Take a Wander with Shebs: Recent Episodes

Shebs Alom

My successful YouTube show, 'Take a Wander with Shebs,' is now ready to be listened to in audio format. The show features some of the biggest names from the world of travel. Each show aims to take my guests on a wander and uncover topics that may not be discussed on their platform or media. Whether that's the state of travel blogging and journalism as it is today. Or whether there is enough diversity within the sector. Perhaps what impact technology and social media have had on the industry. Or, in general, the impact of current affairs on the business.

I also try to find out the journey behind each individual's success, as this is more important to me than the actual travel.

Get ready to be inspired and Take a Wander with Shebs!

Where is Macao? I had the pleasure of travelling around this region, a SAR of China, exploring the city's unique blend of cultures, showcasing both its Las Vegas-like Cotai Strip and its historic Portuguese and Chinese influences.

You'll see some of the city's most famous sights, including the replica of the Eiffel Tower and Big Ben, and learn about the city's economy, which is driven by its booming casino industry. You'll also understand transportation, and I'll highlight some must-try local food, such as Portuguese egg tarts and African Chicken.

Led by parents Rob (an ex-Olympic rower) and Rachel (a twice gold medal winner at the World Triathlon Championships) Hamill, The Cruising Kiwis, along with their three boys, Finn, Declan, and Ivan, have an unusual and poignant story, which really sets them apart from other families who have broken free of the rat race to sail around the world.

Back in the mid-1970s, Rob's eldest brother, Kerry, set off in his 28-foot sailing boat to sail from Australia up to SE Asia. In 1978, while cruising off the coast of Cambodia, he and his crewmate were captured by the Khmer Rouge Navy, imprisoned, interrogated, and tortured, which ended with them being executed, after signing false confessions that they were CIA operatives.

This tragic backstory led the family to decide to retrace Kerry's journey and document it on their YouTube channel.

This interview tells you all you need to know.

This is a special landmark episode, as it's the 100th show! I felt it fitting for Travel Host and entrepreneur Paris Norriss to speak to me on this special episode about his recent expedition rowing across the Pacific Ocean.

Paris has been on the show previously (https://youtu.be/pDteFs8p9go), where you talked to me about the beginning of his journey and how he made his show, Guy in Dubai, a huge hit.

In this episode, Paris talked to me about how he completed the biggest adventure of his life when he successfully rowed 4,800km across the Pacific Ocean.

Only 82 people in history had ever attempted to row the world’s largest ocean, and it took him and his team 39 days of battling through two storms, 40ft waves and strange encounters with mysterious marine life to complete this journey.

I spoke to him about the reason why he wanted to do this and what was the purpose. We also delved into whether he documented this on film or not. And what did he learn from it?

We also discussed what is next for him.

It's a fascinating discussion, and it's so great to have Paris as my 100th episode of the podcast.

You can also watch the episode on my YouTube channel (https://youtu.be/dHyN66ql_e4). For people with hearing impairment, subtitles are available on YouTube.

In this episode, I spoke to writer, photographer, Podcaster, and educator, Jeremy Bassetti. Our discussion was based on his upcoming book, The Hill of the Skull.

We delve into the book, a 7,000-word travel memoir and 50 photographs from his visit or, as Jeremy puts it in the interview, pilgrimage to a sacred mountain in Bolivia. I go into why he also wanted to write this book and what the significance was.

Jeremy discusses crowdfunding his book on Kickstarter from September 25 until October 26 2023. The direct link is: https://jeremybassetti.com/skull

It also includes an afterword by the celebrated author Pico Iyer and a printed dialogue between Jeremy and the award-winning British photographer Alys Tomlinson on the subject of craft, photography, and project-based work.

In this episode, I spoke with award-winning author and journalist, Tharik Hussain. We discussed how Tharik journeyed to discover Muslim Europe, why he decided to write his book, Minarets in the Mountains, and what significance the book would have for the Muslim community and society.

We both discussed our Bangladeshi roots and went into detail about what it was like to grow up in the U.K. and travel to Bangladesh for the first time. What impact did it have on Tharik?

We discuss what the World Cup in Qatar in 2022 has done for the Arab Muslim world regarding tourism. Did it get fair coverage? Was the criticism justified?

We discuss Ramadan's importance, what it's like to travel during the holy month and the significance for a travel professional to fast during the month and work.

Tharik also discussed what's on the agenda next for him.

Feed your soul with Spiritual Adventure

In this episode, I talked to an adventure designer and certified tour guide from Duruimity, Costa Rica, Mari Jiménez. Mari and I discussed various topics about how she has journeyed to the point of today.

Mari realised she wanted to be in nature while studying at University. We went into detail about how she made a breakthrough when she was selected to design the adventure path for the Channel 4 documentary in the U.K., 'Walking the Americas' with Levison Wood. This subsequently led to being appointed to guide Simon Reeve for his show on the BBC, 'The Americas with Simon Reeve.' Then being cast in a French documentary by Cyril Dion, 'Animal.'

Mari talked to me in great detail about how this was overwhelming and how it affected her mental state. We explore why this was the case, as she stated she didn't feel worthy of the recognition.

We also discussed a significant moment in her life at 28, when she was bit by a snake and died for a moment. Thankfully, Mari revived to tell me the tale of what happened and subsequently why this was a blessing for her to begin a new chapter in her life, which involved starting Tribu de Mujeres.

Three other talking points which also played a big part in Mari's life, which she told me, are being bullied by her professor when studying for her guide badge. Reasons she fell into depression and had suicidal thoughts. Finally, she was over the moon about being pregnant but had a miscarriage. From all these discussion points, Mari tells me where her state of mind is today.

Mari tells me about what's ahead for her and her successful business.

Fascinating discussion, well worth a bag of popcorn to go with it.

This is a special edition of the show. I spoke to Masum (name changed to protect his identity), who is in Kabul, Afghanistan, about the current situation in the country. It was intriguing to listen to Masum's story as he went into fine detail about pre-2001, during the 20 years the Americans were inland, and post-August 15th. He tells me what it's really like to live under the Taliban. I also spoke to Conference Director and Travel Photographer Shane Dallas to give his perspective of Afghanistan as it is now and what he made of it all when he travelled there as a visitor. I talked to a family who fled the country and a couple of women about their take on life as an Afghan. Unfortunately, they all didn't appear on the show as they were terrified of what may happen to them. But I sum up what they told me. I had the pleasure of talking to entrepreneur, globetrotter and travel host, Scott Eddy. One of our most significant discussions was on how to run a business that incorporates travel into your work and lifestyle and how anyone can do it at the highest standard. Scott and I spoke about his early life, working in the corporate world as a stockbroker. We talked about why he left that field and what made him fall in love with travel. My main focus point with Scott was looking at how people want to be in the travel space but don't necessarily have the work ethic or lack the business acumen to be part of it. I talked about his success and what he has that not many have. Has his corporate success early on helped lead to the success he has now? I also discussed why Scott feels as though the influencer space lacks creativity and why he doesn't want to be regarded as one. Scott and I talked about his T.V. show, VideoGlobetrotter, which airs in the United States on Lifestyle. I asked him what the show entails and what makes it different from other travel shows. We spoke about the future of the show. All of that and much more on this fascinating discussion. You can also watch the episode on my YouTube channel (https://youtu.be/Gh_aOSktxTE). In particular, we spoke about her photography and how she has evolved with time when producing her work. We talked about how much of an impact social media has had on photography. We discussed some of her travels and why she started a travel podcast called, Roaming the Earth. Ash and I also discussed how he first got into writing and journalism. And what was it that made him stand out? We also discussed him being a multi-media journalist. We also discussed the state of journalism today and where it is heading in the future. I also discussed what his plans are in the coming months and the near future. I also talked to Ash about what it was like to travel during the pandemic and whether it was all worth it. A thoroughly fascinating discussion. A lot to take from our talk. I look forward to seeing what Ash gets up to next. You can also watch the episode on my YouTube channel (https://youtu.be/sDO_Nb3iiQI). Anniversary special What a year! A pandemic year. A year in which I have pretty much distanced myself from everyone. Much like everyone else has! But there was one thing that I was proud to have started during 2020. That was my travel podcast, Take a Wander with Shebs. And what better way to celebrate the first anniversary than to interview the man who has produced consecutive weekly episodes and has pioneered the show. An interview inspired by the state of the current climate. An interview with none other than myself, Shebs Alom! I also have to reference British GQ; I've seen plenty of interviews over the years where people have interviewed themselves and thought I could do the same. I discussed with myself whether I ever saw myself in this position a year on. Which interview has struck me the most. Whether I keep in touch with any of the guests. Where do I see the show and myself going forward. And what currently annoys me the most! I hope everyone enjoys this spoof, and I can continue bringing great conversations from exceptional individuals from around the world. You can also watch the episode on my YouTube channel (https://youtu.be/-HOr_F511u4). For people with hearing impairment, subtitles are available on YouTube.

I sat down with Alex Schnee to talk about her travel blogging career and how she has managed to make that a success with her blog, Alex on the Map. This was the third time I had spoken to Alex about her journey to date as I had conducted an Instagram Live with her back in April 2020. The talk unfortunately disappeared due to Instagram not giving the option to save the video at that time. This is part 2; part 1 is about food & travel and was technically my second chat with her. In this discussion, we discussed how she fell in love with travelling and her journey to starting her travel blogging career. One of the topics we discussed was her struggles early on in her teenage life, as she said she struggled with an eating disorder. We spoke about how she overcame this. We discussed what it takes to start a blog and evolve as a blogger by going into different business areas, such as photography, videography etc. We also discussed how she finds hosting Instagram Lives and Podcasts. Alex and I also discussed her love for pizza and what she would like to accomplish for 2021. As always, it was great to have Alex on, and I look forward to seeing what she conquers for this year. You can also watch the episode on my YouTube channel (https://youtu.be/EXhL8AAUR50). For people with hearing impairment, subtitles are available on YouTube.

Mike and I sat down and talked about the year, which was 2020. We discussed what took place for Mike on a creative level, his journey in the travel space and what he has installed for 2021. Mike and I met through a panel we were both involved in at the end of 2020. During that discussion, we spoke about the importance of diverse storytelling within the travel industry. During our one to one talk, we went in-depth about where Mike's love for travel came from, and what led him to form 'Travel with Meaning.' Living in Los Angeles, Mike was in the entertainment industry as a talent agent representing many different people in the sector. Mike came to a crossroads and realised that he wanted to get away from the industry and so he did. In his own words, he went on a walkabout and travelled to Australia to find his meaning in life. Since then, he hasn't looked back. We went into detail about the mindset Mike now has, and he believes that travel will have an impact on everyone's lives and careers in some way, shape or form. When he was on his journey travelling, he said he interviewed 80 people asking them the same three questions. He had that curiosity, and his passion for travelling, storytelling and community building led him to launch, Travel With Meaning in 2017. He talks to me about the fact that creating Travel Talk Live was a way to bring like-minded travellers to recreate the feelings that he experienced on the road. From these talks, his idea is to build an authentic community to inspire and encourage others to travel. In the spring of 2019, he launched the Travel With Meaning Podcast to continue to grow his community. Mike also spoke to me about what’s installed for 2021. In general, he said most people would be aiming to break out as they would have been exhausted from just being stuck at home. We also spoke about some of his memorable experiences and what he likes to do outside of his work and travel. I also talked to him about his relationship and the support he has from his partner. I thoroughly enjoyed my talk with Mike. There is a lot to admire about him. Taking the leap of faith and going on to doing something he now loves takes courage, and I applaud him for it. I look forward to seeing what else he does in the future, and I wish him the best of luck. You can also watch the episode on my YouTube channel (https://youtu.be/R7r-hKWJ-7c). I had the pleasure of speaking to Avital Andrews about her success as an editor, writer and journalist. We spoke about how Avital initially fell in love with travelling and how her curiosity was enhanced from her early adventures to explore more in the subsequent years. Avital explains to me how her writing and journalism career started. She puts it down to being bilingual and not speaking the native language of English until she went to school in the United States of America. We talked about what makes her stand out in her field and what it takes to succeed and evolve. She has also published a book that she said has motivated her to publish more books in the future. Avital also told me that she was starting a position as an editor for Facebook in the education sector. We also discussed some of Avital's travel stories. What travel looks like for her now as she is raising a child and where she wants to go in the future. It was great to get to know Avital; she has a calm demeanour about her, and I can see why she has had so much success in her career. I look forward to seeing the next chapter in her journey. What is it like to talk to someone who has conquered all 7 continents and not even turned 30 yet? Well, I got the chance to speak to Hope Weaver, someone who had embarked on a boat to Antarctica a day before her 27th birthday to complete this achievement. Hope is someone I travelled with all over Morocco back in March 2016, as we met on a group tour. Since then, we have remained friends, and I thought it was time she shared her remarkable journey in her life with the world. Hope and I discussed what it was like for her growing and where that initial love for travel came from. Growing up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where many Amish reside, she spoke to me about being questioned on why she was travelling as not many did from that part of the world. We spoke about when I first met her and how she was this fearless solo traveller looking to explore and learn about new cultures. Hope managed to conquer all 7 continents and to do it under 30. That alone is a feat not many people achieve in a lifetime, let alone under 30. Some of the biggest travellers and bloggers in the world haven't succeeded in doing so. You will find out whether this was a goal of hers and what was it really like to travel to Antarctica. Was it all worth it, and what did she learn from that experience? Hope spoke to me about trying out different food on the road and how she always looks forward to that part of her travels. We also spoke about her engagement and wanting a destination wedding-her thoughts on relationships, and perhaps why many people who travel are still single. She told me about some of her hobbies and what else she would like to conquer when travelling. It was a joy speaking to Hope and reminiscing at times. She is a courageous, ambitious and determined individual who seems to be heading to the moon with her mindset. I look forward to seeing the next chapter in her journey, and it was a delight having her on the show. You can also watch the episode on my YouTube channel (https://youtu.be/KH5JBfWThzs). I had the honour and pleasure to sit down and speak to photographer, Roberta Marroquin, about how she got into photography, travelling, and her secret of sustaining her long career. Coming from Monterrey, Mexico, we discussed what it was like growing up in Mexico. We discussed her education and why photography was such a passion for her from an early age. Roberta discussed going to university and studying in England and France, of all places, to learn her trade. Roberta talked to me about graduating and making it into the field by freelancing at the beginning to build up a portfolio and moving across to New York in 2008 to pursue a one-year certificate programme at the International Center of Photography. Ever since then, she has lived in the city and lived her dream. We also spoke about the key to sustaining a long career as a photographer and where she sees the industry as it is today and its future. We spoke about some of her travelling assignments as she has travelled to places like Syria, China, Bhutan, Kenya, and Japan. We talked about The Snowman Trek she did in Bhutan and how that was one of her most challenging and most satisfying moments in her travelling and photography career. Roberta and I discussed what she does outside of her work and travel. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my talk with Roberta, and I look forward to seeing what else she has to offer in the world of photography. Perhaps one day, we can be on an assignment taking photographs together. You can also watch the episode on my YouTube channel (https://youtu.be/OCwGdrl2Wrk). I sat down and spoke to Shane Dallas, a keynote speaker, conference director, social media expert and photographer. We discussed how he fell in love with travelling at a young age and how his career started in the travel industry. One of the topics we talked about was his photography. Shane got noticed because he took photos of places on the road less travelled, which not many did back in the early 2000s or do so today. We talked about why he travels the road less travelled and the meaning behind him starting his weekly Twitter chat, TRLT. Did Shane ever envision the Twitter chat lasting this long and it being this successful? I also spoke to him about what he likes to do away from work and travel. Plus, whether he has plans to go back to Australia. I thoroughly enjoyed my talk with Shane, and I hope people take something away from our discussion. I spoke to Alex Live on my Instagram on May 25th, 2020 at 11pm BST/6pm EDT. Alex decided to cook us all ratatouille. This show aimed to discuss what types of food we both have eaten on our travels and why we love to try different cuisines worldwide. Food is a big part of my travels and this talk will serve up an appetite. This was the second talk I had with Alex as our first talk was also live on Instagram. Unfortunately, I don't have access to that footage due to Instagram not having the option for me to save the video. In that discussion, I spoke to Alex about how she got started in travel, becoming an author at a young age, and having an eating disorder which she overcame. She put that down to the experiences that she gained from travelling. There is a lot to like about Alex. She is bubbly, courageous and she has a great sense of humour. It was a real pleasure having her on. I look forward to seeing where Alex goes next as I have become one of her biggest fans. Jules Hatfield and Christine Williams spoke to me about how they started a successful blog, Don't forget to move, a podcast, Not So Bon Voyage together, and evolved into brilliant entrepreneurs. Jules is from Melbourne, Australia, and Christine is from San Fransisco, California, USA. They both now live in San Fransisco. I asked them where their initial love for travelling started and how that led them to the lives they have now. We discussed how they first met. They stumbled across one another in Peru, South America. They were both travelling solo and connected with a local organisation to help people after a big earthquake in the country. They both said the relationship escalated very fast, and ever since then, they got married and have now travelled all around the world together. We discussed what it takes to start a blog and what it takes to keep it thriving. We also talked about how a digital nomad's life could be a norm in the future with how everyone has worked remotely during 2020. I spoke to them both about their successful podcast and why they decided to talk about travel mishaps. They felt as though it was an area that would be more of an interest for listeners and something that isn't covered in other podcasts. They both spoke to me about some of their adventures. We also talked about what the future may hold for them with aspirations and goals. It was great to have them on the show. They are both down to earth individuals with a great sense of humour. I had the honour and privilege to sit down and talk to, Ryan Pyle. Ryan and I had a comprehensive chat about his life and career up to the present date. Ryan spoke to me about how he initially fell in love with travelling. He told me that his mother was a travel agent, and his household always had magazines such as National Geographic, which got him curious about travelling at a young age. Ryan spoke to me about going off to university and studying International politics at the University of Toronto. His idea of studying this subject was a way of maybe working abroad and also gave him an interest in other countries. He also played basketball at a pretty high level whilst he was at university and did look at becoming a pro. During his second year in university, he told me that he had a slot on a Thursday at 2pm that he had to take a class to have a Friday off to play basketball, and he decided to take, Introduction to Modern China. That led to Ryan's interest in China. After getting his degree, and not making it as a basketball player, he decided he didn't want to hang around Toronto and see how his life played out and went to China on a 90-day trip. When he returned home, he decided that it was a place for him to go and live. This is where Ryan got into writing and photography and pursued a journalism career. During his time in the news media, he got his work published in some well-known publications, including the New York Times. He got mentored by Howard W. French of all people. When the 2008 financial crash happened, Ryan spoke to me about his transition from news media to television. He talked about it taking some time, and had to self-fund a few expeditions, but he eventually started working with the BBC, Discovery Channel and Amazon Prime. His shows include Expedition Asia, Extreme Treks and Tough Rides. We spoke about one of his journeys where he broke the Guinness World record for the longest motorcycle ride. Ryan has won numerous awards for his work in journalism and television. Most recently, his accolades have been at the Asian Acadamy Awards, which is the equivalent of the Emmy or the Bafta awards for his tv work. We also spoke about the future of television travel documentary, and what Ryan may have to do to continue his television career. Interestingly, we discussed how Ryan started shows on Instagram Live and then started a podcast. He said as a storyteller; he wanted to continue telling stories whilst in lockdown in 2020 and starting his shows online, was a way of doing this. As he couldn't get back to his home in Dubai, Ryan did all of this in Istanbul. The most memorable part of this was when he saved a kitten, becoming his pet cat, Whisky. Ryan also spoke to me about his public speaking and how he started that and why he loves doing it. He talked about doing a mix of paid and free talks. He is also an author, and has books such as, 'India Ride: Two Brothers, Two Motorcycles, One Incredible Adventure: Two Brothers, Two Motorcycles, an Incredible Adventure,' and the book which he recommends people pick up if you are going to read about him, 'Sacred Mountains of China: An Epic Human-Powered Adventure Through a Remote World.' As Ryan made his name in photography, I had to ask him about the state of photography today. He had an interesting viewpoint. We also talked about relationships, and whether it's possible to have one when you have a lifestyle like Ryan. It was a joy talking to Ryan. He was a true gentleman, and I can see why he has achieved so much in his career. I hope people watching this interview get inspired, and I look forward to seeing the next chapter on his journey. We also talked about Africa's beauty and why we should think about travelling there after getting back to some normality. I spoke to German about where his passion for travel started. I talked to him about his upbringing in Peru, and how he got started in modelling. You will find out his modelling took him around the world. After living in quite a few different countries worldwide, German eventually decided to leave Lima, Peru and move to Cape Town, South Africa, where he has lived since 2008. German spoke to me about how the business started, as it was a straightforward thing that got him thinking about how to create the company whilst he was helping out some of his friends. He saw a business and eventually started his agency four years ago. We spoke in-depth about the clients German has and where the majority of them are based. We also talked about where in Africa he tends to send people. His knowledge of a place is phenomenal due to one factor which makes him unique; he has travelled to these locations himself. We discussed some of German's favourite places to travel to. We also spoke about some of his favourite cuisines and reminisced about Peru as I have travelled there myself. I enjoyed my talk with German. Very a likeable guy and he has a great understanding of life. I look forward to meeting up with him when I can get to Africa. I had the pleasure of speaking to Mad Nomad, adventurer, writer and author, Elias Vrohidis. Elias and I discussed how he fell in love with travelling and what drove him to want to explore the world on a motorcycle. We started the discussion on his education and what degree he obtained. From there, he realised when he began working in front of a computer that this was a life he did not want to continue living. Elias talked to me about the decision he made to travel at the age of 23, and this was to travel across parts of Asia on a motorcycle. We spoke in detail about why he chose to travel this way and how he documented his journey. We spoke about some specifics, such as how he goes about funding his travels, how long he travels for, and what he gains from each experience. I also discussed what he would like to accomplish with his journeys once he has completed his goals travelling on a motorcycle, whether he would like recognition worldwide. I also asked whether he would want to continue travelling on a bike as he gets older. Elias spoke to me about having written many articles and books. You can purchase his books from his website. I discussed what he likes to do outside of his travels and his relationship status. It was great to get to know Elias. A very unique way of travelling. I look forward to seeing more of his journeys in the future. You can also watch the episode on my YouTube channel (https://youtu.be/6YLV0WpsEPc). Katherine spoke to me Live on the 21st of September 2020 on my Instagram about how she started off her writing career, and how she became successful within a couple of years. I discussed where the initial love for travel started with Katherine, and I spoke to her about some of her transformative travel experiences. Katherine used to be based in New York but moved across to Wyoming during the lockdown. She does state it was temporary. Even though she couldn't travel internationally after March 2020, Katherine travelled across the State on road trips. She spoke to me about how her life was completely different before she started writing about travel. She worked in advertising and knew it wasn't a career path she wanted to continue in. Katherine told me that she started off being a high school reporter, which is where her passion for journalism came from. Katherine talked to me about how you can start writing about anything and everything, whether about fashion, politics etc. and then eventually falling into a topic you want to write about. It's about building that writing portfolio in her eyes. Katherine also discussed with me the need to write objectively as well. She explained that many travel blogs are too subjective, and many bloggers need to start thinking about writing objectively as they can influence people worldwide. She clarifies that there isn't much policing in the blogging industry, leading to one-sided views. Katherine has had her work published in major publications such as Forbes and Tripsavvy. When it comes to travelling, she has been to all four corners of the world. It has been non-stop for the last few years for her. Katherine plans to travel more when the world opens up again. When she isn't writing or travelling, Katherine loves to socialise with her friends and family. Katherine also loves to read a good book. I thoroughly enjoyed my talk with Katherine. The time flew by, and I reckon I could have spoken to her all day about her life and career. I look forward to seeing what else Katherine accomplishes in the near future. You can also watch the episode on my YouTube channel (https://youtu.be/7Epy8kzGh80). For people with hearing impairment, subtitles are available on YouTube.

I spoke to Alaa live on my Instagram on the 29th of September about his life journey and what took him to where he is now in Turkey. Alaa is a businessman and owns a restaurant in downtown San Fransisco called Elixiria. His business has featured in Hoodline and Timeout and has had a lot of great success. Unfortunately, it closed during the pandemic, and he does state he is unsure of the future. Alaa talked to me about being born in Jerusalem and moving across to America with his parents at two years old. He states he is from a Palestinian background and the reason why his parents moved across was to get a better life. When it comes to travelling, Alaa has been all over the world. He has also lived in numerous countries outside of the United States. Alaa does explain that when it comes to a transformative moment, that came when he first travelled outside of the United States, saying his upbringing as an American was in a bubble. He meant that his bubble got burst when he travelled to another country and realised there was more to life than the United States. Alaa goes on to explain to me that American culture is like pop culture. He said it sounds great at first, but after a while, it gets boring. This all stems from just travelling and getting a new perspective on life away from the American culture. One of the best things he experienced in his career was getting invited to a Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Nairobi, where Barack Obama gave the talk. He said there were very notable people in the room with him, and many of them spoke to him about the initial struggle. Whilst living in Turkey, Alaa has travelled all over the country several times. He said the country is an extraordinary place and there is still so much more to explore. He told me that he arrived with his wife, who was pregnant at the time, and their idea was to go across to Isreal to stay with family and get help with the baby's initial upbringing. Unfortunately, Alaa and his wife get separated, and his wife gave birth to their son, Omar, in Jerusalem, Isreal. You will find out that he still hasn't seen his son. Alaa does go into detail about why that is. He is in two minds whether he will go back to the United States and return to the life he had before. He states again that America isn't what is portrayed in the media in his own opinion. I thoroughly enjoyed my talk with Alaa. I found it educational and a bit of an eye-opener. I enjoyed meeting him in Istanbul later during my trip, and we have kept in touch ever since. I look forward to seeing what the next chapter in his life looks like. Alex Thompson and I spoke about his life, career, his travels, and the reason he founded, Legaroo, a law firm that aims to help travellers worldwide. Alex spoke to me about his early stages, where his passion for travel started. He was sent off to Canada at 17 years old to study for a year, where his curiosity for wanting to see the world first started. I went into detail about Legaroo, based in Costa Rica, where he is the Founder and CEO, and spoke to Alex about what the company can do to help people who get into trouble on their travels. Alex pointed out that a lot of the time when you take out travel insurance, you don't necessarily have legal cover. This is where they would come in with their service. Nearing nearly 100 countries with lawyers representing the company, it has become a firm that has grown exponentially in the last year. They have appeared in events and publications as well. He has been very fortunate to travel around the world because of, Legaroo. We also talked about the beauty of Costa Rica. A very eco-friendly country which has a lot to offer to anyone visiting. Alex, when he is not working or travelling, loves to read and play tennis. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my time talking to Alex. I look forward to seeing where Legaroo goes next. I spoke to Natasha live on Instagram on the 22nd May 2020 about her life, travels, and whether you can find love whilst your love is travel. Natasha is a Flight Attendant, Freelance Travel Writer, aspiring Actress, and Author. She is also the founder of Single Passport, where her aim is to get singles who travel into a loving relationship. We spoke in-depth about why it has been difficult for some to find a companion whilst travelling during our talk. Whether we are overwhelmed by the thought of settling down and whether that would disrupt our one love, travelling. As we told each other our thoughts behind why we were both still single (at the time of the recording) there were some stories we had from viewers that gave us all hope if you love to travel. Overall from the topic of love, we both came to a conclusion that it can be done, with the right mindset and a bit of compromise. Natasha also spoke to me about some of her travel experiences and how it all started for her. We spoke about her conquering the 7 Wonders of the World like myself and what she took away from that journey. Natasha also talked to me about travelling with her dad. She stated they have travelled together to many parts of the world. It was a real pleasure speaking to Natasha. Really fun girl who has such a positive outlook on life. I had a lot of joy talking about relationships and I hope her Single Passport takes off and helps us all find love. There is a lot to admire about Natasha. She has a lot going on in her life, but I wish her nothing but success and I can’t wait to see where her goals in life lead her to next. I’ll definitely be one of her biggest fans. We also discussed potentially carrying a certificate to travel. Similar to having a Yellow fever certificate to travel to certain parts of the world. Ravi talked to me about some of his exceptional experiences. As he has been to 186 countries, there are countless ones to choose from, but he did narrow it down to a couple of memorable ones. I asked Ravi whether he had plans to write a book about his journey. He said he has no plans for now. We did talk about the blogging world vs the vlogging world. Whether blogging has seen its shelf life, or whether both formats can merge. We also spoke about some of the friendships Ravi has made on the road. Simon Parker is a Telegraph travel writer, columnist and BBC broadcaster. His show, Earth Cycle, airs on Amazon Prime worldwide. I had the honour and privilege to sit down and talk to Simon about his life and career up to the present date. Simon spoke to me about how he initially fell in love with travelling. Growing up in north Oxfordshire, he said there were no shops, no pubs, and not much to do, making him eager to get away as he got older. He didn't do much travelling during his early life apart from a few holidays with family. So once Simon had finished school, he bought a one-way ticket to New Zealand, hitchhiked the entire country, and then decided to go and do the same thing in Australia. That was the hook. Simon just knew he had to be in the travel industry after that, and he knew he would find a way. Simon told me because of his solitary adventure in New Zealand and Australia; he doesn't particularly like to follow the crowd or do activities in big organised groups, which is why he loves the idea of hiking and riding by himself or in a small group. We discussed how he broke into travel writing and journalism. We talked about journalism as it is today and where it is heading in the future. Our discussion on the speed of news breaking was fascinating. What significant factor has social media had on journalism? Was this why Simon wants to work on articles that take a long time to produce? I discussed with Simon about his television show, Earth Cycle: Northern Europe, which won Best Broadcast Programme at the Travel Media Awards for 2020. I asked him what it felt like winning the award and whether he had plans for future shows now that it has had recognition. We also discussed the issues of over-tourism. Simon suggested ways we can all help with this matter. Another topic we discussed was how fast travelling would pick up once we are out of this pandemic. Simon felt as though there would be a renaissance for international travel, which led to an interesting discussion on the continuing debate worldwide on the impact of travel on the environment. Simon does give a great viewpoint on the subject matter. Simon talked to me about his public speaking and talking to young people about what travel has done for him and what it can do for them. We again spoke about social media and the impact it has had on travel. Simon has interviewed many icons and told me about what it was like to interview tennis legend Roger Federer in 2020 for the BBC. He also spoke about what it was like to interview cricket player Ben Stokes in the press room after he scored a double century against South Arica in Cape Town back in January 2016. Talking of cricket, Simon told me about his passion for the sport. He has played cricket himself all over the world on a non-professional level. We also spoke about how he balances out his travels with his home life as he is in a relationship. Simon also talked to me about his future aspirations and his advice to people trying to break into journalism, travel and the media. It was a real delight to have Simon on the show. I could have spoken to him all day about travel. I look forward to seeing what he gets up to next. You can also watch the episode on my YouTube channel (https://youtu.be/7uO_U_SvOvA). Jeannette and I sat down and spoke about 2020 and her career up to the present day. Jeannette spoke candidly with me about how she struggled when we all went into lockdown back in March 2020. She stated she fell into a mild form of depression. We spoke in-depth about why this was triggered and where she is now with it. We also spoke about why mindset is so important when it comes to wanting something in life. Whether that aspect is on a career level or just her day to day goals. She spoke to me about some of her experiences which included her sheer determination in getting an interview with Anthony Bourdain. I also discussed with her about her internationally recognised company, 'Jet Set with Jeannette.' What it took to get it off the ground and again, the mindset she had with her work ethic to make that a success. We also discussed why diverse voices in the travel industry were influential as this has been something Jeannette has been talking to people in conferences all around the world for 5 years. I have real admiration for Jeannette wanting to succeed, and you will see from the talk that she takes it within herself to have that work-life balance in order. This is something I have noticed when I have spoken to Americans in general that they don't necessarily have due to the work culture that they are in. Jeannette states that she has lived in Italy and Australia, and therefore, she has an understanding of when to take a break. All in all, It was a great talk. I certainly wasn't expecting to talk to Jeannette about the aspect of mental health. However, I think it was an important topic to discuss due to the current climate we have all been in. I'm looking forward to seeing Jeannette's next step in her life and career, as she has plenty of fire in her belly to become even more successful than she is now. Jen and I sat down to go over her wonderful and successful career up to the present day. We discussed her transition from being a lawyer to a full-time travel blogger. She is also an established author. Jen is the founder of 'Jen on a Jet Plane' where her aim is to help people live life on their own terms. This ethos in life also led her to become the founder of; 'People of Puerto Rico,' a non-profit organisation, which aims to help local entrepreneurs establish an online income stream. I discussed with her why it was important to write and tell your story, and in particular, writing that journey down in a form of a book. That ambition and goal led Jen to become the #1 bestselling author on Amazon with books like, 'The Affordable Flight Guide,' 'The Solo Female Travel Book,' and her recent book which reflects the current climate today, '25 Ways to Work From Home.' I spoke to her about some of her journeys, including when she set out to complete 12 trips in 12 months before her 30th birthday and why that time was an important part of her life. That led me to speak to Jen about her past relationships. She was very open about some of her encounters and we spoke about whether travel has had a part to play on perhaps why she hasn't settled down. Jen is also a two-time Readers' Favorite Award winner, a 3-time TEDx speaker and has been featured by The Washington Post, Huffington Post, ABC News, and most recently, Forbes. She was a remarkable individual to get to know, and I thoroughly enjoyed our talk. On a personal note, I felt as though I could relate to her journey with mine and I am sure there will be so many others watching and listening in that will feel the exact same way as well. It's funny sometimes how we can all parallel each other's lives. Jen is definitely heading to the moon. I can't wait to see her achieve more of her goals, as I will be one of her biggest supporters going forward. You can also watch the episode on my YouTube channel (https://youtu.be/xhDU_XNJNyQ). Romey and I spoke on my Instagram Live on June 15th, 2020 at 11 pm BST/6 pm EDT on his life and career. Romey is the Partner, Head of Communications at ELMNTL, President at TravelUnity, and Forbes 30 under 30 Finalist in Marketing in 2016. Based in New York, I spoke to Romey about his passion for travel and why it is so important to him to bring inclusivity within the travel sector. Romey and I discussed his upbringing. The initial love for travel came for him whilst growing up in Huntsville, Alabama. One thing he did tell me, growing up being the only Asian in school, left him questioning his heritage, which led him to use whitening cream to make his skin paler. We discussed why he got to that stage and whether he regrets what he did. When it comes to his work, we spoke about certain scenarios when working with brands and sometimes he is on a losing battlefield in terms of what he is after. However, he did tell me it doesn't stop him from trying to get diversity within the sector. He also spoke to me about when it comes to working with influencers, the biggest thing he wants out of them is to get them to tell their story and journey, rather than going back to him with superficial photos. I also spoke to Romey about some of his favourite destinations. in particular, Romey does like to try out different cuisines when he is travelling and in his own words, will have an itinerary of restaurants he wants to go to or specific food he wants to try out. All in all, I really enjoyed my talk and it was a pleasure getting to know Romey. There is good inside of him. His mindset and goals for wanting an inclusive society are there for you to see in our talk. I shall be keeping an eye out on all of his future endeavours and wish Romey the best of luck. Christine and I spoke about her extraordinary journey in life up to the present moment. She fell in love with travel from an early age and when she was in university, she was able to go on off the beaten path and experience what travel really had to offer. We discussed her work in the corporate world where she eventually landed a job working remotely. She was married to her best friend, both with great careers, and their lives all planned out ahead of them. That was the issue! You will find out from Christine that their lives were so planned out that there wasn't much space for spontaneity. Which meant Christine decided to make the hard choice and leave the corporate world and go full time with her travels. She even decided to move on from her marriage as she felt when she started travelling alone, her cards were reading differently to her husband. After that moment, she has not looked back. A fearless solo female traveller, we discussed some of her most magical and most memorable moments to date. We even delved into her current relationship, which she doesn't talk about on her platform. It was a real pleasure getting to know Christine during our talk. She really is a down to earth, energetic, full of life girl. The best thing about Christine is that she really wants to help others live their dream. I am always excited when she tells her story and I cannot wait to see where she goes from here as I will be one of her biggest fans. I sat down and spoke to David about some of his travel experiences. David took his first trip with his parents to Ibiza when he was 18 months old (not that he can remember that). But from an early age, he was fascinated about travelling the world one day as he never went away with his family after that trip. I discussed with David his current situation as he was meant to be in China with his partner teaching English. I spoke to him about where he sees himself once we go back to some normality. I also spoke to David about what Covid-19 has done for the tourism industry, and the repercussion it has had on the lives of people in countries around the world that are reliant on tourists visiting. David did talk to me about his love for Africa. A few years back he spent a good few months exploring the continent. Because he loved it so much, he drove back down a few months later after he returned home. We spoke about what his future travel plans are going to look like with South America being high up on his list as he hasn't quite made it to that part of the world yet. The Middle East is a place he loves and he would like to go back there as well. David has a passion for photography. He sells a lot of his work on the Shutterstock and Alamy websites. We went into detail about the style of work he does and post-production as well. I had a magnificent time talking to David. He was a real no-nonsense type of guy and spoke to me on a very high intellectual and rational level. I look forward to more of David's journey and seeing if he does make it to South America. I sat down and spoke to Rutuja Kulkarni about some of her experiences regarding her travels. Rutuja is a solo female traveller from India. Not many females from India travel solo, but she spoke to me about why she explores solo. One of the big reasons behind it was due to her relationship as she was married. She talked to me about the different mindset and environment the man she married had grown up in. Perhaps how that stopped her from wanting to explore more about her inner self and life. We talked about some of her memorable places. What she was looking forward to seeing in the future. It was a pleasure having Rutuja on the show, and I hope people took some inspiration away from our talk. I look forward to bumping into her when I next visit India. I had the pleasure of talking to Lola about her life and career up to the present day. Lola is internationally recognised for her work and has won numerous awards. Some of her work has been featured in the likes of CNN Travel, National Geographic Traveller, and BBC Travel. We spoke about how it all started for her in the industry. Lola told me that she moved to Maryland, USA, and started her education there and then eventually moved across to Europe and settling up in Sweden. She started her career as a field journalist at Eco-Challenge and then years later, she decided to pursue her love for photography and go full time as an entrepreneur. Lola and I spoke about her work, including some projects that she has ongoing. We also spoke about the one work that got her noticed, which was a photograph of a husky she took for the National Geographic Traveller. As an established author, we spoke about some of her published books. She recommended one to pick up if you haven't read any of her books before. She spoke to me about how she went about launching a new academy recently. She hopes the academy will inspire a new generation. We also spoke about her family life being married with 2 kids. She told me how she balances her work being a mother. There are some other new projects on the cards and she will continue to work on her photography. It was a real pleasure talking to Lola. Her passion and commitment are inspiring. I learnt a lot just talking to her and have instilled some of her sage advice she gave me into my work. I look forward to seeing where Lola goes next in her entrepreneurial life. You can also watch the episode on my YouTube channel (https://youtu.be/u6X_g6r44pk). I spoke with Safoura Taheri about why Iran is a place to travel. Safoura spoke to me about the country's beauty and why there is a misconception of Iran from the western media. We talked about some of the places she loves to visit, and perhaps people should put on their bucket list. She spoke to me about wanting to travel abroad after she has seen all of Iran. Some of the places on her list include Europe and the United States. Safoura is married and said she would love to travel even more when she has a family as she would want her kids to experience and learn from what life has to offer. To her, there is no better way of getting an education than travelling. It was a great joy to have Safoura on my show, as I wanted to show the world that Iran is a place of beauty and it should be a destination people think of and a country not overlooked. I had the chance to speak to someone who doesn't live too far away from me, and that was Micheal Huxley from Bemused Backpacker. I spoke to Michael about the journey he took into starting Bemused Backpacker and how he had transitioned from being a nurse to a full-time travel blogger and making his business a success. Over the years, Michael's work has appeared in The New York Times, The Guardian, BBC, The Globe and Mail, USA Today Travel, NASA and much more. One of the most important topics with spoke about was the importance of travel bloggers being paid for any work they undertake. He passionately feels if all travel bloggers demand to get paid for the work they do, in doing so, they will pave the way for other travel bloggers to do the same. He explains why this is so important as it would stop brands and companies from mistreating bloggers. Michael talked to me about the fact that he felt a lot of bloggers were after freebies, and he explains why that is not good for the business. I also spoke to Michael about how perseverance and consistency are critical as a travel blogger and how that longevity can lead you to a successful career in the business. We discussed some of Michael's memorable places and a few tales, where a cat once saved his life. Michael also spoke to me about what he gets up to when he is not working and travelling. It was great to get to know Michael. After our talk, we actually met up for a drink, and I look forward to seeing him in the future to discuss more of our travels. Karl and I sat down and spoke about some of his experiences in travel and what it took for him to start his travel channel, 'Karl Watson-Travel Documentaries.' We spoke about some of his early days and where the love for travel started. The conversation then led to us talking about filming documentaries and where that all started. He has gone on to make some wonderful feature-length films, usually as a one-man band, occasionally with the help of others. He spoke to me about a few key points when starting and what the content should consist of. He mentioned if there is no relevance to what the audience wants, then they will switch off. Consistency throughout the film is important from what I gathered, which isn't an easy feat when filming a travel documentary. We also spoke about some of his travel experiences and in particular, we spoke about travelling for the reason of wanting it, and not necessarily doing it to tick a box or tick a country off a bucket list. I also spoke to Karl about the effects of travelling on his relationships. It was a brilliant talk and I loved every bit of our chat. Karl came across as a down to earth, no-nonsense type of guy. His channel is so successful as there is a clear mindset on what he wants, which is vital. Top guy and I look forward to more of his new work soon. We talked about his passion for photography. He explained that he learnt his craft on YouTube of all places, and got better with more time. His most immense love is taking photographs of the wildlife as you will find out why. David did tell me that he has a website where he sells his prints, and he would like to get more traffic in the future. We also spoke about zoos and whether animal conservation is right. I sat down and spoke to Jeanine about her life and career up to the present day. Jeanine is quite eclectic in her pursuits. She is a travel writer and photographer, fashion and product designer, comedy screenwriter, and entrepreneur. (Her line of clothing, bags and wallets can be found here http://www.jthetravelauthority.com/store/) She has visited 100 countries and all 50 states, often bicycling, hiking, or Nordic skiing. Her quirky comedy short film that she wrote, 'Such A Deal,' debuted in 2020. Jeanine spoke to me about her early love for travel. She tells me that growing up in a dysfunctional household only made her want to achieve her goals more. We discussed how she got into writing as it wasn't in a conventional way. Her articles have been published in magazines, newspapers and websites that include the Washington Post, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, Forbes, National Geographic Traveler, Huffington Post, Virtuoso Life and CNN Travel. She also appeared back in 1989 on an episode with David Letterman on the David Letterman Show talking to him about nutrition. We also discussed her work-life balance and where she gets time to wine down with so many projects on the go. You will see that she doesn't like to pinpoint any of her work as her outstanding piece as she puts in 100% effort into whatever she does. Jeanine also spoke about a few essential trips in her life that she looks back on with joy, but she cannot pick a favourite. The longer the travel journey, the more she feels for a place. There are places she told me that she would like to travel to in the coming years. I thoroughly enjoyed having Jeanine on my show. It was a delight to get to know her, and I look forward to seeing more of her work and perhaps bumping into her on one of my travels. I spoke to, Sucheta Rawal, a travel expert with a mission to raise awareness in the world through meaningful travel and cultural understanding. Sucheta spoke to me about when she moved away from India at the age of 17 to America. In particular, we discussed some fundamental reasons why telling that story, whether it is through writing or other various social media outlets, was a vital narrative to inform and inspire, especially as she is from a south Asian background. We spoke about going from working in the corporate world to writing articles on food and eventually pursuing her passion for food and travel. That passion led Sucheta to become a Writer, and she has regular publications with the likes of CNN, Creative Loafing, CheapOAir, and The Huffington Post. From our talk, you will also see that she likes to draw on her own experience of travelling to 100 countries across 7 continents and inspiring others to travel sustainably to give back to communities. This passion led her to form, 'Go Eat Give,' in 2011. We discussed what the organisation can provide grassroots around the world and how it offers customised travel experiences to individuals and groups. I also discussed with Sucheta about her successful children's illustrative books on travel, 'Beato Goes To.' What led her to want to create this for kids, and whether there are more books on the way. With her passion for food, she spoke to me about her love to cook a different cuisine each night. Sucheta was a delight to talk to. It is quite an in-depth talk we had, but I could have spoken to her for days and not got bored. Her story is an inspirational one, and I will be keeping an eye out for what's next to come, as I am intrigued to see her succeed more. Yashodha Edirisinghe and I sat down and spoke about some of her experiences travelling around her home country, Sri Lanka. We talked about why it was important to her to travel around her home first before embarking on a journey abroad. There were some specific places she spoke to me about and places where she recommends. Yashodha also spoke to me about why waterfalls were always on her list of things to see and experience. Plus we talked about the types of food to eat, and what to try when visiting Sri Lanka. We also discussed the online abuse she gets. She explained that she would just ignore any abuse she would get online, but it had become too much in recent times. Majority of the abuse wherefrom men on a sexual harassment level. Yashodha discussed with me how she tackled this. We also spoke about some of the places she would like to travel to once she feels she has done enough of Sri Lanka. I sat down and spoke to Robin about his travels and his love for photography. Robin discussed how he first started travelling and how that led him to explore more as time went on. He spoke to me about his love for Iceland and the Faroe Islands. He has the ambition to see more of the world and talked to me about a few places on top of his bucket list. We spoke about over-tourism as well. Our discussion was based on places like the Faroe Islands having too many tourists visiting that the locals can't handle it. Can there be something to tackle this? Robin also told me about his visit to the Faroe Islands and the time of the year he went, where there was nothing open. He said he managed to survive somehow, which you will find out as there was no food for him to eat and he was travelling solo. We spoke about Robin's photography skills and where that passion started. He talked to me about the type of photography he likes to take and his ambitions to get even better than he is now. Lauren and I discussed her life journey, which has led her to write about travel, wildlife, and conservation. We spoke about where that initial love for travel started. She mentioned her backpacking trip to Australia being a transformative moment. I spoke to Lauren about how she got started in writing and talked to me about what it takes to put in the research to write a good article. From the discussion, you will see it can take months to write a good story. Lauren's work has appeared in National Geographic Traveller (UK), National Geographic Traveler, The Times, The Daily Mail and The Independent. Her success has also led her to interview Sir David Attenborough's on three separate occasions, Dame Jane Goodall and Steve Backshall. We spoke about the state of travel journalism, and where it might go with the influx of influencers. We talked about whether technology has a part to play when it comes to writing. Lauren also spoke to me about some of her memorable places. She also talked to me about what she likes to do when the pen is down, and there is no travelling involved. I had the pleasure of talking to my friend, Jimmy Dick Ezcurra. Jimmy and I met on a group tour in Peru where he was my tour guide back in September 2016. We remained friends since that time as I loved Jimmy's outlook on life. In our discussion, we spoke about how travelling started for him, as he states his father was a pilot which meant he boarded a flight for the first time before his first birthday. Ever since that time, he has always wanted to experience the world. Jimmy spoke to me about how he got involved in the travel industry as he managed to land a job as a tour guide with, G Adventures, the biggest company in the world for providing tours for small groups. The job suits him well as he loves the authentic aspect of travel. Due to the current climate, he has been laid off as there aren't many travellers heading their way to Peru, but he hopes to get back to doing what he loves soon. We also discussed how hard it might be travelling on the road with the job and being away from his family and friends. Whether it has been a burden on him. Jimmy spoke to me about some of his memorable places and what he would like to achieve next in the world of travel. It was a delight having Jimmy on my show and reminiscing at times. I have real admiration for him, which is why we have remained friends. I wish him nothing but the best, and I look forward to catching up with him on the road soon. Sahil talked to me about how he has travelled a fair bit of India and parts of the country where many tourists and even Indians haven't been. He spoke to me in detail about specific trips and what he had gained from those experiences. To this day, Sahil has travelled with companions but is open to the idea of travelling solo in the future. There are many places he wants to see around India before embarking on a trip abroad. One of the first places he told me he wants to travel to is Switzerland because his favourite actor Shahrukh Khan has recorded many films there. So his curiosity to travel there has been enlightened. I had the honour and pleasure of speaking to Raha Moharrak about her epic journey on completing the 7 summits, career and life, and her plans for the future. Raha spoke to me about her early ambitions in life. We talked about where her love for travel came from and where and why this idea of conquering the 7 summits came from. We spoke about the challenges she had in convincing her parents to want to achieve her dreams. As a Saudi woman, she felt as though she would be breaking down barriers, and by doing so, she would pave the way for the next generation, particularly women in Saudi Arabia. Raha spoke to me in detail about the 7 summit journey itself and how this led her to become internationally recognised. According to CNN, she became the first female from Saudi Arabia to conquer this feat. Her courageous outlook in life and her success led her to partner with major brands such as Tag Heuer, Nike, Adidas, Lipton, and L'Oréal. These are to name a few. In 2016, she had the distinctive honour of winning 'Emirates Woman of the Year.' Raha spoke to me about how she handles the pressure now and whether that is praise coming her way, or negativity. I talked to her about whether she feels the stress of being a role model as well. We also spoke about how a lot of influencers are wasting their talent and not doing enough. She feels as though they can use their voice for the greater good. I also spoke to Raha about how tourism in Saudi Arabia has picked up, and she couldn't be happier. Raha said she was blown away by some of the places she went to when she was travelling and filming for her TV show. Raha spoke to me about some of her other travels. We talked about her completing the 7 Wonders of the World. She also told me about what place resonates with her the most. She also spoke to me about some of her hobbies which I think many people will be surprised about when they hear what she collects. I thoroughly enjoyed talking to Raha. I look forward to seeing what she has planned next, and I am honoured to have had her on my show. You can also watch the episode on my YouTube channel (https://youtu.be/8dIEDfPpzHs). I had the pleasure of speaking to Sharon and Mike Cassidy about their lives and where they sit today. Sharon & Mike Cassidy are expats living in Dubai. They are kiwis with two daughters and travel as much as they can as a family. They discussed with me what it’s like to travel as a family and how they are looking to do this on a full-time basis. They both met in New Zealand and didn't necessarily want to travel the world, but with opportunities arising, they eventually moved across to UAE, Dubai. They both spoke to me about some of the elements of their travels and what they look for when they travel now as a family. I also spoke to them about what it is like to travel with kids. There have been questions in my mind about whether it is possible to travel as a family like you do when you are single. Whether that is to do with financial reasons or difficulties travelling with kids. They both told me how they manage to balance it all out. 2020 was meant to be a year where they were going to be travelling on a full-time basis. They also spoke to me about what travel will look like in the future when we get back to some normality. I enjoyed my talk with them. Listening to both Sharon and Mike gave me confidence if I was to have a family and whether I would find a way to travel. I look forward to seeing where they head as a family.
