oz chocolate chips
6 oz butterscotch chips
*melt these 2 ingredients so it’s creamy & melted but not burned
Then add the frosting to the top of the scotcheroos
Let the frosting cool for a little while before cutting the scotcheroos, but don’t wait too long, as it will get very hard to cut when everything hardens. 🍫

What happens when a devout faith is tested by the appeal of nightlife and poor choices? Curtis, our guest on this episode of Ordinary People Extraordinary Things, knows the answer all too well. Growing up in a family deeply rooted in ministry, Curtis carried his strong faith through homeschooling to public high school, proudly wearing the label of "Jesus freak" despite the teasing. Through small decisions, the absence of his accountability partner, and a decision on his 21st birthday that spiraled into a night of chaos, he candidly recounts the hours lost in a haze, only to wake up to missing clothes and an unexpected confrontation with the law resulting in a 2nd degree murder charge.
But Curtis's story is one of redemption and spiritual awakening. Facing the darkness of a jail cell, he discovered forgiveness from God and a renewed purpose. Curtis shares how this pivotal moment transformed his understanding of grace, surrender, and the importance of sharing his journey to inspire others. Curtis's journey serves as a beacon of hope for those struggling with guilt and the fear of unforgiveness. Join us for a powerful testimony of hope, resilience, and the life-altering impact of true faith.

Do we gossip more than we share the gospel? Join me on a reflective journey as we confront the stark reality of our words. Are we known for uplifting others, or do our conversations often tear down those around us? This episode encourages deep self-examination, challenging us to consider whether our words align with the fruits of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. We'll uncover the significant harm caused by gossip, a seemingly innocuous habit, and contrast it with the life-giving power of sharing the gospel.

What if we could identify and dismantle the modern-day "high places" that hold us back from living balanced, meaningful lives? This episode takes a unique turn as we pause our usual guest interviews to reflect on a recurring theme from 2 Kings in the Old Testament. Nancy draws parallels between the ancient Israelites' struggle with idol worship and today's tendencies to either idolize or disparage ourselves and others. Through this lens, we challenge listeners to find a more balanced way of viewing our roles and the impact of our everyday actions.

“When the world gives you no hope whatsoever in a situation you have 2 options: you can completely turn away from God. Or you can say, The world gives me no hope, so I’m going to hang on to the one thing that will.” ~Amber Hayes
Navigating parenthood is often compared to embarking on an epic journey, filled with unexpected twists and turns. In our latest podcast episode, we delve into a family's extraordinary journey of love, resilience, and faith. Amber opens up about the challenges and triumphs of parenting, particularly in the face of a rare medical condition diagnosed in their son, Nolan.
One of the pivotal moments in the episode is Amber’s recounting of their journey to parenthood through IVF. The initial joy of becoming parents is soon overshadowed by the discovery of Nolan's condition, Ataxia Telangiectasiam, a rare and progressive neurological disorder. The uncertainty and anxiety that come with such a diagnosis are palpable, as the family navigates through a series of medical tests and consultations.
Faith plays a central role in this family's story. Amber discusses how their belief in God's promises provided a source of strength and peace amidst the chaos. Nolan's progress, from walking and playing sports to participating in American Ninja Warrior gym classes, is celebrated as a testament to God's faithfulness. The episode underscores that faith is not just a passive hope but an active, sustaining force that helps them face each day with courage and optimism.
Another profound theme explored in the episode is the concept of finding faith in uncertainty. Amber reflects on the difficulty of waiting for answers and the struggle of trusting in God's plan without knowing the future. This period of waiting has deepened their connection with Jesus and led to a greater reliance on God's word. They emphasize the importance of living in the moment and recognizing everyday miracles, no matter how small. This mindset shift, from seeking grand miracles to appreciating incremental progress, is a powerful lesson for anyone facing similar trials.
Throughout the episode, Amber’s story is a poignant reminder that while we may not have control over life's trials, we can choose how we respond to them. By focusing on faith, resilience, and the support of our community, we can navigate even the most daunting challenges with grace and strength.

Join us on a voyage through the heart's deepest chambers where familial bonds and faith take center stage. Lincoln's story unfolds like a tapestry woven with threads of anticipation and redemption; revealing the moment he disclosed an unplanned pregnancy to his devout parents and the embrace of grace that followed. The candid chronicle of Lincoln's navigation through relationships, parenting, and the intricate dance of open communication will resonate with many.
Through his experiences, we celebrate the courage it takes to expose our vulnerabilities and the wisdom that emerges from life's trials. So, come, gather 'round, and let's honor our personal narratives that, when shared, serve as beacons of hope and gateways to grace. Your story matters, and this conversation is a tribute to the extraordinary within the ordinary.

Have you ever sat down for a lunch that altered the trajectory of your life? Our guest Ann would answer with a resounding "yes," as she shares the unfolding of her remarkable journey from a simple meal to dedicating herself to the service of Haiti's most vulnerable. Ann's narrative is a stirring testament to the power of turning ordinary encounters into paths of profound change. Her annual pilgrimages to a Haitian village showcase the incredible difference one person's nurturing heart and steadfast spirit can make. From the joyous task of buying goods from local elders to the more complex endeavor of providing mattresses to orphanages, Ann's experiences are a beacon of hope, reflecting the immense ripple effect of kindness.
There's an unspoken challenge in Ann's tales: to remember gratitude amidst abundance and to seek fulfillment in lifting others. We are reminded that the comforts we often take for granted, like running water and household appliances, are luxuries in many parts of the world. Through Ann's passion and action, we witness the extraordinary impact that arises when we let our lives reflect a greater glory, encouraging all of us to spread kindness and build hope in our own corners of the world.

This episode is a call to action—a reminder to look beyond ourselves and our immediate circles, to extend kindness to strangers, and to recognize the humanity in everyone we meet. It is a prompt to practice compassion and to understand that, in doing so, we not only transform the lives of others but also ourselves.
In our fast-paced world, where time often feels like a scarce commodity, the episode also touches on the concept of divine intervention in our schedules. Nora discusses her belief that God can manipulate time, a notion that invites listeners to consider the role of spirituality in managing the demands of daily life. The takeaway is clear: our lives are not just about the tasks we complete but also about the relationships we nurture and the love we spread along the way.
The conversation gracefully transitions into the realm of hospitality. Hospitality is not confined to grand gestures; it is found in the simple act of making someone feel seen and valued, whether it's within the confines of a home or the casual encounters at a local store. In a world that often seems dominated by division and negativity, it is these acts of kindness and the intentional creation of a welcoming space that can sow the seeds of a more compassionate community.
The hope of this podcast is that our stories and insights will resonate with the listeners, inspiring them to carry the message of kindness, hospitality, and generosity forward in their own actions. This podcast episode is an exploration of the human condition and a testament to the transformative power of simple acts of kindness.

In a profoundly moving episode of the podcast "Ordinary People Extraordinary Things," we meet Laura Husband, whose life was irreversibly changed by the Columbia space shuttle disaster. Laura's narrative provides a candid and intimate examination of grief and the resilience that often goes unseen but is incredibly powerful. Her reflections on navigating this journey reveal a strong, unshakeable faith. 🧑🚀
As Laura recounts the tragic loss of her father, a NASA astronaut, when she was just 12 years old, listeners are drawn into the personal impact of a national heartbreak. This story transcends the public's shared sorrow, delving into the intimate struggles and the strength Laura harnessed through her faith. It challenges the listener to consider the deeper questions about existence that often trail in the wake of tragedy.🧑🚀
This episode goes beyond mere storytelling, providing an open discussion about the complex emotions of grief and the unanticipated intimacy with God that emerged. Nancy's story starts with her parents' tumultuous past, carrying a weight of generational pain, which she has learned to transmute into a source of strength and empathy. Her early years were marred by loss and the struggle to fit in, which led her down a path fraught with poor choices and pain. However, it was through this darkness that Nancy's determination, once seen as stubbornness, emerged as an unshakeable faith.
As Nancy recounts her journey of faith and redemption, it's evident that spiritual transformation can be profound and life-altering. Her spontaneous decision to join the Navy became a pivot point, leading her to cross paths with individuals who would influence her faith, and serve as a catalyst for her to embrace Christianity, forever changing the trajectory of her life.
The narrative then transitions into the beautiful, albeit imperfect, love story between Nancy and Myron Stevenson. From a whirlwind romance to the struggles of marriage compounded by personal baggage, their commitment to each other and their faith is profoundly moving. It's a narrative that reinforces the belief that through faith, hope, and a willingness to face one's past, redemption and healing are possible. The power of vulnerability in relationships is a thread that runs throughout the episode, emphasizing the importance of openness and communication in building strong, resilient bonds.
Lastly, Nancy's story is a call to embrace life's challenges with gratitude. The idea that we should continuously seek new learning experiences and growth opportunities, regardless of our age, is both inspiring and motivating. This chapter of the episode is a powerful reminder that life's lessons come in many forms and that recognizing and appreciating them is a form of wisdom.
This episode is more than just a recounting of events; it's a celebration of life's trials and triumphs. It serves as an encouragement to anyone who might find themselves in the throes of hardship or despair. Nancy's story provides hope and serves as a beacon to guide others through their own darkness.
Through Nancy's narrative, listeners are invited to reflect on their own lives, to find strength in their struggles, and to seek joy in serving others. It is a call to action to live a life that is kind and full of gratitude, one that honors the past while looking forward to a future filled with promise. This podcast episode is not just a story to be heard but an experience to be felt and a journey to be shared.

I have been wanting to do this topic for years & here it is!
We tackle some hard, good questions in this episode…
❓Why are people afraid of death?
❓What lessons have you learned from being a hospice chaplain?
❓Why does God allow suffering?
Joe is an eloquent speaker & has so much knowledge to share - here’s just a few things you’ll hear:
🗣️“Part of what we do in hospice is try to normalize the dying process as being mortal. It’s something that’s going to happen, so how can I embrace it rather than run from it.”
🗣️“This is a sacred journey - it’s very holy work.”
🗣️“The roads people have been down - you never know until you get to know them & talk to them.”
🗣️“Every single one of these people are a child of God. They are a unique creation. They have had an entire journey.”
🗣️“Dying is their space between heaven & earth.”
🗣️“A lesson I’ve learned is to really, really love people’s stories.”

Honestly when I was introduced to Dawn & what she would share on the podcast I thought, YUCK - I don’t want to talk about this! This doesn’t apply to me. Can’t we talk about anything else that’s not so hard & dark?
But, I learned from Dawn “Fentanyl is an epidemic that is impacting every area of our community. It is a human problem.
Fentanyl is in 7 out of 10 street pills.”
The world is talking about it - we must talk about it in faith & hope.
“Being willing to listen & how can I understand what’s happening around us.
Perhaps you could be a small part of the solution.” ~Dawn

We go back over to the scripture that talks about: 'we can plant the seeds, we can water the seeds, but it is only God who gives the growth.'
We keep trusting God - if He’s stirring this in our hearts, He’s also stirring in the people we’re going to serve."

Stories shared by guests may not always be shared views of OPET.
Being a guest does not mean OPET approves of every decision or action in the guests' life.
We all have a story, all of us, share your story. You don't have to have the perfect answer or the perfect life - share what Jesus is doing in your life. This is an easy, real way to witness & share your testimony.
➡️ Jeseray is a fantastic storyteller - you will go through the emotions with her as she takes you on the 40+ year journey to find her brother.
➡️ “My mom was very open that she was not able to give him the life she wanted, so he was put up for adoption.
I tried looking for him - I couldn’t find him.
I would try, wouldn’t get anywhere, and would give up.
Maybe he’s not even alive. Maybe he doesn’t want to be found. Maybe I’m not meant to find my brother. I had this very strong moment - it’s ok if I don’t find my brother.
Then began the waiting process….
That shock is real. This is my brother - this is my brother! I never thought I would find my brother!
You’re real. You’re here. This is not a moment I ever thought I would get.
Grateful is the easiest word to use - but doesn’t even begin to describe it.”
➡️ “I think one of the hardest things was - because I did have a traumatic relationship with my mom for a lot of my adult life, even after I got through the grief of her passing. My mom isn’t someone I look up to. My mom isn’t someone I model my parenting after. When his mom said, “We prayed and are thankful fo your mom every day.” That was hard. That was hard to hear someone say, “We loved your mom, we prayed for your mom, we’re thankful for her, and we’re so blessed by her.” Because that’s not the experience I got. It really changed my view of my mom. It made me dig deeper. It made me appreciate her a little more.”

💬 “I prayed to God: I wanted His will to be done, which is super hard knowing His will might not be your will.”
💬 “Time doesn’t make it better. Better is not the right word. It becomes a part of your everyday life. You learn to move around it.”
💬 “I try to let Him be the one running the show - but it’s really hard.”

It’s been a year and a half since Noble was on the podcast & a lot has happened - listen to get an update on how Noble is doing!
Our #1 listened to episode…here it is…Noble was 16 when he sustained a spinal cord injury that instantly changed his life from an ordinary, cross country running, teenager to a quadriplegic. 🏃
🏃♂️ “This isn’t just about me - it’s about everyone. If I give up who’s going to give up, because they saw me give up.”
🏃♂️ “Let’s change the world - lets fulfill God’s plan that He has for us.”
🏃♂️ “God says this battle is already won!”

🙏“People I never even met at church came up & said, “we’re praying for you & your daughter.””
🙏 “That’s when I changed how I prayed to God. Instead of, please don’t let it be this, it was, whatever this is, I know You have a plan. I know You know what it is. I need You to give me the strength & guidance to deal with this.”
🙏 “There’s always a belief in prayer & the power of prayer & it’s hard to trust in that - does it work? I lived that. I do believe in prayer.”
NOW…
❤️ “If I say yes to things I ask, is that brining value or am I saying yes because it’s what I’ve always done & been the one to help.”
❤️ “I have witnessed the power of prayer, so I’m going to return that. Maybe my one, little prayer will help.”

As well as what it means to walk with people in their struggle.
“It’s not about me. It’s who are You going to put in my path today. One conversation, one email, one card you write. We overthink these big, dramatic things, & I think it’s the commutative effect of little things that will leave a lasting legacy of a life well lived.”

Have you ever struggled with self-care:
-What it is
-How to do it
-What actually fills you up
-What the Bible says about it?
If so, this podcast is for you!
Here’s a little glimpse of what Brit shares…
“Why do we need self-care? How did we get to the exhaustion point?
Am I worried about things I shouldn’t be worried about? What is the root cause of this?
Many times the root case is an identity or trust issue.
And a pedicure is not going to cure that. Get a pedicure, but it may not fill you the way you need to be filled.
When I’m still for a while and really sit with the Lord - that has filled me up in a way nothing else can.”
A few Bible verses we mention about self-care
Luke 6:12
Luke 5:16
John 6:15
Mark 3:7-9

Angelia truly lives her life for Jesus
“Sometimes we don’t get to see the increase of the seeds that have been planted in others’ lives, but I believe God gets the increase if we keep doing what He said for us to do. That’s the blessing. That’s the Peace that passes all understanding & the Joy that you can’t explain. It’s given to you - not on your works, but about your Love & your Will to be keep being His Hands & Feet.”
If you’re asking the Question: What does God want me to do?
- “Do something - Do something!”
- “Once you start planting those seeds it’s hard to stop doing it.”
- “We look at what we’re giving, instead of looking at what we’re getting.”
Why is the church in America declining?
- “We want to be people pleasers instead of God pleasers.”
- “People are going to speak positive or negative. If you’re a people pleasing person, you can never please everyone.”
- “Serve like the Word says to serve.”
* “I’m grateful that I get to lift up the name of Jesus & I get to share my faith &* hope* with others. There’s no greater reward than that.”

Megan & Christian Miller have 6 biological children, 2 children adopted internationally, & welcomed 30 kids into their home through foster care.
I’ve had it on my heart to do a podcast about fostering for 9 months & hit obstacle after obstacle.
Can’t wait to see what God does through Megan’s story…
💜 “Anybody can do it. Some people aren’t called to foster, but you can help a foster parent, & you’re still taking care of the fatherless.”
💜 "I’m not a saint - I’m just doing what I’m called to do.”
💜 "15 years ago I would have said, “I’m not fostering.””
💜 "God can do so many things, if you just open your heart up to it.”
💜 "Had we not fostered, we would never have had the additional family we call our own.”
💥 “It’s not like we were created to live lavish vacations & lifestyles & live on cruise ships.
No, we are here to disciple, love, & plant the foundation & seeds for our children & people.”

Praise, Surrender, & Trust through Suffering with Elissa Hanneman
Elissa lives with Vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrom (vEDS): sudden death may occur at any time.
She will inspire you…
🙏 “It’s because our life has not been easy, that we really have gotten to see God show up.”
🙏 “If I could touch people & have them feel the way I feel for Jesus, the love that I have, the way God has shown up for me. It does something for your soul when you know who your creator is. He made us, and He has a plan. I don’t always understand, but I know I can trust Him. I know that His plan is a good plan, even in the hard stuff.”
For 2 full years she was in the hospital & has had over 60 surgeries!!🏥
🙏 “We’ve learned so much through suffering. Our world discredits suffering. For me, in the suffering, in the times I don’t know what I’m going to do - that’s when I’ve felt closer to God than any other time.”
🙏 “When you have something like this, it’s required me to be at the foot of the cross - Every Day. He has been so faithful.”
🙏“God does the miraculous! He is doing miracles in 2023!”

Bridgette is the sister of famous actors Candace Cameron Bure & Kirk Cameron.
- We talk about what happens when God makes you wait for your dreams to come true.
- How does it feel when someone you love gets the job you want?
Bridgette candidly talks about waiting on God’s calling & purpose.
🎭 “God started my story when I was a little girl, back when I was told ‘No’ by the Hollywood agent.”
🎭 “There were so many years growing up that I’d watch Kirk & Candace - their careers grow, working, & doing all the things I wanted to do, and there was a part of me that was jealous. There was a part that was angry.
My siblings & I are very, very close. We have a very wonderful, wonderful relationship.
But why did they get it & not me?”
On the day of a tragic car accident Bridgette felt God saying to her… 🚗
“Bridgette, all those years that you wondered and questioned - why haven’t I used you - why haven’t I used your gifts? Why did you forget about me?
God said…I’ve never forgotten about you. I’ve given you your gifts & talents. I have plans for you. You have to trust me that in my timing, my timing is perfect, and I will use you, but you need to trust me.”

Crystal gets real, very real, about the ⬆️highs & lows⬇️ of adoption.
Crystal & Nick have 3 biological children and 1 adopted daughter, Guyana, who was born with spina bifida (& a few other medical challenges) that require full-time medical care.
This episode is packed, so buckle up! Here’s a few things you’ll hear…
💭“I knew from the moment I saw her photo that I knew, that I knew, that I knew, that I knew. I knew she was meant to be our daughter.”
💭”There’s a lot of heartbreak. Guyana rejected us when she first met us. It was a spiritual battle.”
💭”It is hard, and you will regret adopting multiple times.”
💭”There are definite challenges, but again I would do it a thousand times over. I’m absolutely 100% open to adopting again.”
💭”Anything worth doing is going to be incredibly difficult.”
💭“People call us saints on a regular basis, which we are so far not, but I think the reason they do that is they can easily dismiss the idea of adoption for themselves.”
💭“The love is all encompassing. When you make a choice to love a child that you did not give birth to, you are reflecting the love of the father who has chosen to love you with His everything.

You’re going to love the lyrics & beat to “Anyway” a song Emily Hope wrote & sings. 🎵
Emily shared, ““Anyway” is a call for repentance. He loves us despite all of our flaws & all the times we mess up. God is angry with His peoples’ sins, but there’s so much hope & joy in the fact that he loves us anyway.”
You can buy Emily’s music on Apple Music & Amazon Music or stream for free on Spotify & YouTube.

💭Does God still speak to people through dreams and visions?
💭This podcast answers that question.
💭Do more people see God this way but are afraid to share?
Through capturing hundreds of stories I have learned that some of the best stories come after you think you’re done - so keep the audio rolling to capture what comes next.
➡️This episode is exactly that. We had just finished recording Michael McKnight’s episode 20: “Addiction & Homelessness DON’T have the Final Word” & Michael vulnerably shared about visions & dreams God showed him throughout his life.

While writing her first book, Keeping Up with God, Donnetta overcame extreme obstacles, including the death of her dad & husband in a 6 month period.
She also received "miracle upon miracle" during the process of finishing the book about Connie Zimmerman, who started Colorado Homeless Families.
“Writing Connie’s story helped my faith grow.”
“What I thought was a detour actually wound up being part of the path.”
Waiting, waiting, waiting - it took 4 years to write the book. 📖
“So much of what He wants us to do is 90% preparation. And then He opens the gate, and we get to run - we get to run this race.”

I put this podcast off for a year - because I don’t want to be a further hinderance on this hard, dark subject.
However, this is a REAL issue facing our world…
“Suicide is a major concern in the U.S. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, suicide was among the top nine leading causes of death for people ages 10–64 and the second leading cause of death for people ages 10–14 and 25–34.” From the Mayo Clinic website
We can’t skirt away from what’s going on; we must put God, hope, & love into these hard subjects.
Kelsey very bravely shares her story of an attempted suicide in 2018 - it truly is a story of hope.

Diana brings it in this podcast - here is a little of what you’ll hear…
🏃♀️”If God is clearly telling me to do something, I’m going to take that step of faith.”
🎁”What are you gifted in? What are our strengths? What is your passion? How can you use it for God’s glory & what’s the next step?”
🟢”We think we have to have it all figured out - well if we have it all figured out - what glory is that to God?”
🚦”Go make a move! I dare you! Go make a move!”
🏃♀️”When we follow Jesus there is a true call to follow Him. There’s also a cost- people don’t want to talk about that as much, but there is a necessity to lay down things that no longer serve us.”
🗣”We’ve got to get serious about learning the voice of God.”
🚦”Let’s go! Stop waiting for other people to do it - let’s go!”
🌎 “We have a hurting world that is ready for people to love on them.”
🗣”God’s voice is never going to take us to our own comfort and ease. God’s voice is always going to stretch us.”
🏃♀️”In Jewish tradition to hear something is not simply to listen, mull it over in your head, and see what happens - to hear the voice of God & be impacted doesn’t happen until it’s walked out.”
🏃♀️”What do you need to do in order to walk it out? It comes true as you’re doing it - not as you’re thinking about it.”
❤️”Do something & learn more about who our God is.”

One of my favorite parts about Christmas is Christmas songs & here's one you're going to love. ❤️
🕯"Light of the World" by terce.
Written by: Aggie Kopp, Lilly Kopp, & Risa Kopp
Solo: Risa Kopp
Background Vocals: Lilly Kopp
I asked the Kopp's why they wrote this song...🎵
"We originally wrote it intending it to be a Christmas song. The premise was imagining how “dark” it was at the beginning of creation, how “dark” it was in the world before Christ came, and how “dark” it is now. Jesus is the Light of the World. He breathes life into us, so we are the lights in the world."
Enjoy the song & Merry Christmas!🎄

Diana speaks openly & honestly about how you she lived with “Big A” Anxiety for 8 years & what brought her out of it.
For a long time she let herself believe she could overcome this on her own & that Christians shouldn't struggle with such fear. And the layers of shame piled on.
💥But….“WOW! The healing that comes from putting things out in the open!”
And not going at it alone!
“It was God’s kindness that brought me out of it!” ~Diana❤️
If you don’t struggle with “Big A” Anxiety, Diana still has some words of encouragement for keeping “little a” Anxiety away during the holidays.
“The best antidote to “little a” Anxiety is Gratitude & Kindness!”~Diana ❤️

So many of you were inspired by Noble’s story in episode
#16 Encouragement & Inspiration through Any Battle with quadriplegic Noble Haskell
Today we get to hear from his mom, Krisi Hantke
What I find so interesting is verses like …. “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” ~Philippians 4:7
Are Real, Are True, but
How? How could you be at peace? You shouldn’t be at peace at all when you find out your son broke his neck.
You will be blessed by this episode…🎤
🏃♂️”Get to church. Ask the Questions. Read the Bible, Dig in so that you have that foundation, because the storms will come.”
🏃♂️“You have to know, without a shadow of a doubt, what you believe in.”
🏃♂️”Words of encouragement are what carried me.”

Thoughts from this episode…
🗯”The world has sucked since the fall of man. This is where glory & sin at its fullness exist.” ~Andrew

🗯”What does the Word say that you are?” ~Kylie
🗯”We’ve all got a job to do!” ~Kylie
🗯”She is here for just a time as this. I am here for just a time as this. No one else can do what I can do. No one else can do what he can. Sweet, 17 year old girl, you have a job to do. You have something to do that I can’t do.”~Kylie

+ ”There’s this expectation I had that God would show up in the way I wanted Him to, because I was doing what He asked us to do. Not to say God didn’t show up, but it wasn’t how I expected Him to show up.”
The reality of Laney being placed with a new family…
+ “It’s a form of grief…We question - why did it have to turn out this way.”
“Now I can also look back and think - I do not regret that we obeyed God in this difficult decision, even though it didn’t turn out the way we thought it should.”
”There was a lot of shame involved, which is not from God, but it does make you question why things are the way they are.”
**My prayer through this podcast is that you will answer God’s call on your life and give Him your expectations.

“This is a part of my story, but it is not who I am.” ~Holly
It’s a dark, sad subject, but it’s happening and to not talk about it may make it worse. We are not going into the nitty-gritty. This podcast is still about hope and bringing this darkness into the light.
This is a part of the world we live in, but God is so much bigger, and when we have hope in Him, we can have hope for any of the crazy, scary things going on in our world.
“My hope is that people do start to have more of these conversations, so that we are able to recognize this when we see it around us.” ~Holly
In our interview we talked about Covered: Empowering Colorado’s sex trafficking survivors with the resources and skills they need to experience a future filled with hope.

Darlene Male joins me for this fun podcast retelling why I started "Ordinary People Extraordinary Things."
“I have never witnessed God speak to someone so clearly.” ~Darlene
God had been placing it on my heart to share stories of faith, but I kept saying no. My excuse was that I didn’t have time, but what was more frightening was failing.
God gave me a HUGE ahhha moment where He spoke so clearly to me using a Women’s Conference and guest speaker Alli Worthington.
For this miracle to take place many people had to be obedient, including what God was placing on Alli's heart to say from the stage.
I am grateful to share this story with you and pray it ignites in you, your calling.

Judy shares about the heart-wrench of attending church without your spouse, and the community she started to fill a need and help others in the same situation.
Judy was listening to "Ordinary People Extraordinary Things" and was brave enough to contact me and say, “I may have a story to share on your podcast.”
My hope is that you’ll see a need in the church and have the encouragement to fill that need.
Here’s a sneak peek of what you’ll hear from Judy…
“What I see is that people typically go to people they know during a service, and they don’t go to people they don’t know, and they might be the people who are there for the first time or need encouragement or a friendly face.”
“It’s my desire to show my husband Jesus by my actions.”
“No husband bashing.”

Are you on a homeschooling journey…
~A seasoned pro?
~New to homeschooling?
~Thinking about homeschooling?
Terri shares her wisdom of homeschooling 4 boys for 20 years.
Here’s just a few insights you’ll hear from Terri in this episode…
~ "Homeschooling is probably not for everyone, but we certainly want everyone to realize that God really teaches in the Bible He expects parents to be teaching their children. That doesn't mean that it's everything, but if your kids are in school somewhere realize you have a giant role in teaching them."
~ "If something doesn't work - it is ok to change."
~ “Realize you don’t have to be good at everything.”

Have you ever had questions about prayer…
Here’s just a few quotes you’ll hear from Tracey in this episode…
~ “I think a lot of people are intimidated by prayer, and you shouldn’t be, because it’s just like sitting down with a friend.”
~ “Really that’s what God wants to be in our lives is our best friend.”
~ “In prayer you can be vulnerable. You can be transparent.”
~ “You have the relationship with the Lord that you want.”
~ “Once you start praying the more you do it the more comfortable you become.”
~ “Don’t give up. Never give up praying.”
~ “We all need to stop and think what can I be thankful for today, because there’s always something you can be thankful for.”

This episode is jam packed with information about how to care for others. Take something Tim said and make an impact on the world. Maybe it’s actually seeing someone or making them feel known. Maybe it’s changing your questions to people. Apply it to share the redeeming love we have.
Here’s just a glimpse of what you will hear from Tim….
+ “One of the best ways to love and encourage someone is to listen and to show you’re interested in them.”
“People don’t care how much or what you know or what you can get them, until they know you care about them.”
“People are created and wired to go through life in community.”
“It feels good to be helpful and useful, but it also is the root of lots of trouble. If I start to make the really terrible assumption or belief, that’s not true, of that was me as opposed to that was God, who happened to use me.”
“What a great message to tell anyone who is hurting: you are loved, you are seen, you are cared for, you are super important to God and to me.”
“Lord, help me to love people today.”

In this Christmas season of busyness we’re talking about how to find silence & listen to God’s voice in the quiet.
Here are a few quotes from this powerful episode with Megan...
“The ability to slow yourself down, I think, is something we have lost and continually to lose in our culture that’s so crowded with background noise.”
“When there’s not background noise & I am able to calm myself down & find those quiet spaces I really find that’s when I can actually hear what God has to say or pushing or pulling me to.”
“When I’m sitting in nature I really do find it a lot easier to look at what God has created and not feel the need to fill that time with anything else.”
I hope you are able to implement one of the ideas Megan shared about quietness and journaling.
We're all looking for huge miracles in our life, but if we start looking for miracles every day, it will impact our life and faith.
My neighbor & friend, Rosanne, shares a Thanksgiving miracle.
The miracle started with generosity to others.
"I love people. When I see people I see a reflection of God." ~Rosanne
Learn how Rosanne's kindness impacted me.
Today I get to feature an original song by Bradley Goodin. I hope after listening to this song you will have a little deeper understanding of how much God loves you.

“The idea for this hymn came to me in 2018 when I was starting to prep for Christmas Eve services at church. I was struck by the fact that we will never be able to fully understand God's love for us. In a culture where we are a google away from most any information we want to know, not being able to fully comprehend the simplicity and extravagance of God's love can be unsettling. It can be something that fuels our understanding of His holiness, that is, how He is set apart. We can only understand the tip of the iceberg, yet we have all of eternity to explore the depths of His compassion for us. In "O Mystery of Love Divine," I try to put that mystery into words by pinpointing hallmark moments in the gospel story that are beyond comprehension: God creating the universe with words, God becoming human, Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, Jesus' resurrection and invitation for salvation.” ~Bradley

“I didn’t give myself the space for anger.” ~Kay
Kay also talks about her heart for HAVEN & the calling God puts on all of our hearts.
“It doesn’t matter if I’m worthy of that calling, or if I have doubt or fear. I’m worthy, because He is enough and therefore I am enough.” ~Kay
