Open conversation and wonderment have become a lost art in most Christian circles today. Have you noticed when you're with close friends having coffee or a beer you feel safe to bring up those questions you never hear from the pulpit? We need more save places like that today. Like the old speak easy's years ago where your name didn't matter, and no one judged you for your wild idea or questions. This is a safe place to talk openly about things that make you wonder. Grab some coffee or a cold beer and join us. Hopefully we all learn something from each other.
In this episode of the Spiritual Speakeasy, our thoughtful panel takes advantage of Genesis’ account of the destruction of Sodom to reflect upon the biblical phenomenon of God’s delayed judgment, as well as the function of the prophetic office in the Old Testament, using Abraham’s intercession of behalf of his nephew Lot as “Exhibit A.”
This week our panel of eager Bible students considers the implications of the author(s)/editor(s) of Genesis attributing human qualities to Yahweh, as well as His decision to include Abraham in His plans for Sodom, so as to model the proper execution of justice before one whom the passage describes as the "father of nations."
We have been doing a weekly bible study starting with Genesis 1:1 for several months now. We are still only up to Gen 18 as on May 2023. We don't have a schedule or plan on how long this will take. Some episodes we spend an hour on 2 verses, sometimes we can cover a full chapter. We move at Holy Spirit speed. I'm sorry to say we didn't start recording these until today. We finally realized these are to good not to share. I promise the recording quality will get better as we go along. If you have any questions or comments you can email me at jimmyschools@yahoo.com. Thanks
After going to a full preterist conference yesterday I wanted to address some concerns I have from a Charismatic preterist. This was the first time I have been in a setting where everyone was a preterist viewpoint. Most of the folks were full preterist but there may have been some partial preterist there as well. One thing for sure is I think I was the only charismatic in the room of about 150 people. I felt very welcomed, and everyone was very friendly. I learned a lot but one of the things that shocked me was the lack of charismatics, and the mostly hardline teaching that the spiritual gifts had ceased at 70AD. This is what I wanted to address in this short podcast today. Thanks
In this episode Rob and I talk about the recent move by several popular or famous Christian worship leaders that have in some ways renounced their faith. Why is this happening and what should be our response?
This is just a preview of what's coming in the future. We give a glimpse of our vision and what we hope to do. More to come very soon...
I just wanted to do a short audio podcast to address a couple of my facebook post I made last night and today. I hope you have about 10 minutes to listen. This was the best way to respond to everyone. I had to many facebook comments and private messages and phone calls to type a response to everyone so yes, I took the easy way out. :) I will say I really feel loved from all the responses. Well, I have to admit there were a few that just wanted to yell at me but that's okay also. Happy New Year!!
I'm actually on the boat this time! Going a little deeper but this was just some comments off the cuff with no notes. I'm trying to set the tone and a footing so you can begin to see how all this comes together. Keep asking Holy Spirit to revel truth to you. :}
In my last podcast I gave you some background on my endtimes journey. From being a young 10 year old boy who would lay in bed some nights wondering if I was ever going to get married or have kids before the rapture or before the world was destroyed. How it cause me great fear and even later in life some lack of good financial planning because it was going to happen any day now. Well, 60 years later still no rapture.
So with that behind us, in this podcast we will talk a little bit about tools and understandings before we dive into Matthew 24. At the end I assigned some homework for you before we start session 3. I would like for you to read Matthew 21, 22 and 23 before we start reading Matthew 24.
Thanks for hanging in with me!!
Okay, I'm not on the boat this time but we will do that in later podcast. This is a little teaser of what's coming and to see if you're even interested. We are going to start by diving into the endtimes and the rapture and all the scary stuff. My goal is to maybe give you a new perspective that you haven't hear before. Something that may give you hope and allow you to look to the future with optimism and excitement. So grab a cup of coffee, sit back and lets take a light wind evening sail and see what Holy Spirit tells us.
