There are so man things that go into starting ones day and that is for those of us who do not have time blindness and ADD/ADHD.
I always find it easiest to prepare myself for the day in a way that eliminates stress and opportunities for distraction. This can be from the mushroom coffee and taurine I take in the morning for focus to dressing as if I were going to the office even though I work from home.
Preparation and persistence is the success to success.

I try to focus on three essential nutrients for adhd management which are zinc, magnesium, and omega-3.
Zinc helps regulate dopamine levels and neurotransmitters.
Magnesium has been shown in studies to help retention, hyperactivity and increase focus.
Omega-3 fatty acids found in seafood and olive oils to name a few increase the efficiency of nutrients uptake.

I want to talk about something that is near and dear to me and that is how ADHD impacts my schoolwork. No this is not an episode about distraction or paying attention.
In this episode, I will discuss how my challenges with reading quickly have impacted my ability to turn in assignments on time. I know some listeners are saying okay, then turn it in. For many, this will always be the logical decision but for some of us, it will not. Instead, we allow the anxiety and the stress of receiving a bad grade or negative feedback to interfere with us turning in our arduous work. How many of you have been there? Well, if this sounds like you, let me offer you motivation and words of wisdom to respond to these feelings as I have experienced from time to time. Thankfully, that is less of a reaction these days.

ADHD is not just a disorder that hinders you from remembering or finishing things. Other factors that affect ADHD are our emotional state and awareness of how we are TRULY and HONESTLY feeling. It is one thing to say "I'm pissed" or "I'm just feeling really down". It's another thing to reflect on these feelings at the moment and understand the cause. We often focus on moving past our feelings in order to "Crush" the rest of the day only to feel the same way later about those same things. We all have done it and will continue to do it, but by practicing self-awareness and self-regulation we can begin to understand the triggers and roadblocks that impact us so much. Try this exercise and stay tuned for some practices we can apply to address these.

Its time for another challenge episode.
If you had a difficulties on the previous challenge then you might want to think about readjusting your goal or routine. This is OK as we all learn and advance at different rates. This does not make you less.
*REMEMBER YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE ACCOUNTABLE FOR YOU WHEN YOU LOOK IN THE MIRROR.
VICE VERSA if you didn't feel challenged enough on the first challenge day then push yourself a tad further.
The goal here is to build confidence off of small repetitious goals.
*SMALL ACTIONS LEAD TO LARGE OUTCOMES!
Again make this challenge unique to you and have fun. Just because it can be uncomfortable doesn't mean it cant be a fun experience.

This is a Challenge episode! What does that mean?
It is a call to action to see what you can come up with within your challenges.
This challenge is meant to be fun and that's why I want each of you to set goals and lists that are personal and unique to you. We will all have different goals and lists. If you're just starting out making lists, schedules or routines then start off slow and try this habit or routine for 1 - 3 days. If you are a veteran at this, then choose something that will challenge you more.
This not only holds us accountable for what we say we are going to do, but it challenges us and gently pushes us towards our goals through commitment.
*If you do not succeed the first time, you can always re-adjust your goals. DO NOT feel discouraged as it takes 3 weeks to 3 months to establish a routine and then there will be days that we have trouble maintaining. Even those without ADHD have issues with routines and schedules.
REMEMBER that this is not to compare your progress with anyone else but YOU. This is your journey and yours alone. Those around us just have the pleasure of witnessing our awesomeness.
FOR PARENTS OR GUARDIANS! Ask your children if they are overwhelmed with schedules and routines because as I have experienced parents can and tend to overcompensate with routines and schedules so keep this in mind because too much structure can be daunting and even counterproductive. There is always a need for the balance!
REMEMBER that goals without lists and actions are just DREAMS!
BELIEVE IN YOURSELF AND WHAT YOU ARE CAPABLE OF. I DO!
