In the last episode, I talked about how it's definitely not my role to judge unbelievers.  However, because God's judgement is real and it's coming, we Christ-followers need to get to work!  One of the things that really bothers me is when someone tells you to do something, but they don't tell you how.  So today, I'm giving you 5 practical ideas on how to "get to work" and bring people to Christ in ways that won't push them away.

The title I actually wanted to use for this episode is this: God is Faithful to Judge (And that means we have work to do).  If God is faithful in all of his promises, then, yes, He is faithful to bless us (which we love!), but that means He also must be faithful to judge us (which we don't love so much).  But there are different types of judgement and just what exactly is my role--the Christ-follower's role--in judging others?  Oh, I think we have work to do, and it's not in the judgement business.

We've made it to our final episode of our study of Ruth.  Welcome to chapter 4!  It's always fascinating to be able to look back at a finished story and see God's hand at work, and what we see in Ruth 4 is that Boaz, a true man of God, knew that God had a plan.  And he trusted in that plan.  But that doesn't mean he didn't go about handling the business of becoming Ruth's husband without a little shrewdness of his own.  Let's take a look at the final chapter of the great love story of Boaz and Ruth!

Welcome back to week 3 of our study of Ruth!  There are so many take-aways in this one!  Many read this chapter and see scandalous behavior, but let's take a look at it through the lens of 1100ish BC Israelite customs.  In Ruth 3, we see real relationship growth between Boaz and Ruth.  She trusts him, and he values her, and I love that we're watching how they come to be.  But I also love getting an inside look into the depth of love between Naomi and Ruth.  Naomi not only helps Ruth get the man, but she also helps comfort her while they have to wait on the "problem" of this story to be resolved.  All the while, Ruth and Boaz both continue to demonstrate just how important it is to be a person of great character.

Welcome back to the second episode of our Ruth study series!  In the last episode, we followed along Naomi's journey away from and back to God.  I know you all were thinking, "She promised a love story!"  Well, here in chapter 2, we get to see God lay the groundwork for a love story that would come to have a serious impact on our salvation--Ruth and Boaz meet!  And it looks like maybe Boaz likes what he sees, far beyond Ruth's physical appearance.  Let's dig in to Ruth chapter 2, and we'll see how God works behind the scenes to show His love for Ruth through the kindness and generosity of her future husband.

Welcome to our in-depth study of Ruth!  I'm so excited to be doing this 4 week study with you.  Although it may not seem like it in this first chapter, the book of Ruth is a fantastic love story, far beyond our romantic notion of love.  In Ruth 1, we meet Naomi, a woman who just wanted the best for her family, but went about it the wrong way.  We see the far reaching consequences of her and her family's sin, but right towards the end, when she starts to take steps back towards God, we begin to see what will eventually be the far reaching consequences of her blessing.  Let's dive in!

"When God gives us what we want."  Sounds like a great idea, doesn't it?  And sometimes it is!  But often times, it's not.  In this episode, we look back at a time that God gave His people the real desires of their hearts.  It didn't turn out so well!  How long will He allow us to pursue the desires of our hearts when those desires aren't directed towards Him or in line with His Will?

"Religion" can sometimes lead people away from a faithful relationship with Christ.  In fact, Jesus spoke against being religious just for the sake of being religious.  He warned against observing religious practices for the sake of gaining worldly praise and recognition.  Let's take a look at the dangers of being religious and then look at ways we can be authentic in our followership of Jesus.

Divorce can be such a taboo topic amongst Christians, but the fact remains that many of us go through it.  I've decided to make myself vulnerable and share my own personal story of divorce, including the hurts that came from the church, and what I've learned since then that has helped me see that I'm still a daughter of the King.

Hebrews 12 isn't for the faint of heart!  Sure, it starts with one of the most quoted and marketed verses of the Bible, but the writer also does a little calling out.  We're moving into the conclusion of our Hebrews study, and the writer wants to make sure he doesn't leave out anything.  It's very easy to take his words and apply them to us today, so let's dive in!

Last week, we talked about not letting the guilt from your sin overwhelm you and keep you from God, but this week, we're looking at the opposite of that in deliberate, willful sinning.  What does it mean when we sin willfully and what are the consequences of that?  Hebrews 10 doesn't hold back in laying it out there for us.

Isn't it funny how different people deal with change?  The Hebrew Christians in the book of Hebrews weren't so different from us today:  they struggled with change.  The writer of Hebrews gives them example after example of Old Testament Scripture that pointed to this NEW Covenant, and how much better it would be, but yet they're still tempted to stick with what is familiar because it is comfortable.  Listen in as the writer explains to them that Jesus provides us a better covenant with better promises.

The book of Hebrews may have been written for the Hebrew Christians, but it still rings true for us today.  Hebrews 7 addresses some intellectual concerns the Hebrew Christians were struggling with, like how can this Jesus guy be our high priest when He isn't even from the right tribe?!  The writer uses an old teaching strategy to help them understand--he connects what they're struggling to understand about Jesus with what they do understand about someone they already know, a king and priest named Melchizedek.  This chapter also brings back into focus a common theme throughout the New Testament:  It doesn't matter what you give, as long as it comes from the heart.  It's a heart issue.

Then we move into the very beginning of understanding all the ways Jesus is worthy of being called our Great High Priest.  We see how Jesus embraced humanity in order to really be able to sympathize with what we as humans go through as we live life.
