Hello everyone we are settling in out here on the summer Happy Together Tour....6 down with 60 to go! Hope you enjoy our visit. We had an interesting question at info@cowsill.com (where you can write to the program) regarding our performance of the National Anthem at game 3 of the 2004 ACLS between the Red Sox and Yankees at Fenway Park in Boston. Most of the time we are asked what it was like to perform the anthem in such a setting, etc., but this person simply was asking how did we get there? How did we find ourselves standing at home plate in 2004 at Fenway Park.
Well everyone we've had some long episodes and some short ones so here's a short one kind of setting up the summer and what to expect and what's happened so far and all that good stuff. We sat for the beginning and after 15 minutes it felt like we'd been talking an hour so we had to do a second segment. Too funny. We're on our first week of the tour and it goes until September 7th so whoa there!!! Enjoy the episode and there's more to come from the summer Happy Together tour!
Well we finally coordinated our schedules and time zones and lives to have a visit with Jason Scheff, he of the famed band Chicago for 20 years and future participant in this summer's Happy Together tour. You'll have to listen to hear about Jason's connection with not only The Cowsills, but Ron Dante, the Association and Gary Puckett. What a story!!

Lenie Colacino spent the summer with us singing on the Hapoy Together tour with Jay and the Americans. Of course we found out that Lenie is way more than just a background singer and, in fact, has his own absolutely amazing musical history and journey and he shares that with us including his run as Paul McCartney in "Beatlemania" on Broadway. We hope you enjoy this episode we sure did!
We were alerted to a Facebook post by the Evans Family Band holding a sign up asking to meet the Cowsills and voila! We have this week's guest and it is indeed the Evans Family Band. What a great visit we all had with Paul Petersen, who played Jeff on the Donna Reed Show, but continued through his life becoming way more than that. We hope you enjoy our visit with this childhood star who did so much for so many of us later in his life.

We had such a great visit with Artie Kornfeld last week but we never got to touch on Woodstock, the true legacy of this great man. So this week we invited Artie back to have a very cool Woodstock conversation and what a tale it is. Enjoy this one folks it's a beauty!!
Well folks it only took 164 episodes to get to one of the most important figures in the history of The Cowsills and here he is. To put it bluntly without Artie Kornfeld there would have never been a famous musical family called The Cowsills on any charts anywhere no matter how good we were. Artie was the key to it all. Artie Kornfeld is way more than his Woodstock legacy indicates and The Cowsills were an early success for this amazing artist in his own right. That describes singer-songwriter Hal Bruce everybody he is a one-man, multi-decade, singer songwriter with an amazing history and one of the most amazing repertoires out there. He actually once performed a live medley of 214 Beatle songs without stopping...yes it included #9. Enjoy the visit everyone!!!

I guess we're in a long feud. Also we address our "forced" night off at a casino in Michigan because they don't like "Indian Lake" and they don't like us. Today we visit about life at Halidon Hall, the mansion on the hill in Newport, Rhode Island where we lived just before we moved to New York. We were on the cusp of making it big and we have a lot of fun memories to share with you about life in Newport c. 1965-1966.

Susan is not on this episode as she was born in Ohio and we left when she was three so there's no memories.... if she does have any we'll talk with her about that next week. We had such fun last week describing our life in Santa Monica when we arrived in late 1968 on top of the world we thought we'd continue the theme this week and next even. Today we talk some about life on Indian Avenue in Middletown, Rhode Island in the mid-sixties when we were forming the band and coming of age. Hello all this week's guest hails from Canada and they are the power rock pop group The Kings. The Kings made their mark in the early 80's and have not stopped and currently are promoting their 2024 album/CD release "The Longest Story Ever Told". We hope you enjoy this visit with one of Canada's great rock bands as we travel a long and winding road through their career as songwriters and performers. The story that takes place in Denver, The Kings first American concert opening for Jeff Beck, is absolutely priceless and very rock 'n roll!

We had a great time at the California Music Hall of Fame induction ceremony everyone. One of the highlights of our evening was meeting Frank Stallone. What a gentleman! They are 16 yr old Arianna and her 2 younger brothers Harrison on guitar (ahead of his time he's so good) and Johnny their 10 year old drummer (who started drumming at age 7 sound familiar anyone?) and then Constantine who will be playing keyboards when he gets a little older. Well the eclipse eclipsed our hopefully planned guest this week when the family band, COMPASS, found themselves smack dab in the middle of the "path of totality" for the solar eclipse and our episode was scheduled to tape smack dab in the middle of that eclipse so we will visit our family band next week because that would have been a big miss for the family. We had a great visit today with Jay Reinke who happens to be Jay #3 of "Jay and the Americans". What a great story as to how that came to be. So different and amazing. We hope your 2024 has blasted off in a positive direction! Filling the shoes as the voice of Jay and the Americans is not something any singer can do....only a special singer like Jay Reink! "Nolan Ryan's Pitching Bible" ('91), "Randy Johnson's Power Pitching" ('03), "Tony Gwynn's Total Baseball Player" ('92) and the great "Pitch like a Pro - A Guide for Young Pitchers and Their Coaches from Little League through High School" ('99) and more. We listened to fascinating stories and insights surrounding these famous icons of baseball and Jim's interaction with them. Lots of fun!
Ever wonder what a music publicist does and why it seems every successful team has one? We had a great visit with the legendary music publicist Bob Merlis. Bob was head of publicity at Warner Brothers Records for 30 years before breaking out on his own as a successful independent music publicist working with stars like ZZ Top, Dion, John Mellencamp, Neil Young, it goes on and on, over a brilliant career that's still successful and thriving. Bob even escorted a young 20-something Susan Cowsill on a publicity tour promoting her singles deal with Warner Brothers in the mid-70's. The best news is Bob, as of last week, is now the publicist for The Cowsills!!! Enjoy this unique insight into a unique position in the music industry.

Carl Giammarese, one of the founding and still current members of The Buckinghams, sat down and visited with us. We've toured many summers with the Buckinghams and have gotten to know Carl very well. Even so it's such a pleasure to visit and hear things we still didn't know about and delve a little deeper. The Buckinghams rocked the '60's and beyond with a sound that ultimately would help blaze the path and open the doors for their fellow Chicago musicians trying to make it big, the group "Chicago". Hits like "Kind of a Drag", "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy", "Don't You Care?" and of course "Susan" cemented The Buckinghams as one of the top groups producing hits in the '60's. Enjoy the episode.
Ian Anderson is a genius. He really is. What a story what a visit we have to say. Ian brought a new dimension to "frontman" with the arrival of Jethro Tull. He played the flute like a lead guitarist plays a guitar and developed a stage character that could be theatric, entertaining and somewhat even intimidating at times (or as Ian put it, "...the girls really never approached me"). He is a man beyond his flute and his gifts to this planet are beyond his music. We would even suggest going through some of the research like we did before listening. We didn't even know where to begin. A fine British fellow!
Kara McKee is a singer/songwriter who had an amazing adventure on "The Voice" when she was chosen by John Legend to be on Team Legend. Her experience was something and we got an insight into the scene behind "The Voice" and how the whole thing works. Kara is the daughter of the governor of Rhode Island, Dan McKee, and a brilliant financial talent also. She opened for us when we recently performed in Westerly, Rhode Island and sang her beautiful songs and had a great performance. Please enjoy getting to know Kara McKee.

In the late '70's through the early to mid '80's the Cars were it. Their first album sold over 6 million copies and they had hit after hit including "You Might Think", "Drive", "Just What I Needed" and "Good Times Roll" to name more than a few. As you can imagine Rock 'n Roll Hall of Famer Elliot Easton, who's signature lead guitar work would become identified as part of the Cars "sound", has a story to tell and it's so good to hear how some of these major bands found themselves and their audience and Elliot and the Cars are no exception.

After literally years of dealing with the Pledge Music situation where pledges were received on behalf of the Cowsills and then the whole Pledge Music group went bankrupt and disappeared with everyone's money we decided that we needed to resolve the situation once and for all so we discuss in this episode what actually happened with Pledge Music from the beginning through our attempt to right the situation, getting in over our head and learning the lesson that no matter how hard you try there are just some things you can't take on and try and fix no matter what your heart tells you
From her innocent attempt to find a job to becoming John Lennon's "Lost Weekend" companion the path that May Pang has taken in life has been both dramatic and unexpected at so may turns. With the release of the movie "The Lost Weekend - A Love Story" May Pang takes us on the journey of a lifetime. As part of Beatle history (how many can say THAT?) May steps up to the plate and clarifies an important part of John's legacy and takes us through before, during and after the 18 months she spent as John Lennon's companion and influencer as she played a role in reconciling John with his son Julian and with his partner Paul McCartney.

Her story prior to her first hit record is remarkable and you will be amazed. Our guest this week is Tommy Roe. "Dizzy", "Everybody", "Sweet Pea", "Sheila"....all of these songs were massive hits in the '60's. Meeting and being able to visit with Tommy Roe was an unbelievable experience. This guy is in three Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fames (Rockabilly, Georgia and Iowa) and "Dizzy" was most recently declared #91 in the top 100 songs of all time by USA today! This is a great winding tale and just sit back and enjoy this awesome visit with the Tommy where we hear about having the Beatles open for him and Chris Montez in 1962 when they were just starting out and how THAT went. Great stories about dealing with the "Bubblegum" moniker and all that fun stuff.
In addition to performing with the Box Tops our guest Rick Levy has walked the path of the famous without becoming famous himself. He even wrote a book about it. He's been a tour manager, manager, musical director, and performer with many many artists like Peter Noone, Tommy Roe, the Box Tops, and Jay and the Techniques among others. HAL LIFSON has been called the "guru of 60's pop culture" and is known as a great historian of that era. He is a publicist, writer and author and worked a number of years with Nancy Sinatra even being "summoned" to Palm Springs when they had to run everything by the "Chairman of the Board". On top of everything else we now have our first guest who can say he was on 1970's show "The Gong Show". In the '80's nothing said rock/pop/edgy more than The Smithereens. Today we visit with Jim Babjak and he takes us through some of the great history of the band and the incredible history they lived and continue to live as a touring viable band. Jim takes us through the death of their lead singer, Pat DiNizio, and the decision to continue to move forward with guest lead singers. Brilliant!!! Folks today we venture into the world of the Jonas family. Our guest is Kevin Jonas, Sr., father of the Jonas Brothers. Kevin was at the helm before and during the incredible rise of the Jonas Brothers and you will hear incredible stories from the Dad's perspective which, in the case of the Jonas Brother's history, is very important and influential. Everyone who knows the Jonas Brothers knows about their relationship with their dad. We have a blast during the visit where you will also hear from our very own resident Jonas Mom (Susan) and her daughter Miranda who sits in on some of the fun. For Miranda, a HUGE Jonas Brothers fan, speaking with the Dad was pretty dang close to speaking with the boys themselves so she was good to go. Enjoy everyone. With hit songs like "Spooky", 'Traces of Love", "Stormy" and "Every Day With You Girl" everyone knows of Dennis Yost and the Classics IV and all about their place in pop history. But this is a visit with Tom Garrett, who the universe was going to assign the huge task of taking on the lead singer position in the Classics IV when Dennis Yost had a terrible fall and couldn't perform anymore. Dennis would eventually pass but before that happened he personally chose Tom Garrett to take responsibility for the catalogue and the singing of these songs and by doing so ensured these great hits will continue to be performed and shared with audiences everywhere. It's a great story. You'll also especially enjoy Paul's technical difficulties as he navigates cyber interference throughout the episode in at times very funny ways.
We had such a great visit with Michael V. Pomarico. Michael is a TV Director who was the technical and full-time director for "All My Children" for 27 years amongst other accomplishments - one of the best "soaps" ever! What a great conversation we had as we learned all about directing, technical directing and learned how Michael came to be the winner of 6 (was it 7??) Emmys out of 14 or so nominations. Wow!!! Hey also we've been "cancelled". The "woke" came "a-wokin". Yep it happened. You can hear a little about it in this episode as we describe taking the hit and dealing with the world we live in.

We'll try and bring you in on how all of this is done...this variety type musical theater kind of singing while you're in motion kind of thing. What a challenge!!! Well folks it's just me and Paul tonight running the show while Susan is off becoming a Grandmother!!! We visit with the boys from Venice. A great band through the decades consisting of Kip Lennon (Kathy's of the Lennon Sisters brother!!) and his cousins brothers Michael and Mark Lennon. A true family affair was had and we had a blast of a visit. What a story of course because everyone has one and Venice is no different. 21 albums or more, known worldwide entering their 6th decade as entertainers and recording artists. You'll hear how we come upon the idea of putting together a concert featuring Venice, The Cowsills and The Bacon Brothers....a true family event. We will keep everyone posted on that!
The Lennon sisters were on over 400 TV and magazine covers, appeared on over 1,000 TV shows, had 21 albums, sang for seven U.S. Presidents, spent 13 years on The Lawrence Welk Show (which we watched every Saturday night as kids listening to them harmonize), 10 years with Andy Williams in and out of Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, and 23 years in Branson Missouri at The Andy Williams Moon River Theater, plus everything in between. We get to ask Kathy a lot about Branson where everyone knows we're headed. We hope you enjoy our visit with Kathy Lennon.
Tony Orlando - we love this man Tony Orlando and what a great great visit we had. If it goes on too long folks just take a break and two-part it. Whether he's talking about when he's 15 singing doo-wop with his group The 5 Gents or taking you through his years as a record executive and the unlikely calling he receives from the universe as to where and how he should proceed in life...you need to hear this story it is remarkable. He's basically under the wings of Don Kirschner, Carole King and Gerry Goffin, Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann - and nobody is famous yet but all will be. Enjoy this one folks because we could have talked for hours!
Well we guess if you've won 5 Grammys, been nominated for "Producer of the Year", engineering and producing every famous artist of his day along with running the forefront of sound and studio recording techniques and innovations it's probably hard to remember a couple of interactions with "The Cowsills" who were just struggling to stay relevant when our paths crossed twice in 1972 and 1978 ("The Cocaine Drain Album" and "Covered Wagon"). Watch us hold it together as we hear, "Uh, well no I don't remember".... "Covered Wagon" and "This Here Is A Love Song" and "Down In The Valley" was a 6-hour session at the Sound Factory in Hollywood late one week night with Val at the controls and we were thrilled. It was a great night of recording more isolated and remembered in our sparse history but buried in Vals incredible life and experiences. 100 gold and platinum albums. Val Garay is an icon and important historian for the history of rock and roll.
Bill Hanley formed Hanley Sound before sound systems were even thought of as important to live concerts. Bill was the sound man at Soundblast '66 at Yankee Stadium, Hanley sound ran the board during our 1968 "Indian Lake" tour. You will hear about the history of the innovations that Bill brought early in the game as audiences grew and concerts became bigger and needed bigger space and bigger sound right up to and including Woodstock. What a story. So fascinating. Bill even visited us at Halidon Hall in Newport during those early days of just trying to figure it all out.
Today we get back to updates and gripes and whatnot. Our guest is Freedy Johnston a great singer/songwriter whose history matches up with the best of them. We love hearing Freedy tell the story of walking through South by Southwest in Austin, Texas and stopping in his tracks when he hears Susan Cowsill singing and what that all led to. Freedy discusses his career and his brand new September 9th album release "Back On The Road To You" which features a great song with our sister Susan called 'The Power of Love.

WE'RE BACK!!!! Hi everyone we are back with live broadcasts, audio AND video now, and spent this episode catching everyone up on everything. Well not quite everything. One thing we wanted to mention for the umpteenth time but seemingly never enough is that Pledge Music pledgers will eventually receive everything they've ordered. If you just ordered the signed CD then those should be going out sometime in October (we have to sign 550 of them!!!!). If you ordered the CD and Vinyl album then you will receive your order when the Vinyl comes out (on Record Store Day which will be either April 15th or 21st). Orders will only be sent when items are available to fill an order. We can't be sending someone 3 items separately. Michael and Kevin Bacon, the Bacon Brothers, each have their own individual success stories -Kevin with acting and Michael with music - each worthy of their own podcast episode. Together, however, the siblings are as connected musically as The Cowsills... both boys having the passion and talent to spend over 25 years recording, writing, and performing songs they create and performing in concerts all over the world while at the same time maintaining their own viable careers. Derek Sharp (D#) could have been the front man for any band in Canada he chose to do that with...no one would have turned him down. But instead a band chose him and destiny was fulfilled. In 2008 Derek became lead singer of The Guess Who. But Derek goes way beyond fronting The Guess Who and we get in to some real fun discussions about things like that and his life before 2008 through today. You'll really enjoy this story. A COWSILL-OSMOND VISIT!!! It happened folks! Jay Osmond was gracious enough to visit with us and what a visit it was. We don't want to give too much away but we had a great time. You'll hear about their first performance in front of Walt Disney (Jay was only 6), the whole Andy Williams tale and their successful attempt at leaving what they called the "song and dance" group behind to hit the pop charts and get in on the fun of being a rock 'n roll band making hit records. Godfrey Townsend is the Musical Director for the Happy Together Tour band. He is a gifted musician, keyboardist, guitarist and actually began his musical life singing opera at the age of 6. Just Google Godfrey and you can see all of the artists he has performed with. It is truly amazing. On the Happy Together Tour his band is used by every act as their back up band and he and his boys morph into all of us during the course of the show. As a guitarist you want Clapton you've got Clapton, you want Beatles you got it....Godfrey has spent his career elevating others with his talent and musicianship...if he was in your band, or on stage with you, you were better for it. An accomplished guitarist, singer, arranger, producer, songwriter and many other things, Rob has recorded 5 solo albums and his power pop sound and arrangements are right up there with the very best of them. Listen once and you will continue to listen. Rob currently tours with Brian Wilson. We Cowsills were all in a band with our mother and Rob is in a band with his father-in-law, Brian, (he’s married to Brian’s daughter Carnie) so we have that “family band’ thing in common. Rob’s band, Wanderlust, made a splash in the mid 1990’s and he has forged a career in music throughout the years and is deserving of all the attention a successful recording artist deserves. We almost talked our way to distraction again but we finally had a visit about our night singing the National Anthem at Fenway Park for the 3rd game of the American League National Championship series between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees back in 2004. WE FOUND HIM!!! We caught our brother John as he was getting ready to head to Los Angeles airport and out on the road with the Beach Boys. We had a great visit. For 39 years, from 1982 to 2020, Fritz Coleman was our top weatherman on KNBC TV in Los Angeles. That means we all grew up watching and listening to Fritz and we want you to meet him up close and personal. There's way more to this man than the weather. What a great story. Louise Palanker, producer of our documentary who hosts a podcast with Fritz, makes a surprise appearance and things get a little wacky. It was a great visit with a great guy.
In 1973 one of the #1 records on the charts was "Heartbeat -It's a Lovebeat" by The DeFranco family featuring Tony DeFranco...a singing family of three brothers and two sisters from Canada who were to become the next singing family sensation in America from 1973-1977. Tony was destined for the teen mags and became a teen idol. Tiger Beat in particular would play a pivotal role in the history of the DeFranco family's rise to success. From 1961 through the early seventies Cousin Brucie, with his voice drenched in his famous echo, and WABC radio in New York City, were on the frontline during the greatest musical explosion in the history of rock 'n roll...and he continues to this very day to entertain us, once again on WABC. Cousin Brucie was there representing all of us meeting face to face and side by side all the artists we only dreamed of getting to or near. The disc jockey who was a relative to us all, everybody's cousin Cousin Brucie, has a great story to share and a great career to cover. Even he said we'd need another episode or two to go over it all. We want you to meet one of the kindest, most influential icons of the music industry...a member of 3 halls of fame...a disc jockey who played the hits when they were hits and lasted long enough to play the same songs years later as "oldies". He's an incredible guy and we hope you enjoy meeting him...one of the great icons of radio, Bruce Morrow - Cousin Brucie.
It's just us folks. We came in with a plan to talk about our night at Fenway Park singing the National Anthem at game 3 of the AlCS between the Red Sox and Yankees. We would need the whole episode it's a doozy! But once we started the show we just talked about stuff and the time got away from us so we'll do that episode next. The career of Joe Piscopo is so voluminous and broad that to try and cover it in a short podcast episode is impossible. If we belabor even one aspect of Joe's amazing life we'll start belaboring other things then pretty soon we're in to a 5th episode with Joe belaboring everything. We did our best to hone in on some interesting factoids that we could ask Joe about like, "Why did you take the drums out of 'Wipeout' on your 1985 album "New Jersey"? Who takes the drums out of "Wipeout"?!!!! Also being the great impersonator he is (he can impersonate so many people the list has to be alphabetized to keep track) we asked about when he first discovered he had that ability and who was the subject of his first impersonation. Of course we had to get in to Sinatra and "Saturday Night Live" with Eddie Murphy and even a little Rock Positano. Enjoy the episode... we had a blast visiting with Joe.

Bo and The Cowsills crossed paths when we signed on with the "Original Idols Live" tour in 2007. Bo was the musical director. A crazy combination of The Cowsills, Barry Williams, Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods, Leif Garrett, and the Bay City Rollers! The Four Seasons, the Four Aces, the Four Tops, the Four Freshmen, the Four Lads...well today on "The Cowsill's Podcast" we are visiting with Bruce Belland of THE FOUR PREPS!!!! In terms of audience reaction to the Four Preps think Beatles and Frank Sinatra. They were mobbed after their concerts. Do you remember watching Ozzie and Harriett and waiting for Ricky Nelson to sing the song at the end of the episode? Remember the band that always stood there with Ricky? That's the Four Preps plus James Burton. That's Bruce Belland to Ricky's right. The Four Preps were Ricky's college buddies on the TV show. Imagine what is must have been like when your band is riding high and the Beatles arrive on the scene and change the whole landscape and there's no room for you anymore. We were new to the story of the Four Preps since they were a little before our time but it just blew us away so we wanted to have Bruce on to share his story with everybody and he was gracious to accept the invitation. Butch Patrick is synonymous with Eddie Munster and many of us remember "The Munsters" - the show about a "normal" family navigating society and all of it's preconceptions of family and family life. Hilarious. Butch Patrick played Eddie Munster, a child werewolf, while he was 7, 8 and 9 years old. Little did he know he would be associated with that role for the rest of his life. Listen in while Butch discusses his life, his professional career, the early days at Hollywood Professional School and hanging with Paul and Susan and, of course, "The Addams Family", his relationship with the other cast members and "Indiana Beach"...a Munsters amusement park coming in 2022!
This week's guest is Pat McLoughlin of the classic band The Cyrkle. The Cyrkle is best known for their gold record hits Red Rubber Ball and Turn Down Day. They're bringing back the happy days of their 1960s hits to audiences across the country. The reformed lineup, beginning in 2016, featured original members Don Dannemann and Michael Losekamp, joined by Pat McLoughlin, Mike Rousculp (d. 2019), Don White, Scott Langley, and later by Mike Shoaf (2019-2021) and Dean Kastran. The band was managed by Brian Epstein of The Beatles fam, being the only american band ever managed by Brian Epstein. They got their name from John Lennon and, In fact, they opened for The Beatles during their last US tour in 1966 at Shea Stadium.

This week's guest is the great musician and photographer Henry Diltz. Among the bands Diltz played with was the Modern Folk Quartet. While a member of the Modern Folk Quartet, Diltz became interested in photography. His work also attracted the eye of musicians who needed publicity and album cover photos. He was the official photographer at Woodstock, Monterey Pop Festival and Miami Pop Festival, and has photographed over 200 record album covers.
The Cowsills ask Henry how he transitions from playing the banjo to professional photography and how he got involved in Woodstock.

He is also known for his roles in several television series, Van Zandt has his own solo band called Little Steven and The Disciples of Soul.
The Cowsills are so excited to be talking to the great Steve Van Zandt. Today's guests are Carnie Wilson of Wilson Phillips and her talented daughter Lola. Carnie Wilson is the daughter of Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys and of his first wife, former singer Marilyn Rovell of The Honeys. She co-founded Wilson Phillips with her younger sister Wendy and childhood friend Chynna Phillips when they were in their teens. Lola is a third generation raised by famous parents and Carnie is determined to break the chaos that comes with a musical family in the spotlight. The Cowsills are back! The last episode may have been released just one week ago, but Bob, Susan, and Paul have been on the road performing in the Happy Together Tour all throughout August. This weeks' episode is their debut back on the airways. The trio start off with some stories from the road and your favorite segment, Paul Puffer Fish.
Their guest this week is John Hall of the rock band Orleans.
John Hall was a child prodigy -- studying piano at 5, playing French horn, guitar bass and drums by 12. He started playing in the clubs of Georgetown and Greenwich Village by 18, recording an album for MGM and then another for Columbia. At 21 he wrote and directed music for both Broadway and off-Broadway. He has seen great success over the years and is a real treat to have on the show.
John shared the origin of the name Orleans, what to expect in the future, and more.

She visited Elvis on the set of one of his movies and joined the hottest rock stars in the recording studio. As a correspondent for the London-based New Musical Express from 1968-1971, Ann covered America’s British Invasion photographing the Rolling Stones and the Who.

The Union Gap was one of the most successful musical groups of the sixties.
Gary's unmistakable signature voice garnered six consecutive gold records and top ten Billboard hits. Gary Puckett has performed on more than thirty network television shows and prime time specials during his career, even adding a command performance for the President and Prince Charles at the White House.
After the Union Gap was disbanded in the 70s, Puckett had success as a solo artist with the 1971 album The Gary Puckett Album.

Today, the Cowsills bring on two talented musicians, Dennis Scott and Jonathan Pushkar. The two have been called to create music from a young age -- Johnathan began playing guitar at age 10 and writing songs in his early teens and Dennis began his entertainment career at the age of 7 as an actor on Broadway. The Cowsills had the pleasure of working with Johnathan and Dennis on their Mr. Rogers tribute album.
Johnathan’s biggest influences were pop artists of the 1960s; acts like The Beatles, Herman's Hermits, The Searchers, The Beach Boys, and The Monkees. Later, he came around to “That Thing You Do!” and Fountains of Wayne, which infused a modern influence on his music. Johnathan's release of his most recent project, Compositions feature modern songs with a vintage twist.
Dennis Scott is a two-time Grammy Award winning songwriter/producer/writer has left no corner of the children's music industry unexplored. His songs have been recorded by such artists as Ray Charles, Faith Hill, Kathie Lee Gifford, The Muppets, and more. Dennis’ work has been featured on stage and television in shows such as Sesame Street, Magic School Bus, Clifford the Big Red Dog, and Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade to name a few.

Pat is a singer, composer, actor, writer, television personality, motivational speaker, and spokesman. He sold more than 45 million records, had 38 Top 40 hits, and appeared in more than 12 Hollywood films. Billboard claims Boone as the second-biggest charting artist of the late 1950s. Until the 2010s, Boone held the Billboard record for spending 220 consecutive weeks on the charts with one or more songs each week.
Debby is a three time Grammy award winning artist, author, and actress best known for her 1977 hit, "You Light Up My Life", which spent ten weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Throughout her career, Boone has appeared in several musical theater productions and has co-authored many children's books with her husband.

The band was no stranger to the U.S. top 10 list during the 1980s, with "Manic Monday" (1986), "Walk Like an Egyptian" (1986), "Hazy Shade of Winter" (1987), "In Your Room" (1988), and "Eternal Flame" (1989). Now, we're lucky enough to call them family.

Song of the Week: Walk Like An Egyptian
In this episode we’re revisiting the first ever Cowsill’s tour as a family, flying out to Los Angeles to stay and perform at the Century City Plaza. We reminisce about the games we played, competitions we started, and the trouble we would get into on the road.
We have Ron Dante and Toni Wine on the show, and you may not know them by name, but you definitely know them by voice. They’re the anonymous vocals behind the fictional band, The Archies. The animated cartoon phenomenon that put out records that achieved worldwide success, including one of their greatest hits, “Sugar, Sugar”!
As the youngest performers on Don Kirshner's label, just 13 and 14 years old, they sang back up for many bands, cartoons, tv and radio commercials throughout the 60s and 70s. We’re talking to them about what it was like growing up together in the music business and how they felt about their anonymity! To this day they are the only band in history to have a number one hit without ever performing for an audience!

We’re kicking off this episode with some exciting Cowsills news! Rhythm of the World, an album where we’ve mixed 20 songs together, is now complete and mastered, so stay tuned!
This episode we’re talking about our first ever cross-country tour, flying for the first time, and going out to Los Angeles to perform. We reminisce about the trip and what an eye-opening experience it was for us as kids never having been outside of New England before.
We welcome Peter Noone onto the show, and he joins the conversation, telling us about his first tour around England with Herman’s Hermits, when he was just 16 years old. He talks about the success he had at such a young age, and the fact that he had his first hit record when he still lived with his grandparents!
Peter tells us about a chance encounter he had with The Beatles and how much it motivated him. He started rehearsing and performing 24/7 with the Hermits, and because people saw them so often, they became convinced they were good. And they most certainly were! Herman's Hermits sold more than 60 million records, and 7 of their albums reached gold status, all before Peter was 25 years old.

We kick things off by taking you back to the very first time each of us performed for a live audience and what the experience was like. We’re going back to performances around Newport, Rhode Island where we grew up, from King’s Park to school performances at St. Johns, to performing down on Bannister’s Wharf.
We welcome the legendary Richie Furay onto the show, one of the original members of The Buffalo Springfield! Richie is one of the lead vocalists on songs such as "For What It's Worth", "Kind Woman", "Bluebird", and "Mr. Soul", and he’s answering all our lingering questions about the band over the years. We dig into how they recorded some of their bigger hits, rumored band disputes, and finally, we demand to know why they broke our hearts and split up in 1968!
The music didn’t stop there! The Buffalo Springfield band members continued to make some of the most influential music of our generation. Stills went on to form Crosby, Stills & Nash, Furay and Messina formed Poco, and Young launched his solo career. In 1969, Young reunited with Stills in Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. The Buffalo Springfield was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 and their legacy remains alive and well!

We have the legendary Bill Medley in the studio, and we’re talking about everything from the shared characteristics and connections between The Righteous Brothers and The Cowsills, what it’s like to still be singing the songs we sang our 20s, and how we’re stretching ourselves (literally doing pilates!) to keep the music and our vocals alive during a pandemic.
Bill tells us the story of how he and Bobby Hatfield came to meet, forming The Righteous Brothers, and what it was like to record ‘You’ve Lost That Lovin Feeling’ and have it grow to be a number one hit!
Bill recounts their performance on the Ed Sullivan show, being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003, and his own brief but successful, career in country music. And finally, we talk about Bucky Heard, how they met, and Bill’s decision to revive The Righteous Brothers with Bucky in 2016, 13 years after the passing of Bobby Hatfield.

We’re back, not canceled, and fired up about decreasing covid cases! In this episode, we’re talking to our very special guest and dear friend, Jim Yester, the last original member of The Association. We reminisce about 1966 road trips to New York City where we’d listen to Along Comes Mary, and the voice of Jim Yester on the car radio and then watching him perform on the Ed Sullivan show.
Jim tells us about joining The Association, what it was like replacing Bob Page in the band, and how he came to sing lead vocals on Along Comes Mary. He retells stories from the road and how the comedic relief the band was known for became a part of their concerts.
We ask about The Monterey Pop Festival in 1967 and what it felt like to be there for 3 days with all the bands. Today the festival is remembered for being the first-ever rock and roll festival, but Jim explains that back then they couldn’t have imagined what they were starting!

Our good friend, Dennis Tufano joins the show today for some hard-hitting questions and a bit of tomfoolery.
Dennis candidly retells his journey of The Buckingham's conception and how quickly the band ramped up to be declared 1967's "most listened to band in America" by Billboard Magazine. He takes us through the years and the names that all went into Dennis's unbelievable career.
And, of course, we have to ask about The Ed Sullivan Show and compare notes!
