"Maintaining our Sanity - Tip One"

The world has drastically changed in just a matter of weeks, and you have another source of strength - other families and teachers just like you. Unlike last year in 2019, when this podcast was established for the normal world of families homeschooling and alternate schooling children of African and African-American heritage, we are facing an international emergency. After the very first episode last fall, I became busy with my own children and grandchildren, mixing homeschooling with public schooling with juggling the needs of family members with healthcare crises and needing to go back to full-time work myself - as a teacher again. THEN THE NEW CRISIS ENTERED THE WORLD. Just like you, I am marshaling resources, inner resources and external, and finding out how to stay safe while also doing my part to help. Weekly, and occasionally several times a week, I will do a short podcast of resources, give you snapshots of what other parents are doing, interview parents and grandparents, give my perspective on the issues, and maybe even read stories for your youngest. Mostly, I hope we encourage and inspire each other to show love to our kids and to be there for each other as we guide them towards excellence. That's all we can do: Love and guide. They will ultimately choose their own path. As parents and teachers, we can help each other on ours.
