About the Guest:
As founder and managing director at rundzwei Architekten, Marc is involved in all projects. He is responsible for the success of each project under his direct management. He represents the office in front of clients and is a guest lecturer at higher education institutions where he presents rundzwei ideas and concepts. Marc is also a regular part of the competition jury for international architectural competitions.
Before founding rundzwei Architekten, Marc Dufour-Feronce was project manager for ACME in London where he signed responsible for various projects in Germany and the Middle East. Before that he was design architect for the Dubai based Lab architecture studio and worked on a variety of museum projects. In Berlin he worked at the architectural office Phaseeins, where he joint as assistant to the project management on international competitions. He finished his studies at the Technical University (TU) in Berlin with a diploma.
Although he is a native Berliner he speaks fluent English and is familiar with the culture and customs of the Middle East.

At 19, he found his way to architecture, a suitable mix of art and technology. Johan studied architecture at Lund University and had a breakthrough with his first significant house, Villa Bergman-Werntoft, designed during his final year at school and built in Ljunghusen in southern Sweden.
After this first success, Johan received commissions for several more houses. The office can now showcase an impressive portfolio, with most homes in Skåne and southern Sweden built close to nature and driven by a distinct architectural language. The office has also designed apartments and office environments and created Andrum, a peaceful, elegant spa facility in the town of Höör. The office’s approach always starts from the experience;
“We work from a total effect of the architectural tools, an emotional response, not an artificial order,” says Johan. “It’s about human needs and atmospheres.”

Today's question is: “Do you work when you go on vacation? Or do you unplug completely?”
In this episode, I share how I transitioned from constantly inserting work during vacations to truly enjoying my time off. It’s not easy to completely unplug, but here’s what I did to be more present and enjoy rest without guilt:
🏖️ I became more proactive than reactive, planning ahead to ensure smooth operations.
✈️ I inform my team well in advance about my vacation, setting clear expectations.
📧 I set up an automated email response to manage client and team communications.
👥 I delegate responsibilities to my core management team, trusting them to handle things.
💻 When I can't resist checking into some urgent work, I limit myself to an hour to align with my team. It's okay to give in occasionally; a few minutes for peace of mind won't hurt!

Happy International Women’s Month!
As we kick off this new month, I want to share some bittersweet news — today marks the final episode of Architect My Life (AML) – a women in architecture podcast.
During the pandemic, I launched this podcast to support women balancing work, family, and business from home. Over time, it grew into a platform highlighting incredible women who inspire us all to be our best.
Recording this last episode stirred up a mix of emotions for me. AML started as a passion project but grew into something far more impactful and opened doors to unexpected opportunities.
The past three years with AML have also been a journey of growth and development for me. I've grown alongside the community that has supported me from the beginning. This led me to understand that now is the right time to transition — and I’m so excited to tell you what's coming next!
So, the end of this podcast simply means that I'll be coming back with even better ideas and tools to "step up." Because like you, I'm always seeking growth and learning, and there's no better way to do that than together. We'll keep you posted on this transition, so be sure to follow our socials to stay updated.

Suzanne (Suzie) Hunt LFRAIA RIBA is a registered Architect and Principal of Suzanne Hunt Architect, an award-winning architectural and interior design practice. She graduated with Honours from Curtin University in 1986 and gained valuable experience in boutique and large-scale practices in London.
In 2004, she founded Suzanne Hunt Architect (SHA) due to limited part-time opportunities in larger firms, starting from her bedroom and growing into a fully-fledged office in 2016. SHA is recognized for residential, hospitality, and local government projects, including award-winning refurbishments like Leeuwin Estate Winery.
Suzie served on the Rottnest Island Authority Board, Legal Practice Board of WA, and chairs the Curtin Architecture Advisory Board. Elected President of the Australian Institute of Architects WA Chapter in 2017, Suzie advocates for gender equity and mentors through initiatives like #WorkWomenWisdom.
Since 2017, she has been a TV presenter for MWC Australia By Design on Channel 10, receiving accolades such as the 2021 Paula Whitman Prize for Gender Equity and the 2022 WA Architects Board Award. In 2023, she was honored with Life Fellowship of the Australian Institute of Architects.

She started her career with an environmentally-focused design and construct company, where she developed a respect for the environment and a passion for creating homes. In 2011, Shannon established her practice, The Mill: Architecture + Design, with Interior Designer Sarah Welsh. She has a proven track record of designing climate-responsive housing and supporting commercial clients in creating human-centric work environments.
Shannon has been actively involved with the Australian Institute of Architects since 2012. She has served as a Juror, Councillor, Chair of the Sustainability Committee, and Chapter President. Currently, she is the Institute's National President (2022-2023) and a Director on the Board. Shannon has also chaired national awards juries, including the prestigious Gold Medal. She has received recognition for her work, including the American Institute of Architects' President's Medal in 2022.
In addition to her professional contributions, Shannon volunteers her time to promote the benefits of good architecture in cities. She enjoys public speaking, writing for various publications, architectural photography, and participating in events that promote good design to the public.
