Upon seeing a recent video from a brand founder who's found huge success on Tik Tok saying that they were working every day to try and step away from making content and the platform generally, it got Katie thinking about Tik Tok and how it forces founders to be so ingrained in their brands, and essentially take on the role of being 'the face' - even if it's not intentional.

Katie discusses how she's currently working with the founders of her own brands, how this is changing and evolving thanks to platforms like Tik Tok and consumers' attitudes towards who they purchase from.

The world of Instagram has always been, for the most part, aspirational, unachievable and basically fake; since the rise of the platform pre-Tik Tok this has been exacerbated, having us 'the followers' lapping up outrageous displays of wealth, and loving it!

Having been hit by basically every financial and humanitarian crisis possible over the past few years. Those times have most certainly changed. Us, 'the followers', no longer want to see the Bugatti parked in the landscaped drive of your mansion.. which was bought using the money, us 'the followers', gave via sponsorships, product affiliations and sometimes, scams. Of course Katie isn't talking about all influencers here, but there's certainly been a change in the tides, one well worth discussing.

Where have we been, where are we now, how are we viewing influencers, and what do we actually want to consume when it comes to content.

Whatever you do, don't let your privilege show!

"Some of pop culture's most prominent PRs - from Samantha from Sex in the City to Patsy in AbFab, are rarely seen without a cocktail. And this 'party people' persona still permeates through to how outsiders view the world of a PR.
