The Lazy Keto Mum Podcast: Recent Episodes

Emma Martin

Support, tips and learning about Keto and Low Carb Lifestyles. Real food and impactful nutrition from a Nutritionist and Qualified Keto Coach. ************* Emma Martin (the lazy keto mum) is a relatable and enthusiastic Keto and Low Carb lifestyle Nutritionist and Coach. She believes in real food and impactful nutrition, and in 2021 published her first best selling book - The F Word - Confessions of a Cheesecake Lover. Small Changes for Extraordinary Results Using Keto and Low Carb. She passionately teaches how to stop the food hunts, kick cravings to the curb, and guides through the mistruths about food that you've been fed. Emma's enthusiasm comes from a transformational personal experience 4 years ago. After hearing a friend rave about keto and how amazing she felt, she skeptically tried it, naturally assuming she was going to die a nasty fat-clogged death. Very quickly, she felt her fog lift, her cravings cease, she was bouncing out of bed - and the food was delicious. As a direct result of these changes, she and her daughter (who also follows a keto lifestyle) saw a much improved relationship, and while shrinking her waistline, simultaneously improving her health, cravings, skin, sleep, mood and energy, she became very passionate about helping so many others in return. Emma became curious about where we went so very wrong with our food, and why the majority of us still struggle. In her book she explains why and how to get off the diet roller coaster, for good. Her book quickly became an Amazon best-seller and is a collection of relatable stories, simple recipes, hints and tips to help you start and elevate your keto lifestyle. Emma also runs 6 week coaching courses for keto/low carb - suitable for everyone from novices, all the way through to experienced keto fans. She helps people learn about the hidden keys and how to healthily lose fat, break plateaus and amp results. For more information: https://msha.ke/emmamartin/

Join Emma as she speaks to Dental Researcher Dr Sarah Hancock about the link between metabolic health and dental caries.

I find it absolutely fascinating that my dental health before I found low carb eating was directly related to the health of my immune system and inflammation in my system. Teeth need to be nourished from the inside too!!

Is brushing our teeth the only thing that impacts dental health?

In this episode we discuss:

  • Real food vs processed food.
  • The effect of inflammation and tooth health
  • Why we believe that brushing teeth is all it takes to maintain good oral hygiene.
  • How this set of beliefs came to be
  • How ph content of our food affects our dental caries (cavities)
  • The phenomenal cost of dental care to our societies

This episode Emma speaks to Nutrition Coach, Educator and Published Author, Kerry Coleman about how to feed your family for optimal health and speaks about some ways you can feed your family to improve behaviour and kids focus at school.

www.kerrycoleman.com.au

Kerry has a long standing interest in nutrition and its impact on child development, behaviour and learning. She believes all of us do best on a diet of mostly whole foods but know that many children can be resistant to eating 'healthy' food, especially if they have become used to eating a lot of processed foods.

Parents are first educators of their children and can make a huge difference to the way their brains develop from their very earliest days - even before they are born! In her book she shares some of the simple things you can do to support your children to give them the best start in life, often using things you already have at home.

Taking care of you is really important as well. Being a parent is exhausting and relentless and it is easy to feel overwhelmed and lonely in the midst of it all. It can be even more challenging if you're not sure that you are doing the 'right' thing or making things worse. There is no such thing as a perfect parent. We all make mistakes. Neither are there perfect children or perfect teachers! We are all human beings trying very hard to have our needs met. As parents you need support and I hope this will be a place where you will find that in spades. Kerry's advice is so very useful for all ages
